When I was down, and I mean really down, I had my bestest streak of creativity. I wrote a book when I was depressed, I made like 10 art pieces with a deep meaning that resonated with people. I made new webdesigns and coded them a bit (but costs for keeping a website up are apparently rather crazy high over here...) and I didn't have much money.
Now, I'm working, I'm at the break of starting a new job in a few weeks and while the bank is still turning red, it's not as red as it used to be. It's more red cause we can now afford, after years of not being able to, to go out. Have dinner, go to a restaurant. I haven't made any cool art piece recently, I haven't written anything substantial in years and the game design doc I'm working on is progressing so slow, one might wonder if I'm even working on it at all.
And I'm liking it. Not loving it, liking it. I still want to change, I still want to get rid of the doomscrolling, read books, do yard work, build an outdoor kitchen and all that good stuff. But I am happy. I do miss my creativity though.
I've never been one that believes that art requires trauma, but it sure doesn't hurt.
Many examples of actors and stuff that lived in a normal house and saved all their money. Not all made huge amounts but were able to buy a neighborhood 3k sqft house and were done. Josh Hartnett and the guy who played the son, Bud, on Married with Children. Even Snoop Dogg lived in a very sized normal house. Christina Applegate lived very normal too.
