Good to see Skykomish and the Suburban units at S. Norwalk Tower again. The Metro-North Railroad cars looked very interesting.
I enjoyed watching Burlington Jct. Railway 1501 - nice and laid back train action.

I am curious as to why JBHunt does not have its own railroad Company. It is seldom that a train does not contain JB Hunt cars, and plenty of them. In our local neighborhood gossip line on the Internet, the group is protesting the trains at a local rail crossing, “they are too long, and waiting for a train that long is crazy”. One person suggested a stop sign for trains! Hilarious. Just for fun I spent some time checking how many trains cross that rail crossing per day. I went to the local hump yard, and played the nosy old lady (I am 80). The folks were very pleasant, got a limited tour (I use a cane, not conducive to safety in a rail area) and info about the rail line, 2 trains overnight, one about mid morning and two in afternoon, depending on rail and equipment incidents.

Thing is, the JB Hunt boxes are multimodal international shipping containers, not rail cars. A manufacturer or supplier can rent the container, have it trucked to their warehouse, filled and closed, trucked directly to its destination; or trucked to the railroad; or trucked to the seaport; as appropriate. Then the container box can be hauled anywhere from hundreds of miles to thousands of miles on land by rail, or across oceans; and once there offloaded to a truck for its ultimate delivery to whoever purchased its contents. Managing the containers is enough of a full time job that such a company is wise to leave the actual transportation of the container to those companies who spend their effort and resources and money providing and maintaining the transport vehicles. 📖 A book worth reading for more history and information is "The Box: How the shipping container made the world smaller and the world economy bigger" by Marc Levinson, April 2016, with 544 pages.

First, railroads are very expensive to operate on a long haul basis.
Second, JB Hunt contracts for rail haulage. They get a rate per container and somewhat of a delivery time table.
Third, it's less expensive to move by rail than over the road.

I know that nobody really gives a flying duck about Amtrak anymore in this country but sometimes when I see these videos I cannot help but wonder what people are doing. Is it just a regular trip or someone going off somewhere they had never seen before. maybe their first time on a train or maybe some ole RR vet who rides trains everywhere regardless of distance. I met a guy at a convention once who hated air travel, rode Amtrak anywhere for long haul trips.
