Love this! Gen 4 is amazing. I’m in the middle of a few shiny hunts in a few generations, but whenever I am in BDSP or Platinum my favorite is resetting and hearing that amazing music. Thanks for sharing all of these with us!
I love how you're so open about the small issue you face mentally with your hunts. I am the same, I'm very particular when it comes to which exact copies I shiny hunt on. It's why I mainly hunt on 1 console, 1 cartridge, rather than multiple. My friends tease me sometimes about it 😂. But I dunno why I just feel it in my bones like, "I have to get this Pokemon on this specific cart". Fantastic video! Love the chill and relaxing vibe 😁

Sometimes I face the dilemma of wanting to multi-hunt across generations to increase the total faster, but really hoping it’ll appear in one of them specifically. I keep in mind I can always hunt the shiny again in a different game in the future though. I relate to this feeling of being uncomfortable if you don't do stuff in a very specific way so much! This feeling made me restart my save files over and over again. Just giving a pokemon I ended up not using a nickname was enough to whipe the whole safe. It frustrated me so much, that I didn't have fun anymore. I completely started from zero last year. I had no save files I wanted to keep anyway and I'm doing much better. The feeling comes back every now and then, but what helps me a lot, is that as long as the game gives me the option (like changing nicknames for example), there's no need to feel uncomfortable about it. What also helps, is the reminder that it's 2024 and I should play the game like that. The original servers are down, but fans put in so much effort to make old events available again. Getting them us fine. Just wanted to say that you're not alone in these things and I'm glad you're working on getting more comfortable with it. I hope it never has to get to a point where you need to start from zero. Congrats to finding these awesome shinies!
I really appreciate you sharing! I like that you’re keeping in my mind you can always change the nicknames later if you want. I’m so glad to hear the games are going better for you! I can completely relate. There were times I was experiencing more stress than enjoyment with the games due to feeling like I needed to things in a certain way, like thoroughly reading all of the dialogue from trainers, excessively cleaning my environment, etc. I restarted many times. Unfortunately I did end up back at the beginning, but since 2022, I’ve really rebuilt my console, game, and Pokémon collections, even getting ones I didn’t have before It’s an ongoing processs, but I’m continuing to let go of small things and enjoy the games more. After all, they’re meant to be fun. And if I really want, I can always be more particular on a future save file (but I usually delay that until the impulse fades) So true, the fans really did a lot to bring back old event Pokémon! Shiny Mawile has such a nice color! Definitely a future target. I’m glad I reclaimed Rhydon and evolved it this time, I think it looks good too! Shaymin was fun to hunt with the pretty unique runaway method. Awesome you got a Scyther too! Your video style is so good btw!
This brought back a lot of gen 4 memories - Sinnoh will always be my favourite region, especially with its music, legendaries, and the particular shiny sparkle and sound - which made shiny encounters more exciting in these games than any others. Thanks for making this nostalgic video! Also, regarding Trainer ID manipulation: I recently did that to try out the Cute Charm shiny trick with a specific ID/SID combo for that. It was amusing to encounter shinies on every few battles, but I didn't transfer any from the game.
This make me so excited to hunt in gen 4 sinnoh some day. Working on shiny origin dex in region release order, so it will be quite awhile. But I know platinum will always be my favorite game!
Great video! Makes me so nostalgic for the old days, and the excitement leading up to the releases of HG/SS and B/W. I have so many similar experiences of giving away games to friends or trading up shinies to newer gens (something I now regret). The old games are really special. Congratulations on the shinies, too! I’m looking forward to finally bagging Spritomb and some of other those Gen 4 one-off Pokémon myself.
I know that hunting for Shiny Pokemon is not easy, but when you put in the work, and you finally find one, I can imagine that it feels amazing. I’ve considered bringing all of my shinies there too - Darkrai from the void glitch in Pearl would pose a challenge though. I can completely relate about the PC box space in older games. Dude you were a Shiny Hunter before me, I started doing reset hunts toward the end of HG/SS era (2010) first Shiny being Soul Dew Latios (gave it to my ex gf and we were on bad terms and wish her well now but grew apart 💀) I will reclaim that Shiny one day. Still have my Shiny Starter Typhlosion from HG/SS and Shiny Giratina from Pt :D Also I got Shiny Shadow Raikou Master Ball-less not sure if you saw the Stream Vod but I changed the title and Thumbnail and everything, and best of all somehow it was during Shadow Month which I wasn't even participating in just going at my own pace. 505 Hours for only 3000 something resets. Also, I swapped from reset hunting in HG/SS to Masuda Method in BW and Shiny Charm Wild, Reset, and Masuda Method Hunts in BW2. Will be editing my comment as I watch this. The intro was very relatable. I never made videos until X & Y. Okay so edit time! So, yo all those Shinies were so cool and you used the best Balls on them. I got 2 Shiny Spiritomb's in Platinum last year and used Heal Balls on them but besides that Dive Ball was still a good choice. What makes Shinies really cool for me in the old games isn't the harder odds but it's the sprite work and color that makes them feel worth more and the nostalgia. Nice work!!! :D
I remember buying platinum with my own money when I had saved enough birthday money. I remember going to pick up my pearl copy. And I don’t remember picking up my diamond copy. I probably got it for my birthday or Christmas.

You have any tips for that rng method you used? I watched blisys video but i almost never get the Id’s im after. Any help?
Definitely, I’ll list the steps I used. Hopefully you find something in it helpful! I also like to get a cool Trainer ID before a playthrough *How to RNG Trainer ID in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum* *1. Download Eon Timer and Poké Finder:* Eon Timer: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1UAIyj7bTW6bWACfgwo7OLo541lF2r_gF; PokéFinder: github.com/Admiral-Fish/PokeFinder/releases (4.2.1 didn’t work for me, maybe due to the old PC I was using) *2. Find seed:* Poké Finder -> ‘Gen 4’ -> ‘IDs’ -> Type in ID under ‘TID’ -> ‘Search’ -> Copy seed of one you want *3. Convert seed to time:* Poké Finder -> ‘Gen 4 Tools’ -> ‘Seed to Time’ -> Paste seed (have calibration +/-200) -> ‘Generate’ -> Results are date/time needed for DS *4. Set Eon Timer:* Calibration Delay 600, Calibration Seconds 14, Target Delay and Target Second (relevant values from date/time found in previous step) *5. Set DS date/time:* Set DS to date/time from step 3, hitting ‘confirm’ on DS as start Eon Timer *6. *6. Start the save file:* Boot up game when timer runs out first time, go through initial save file steps, advance past TV screen when timer runs out second time
*7. Check obtained TID/seed (if didn’t get desired one):* Poké Finder -> ‘Gen 4’ -> ‘IDs’ -> ‘Seed Finder’
- If none show, set min/max delay to 4000/7000
- If hit odd delay when want even (or vice versa), end character’s name on other capitalization
- Personally I had more luck with *not* adjusting the delay of the Eon Timer based on the seed I hit (so the timer kept the same amount of time)
