They forgot Winston on the box art for the driving game? But... I thought Winston was THE DRIVER? I'm shocked Q5 didn't go back and meddle with the merchandise as well, and photoshop Winston into the driver's seat.
I was gonna mention the lack of Winston the box too and surprised that Porteous didn't "make a thing" out of it :) They went all movie with it, the three original guys and no Winston. EDIT: 8.51 ... okay, I seldom post comments before I watch the whole video, and this here highlights the damned reason why!! :)
If I had this toy as a kid, I would have probably worn it out in less than a year, obsessing over the layout and trying to put my own "ghosts" in there and stuff.
I definitely had this as a kid and only remembered anything about it until just now, and there are some very distinct memories coming back to me. There was something really cool about how the projector disk was a mini-city that gave off a pretty convincing and immersive 3D effect when projected, and I'm pretty sure I had just as much fun trying to figure out how it all worked back then. I seriously wonder what happened to mine.
I've been a huge fan of both The Ghostbusters movie and the cartoon. It's always great to see vids about these on this channel. Thank you Phelan Porteous!
Most of the comments are about how this game is from their childhood. Meanwhile I'm sitting here like "Huh. That's a pretty neat little toy. Wish I had that in the late 90's."
The only toy I remember from my childhood was my Exosquad action figure. But to be fair, this figure KICKS ASS s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/3d/2c/34/3d2c34bcdadb650761cdc199f76db203.jpg I mean, holy shit, look at that thing!
Nowadays, Ghostbusters toys are brought to us by Mattel. But it is amazing to see that Ghostbusters merch being manufactured by three different companies (Milton Bradley for the Board game, Parker Brothers for the projector game and Kenner for the Real Ghostbusters toys), all of which were bought by Hasbro.
You know what this makes me think of? In the Stylized version of the 2009 game, you have to navigate invisible obstacle courses with traps and things. So this would be a gadget that can detect those invisible mazes and project them with holograms, and you can traverse it more naturally than you could with the Paragoggles on.
You mean they deleted a scene of Winston Zeddemore punching a possessed Ray Stanz to save him? THAT COULD'VE BEEN HIS CROWNING MOMENT OF AWESOME THERE!!!
i've never seen anything like that before, that's neat. i like that it's made to play in the dark because it's ghostbusters. ghosts. spooky. it would make for some fun sleepovers.
Wow. This was actually pretty cool. I'd like to see something like this tried today. Obviously the first thing some developer would do is make it one of those VR games but even just a normal videogame or just an updated version of the projector would be a neat idea.
Phelan brother you are my Saturday mourning cartoon connection wake up show, taking me back to my younger days and I had a projector Real Ghostbusters Proton gun and it to was a awesome toy from the 80's awesome review brother keep it up
That's a really creative toy and I know as a kid I would have loved it. With modern day technology, it'd be cool to see them try to remake this bigger and better than before.
So... all it takes to stop a haunting / possessing ghost from acting crazy is punching the host in the face? Looks like all that -boxing- exorcising actually is about to pay off! Free exorcisms for everybody!
I remember having this toy. I think I received it 2nd hand becuase I remember wishing I had the ghosts to put into it. I just had the projector and the disc. But for how young I was it was enteraning as all hell. I think I played with it more than any of the atari games I had when I was little little. (Then when the NES came out that all changed for me. I remember thinking if they only just made Mario for Atarii (And I have a vague memory of seeing an ad in the toy stor for a rip off game that looked similar for Atari and I wanted it thinking it would be just like the NES, but thankfully ended up with an NES instead of that game. I even remember trying to draw the NES in my 1st grade journal and the teacher being confused about what it was and labeled it. It was a really stupid way to find out what your kids want for x-mas by the way.) "Alright class, today I want you to write in your journals about what you want for X-mas." I ended up with an NES that x-mas. :D
all light projectors i had were mainly for art and tracing and those were complete shit glad someone finally got a light projector right....in 1987 and never afterwards.
I've never seen that, and thats saying a lot. Ghostbusters was and always will be my favorite franchise, minus the new one. I had tons of GB toys and the light gun projector as a kid, but never saw this. Pretty cool.
I have never heard about this type of toys before. Really cool ideas and I can see how this idea could expand into diffrent ways to play video games on. I mean it´s a simpe function but really effective. But yeah are the ghosts just extra hinderance, whould be fun if you were suppose to crash into them to get more points. Make more sense.
It's a bit weird tho, that of all parts of the Atari/NES game they made a game of the one that has the least to do with actual ghostbusting, I think they could have replicated the building ghostbusting section with a bit of creativity.
Hello dear Phelous, can you please make a review on "the treasure of the emperor" so known as the "secret of Machu Picchu". A cartoon from the creators of "miracle in the toyland" and I watched it when I was a very young child on the TV channel is "Столица". Yes, I from Russia.
IBadGrammar Can you imagine the craziness Phelous would come up with if HE were Board James, especially with all the horror movies he's reviewed? Bad Luck Brad Jones wouldn't stand a chance...
We've gained alot of Modern Tech as Games go but the demand for Graphics over Gameplay is a real problem. It's mostly us, the Adults who keep (near)Zero-Tech Toys alive.
Dunes8 i guess plus the acual figures for mayhem rowan and the ecto 1 are decent like mayhem ligitatley is an awesome demon toy...but ill put him next to the REAL (claasic) ghostbusters that got made and go sid philips on tbe four tumblarina phonies in subway uniforms who think theyre so cute pretending to be ghostbusters

Got to give it credit the thing still works today.
If I had this toy as a kid, I would have probably worn it out in less than a year, obsessing over the layout and trying to put my own "ghosts" in there and stuff.

Holy shit this is amazing for a toy from the 80s
Yeah, Very Unusual

I just wanna know whether or not Phelan is part Native Inuit.
David Colby LT. J.T Marsh...still not as as awesome as Alex DeLeon...
@@smb-c3po no….? 😅 why do you care?

Let's face it, The 80's was an amazing time for toys, television and just a great time in general.
You know what this makes me think of?

These weird toy-game-things that they came up with in the early video game era are fascinating.
i've never seen anything like that before, that's neat. i like that it's made to play in the dark because it's ghostbusters. ghosts. spooky. it would make for some fun sleepovers.

Hasbro need to bring back the real Ghostbusters line, updated articulation and series accurate figures.
defender of the good i think mattel has the rights to GB toys now
Mattel did release a RetroAction line of 8 inch MEGO style, Real Ghostbusters series accurate, highly articulated figures 5 or 6 years ago.
Phelan brother you are my Saturday mourning cartoon connection wake up show, taking me back to my younger days and I had a projector Real Ghostbusters Proton gun and it to was a awesome toy from the 80's awesome review brother keep it up
Wow I had this as a kid. That brought back some memories. Please do more Ghostbusters toys.
Ghostbuster ghost, the remains of the former Ghostbusters
RIP Harold Ramis
ThePonyDalek So that's where Winston went...
How wonderfully random, I'm working my way through reviews of the GB Playmobil toys and this gives me a whole new appreciation for them!
I wonder if the projected image would have looked better if the wheel didn't have some yellowing. It looks like it's yellowed anyways.
That's a really creative toy and I know as a kid I would have loved it. With modern day technology, it'd be cool to see them try to remake this bigger and better than before.
The projector looks like a retro version of the Buggle-visor from Kamen Rider Ex-aid.
Very cool. I had the one that projected slides of Ghosts, but never even saw this one!!
Finally the same ghosts from the pilot and the intro of finally getting introduced in something
That toy is incredibly creative. what an amazing find.
Is that Lorenzo Music version of Peter on the boxart?
PikaTheProsperous It sure isn't Venko the Clown...
You can't see Winston on the box cause he's driving.
I thought this would involve a parent driving around while the kid projects stuff from the car.
Has anyone else noticed that Ray is holding a device that looks similar to this toy in the comic?
So... all it takes to stop a haunting / possessing ghost from acting crazy is punching the host in the face?
Looks like all that -boxing- exorcising actually is about to pay off! Free exorcisms for everybody!
"Learn to throw your voice, fool your friends, fun at parties"
I got a chill watching this. Had that toy as a kid. THANK YOU actually demonstrating it!
Also: You can bust the ghosts by just driving into them. :P
I loved this toy as a kid!

I've never seen a game like this. That's a pretty cool concept.
Thanks for sharing this, always appreciate seeing something from my childhood I'd never had, but wondered about :)
Autobotmech more real Ghostbusters merch please, do those knock off figures.
Iirc the knock off figures are next to impossible to find.
all light projectors i had were mainly for art and tracing and those were complete shit glad someone finally got a light projector right....in 1987 and never afterwards.
3:28 geeze, I live within walking distance of where this thing was made
I've never seen that, and thats saying a lot. Ghostbusters was and always will be my favorite franchise, minus the new one. I had tons of GB toys and the light gun projector as a kid, but never saw this. Pretty cool.
Finally I'm not the only one that knew about
the stock ghosts
I love how Winston, THE DRIVER (Thanks, Q5) isn't on the box...
I loved this thing as a kid
in some alternate universe, light projection games have superceded videogames
I have never heard about this type of toys before. Really cool ideas and I can see how this idea could expand into diffrent ways to play video games on. I mean it´s a simpe function but really effective. But yeah are the ghosts just extra hinderance, whould be fun if you were suppose to crash into them to get more points. Make more sense.
I'm pretty sure the artist behind the 'Ghosts' was also a regular for Mad Magazine, are they named in the manual?
Where is this highway that runs through buildings and graveyards? Sounds like a fun highway to drive through.
If Merchandise is Miraculous, who is gonna review? PHAY-LOUS!
It's a bit weird tho, that of all parts of the Atari/NES game they made a game of the one that has the least to do with actual ghostbusting, I think they could have replicated the building ghostbusting section with a bit of creativity.
How does the inclusion of the ghost stickers effect the challenge of the game in any way?
@ phelous where did you get your real ghostbusters music and sounds?
Probably from the show…..😅
Hasbro...'til all are one!
It was never as exciting as the description on the back of the box..
This is actually pretty cool toy/game
I own 2 complete working cores of this game. Every ghost slugged, the box, instructions...... everything complete.
This reminds me of the other light up ghostbusters role play item
i had this game as a kid!
Pretty cool🙂 wait if it still works, is it HAUNTED?!🙃
Or not 🤷♀️
21.7.22
Hasbro need to rerelease figures but with cartoon accurate molds and do the ghost that were on the promo images along with an ecto.
Phelous, a question: are you currently making the Resident Evil: The Final Chapter review?
this is a novelty
I always wanted to play a board game of the nes games
Nice that it is shaped like a proton pack.
Bring back old man reads creepy pasta
Someone is missing from the cover of this box. Where is Winston!?
Reverse affirmative action.
He was out at that New York Jaguars game with Slimer.
Hello dear Phelous, can you please make a review on "the treasure of the emperor" so known as the "secret of Machu Picchu". A cartoon from the creators of "miracle in the toyland" and I watched it when I was a very young child on the TV channel is "Столица". Yes, I from Russia.
I'm Board phelous And when Board phelous is bored, I play some Board Games
IBadGrammar Can you imagine the craziness Phelous would come up with if HE were Board James, especially with all the horror movies he's reviewed?
Bad Luck Brad Jones wouldn't stand a chance...
im glad they're ghostbusters ghosts
We've gained alot of Modern Tech as Games go but the demand for Graphics over Gameplay is a real problem.
It's mostly us, the Adults who keep (near)Zero-Tech Toys alive.
This thing is really, really interesting! :O
i guess Q5 meddled with the box art😅
A new kind of "let's play."
Phelous have you seen the 2017 Power Rangers movie?
I think that hasbro should have not bought kenner
Great game
3(.1)/5
thats really cool!
Well, Blizzard made and ENTIRE EXPANSION from a single NPC back in Warcraft 3... so anything is plausible :D
Could you please add more adds to your video? Had to sit through 4 adds and I still hadn’t seen what the game even did.
Yeah it would be awkward if skulker from danny phantom or jibanayana from yokai watch.
hows your, EVILSTICK
is there anything in toys hasbro dont own for the west any more
If anyone’s interested, I’m selling this game!
Where the fuck is winston?
My name is Phelan too lel
Phelan, for fuck's sake, tell me if you're part Native Inuit or not!
Stop being so rude and immature. You have no right demanding stuff. What the hell is wrong with you?!
kids love slimer
Did they really?😅 because it’s very hard to believe
Nice toy to tell the truth.
Thats very 80s
Keren bang
funny device
how the hell is a toy from 88 better than that crappy modern projection game? oh right cause it was based on the shite 2016 remake nevermind
Though there have been good games based on crappy movies before. The mobile game based on the '16 movie is rather decent.
Ghostbusters was remade with women! WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
"Ghostbusters was remade, but shitty! WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
Fixed that for you.
Well you left the crybaby whine in, which remains correct. As if remaking a movie in 2016 is something new.
lmao
Janine is hot
lol that one
dislike
Not the worst fan theory in the world...
