Jigsaws conjure up my granny’s sunny front room, jigsaw on the card table, red geraniums on the windowsill and the ginger cat enjoying the beautiful uninterrupted view of the sea.
No, no, excellent system . Did not realise how much this appeals to my sorting and organising. Why did I not think of a jigsaw before. 🤔.Thank you, kate . Love this.
Great memories of my Mom and Dad always having a puzzle on their table. Whenever I would go over, it would be a cup of coffee and look for pieces, and now when I fly home to be with my daughter Jenni, we have the most fun sitting down in the kitchen with a puzzle and coffee.🥰
Kate, bonkers! I don’t think so. What a great system and I’m going to give it a go. I do jigsaws on my iPad also and will give your method a try on that too. Love the picture on your new jigsaw. It’s amazing how much you can get engrossed in doing the puzzles, it’s always “I’ll just try for a bit longer” so you feel satisfaction of achievement when you get there. 🇦🇺
I love jigsaw puzzles. Especially Ravensburger puzzles. My children laugh because I often call the pieces male and female. I always do the outsides first and then sort by colors.
I got my love for jigsaw puzzles as a child when I was living at a missionary school. I also separate out the edge pieces. I never sorted out any others. I'm going to try your method next time work a puzzle. Love you, your family, and your channel.
yes, those of us who are puzzlers do like to caress the pieces fitted together. Very good ASMR! I also get a lot of satisfaction from the fitting a piece into its place, especially if there is a clip sound!🦌💌❤️🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩🙏
The queen of puzzling is my sister! She does the 1000 & up pieces & she is very particular about the brand that she buys 😊 I would enjoy your 500 piece-that one is beautiful-& I would sort corners, edges, then colors. But what a great system you have going!!
My husband loves ravensberger puzzles. He’s made some really huge ones that we frame and hang in our house. He sorts pieces by color onto trays from IKEA. (We also have a rather large stack on ones he has made but wants to keep, and he donated quite a few to a kids group in a local town.)
A very healthy pastime! My husband and I do them all the time. He sorts I don't. I just look through the box after I do the outline. Massaging the pieces in the box is so soothing.
Hello, Kate! 🌸 I loved watching your jigsaw video. How special to have one with your mum’s quilts, Rita, Agnes’ epp quilt, and your lovely tins and jelly rolls! I enjoy putting jigsaw puzzles together as well! I do the edges then sort by color. 🤓
My Aunt always had a jigsaw on her table. I love doing them and recently bought a table top jigsaw puzzle holder. I have never sorted a puzzle like you do, I sort by color. Whatever works! It has rained a lot here today thank goodness! We have been in a drought, Southeast Texas. Good luck!
Cool that you're able to do it down at the cabin. I sort all of the edges first as well, then by color. I RARELY get all of the edges pieces out the first go 'round. I think it's awesome that you sort by shape...I thought I was the only one LOL. I'm still pretty happy I got the stained glass window since I love that window so much.
I've never heard of sorting your pieces by shape! I always seem to sort by colour. But I love doing jigsaw puzzles in any case and I can get quite addicted to them. Lots of fun. Your beautiful photo makes a great jigsaw image.
Beautiful way to spend time at your cabin. Away from the space in the house to be free of the many things that you otherwise do. Peace and purpose. You remind me that all things are possible. ☺️
Systematic puzzler here. I love that motive. Karen puzzles is a puzzle channel that I follow. She goes to competitions sometimes and hunts for rare and interesting ones. It is so fun doing them, and even in tandem with a friend.
I recall your video when you took your mother's quilt tops to Cath (long-arm quilter in Scotland) about 3 years ago. I really enjoyed that episode, seems like yesterday. Tonight is Halloween. I wasn't ptepared with enough treats because last year I didn't have a single trick or treater. This year - dozens. Your new puzzle is sweet and cheerful. I admire your patience as well as your method with it. If you want a cheat-sheet for next time, put a random number 1-500 on the back of each piece. Then take a photo of your cutting-board grid, enlarge it, and put the correct piece number in each square. Like a key.
I am a sporadic jigsaw maker. I have a love of puzzles since childhood. My maternal grandmother ALWAYS had a puzzle on the go. Everyone who came in the door stopped to place a piece or two...or more, even before greeting the household. My granddaughter is coming for Christmas and she loves puzzles, too. I expect to have one out for her entire visit.
This is going on my wish/shopping list right away! I have your two previous puzzles. I also rake all the pieces to one side to find all the edge pieces first. I turn all the pieces over as I go as well so the image side is up. I don't bother to sort the pieces further except maybe for color and pattern to build a part of the overall picture. 😊
I love your bobble sorting system! I’ve always put out all the pieces, sorting by colors (after sorting out the edges). I can hardly wait to get this new puzzle. Maybe I’ll try your system. By the way, thank for gifting us gratification! I, too, enjoy a jigsaw puzzle that is challenging, but not too challenging. 😄
Hello from Cincinnati, Ohio! I very much enjoyed this video! I find it interesting how different each person’s style is for putting together a puzzle. 👍🏻My style is, put the border together first, then sort by color. I do run my fingers over the pieces in the box often, it’s very satisfying and relaxing.
I am working on a jigsaw right now and may try your unusual method. I usually sort by color or object. What a beautiful picture for the puzzle. My favorites are cat puzzles. Love your videos, Kate.
I sort my puzzles the same way you do. I also have a cat called Rita and her favourite sport when I am doing my puzzles is to jump up and scoot all the pieces on to the floor. I enjoy watching your posts and look forward to nrw ones.
When my friend Sarah and I do a puzzle, we use several boxes (we usually do 1000 piece puzzles) for the pieces and then we turn them all over the right way as we look for edges. We put pieces together in group like you do, but not until near the end…
That was a lot of fun to watch. I think up in my mail box I have your "stained glass window" puzzle from "Royal Mail". 🤩 Now I see another puzzle that will be in my near future. 😀
I enjoy working jigsaw puzzles. I sort the corners and edges first. I've been wanting to get another one for the winter. Perfect! I love your sorting process. It's genius! Take care, Kate. ❤
Hello Kate. Love jigsaw puzzles. You have a great system. I just dump them out and go at it. Will try your way. Have a great day. Looking forward to your Christmas store.
Always love jigsaw puzzles. I have just one rule! I never look at the box or picture! I love the challenge. As soon as it’s completed, I put the whole lot away immediately. Back in box for the next time I feel like doing it. Beautiful picture. ❤️🇦🇺
I love it! I have a cat like Rita. Her name is Kit Kat. I also have two Tuxedo cats. I do love the idea of jigsaw puzzles. I just don’t have a place for one. I really enjoy hanging out with you while you put one together; or do anything really. 💕
Love doing jigsaw puzzles. I like your system of sorting the piece, Kate. It's a stress relief for me to sit and work on one. Thank you for a lovely day.
That's beautiful,I must admit I'm absolutely hopeless at doing them...but my 10 year old twin grandchildren are brilliant...maybe treat them to one to keep at Nana's.Love to you all...and thank you x
My mother in law would put together a puzzle then have my father in law glue it to a backing and frame. We have one now that she did as a beautiful reminder of her. Thank you Kate for the colourful puzzle.
I have to do my puzzles on the computer, because we don't have a flat surface large enough to hold a puzzle. I get puzzles from The Quilt Show. Each day they post a show, there is a puzzle to do, always of quilts. I do get all the edge pieces sorted and together, then I put the puzzle together mainly by color. I don't do any more sorting I just pick one piece up at a time and see if I can find the place for it. Basically, I work from the outside in toward the center. I do love puzzles!
It's so relaxing to do a puzzle time does slip away I used to do puzzles but I kind of got into something else but yes I love puzzle pieces putting them together🎉😊😊
I'm the Jigsaw Provider for my mum, age 89. Maybe I should go for this one 🥰, she would love this motiv! Maybe 500 is too much, but, she has a strong will, for sure 😍
That is a genius way to work a puzzle! It would never have occurred to me. Thank you, Kate, you're inspiring me in so many ways. Plus, your videos are so soothing, I always enjoy having them on - especially when I'm doing something repetitive (which I love to do) like frogging a sweater, as I am now. I'll buy the puzzle to go along with the Sheep one I bought from John Arbon, which I also learned about through you. I wish you would reprint your book about Norma - yes, I know you've said you don't intend to but it never hurts to prod a bit. Love, Lynne.
I'm just a bit more bonkers than you since I like to use shallow trays to sort. Definitely corners and frame first, though. 👍 But I sort by color/pattern rather than by "bobbles." 💖 Love your terminology. 🥰 I say, "2 in, 2 out" or "3 in, 1 out," etc. I, too, prefer larger pieces and 500 is a nice size. That is a lovely pic, too. I may need to get this one. 😍 Thanks for the lovely visit!
Oh Kate listening to you saying “Jolly good” “oopsie daisy” plus many other sayings you frequently say take me straight back to my childhood listening to mother and grandmother telling us and each other stories, both from Britain mum was born in Stratford upon Avon. I also do edges but then lose myself in mix of colours and oners and twoers etc my family do jigsaws in a similar way as you often there is not enough room so we have containers all over the place. Mum used to get so cross cause we would start jigsaws late in a day usually Sunday, just before dinner and we couldn’t clear the table for eating and we had to eat on our laps in front of telly, quite a good plan TV in the seventies was fun family time on Sunday night😂😂😂
That’s a beautiful puzzle! I think that one should be framed and hung in your cabin! I don’t have a lot of jigsaw puzzles. I enjoy working on them on occasion though. Love your videos and soothing voice! 🥰
I love your puzzle design. I do the edge first then sort by color. When I’m stuck I sort by shape of pieces. I like the 1000 piece puzzles. Puzzles are so addictive!!
I do start by sorting the edges, but then I usually sort by color. I never thought of sorting by shape, that’s genius.
Beautiful puzzle! I do the edges first too then separate by subject/color.
Jigsaws conjure up my granny’s sunny front room, jigsaw on the card table, red geraniums on the windowsill and the ginger cat enjoying the beautiful uninterrupted view of the sea.
I think you are talking about my granny :), aren’t grannies just the best :)
I also love to do jigsaw puzzles, and this one is absolutely perfect. Having Rita and your mom’s quilts make it so representative of TLHH!!
Love that it has Cat Rita
I definitely sort mine by color! Works better than baubles. For me, anyway... enjoy!
No, no, excellent system . Did not realise how much this appeals to my sorting and organising. Why did I not think of a jigsaw before. 🤔.Thank you, kate . Love this.

Kate I've just bought my first jigsaw in many many years and I'd forgotten how relaxing it is. The edges are definitely the way to start 😊😊
I love jigsaws. I do the frame first then fill in the rest! Looks like a fun day in the cabin.❤️
I got my love for jigsaw puzzles as a child when I was living at a missionary school. I also separate out the edge pieces. I never sorted out any others. I'm going to try your method next time work a puzzle. Love you, your family, and your channel.

Ahhh yes Indeed, beautiful especially cat Rita! 🍁🇨🇦👏💖🦋🌈
I collect jigsaw puzzles, and love making them.

Love that the pieces are big! I also go for the edges first. I am looking forward to the Christmas Shop!

I love it ! What a great idea. A must get. I enjoy doing puzzles with bigger pieces.
Fun, I enjoy jigsaw puzzles. Yes, I look for edges and corners first. 🙃
Love doing a puzzle after the New Year Day celebrations. Winter is a great time to slow things down.
I've never heard of sorting your pieces by shape! I always seem to sort by colour. But I love doing jigsaw puzzles in any case and I can get quite addicted to them. Lots of fun. Your beautiful photo makes a great jigsaw image.
I do love working jigsaw puzzles saw puzzles!
Beautiful way to spend time at your cabin. Away from the space in the house to be free of the many things that you otherwise do. Peace and purpose. You remind me that all things are possible. ☺️
That's a beautiful picture for a puzzle
I think your system is brilliant I wish I had thought of it but in future that’s how I’ll do it x
Fantastic picture for a puzzle and my favourite size, 500. I will try the bobble system 😊
I'm like you, I love puzzles and also do the edges first. And I agree that 500 pieces are the best size.
My system is sides first, sort by colour do as much as I can and then whatever is left I sort by shape. It looks a beautiful jigsaw. Have fun. X

7.40am Victoria Australia I do my jigsaws the same way. I've just finished a 1000 piece Van Gogh. Love your latest puzzle.

I love puzzles , that one is beautiful. You should do a jigsaw puzzle of the wooden painted quilt behind you on the wall. That would be lovely.
It is not just a good system it is GENIUS!
Love puzzles...we use cookie sheets to separate colors. I like your idea of seperating by shape.
I love your bobble sorting system! I’ve always put out all the pieces, sorting by colors (after sorting out the edges). I can hardly wait to get this new puzzle. Maybe I’ll try your system. ideal: maybe u could show how to decoupage the finished jigsaw and frame it to hang in our sewing/quilting/knitting room/area. ❤
Loved your first puzzle and i cant wait to order this one. Yippie!

I knew it was Rita right off the bat. ❤ How wonderfull.
What a lovely puzzle! 🩵💜🩵
I bath by colors and any pieces with letters or words. Then when I am 1/2 done I reset to the bobble system. Love your energy
I do colour as well - never thought of sorting by shape but may give it a go!
What a beautiful puzzle! I would love to get one of these from your Christmas Shop. Enjoy your dinner.
Very much fun, great job, I love your sorting idea , I will definitely try that way. Great to see you. Take care, the cabin is wonderful. ❤❤😊
A lovely puzzle. I never thought about sorting out the bubble pieces. What a great idea!
Hello Kate. Love jigsaw puzzles. You have a great system. I just dump them out and go at it. Will try your way. Have a great day. Looking forward to your Christmas store.
Edges first ... always. Then color. I will have to give your technique a try. I just never thought to do it that way. I'm intrigued now LOL 😁
You have to have lots of patience to do puzzles and you have a very good strategy 😊.
I haven't put a jigsaws puzzle in years. This one is beautiful. Like the organization you use.
If there are any left 2 weeks from today, I am getting one! I have your previous 2 puzzles and love them!
I make the puzzle the same way you do. I can’t believe it. I thought i was the only one that had the same process
What a great video. I love the idea of putting our own Christmas Box together. Thanks TLLH team. ❤🇨🇦
Always love jigsaw puzzles. I have just one rule! I never look at the box or picture! I love the challenge. As soon as it’s completed, I put the whole lot away immediately. Back in box for the next time I feel like doing it. Beautiful picture. ❤️🇦🇺

Love doing jigsaw puzzles. I like your system of sorting the piece, Kate. It's a stress relief for me to sit and work on one.
Thank you for a lovely day.
My husband is really good at puzzles. He sorts the pieces by shape into five or six boxes. He can complete a 1k piece puzzle in a day!
I like to watch the students at UC Berkeley put the puzzles together face down. Not my idea of fun, but amazing.
That's beautiful,I must admit I'm absolutely hopeless at doing them...but my 10 year old twin grandchildren are brilliant...maybe treat them to one to keep at Nana's.Love to you all...and thank you x
I have your other jigsaws and can't wait to get this one. Many thanks Kate, Angela
My mother in law would put together a puzzle then have my father in law glue it to a backing and frame. We have one now that she did as a beautiful reminder of her. Thank you Kate for the colourful puzzle.
I love doing puzzles and I too do it exacting like you do. My system is the same. Love the way you did Rita first.
I love zigsaw puzzles also , start with the edge also , lots of fun .❤️🎃🍁
I usually sort by colors after the edge. Then when it gets down to nitty gritty, I sort by "bobbles". Great to know others use the "bobble" method.
I have to do my puzzles on the computer, because we don't have a flat surface large enough to hold a puzzle. I get puzzles from The Quilt Show. Love the puzzle, Kate! The backdrop of your quilted wall is so pretty! Love from Pennsylvania, USA💕🌷🐻
I sort the edges right away too. Then on to sorting by color. Then all the positve edges/followed by the negative.
Wow! You made great progress. Good system is my vote
Very good system two thumbs up
That is beautiful!
I sort by colour…I’m going to try your method!
Such a cute puzzle. Can’t wait to see what is in your shop.

I am a jigsaw junkie but no more than 750 pieces due to lack of space. I usually do edges and the sort by what section catches my eye!❤️
It's a beautiful jigsaw Kate !
I love your puzzle design. I do the edge first then sort by color. When I’m stuck I sort by shape of pieces. I like the 1000 piece puzzles. Puzzles are so addictive!!
This is my process as well💕🇨🇦
I sort my puzzles that way too! Melinda. My son was starting to times us but that was just too intense. Lol. We call them innies and outties.
