I already considered myself blessed to be a local boy and born and raised in Hawaii, but seeing this Man Neil. Not to sound pigeon but more like watching this hammer compete and represent Hawaii in the most humblest of manners. Made me feel exponentially blessed. Mahalo braddah Neil!
Hi Neil you are a real credit to your art I live in the Scottish Borders in the middle of nowhere and started to make knives for a hobby last year watching you on forged and fire inspired me to keep going no matter what I had the pleasure of visiting Hawaii for my 50th birthday about 14years ago what a beautiful place and just like most of the local people you a down to earth really nice guy Love the knives you make All the best for the future man Best regards John .
Neil has spawned respect in me I didn't acknowledge until now. That respect is easily earned by Neil. His story is moving and he makes me feel like I can make it through what I'm going through.
Just came across this video and thoroughly enjoyed it. Neil, my son and I really enjoyed watching you on Forged in Fire as well. So sorry you’ve had to deal with such family loss. But I’m also truly amazed at the wisdom you share in this video and the resilience and mindset you have. God bless you and your family!
Awesome history, sorry for your loss. My middle sister took her own life as well so I can relate. Kudos for your accomplishments and may your future be even greater, Kelly.
My man, you have literally been hammered on the anvil of life. And in turn, have emerged as strong as the steel that you forge. Keep at it, and great things will keep coming your way.
After watching about every episode of forged in fire at least twice ive seen you 4 times always enjoying your work and how you do it Like you my family heritage is from Hawaii Like you i enjoy working with metal since i was a young kid Keep it real look what our forefathers have done with less
Hey Neil, I want you to know that you're a great inspiration to me, and I mean from the first time I saw you on Forged in Fire. Your humble spirit makes you likeable, while your energy, strong work ethic, and great sense of humor just really inspire me. I always find myself cheering for the "underdog", and when you said (on that first show) that you only had 8 mos. experience, I was like "Yeah, I hope this guy wins!" Then after seeing THIS video and hearing you tell about what happened to your Mom, now I understand your passion. I'm sorry you had to suffer that loss and heartache, and I think that if your Mom could have realized what a great Son she raised, she would have known that she had plenty to live for. My prayers are with you, because I know that you never really "get over" the hurt, you just get used to it. (My Mom died from Alzheimer's almost 2 hrs ago). Do you have a web page, or an online shop, I'd love to see more of the blades you make. You've got a unique style. Keep up the good work!
Aloha Lucas - he truly is. Considering what he has gone through and how he's kept on his balance on the positive side of life is remarkable. We can all learn a lesson or two from Neil. thanks for tuning in!!
This guy comes across as a friend and I don't even know him. I really felt it when he mentioned him mum what a great guy he's been through a hell of a lot and still came out the winner I would definitely like to own one of his hand made knifes the details what he puts into his work is well just fantastic good to see he's passing his trade down to his youngest son great video would like to see more from him;o]
Your friend that brought you a forge to work with after your mom died must have had some idea you would be great at it. Life changes us all. It's not unlike a knife being put under heat and pressure to bring it so a certain shape. The forge of life hammers at us until we are a particular shape. Good video sir. Keep up the good work.
