Yeah, the Half-Life one. Man I love that game, even though it does not hold up even a little bit. But that was also the first time I can remember that happening. If memory serves they use a similar mechanic a few times in that game, not always glass, but it seems like there were a few events you couldn't do anything but watch. At the time it felt revolutionary. Having a hard time remembering others off the bat.
I love how Ellen just "noped" it the hell outta there as soon as the spider came up, the quiet arguing off screen, and then suddenly Andy is sitting there all smiles reading the exact lines that were for Ellen. That entire bit was hilarious!
Should I be the one to point out that, in the comics, Bane is a genius as well as insanely strong? He built his drug/steroid thingamajig himself! Also, the back-breaking thing is canonical. Batman is put out of commission for quite a while from that.
Saw the title and yeah, Ghirahim. He even broke the ye olde Zelda trope of using the dungeon item against the boss. That beetle you got in the first dungeon? Useless against him. I tried and failed
I think part of the problem with Ghirahim (aside from the fact that he was difficult as a boss) was that the Zelda series had never had someone so creepy to Link. Most of the bosses just try and murder you. Ghirahim wanted to play.
Deadlift in borderlands. At that point in the game you have shitty guns and low armor, while he electrifies areas of the map (which kills you rapidly) and jumps around all over the place. At to that a huge shield and that guy is tough at nails for starting players.
Yeah, Deadlift was very hard and made me doubt if I could even pass Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel at all. Imagine my surprise when the next boss was down after few bullets to the face.
Diablo 1, the Butcher, Heaven above the Butcher! Boss of your first quest and if you're lucky will kill you in 4 hits, most of the time two. Also about as fast as you are
The thing about the Barrett fight in DE:HR is that the room is packed with guns, ammo, and explosives. You can kill him in less than a minute just using the huge explosive gas canisters lying around, since they damage AND stun him. It was a lesson in paying attention to your environment and not just spamming abilities.
Andy is an Assassin?!?! well I guess that makes sense, Jane, our evil overlord, hired herself an Assassin (Andy), and a Getaway driver (Mike), as her initial underlings and now has Luke and Ellen as her newest henchmen. Good to see there's a theme going on.
Actually, once he finds out where you are, he spray-throws about 4 grenades in your general direction if he can't see you. Good luck with that! The best way is to use stun/EMP grenades and hit him hard with Proximity Mines.

Robin _ yeah but does the asylum demon really deserve a promotion? i mean, hes difficult, but comparatively hes pretty easy compared to the rest of the game
He's the easiest of the series, just have to make a plunge attack and he's dead, you're not even supposed to fight him. But yeah, we could pretty much fill this entire list with any Souls/Bloodborne. There's 7 spot on this list, and 5 games x)
HulkingLegion I feel like Gascoigne has the title of hardest first soulsborne boss depending on what mood Gundyr's ai is in because he can just be champion but at level 1 when he feels like it.
What about the first Bowser clone you have to get past in the first Super Mario Bros? I remember beating him and thinking I'd finally beat the game, only to discover he was just first in a line of 8 times I'd need to beat him. Wish MARIO had just gone to the right castle the first time.
I actually remember the deus ex human revolution first boss fight myself, i was one of those souls who was focusing on stealth so it was very hard, i think i kept playing for about 15 tries before i won, i just used all the bombs i stored up from never killing anyone on him then and there, it was still really hard.
In Hyrule Warriors both Zant and Ghirahim basically have to be babysat by Ganondorf as they literally fail at everything they try to do. Demise is on a whole different level. I swear that boss fight was a huge mess for me the first time I tried it. I even had an unbreakable shield and I was forced to use all my potions.
Heheh, "a couple" Going by the trophy, only about 80% of people who own the game, have the trophy for gundyr (on ps4) So that means 1 out of 5 that brought the game, never got further :D No love for Taurus Demon tho?
Iudex gundyr from Dark Souls 3. There was a time before the first DLC that only 25% of those that played the game actually beat him. That number has since risen to 82%, but that boss turned away a lot of new players.
I was about to say that as well. I died 8 times before finally killing that guy. Dark Souls 3 was my first souls game btw. But that was the toughest first boss fight I ever played.
As someone who beat it first try, my thought was that it was a piss poor first boss because it clearly expected you to have extensive experience playing Dark Souls from the previous games. It's not a hard boss if you're used to how Dark Souls works, but it is NOT a tutorial to the game.
Tanner Pierret I'd have to disagree with you on that last statement. The one thing that the Souls series has always been known for is rewarding experienced players and punishing new and impatient ones. He wasn't so much a traditional tutorial boss, though you still used mechanics learned against the starting hollows (blocking with your shield, parrying, or dodging), he was moreso an introduction to how difficult the game could, and would be for players.
Talion Blacktear Lets be real: The Devil Walker was the real first boss of that game! I remember spending more than half an hour on that thing back in the beta!
"So it's safe for me to put my hand in this toaster so long as I'm holding this pot full of earth." XD That is one of the best jokes ever written on this channel.
I immediately thought this, but you do technically fight Champion Gundyr later, so does it still count? Does it count as a promotion if you're fighting a past version of the same boss..?
Here is a relatively obscure one. Fireman from Mega Man Network Transition. In a new game and first time playing, he is going to two shot you. You actually have to leave the beginning area and pick up some expensive water chips for the beginning of the game to get past him. Stranger still is how stacked the game is in the first half. First part of the game is brutally hard, but after getting some money and more HP, upgrading your buster, and some new chips, the second half is mind numbingly easy.
seriously take the knight, the shield makes this guy so easy.. hes super slow, so shield up, dance around him and poke him after he does his sing and dance routine
Mr. Anonymous So you expected the main villain to NOT be Ganon? If you or anyone else actually didn't assume/know that Ganon was the main villain in a Legend of Zelda game, then you are too stupid to even be playing the game. That's like saying it's a spoiler to say you play as Link, get the Master Sword or Zelda is in the game. Come on.
Red Floyd Idk what the heck they are going on about, but some of these games are over 15 years old and the most recent one was still 6 years old. If you haven't played these games yet and are mad about them being spoiled you have no one to blame but yourself. (Note I'm not specifically referring to you, just "you" as a general label for anyone bitching about spoilers.)
Keep in mind: this is coming from a guy who plays call of duty games on regular difficulty in the campaign and it is an extreme struggle for me to beat a level on the hardened difficulty. For the first one, bane, i beat it first try, i felt they should have made him more powerful considering he is, well bane.
Ghirahim wasn't as hard as you think. The main problem was the gyro scope in the Wii mote to allow you to attack. If you have a good Wii mote your fine, just when he grabs your sword fling your controller like you won the lottery and BOOM instant win.
oh my God, flashbacks of playing Pokemon Yellow are coming back, getting all available Pokemon from the first area, and going after Brock, Brock's dreaded Onix kills my entire team but he's almost 90% health gone, all I got left is my Pikachu, so I use Pikachu and perform tackle as that'll be the only affective move, I get a critical hit, Onix is now down to 1% health left, Onix does a move on me, I'm down to 1% health left, I have to make this tackle work otherwise I'm toast, I pray to God hoping that I beat Brock after 25 tries with no luck, and sure enough, thank the lord the tackle hit, Onix is dead and I'm breathing heavily like Markiplier when he beat the Octodad 2: Dadliest Catch secret level
PataponCreeper You do realize that there is an easy way to get mankey, yes? A little patch of grass just outside Victory Road has them (as well as nidorans) - also, butter free has confusion (which takes down rock monsters as they have low special stats). Knowing these facts, I never struggled with Brock.
@@FrankCastle-tq9bz I actually didn't know Mankey could be caught there, and I didn't know I could catch Butterfree, I was trying to level up my level 3 Caterpie but he kept fainting in training, which was no help for me, even in the dreaded Onix battle, but did you know that if a wild Pokemon is level 3 or lower that you don't have to fight them, you can just simply at the start of the battle just throw a regular Pokeball and it's a 100% catchrate, no joke, I just threw it once just to try it and it worked every time
PataponCreeper Well, now you know - and it’s actually easy to train caterpie when you just switch him out for a better mon in battle (he gains Xperia just for being in combat at all).
LQ-84i, AKA Bladewolf in _Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance_ was really tough the first time I played the game. On subsequent playthroughs, once I had mastered the game's mechanics, it was significantly easier, but I'll never forget how tough it was the first time through.
Daniel Girard its much more challenging when you are playing the game in hard difficulty so you have to watch the exact movements of the joker goons (due to no counter indicator) and bane preparing to run, and if you happen to be too close to him when he rams there is almost no way of avoiding the damage
If you thought he was easy in Batman Arkham city there is a boss called the electricutioner with electric fists and you didn’t even get to control Batman it was just a cutscene of Batman kicking him in the face and knocking him out
Cerberus from devil may cry 3. mock me if you will, but Cerberus is the only boss in that entire game that gives me trouble. save for the third Vergil fight and the leviathan heart. also, Dante's first fight fRom dmc 4 on Dante must die difficulty. He's arguably harder than his second fight on son of Sparda difficulty. edit: also, you guys said that phantom would be better as a later enemy, which, surprise, *_that bitch is._* like... twice. I think he comes back in devil may cry 2, as well. the bastard. even though he's not ask that hard if you know where to hit. And you're used to dmc3 and 4. you eat him alive that way.
Demon Souls first boss Vanguard, doesn't help that he pops up just as your figuring everything out, but he tends to kill you in 1 to 3 hits, thankfully him killing you was planned and the story but he will pop up again as a Mini-boss if you didn't kill him the first time.
easy for us to know NOW, not so for a little, wide-eyed children selves who didnt understand the concept of type match-ups except the basic Fire beats Grass, Grass beats Water and Water beats Fire...or just Pokémon noobs in general
Mankey does absolutely wreck Brock. Only thing is you couldn’t catch one there in Red/Blue, so people who didn’t know about the change may not have bothered to check.
Can I just say...you missed out on an incredible Pikachu joke. Could have said he would have ruled with an Iron Tail.....cause that's a move Pikachu can actually learn for some reason.
1:00 Bane is so much more than a brute force villain, hell he is a million times smarter than the Joker being one of the few to actually defeat Batman in a battle of wits, and brawn
+Windex Glass Cleaner I always play a new game on the lowest difficultly possible so I can learn and master the game BEFORE playing it on a harder difficultly. tho oftentimes I never up the difficulty and just keep it on easy cuz I just want to have a good time and kick some ass/shoot ppl's fucking faces off.
I know it's not technically a boss, but the first frost troll in Skyrim deserves an honourable mention.

Also, the back-breaking thing is canonical. Batman is put out of commission for quite a while from that.
also that boss fight is trash when u look at ivy and crocs fights
Have you seen what Venom does over a life time? Look at Batman Beyonds Bane.
Yeah bane broke his back and bane is, at least in a few comics, ridiculously smart and strategic
Bane in the comics is a mix of BOTH Bane from the movies... each movie focused on a single aspect over the others.
Van ban h. N,
comic Bane isnt a just brute character... he is acctually a genius
Yeah, but in AA he's pretty much just a brute.
In Arkham origins he’s a genius too, it’s because of all the venom and Titan affecting his mind
Which makes him even more terrifying to fight
Batman & Robin Bane + The Dark Knight Rises Bane put together make the comic Bane...
True, iirc, he knows something like 5 languages

The best way to get rid of Barrett is by using the patented Coward Method:
1. Hide behind barrels
2. Spam grenades
3. ???
4. Profit!

Firan25 no. Twilight princess was, skyward sword can be played on the Wii U, but it still needs the wiimote, nunchuck and motion plus.

Michael Blakeney the cake is a lie, it's just sneaky exercise
Not all cakes are liars you know, that's cakist!
Paul Wade Hashtag: NotAllCakeIsALie
Oh come on! Where is gohma from wind waker! That boss came out of lava! My childhood mind was blown!
Reckless Block It took me and my 2 best friends literal MONTHS to defeat good ol' "Scorpio". Wish we knew to just look up.
Was that a deliberate PBG reference?
Kalle Demos's harder though
...
maybe
...
What about the first Bowser clone you have to get past in the first Super Mario Bros? I remember beating him and thinking I'd finally beat the game, only to discover he was just first in a line of 8 times I'd need to beat him. Wish MARIO had just gone to the right castle the first time.

Subbed because ellen and luke are adorable
I see, now debilitated stupid attention seeking behavior called adorable. Learning every day.
Aleksandrs Masharo Your life must be garbage
I love Ellen
What an idiot.
Lucy is so much better IMO
I actually remember the deus ex human revolution first boss fight myself, i was one of those souls who was focusing on stealth so it was very hard, i think i kept playing for about 15 tries before i won, i just used all the bombs i stored up from never killing anyone on him then and there, it was still really hard.
Uh... But Ghirahim already is second in command...
Inhaled Corn yeah but
he's that fabulous he should be higher
In Hyrule Warriors both Zant and Ghirahim basically have to be babysat by Ganondorf as they literally fail at everything they try to do. Demise is on a whole different level. I swear that boss fight was a huge mess for me the first time I tried it. I even had an unbreakable shield and I was forced to use all my potions.
Kyle Pessell that's a point
They are bothbuseluss in hw
But damn us the skyloft remix good
Gundir in Dark Souls 3, I know a number of people that bought the game, and quit before beating the tutorial boss.
Heheh, "a couple"
Going by the trophy, only about 80% of people who own the game, have the trophy for gundyr (on ps4) So that means 1 out of 5 that brought the game, never got further :D
No love for Taurus Demon tho?
I only beat his with knight and pyromancer haha cheesed him
chantz hulick I had my friend beat it for me
He's supposed to be that hard?
D Bo he’s super hard man
Iudex gundyr from Dark Souls 3.
Tanner Pierret too bad, Dark Souls 3 was my first souls game....poor me. :-
Tanner Pierret I'd have to disagree with you on that last statement.
Oh please he's easy
Back when it first came out: Sepiks Prime from Destiny took waaaay too long
Talion Blacktear Lets be real: The Devil Walker was the real first boss of that game! I remember spending more than half an hour on that thing back in the beta!
ArchdukeOfBreezy
Some guy friended me after the 20 minute fight with it.
Gore Magala aaaah, good times...do you ever miss your old raid teams? I kinda do
ArchdukeOfBreezy Just beat the 390 VoG with my original team
ArchdukeOfBreezy Yeah, but I'm hyped to join them again in the sequel
"So it's safe for me to put my hand in this toaster so long as I'm holding this pot full of earth."
XD
That is one of the best jokes ever written on this channel.
What about Iudex Gundyr?
Clearly what I immediately thought when I saw the title of the video. Definitely the hardest Souls first boss for me.
Dat second stage tho
N.W.A.99 I think Dank Souls was too obligatory.
Vanguard would take that spot
I immediately thought this, but you do technically fight Champion Gundyr later, so does it still count? Does it count as a promotion if you're fighting a past version of the same boss..?
hi people of outsidexbox! love you guys! lots of love from the Philippines. have a great day 😀

ay ahaha ayos! hi din kababayan!
Did... did you just say the TENTH best assassin should have been easier?
K den
Dark Souls 3. the very first time you encounter Iudex Gundyr. He literally smacked my ass 15 times before I finaly passed him
Darmuka I had my friend beat him
Deadlift in borderlands the pre sequel
the first time i played Borderlands the pre-sequel Deadlift was a dirty son of a bitch
Jared C that's not because he's hard though. It's because he's a cowardly bitch.
that one was pretty easy, but RK5 and the Final boss took so long!!
Jared C true that my man
Indeed
Man, that Pikachu scream was a tad gruesome, eh?
No one is saying the “training match” in ninja gaiden ?
hardest part of the game
completely agree, I just commented Ninja Gaiden :D
Hello fellow wrestling fan
All hail the demon
Fear the Demon King!
I still think Seth should've won at SummerSlam.
HaloFridge thank lord he's recovered from the shatered shoulder and is back
Ludex gundyr, especially if you've never played dark souls before
shade999 gaming *Iudex
shade999 gaming *Iudex
what are you talking about? he was easy ! and i didn't play it before!
seriously take the knight, the shield makes this guy so easy.. hes super slow, so shield up, dance around him and poke him after he does his sing and dance routine
Or, if you have a decent reaction time, parry and riposte in his first stage, two-hand and dodge in his second stage.
Pretty much any starting boss from any game by From Software.
Utterly Spiceable yeah but that's the obvious choice
Death metal looks like handsome jack from borderlands and nix from infamous together
No just no
I found that 2 Blades from the original Fable was a bitch to kill.
Twin blades for sort of ease for me. It was the white balverine that petrified the shit out of me
"Pretty cute, right?"
Personally, I prefer Raichu.
if you have slightly played any of those games there are no spoilers its a FIRST boss
I mean, they do talk about the final bosses of several of the games for comparison's sake, so it's spoilery in that way.
Demise ending up being Ganon was quite a spoiler
(Note I'm not specifically referring to you, just "you" as a general label for anyone bitching about spoilers.)
cowartd Somebody's forgetting Majora's Mask, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, and various others.
Keep in mind: this is coming from a guy who plays call of duty games on regular difficulty in the campaign and it is an extreme struggle for me to beat a level on the hardened difficulty. For the first one, bane, i beat it first try, i felt they should have made him more powerful considering he is, well bane.
Do 10 video game moments that drove you crazy and caused you to throw your controller like a maniac! I'm looking at you, Dark Souls!
It would be filled with Shin Megami Tensai Lucifers Call bosses and enemies.
Dark Souls.
Taylor Edgell Father Gascoigne, I know he's the second boss but still
Well he is actually the first boss as Cleric Beast is optional
Ghirahim wasn't as hard as you think. The main problem was the gyro scope in the Wii mote to allow you to attack. If you have a good Wii mote your fine, just when he grabs your sword fling your controller like you won the lottery and BOOM instant win.
"Pi KAcHu"
ok pikachu i get that your throat is sore but first we need to defeat all of the grym leaders then we will deal the sore throat
when do "Bad Guys" care about fair fights?
rubicante from FF3? heals you before you fight
Meta knight from Kirby
Kim Jong Un but in the games he’s just a kinda bad guy
Kim Jong Un oh sorry I just thought you were one of those uwu Kirby anime people because I’ve interacted with them before and they’re scary
He‘s tecnically not the FIRST Boss but Deathstroke in Arkham Origins was either too early or too strong
oh my God, flashbacks of playing Pokemon Yellow are coming back, getting all available Pokemon from the first area, and going after Brock, Brock's dreaded Onix kills my entire team but he's almost 90% health gone, all I got left is my Pikachu, so I use Pikachu and perform tackle as that'll be the only affective move, I get a critical hit, Onix is now down to 1% health left, Onix does a move on me, I'm down to 1% health left, I have to make this tackle work otherwise I'm toast, I pray to God hoping that I beat Brock after 25 tries with no luck, and sure enough, thank the lord the tackle hit, Onix is dead and I'm breathing heavily like Markiplier when he beat the Octodad 2: Dadliest Catch secret level
Did you try Mankey? I remember low kicking my way to an easy win after getting squashed 5 times with Pikachu.
couldn't get Mankey till after Brock
Why isn't dark souls in this vid
bane was a stupid easy boss
I know!
Daniel Girard its much more challenging when you are playing the game in hard difficulty so you have to watch the exact movements of the joker goons (due to no counter indicator) and bane preparing to run, and if you happen to be too close to him when he rams there is almost no way of avoiding the damage
took me a lot of tries for it actually
but as far as the real story goes in the comic books, he should have been a later boss.
He's arguably harder than his second fight on son of Sparda difficulty.
edit: also, you guys said that phantom would be better as a later enemy, which,
surprise,
*_that bitch is._*
like... twice.
I think he comes back in devil may cry 2, as well.
the bastard.
even though he's not ask that hard if you know where to hit.
And you're used to dmc3 and 4.
you eat him alive that way.
the false knight from hollow knight, he's just a crazy maggot in a suit but he's pretty fricking tough with the crazy armor he stole.
Demon Souls first boss Vanguard, doesn't help that he pops up just as your figuring everything out, but he tends to kill you in 1 to 3 hits, thankfully him killing you was planned and the story but he will pop up again as a Mini-boss if you didn't kill him the first time.
Good job on killing him first attempt, but yeah if you didn't kill him the first time you can find him wandering around the Shrine of Storm's area.
easy for us to know NOW, not so for a little, wide-eyed children selves who didnt understand the concept of type match-ups except the basic Fire beats Grass, Grass beats Water and Water beats Fire...or just Pokémon noobs in general
mankey and poison pokemon at the entrance to the elite 4 which will give you an bonus battle with rival, which you won't get after your first badge.
Mankey does absolutely wreck Brock. Only thing is you couldn’t catch one there in Red/Blue, so people who didn’t know about the change may not have bothered to check.
7:47 YESH did THAT hurt my ears
Can I just say...you missed out on an incredible Pikachu joke. Could have said he would have ruled with an Iron Tail.....cause that's a move Pikachu can actually learn for some reason.
Sekiro geniciro hes a good first boss that woops your ass till you know how to play the game
That's the plan!
7:20-7:30 I broke down laughing at that part.
Am I the only one in the world who knows you can slide under Bane's legs?
WAİT WHAT?
NO FAIR
Bane- *butt slams bats spine as he slides under*
1:00 Bane is so much more than a brute force villain, hell he is a million times smarter than the Joker being one of the few to actually defeat Batman in a battle of wits, and brawn
Instant like.
I saw one of them wearing a “Balor Club” T Shirt
I remember tricky! that was the most frustrating boss i can remember. I was also 6 at the time but that probably had nothing to do with it.
I was ready for this big boss battle. Then I shot Barrett in the face with a sniper rifle and he fell like an exploding sand castle. That was easy.
Legoisland13 one where six you find that. Two were you on easy

Where is father Gascoigne from bloodborne
You're the only one with a fuckin g brain in the.comments. Can't believe how far i had to scroll down until I found someone making sense.
@@codyfritz2357
Only idiots fight Gascoigne first, you're not supposed to fight him first either. So no, you are the idioy here.
Bane was a monster before he even took Venom. He had brains but the Venom messed with his head like any other drug whenever he used it.
7:46 My god they killed a child...
