i dont know if anyone else has mentioned, but if you get the Shuckle's friendship to max the guy tells you to keep him :) its a fun lil thing to do on the side
I think over-levelling Ty might be making the game a bit too easy. Sometimes, I intentionally take my time with sections of the game, talking to all NPCs, running around, and just enjoying the atmosphere and setting. I feel a lot more immersed in the game that way. On the other hand, HG/SS are sooo much fun and it is difficult to stop "fast" progressing. I am loving team. SKARMORY would be so good to see and add. One of the coolest Pokémon.
Murkrow is my fav Pokemon, so i highly recommend it! You also absolutely can get a Honchkrow in HGSS, just need the Dusk Stone from Kanto or Pokeathlon(after Johto league).
dude fr, i've been replaying gens 1-9 and this never occurred to me once and it sounds like a great idea, shame im nearing the end of my replay marathon(replaying these games as though they were my first time) and im about to top off white 2 but this motivated me to replay gens 1-9 again on the alt version but with a journal this time
Been really enjoying your content, it's refreshing to see someone taking these kinds of notes and using physical guides in the increasingly modern time. It inspires me to be more in the moment and unplugged about gaming as well. :) HGSS's level curve is weirdly designed, so I don't think you're particularly doing anything "wrong" by your starter getting overleveled. The postgame in Kanto and the E4 rematch finishes at level 60-70 which is more in-line with where other games leave you at. If you don't want to grind the Pokewalker for Skarmory, Crobat is classic for a reason, and Xatu is a fun choice too! I have to also recommend considering Farfetch'd as an option over on Route 38 west of Ecruteak; I used one once and it was surprisingly fun.
I know what you mean when you say you’re breezing through the game. The base game of HGSS is usually pretty quick and straightforward. The real gem of these games are the post game which can take a very long time to complete but is so much fun.
Bellosom is awesome 😻 and Forretress is one of my favorites too! A lot of Gen4 content lies in the post game, even though they did still care about the story. Also, the pokewalker was supposed to add to your story progression by giving you pokemon to raise every 12+ hours!! Maybe thats why it feels like you're flying through the game
this is really cool stuff. HGSS are my favorite games and I do similar journaling/documenting my adventure when I replay these games. makes it more fun and makes me appreciate the games more. keep it up man
Great video. I wanted to thank you for making these videos. Ive seen a lot of people start making their own content with you as their inspiration. Its great to see. Also lanturn is one of my favorite pokemon. Hes so cool
It’s be so cool if you shiny hunted Bill’s Eevee gift Pokémon, soft resetting till you get lucky. It’d be a nice call back to your shiny Umbreon from Gen 3 but this time around it could evolve into Espeon!
7:06 I didn't expect to hear you reference our interaction regarding the pronunciation of Phanpy from your previous vid! I still call it fanfee here and there
Another cool video. You have inspired me to start my journey in Platinum with a diary in which I will write all my thoughts and things I have did in the past.
Xatu seems like a decent flying/psychic type, I’m playing through this with you too and thinking about one. I think I might want a Slowking so I dunno if I will double up on the psychic types, just need to double check if kings rock is found anywhere in Johto and not post game like I remember in the originals.
I'm shiny hunting the starters in HeartGold. Kinda wanna get shiny Cyndaquil since Typhlosion is one of my favs, but honestly don't mind who I end up finding since I like the randomness of it and all 3 have neat shiny colours.
in hgss, you can breed pokemon with 2-3 ivs in a "reasonable" amount of time, when the time comes for battle frontier i always like to hatch pokemon with the ivs they specialize in. might be a fun thing to do if you feel like catching dittos for 50 hours lol
You are not rushing the game at all. People value nostalgia way too much and haven't considered the bad elements of HG/SS. The map of Johto is extremely small and you don't really have many things to explore (caves, forestspuzzle areas etc). On the other hand, the difficulty level is relatively lower in comparison to other main series titles. All enemies after gym 4 and up to gym 7 have essentially the same level cap....because you can choose to go left or right after Ecruteak city. The gameplay is really good up to Ecruteak city but the second half of the Johto experience is really mediocre in almost every aspect (pokemon-wise, enemy-wise, map-wise etc)
Johto is by far the best to role play. Yeah, there isn’t necessarily caves to explore, but your supposed to be hunting for evolution stones, interacting with the events, and taking phone calls.
Thats one of the biggest issues with the gen 2 games is leveling up. Badges 567 can be down in pretty much any order. So they dont get stronger per say. One of my biggest gripes with the gen 2 remakes. They should have power scaled the gyms, maybe add certain events that keep the story similar but block off gym 6-7 allowing you to level up your team. it just sucks that once you team hits level 50 youre over leveled for the elite 4 and leveling further is a crawl. Even in Kanto the trainers and wild pokemon arent even strong.
Not sure if this was mentioned in other videos but if anyone knows where to get the stand you use for your DS and GBA while playing I would totally buy one
many people ask this and its called like an Icarus stand that came with a DS game. Its hard to find! I have not been able to point people anywhere to buy it
It's a pack-in from the game Kid Icarus Uprising on Nintendo 3DS. But I feel like that game might have gotten expensive, especially if you can't buy the stand separately, so try looking into one of those third party Nintendo Switch stands. Good luck!
might feel like you are rushing but the johto league is only half the game and kanto is the last half of the game so itll feel quick compared to other games but you could stop and do some daily stuff like bug catching contest, the weekly siblings or even just do pokeathlon
For the feeling like you're rushing part, that's just how Johto is. In my opinion, I love the experience, atmosphere, and aesthetic of Gen 2, but gameplay-wise, it is flawed. The level curve in these games is terrible.
i dont know if anyone else has mentioned, but if you get the Shuckle's friendship to max the guy tells you to keep him :) its a fun lil thing to do on the side
Bro you have the most unique and satisfying Pokémon content I've seen on UA-cam. Keep it up 🤙🏾

I really like the concept of having a notepad with you while you play the game. Never occurred to me before.

Wish future Pokemon games had the journal feature from
D/P/PT, glad you're doing it manually

Nice just hit gym 7 on SS as well! Typhlosion just kind of roasts everything atm.
nice! Yea same XD
@@nostalgicnighthawk Gonna try and reset on both HG and SS for the shiny extreme speed dragonite as well!
@@snapops o yea! That might be good thing to shiny hunt for a bit
Crobat for sure dude! Love that little guy

Babe wake up new nighthawk video of Gen 4 Pokémon!!!
I loooove these videos, really is the “ASMR” of Pokémon
Bellosom is awesome 😻 and Forretress is one of my favorites too!

Theres a gift dratini with extreme speed you get at the dragons den. I think that’d make for a good flying type after you train it to level 55 ofc.

love to see it. Internet need more content creators for this. I see you been grinding!
thanks man. I make content whenever I have the free time lol

will def be shiny hunting eevee for umbreon in this game! Wont be for a while tho i want to do that after we beat the game
8:32 try placing Typhlosion in the in the pc for a bit and run around levelling some others up
7:06 I didn't expect to hear you reference our interaction regarding the pronunciation of Phanpy from your previous vid! I still call it fanfee here and there
there so many pokes I am learning idk how to actually say
Use a friend ball on zubat so you can evolve it quicker into crobat 😉
ahh i should have done that!
Keep up the amazing work
Another cool video. You have inspired me to start my journey in Platinum with a diary in which I will write all my thoughts and things I have did in the past.
excellent! Happy to hear you are journaling as well
You should definetly be able to evolve a Murkrow in this game.
Honchkrow looks amazing and you can get the evolution stone from the bug contest
If your gonna use fortress you got to go all in and give it explosion. That’s would be a lot of fun!
Absolutely inspired by the content! Got out my DS and started playing my copy of Black and I’m currently shiny hunting for a Tepig!
love to hear! Hope you find the shiny soon
@ after only 1031 soft resets, I got the shiny tepig and it’s has a perfect attack iv!
@@Bam-_Bam7 wow! congratttsss

trying to get a shiny one too??

I like that you're using Bellossom, I decided a while ago to do the same. Just still leveling my Gloom to 47 first so it gets Giga Drain
everytime i play i struggle on choosing between donphan and steelix, both are so cool
I ended up catching that Murkrow in the swamp I think! Best investment ngl
what swamp?
@@plutoniumfriedrice safari zone!!! :) took me like 14-18 minutes
"I feel like a Team Rocket player" xDD
W video, Xatu would be dope.
The first pokemon to have 2 shinies forms.
I just beat Blue and caught a shiny Tangala. First shiny and I’m aiming for Red 🫡 perfect timing to watch your vid
congrats on the shiny!

You would not regret Crobat. I pretty much always use him. I’m using one on my Platinum play through that knows hypnosis. (Breed with Hoothoot).
Pretty sure it can learn curse as an egg move, as well.
What book is that? Awesome
Video btw keep up the great work
Maybe Dragonite for flying?
Here’s my team
Meganium
Tyranitar (late game)😢
Mamoswine
Starmie
Arcanine
Dragonite
Great vid ❤
dragonite too main stream! I want to use pokes i havent before. That is a sweet team. I forgot about my boi Mamoswine is in this game!
