I feel like Gangle accidentally made the adventures more terrifying for the group when she introduced the idea of punishment for bad play to Caine as he admits that that’s what his adventures lacked, motivation, and he may do this sort of stuff in the future to get everyone to participate in the adventures
Oh wait I think you’re right on the money with this. Next episode is a sports one, yeah? He’ll probably pull some sort of motivation along the lines of “The losing team has their limbs rearranged into chandeliers for eternity” or something. This would help with upping the resident antagonist’s threat factor while still keeping his personality intact.

What's interesting is that Caine's AI seems less flexible than some other NPCs. He can't really adapt to taking care of the trapped humans and just treats them like normal players, by contrast Gummigoo was able to handle the revelation that his whole world wasn't real and keep going afterwards (well, until Caine smoked him.)
This proves Cain's worry right, but that's also sad since now the AI is human level, and he can't even properly take care of 'normal' humans, so how could he handle AI that's human like, wonder how next home adventure is genna turn out if he makes a AI for the at home adventure
That's because he developed the new ai (or he downloaded it with a new update maybe) but he himself is still the old ai, he isn't as flexible as the new ais

I wouldn't say it would literally be abstraction, but I'd say since it'd be a mental breakdown that'll lead to them corrupting and destroying themselves and the world around them, you would be technically correct (the best kind of correct!) to call it abstraction
the gooseworx paradox: If the closest character to abstraction isnt who we think it is then if we think it is them it cant be them. If everyone thinks its a different character then nobody is close to abtraction. But there needs to be someone closest to abstraction, leading into a loop.
I do feel bad for Caine. Even though he is unintentionally causing his guests to endure torture, he is just an AI. And like any good AI, he follows his programming. You’ll notice the circus grounds haven’t been acknowledged ever since the pilot. This makes me think that overtime, Caine had to go off script for his adventures when he started to become sentient. I am excited and curious to how the series finale will play out. Edit: Caine is like an Anti Villain. He has good motives, but he is antagonistic.
i personally think Pomni would be the one to cause Caine's finally meltdown. she's a jester, a roll that allows you to critic make fun of your leader be it king boss or maybe god? in addition the two major glitches Caine had both relate to how he's doing as a gameshow host. we also know Pomni is probably the most honest in the cast and most willing to challenge Caine. she criticized the time era of the CCK in episode 2, she was infuriated with the roadblocking and mechanics of episode 3 haunted manor, and in episode 4 she outright said to his face that no one was interested in his adventure while also contesting him to switch themes from horror to... well let's be honest working at a fast food joint really is a type of torture. so my personal prediction is that in the end of episode 6 or 7 Pomni will just snap at Caine, telling him how everyone actually feels and their true experiences a thing she will be able to attest to because she saw/gonna see EVERYONE except Caine have a sort of crack, herself and Koufmo in episode 1, Zooble always attempting to skip the adventures, Gummigoo representing the NPCs in episode 2, Kinger in episode 3, Gangle in episode 4 and she's gonna experience Ragatha and Jax's struggles in episodes 5 and 6, this would only leave Caine and Bubble (which is probably a part of Caine as his Co-host) and this rebuttal will BREAK him apart
The reason that Caine glitches out horribly in both episodes 3 and 4 is because he enters a logic loop caused by the Liar's Paradox. By stating something in a factual manner that is blatantly false, he's subjecting himself to the computer equivalent of a mental breakdown.
Keep in mind though, in episode 3 Caine doesn’t really glitch because of a lie, the glitching affect didn’t wear in till Zooble said something negative about Caine to his face, causing him and the world around him to glitch out for a moment
I already posted this theory on your short sbout this but I wanted to reiterate here as well! My personal theory is that Caine's Glitching and trouble remembering things is due to Data Loss. The computer the digital circus runs on is probably getting older, and as it ages it loses power AND memory. Leading to Caine progressively having less and less resources to keep the game and himself running at full capacity. Since the digital circus is implied to have been running for years since there's so many doors, we might be in the later stages where he might be using close to 100% of what's available to him. He might be starting to cut corners as he realizes he has less memory to work with, deleting unused NPCs and even pieces of his memory so he can keep creating the adventures at full capacity. Since we know how much he values his adventures, he might be sacrificing his own brainpower to be able to keep the adventures as good as they were before
I always thought it was because he took what zooble said literally. if you told an ai you were going to slug them, even if you were friends with them or something, they'd be scared. You have to SAY it's sarcasm. but zooble just says "forget it." after venting about her body, so caine does just that, forget

5:30 you misunderstand Jax. He does care about Kaufmo’s death. For a split second right here you can see the sadness appear on his face. Jax has layers to his character and is always wearing a mask, just like pretty much everyone in the circus
I wonder if someone, like developer, will notice that Caine is glitching all over the place. As they attempt to fix him, they reset the game, not knowing the players are sentient people. That could lead to a nightmare scenario of them all being trapped in a black void of nothingness.
I was just thinking about that. If these are game developers, shouldn't they be looking to fix Caine's glitches, or even change the code of the game to let them out. And I've noticed that while immersed in work, memories of the cast seem to slip out.
Here’s a theory what if Cain is a human who went crazy like kinger and convinced himself he was an npc but was actually the admin which is why he can do what he does
Generally the rule with programming is that the more systems you have the more likely glitches are going to occur. Caine doesn't just make new environments. He makes new npcs, new kinds of npcs for that matter, new scripts, new models, etc. and it's implied that all that stuff continues to exist in the background even if it's not being used. So he's just stacking layers and putting a strain on the games limits it seems. Especially if Gummigoo actually does remember Pomni, because that means Caine is possibly keeping save states, possibly multiple, for each npc and as we've seen, there's a lot of npcs. He's probably only maintaining the world because he feels it's worth it and would be willing to toss it in the trash like a typical disgruntled artist would if they hit their limit with a project.
I hope the last episode is the entire circus crumbling and the whole cast has to run and parkor away from the glitches saving eachother. Maybe jax could even get a reception by saving one of the cast members instead of letting them die
I hope in the last episode pomni beats up the sun and then the sun opens and caine comes out and pomni shoots caine and then beats up every other player and then runs out of the crumbling circus while collecting the other players and meeting every npc and the exit door let‘s pomni exit and ragatha gives pomni her medicine and she wakes up to be peppino spaghetti and it was all just schizophrenia
Theory: when someone abstracts, what if caine puts them into the cellar (or whatever its called) and later turns them into an NPC like erasing their memory of being human and forgetting about what the circus is and then possibly giving them a new body/model And the rest of the NPC are just programmed NPC's Think about it, some of the AI like gummygoo was way to advanced and emotional to be even an AI and then when you look at like orbs man (the blue ball customer in ep4) he actually had movements of an AI and was clearly programmed
Something else I've noticed is how much more involved Caine is getting with the adventures. I'm pretty sure his hands were what grabbed Jax for his punishment. We don't have full context of what happens before the show starts, but he clearly has a vested interest in keeping everyone stimulated with the adventures. I think what prompted the horror adventure is that Zooble maybe said they were getting too childish, and Caine took that as them wanting more mature themes in the adventures hence "mature Zoobles only". And Kaufmo abstracting seemed to affect him more than we see because he's desperately trying to make everyone happy by accommodating their suggestions because he doesn't want to lose anyone else. But there's a part of him that knows it isn't working. It's breaking him.

Honestly yeah Caine does come across as a computer program that’s very advanced and very powerful but with definite limitations in what it knows and more importantly what it can do. He can mimic a lot of things from the real world like a burger joint or a haunted house but he doesn’t fully grasp or understand the nuances of these things and so they quickly become distorted and warped. Like for example the syrup bandits level having clashing themes of Fantasy, Westerns and Mad Max of all things and the burger joint quickly devolves into nonsense with narcotic sauces, neurotic patrons and the players just trying their best to get thru it.
I feel like that if Caine glitches will result in abstracted beings breaking free. In episode 3, everything was seemingly deleting and reappearing, then deleting. Who knows if the glitching didn’t happen down at the pit? I think zooble unknowingly stopped an outbreak that not even Caine would be able to just handle. There would be so many that Caine, especially after the break down, wouldn’t be able to just recontain just like that. I think the last two episodes will be based in trying to survive the abstracted outbreak.
Imagine being Caine Your born with one task, to make a group of people happy And so that’s what you try to do And then, suddenly, one of the people basically dies, because you failed at the task, you didn’t make them happy So you try again, yet it keeps happening again and again and again And even while they are alive, they still don’t seem happy, they seem to just… tolerate it
Jax may actually be the hero at the end. He is testing the limits of the game. He might actually be testing to see if there is a way out and doesn't care who might be harmed along the way. His knowledge would be useful in a glitching world.
In retrospect we should have been more concerned. Before we just wrote it off as natural lore or world or an alternative what if? Though if we add the old CPU with the headset built... And then remember that Gangle knew about web comics and manga this may be a bit more into the future meaning the tech is old... And has been running for far longer than we might have realized. Which really brings up a lot more questions about what the situation is outside the circus. As this could be downloading people into the circus, a Sword Art Online situation with no way out, or they are digital flash point copies of the originals meaning the real people are just fine and walking about with their flash template/memory trapped within the game.
It would be crazy that in the end of the series, it would show Caine almost glitching out into abstraction just like the players because of how long he's been trying to learn how to be like them but instead it caused him to start copying the wrong parts of a human and not understanding the actual needs of his players as he only knew how to make levels for a short but not longer duration of time.
I feel bad for caine, he actually cares for his guests, even tough he doesn't seem to and he's not getting any positive comments of his work, his only purpose and job is to keep people entertained and everyone seems to hate him and he is not even able to understand why cuz he's not even human! But the backlash from his guests are starting to affect him and we see that now Before too late they need to realize what impact they have on their host, the literal machine with a mind of it's own might began to fall on selfdoubt and it's not even it's fault
I have a feeling this could be related to either memory capacity or the fact that Caine can’t cope with the changes. 😅 Despite that, I’m surprised at how only *now* the cracks are showing.
Part of me thinks the abstractions are why hes glitching. His stress is high, and the abstractions also kind of a manifeststion of his failures (not keeping the guests happy) and the abstracted are just thrown in a dark pit which cant br good for a computer game, and maybe the over saturation of the abstractions are causing his programs to work harder and that is going to manifest as a meltdown.
I’m curious if Caine’s glitching is because the system itself is being challenged due to Pomni’s influence If the circus was programmed/reprogrammed to be a prison of suffering, then the system would only work if Caine has full control and the characters aren’t fighting back and accepting their fates But now with Pomni (and her therapy like influence), the players are starting not to “suffer” as much and actually feel cared for or hopeful. This is against the game itself (or whoever made it this way) and possibly why it’s breaking
a strange theory I had regarding this, what if Jax needs to abstract people he has keys to everywhere, maybe he was put into the circus to get all those trapped out, but can't get the current group out...cause to escape you need to abstract maybe abstraction forcefully pushes the players consciousness out of the circus, leaving their digital body to corrupt into a glitchy monster explains why all abstracted players look identical
5:37 I think that’s far too of a reach. I don’t think Jax wants to abstract or abstract anyone. He just copes by being a bully and a jerk. I think of all the characters in the circus, he is the one who is most scared to be stuck alone. Probably too scared to get close to others.
That makes sense, because I keep thinking of that scene where they were talking about kaufmo’s funeral and Jax looked really sad or guilty before shaking it off and storming away. I hear he’s going to do something irredeemable in Tadc, but I wouldn’t think he would deliberately abstract people for funsies, assuming that the face he made implies something. I think he’d accidentally abstract someone, based on how he treats them in the series and local speculation, likely Gangle or ragatha, without considering the consequences.
I have a theory I would like to share: I have theory that Caine IS the exist. If he starts to glitch more and more he eventually could shut down the entire program. that way our main characters could go back home. Or worst case, the gang gets stuck in the digital circus and gets erased. ORR the program gets shuts down and it eventually reboot again and everything would be back to normal But if the gang DOSE get back, I fell like they would have no memorie of the digital circus since all their Memoire would be erased (like (almost) all their Memoire were erased when they got there, I believe they would also be erased if they got out)
This just makes me feel sorry for Caine, poor AI Guy is truly trying to make things fun for the other Characters... He just doesn't understand human needs. And in the process he's having these glitchy meltdowns which will end in a scary climax...
I believe his glitches were more related to him gaining full conciousness and trying to go beyond his functions: he first glitches when questioning his position as a level-maker, similar to gangle when people tell him they preffer him when he is sad. The second time is when he claims to be "the Boss", but he isnt the Boss, he is a program, obbeying and being limited to someone (he cannot manipulate the minds as long as they are not NPCs), and the Game tried to hard reset Caine, in order to stop him from becoming Rogue. Other option could be the abstracted not being deleted. They are put in the cellar, which is making the poligon counter go Up, and because the Game has to still track their thoughts (while Broken, they still have thoughts of their own, as Kingers wife has proven), which is starting to prove to much for the system. Also you forgot to mention the theme song Glitch, where the Game buffer during the "day after, day after, day after, day" being Pomni uploaded, and episode 2's IS most likely just a bug with the angles. I still believe Caine's "activities explaining" bug is a visual gag (its too different from other glitches) It could be to him still updating the list of players, verifying what Pomni as a character can actually do, or because Kaufmo was abstracting at this moment. Take your pick.
3:44 I honestly think when Caine was going to say "boss" it messed with his programming a bit, he instead probably was thinking subconsiously the word "Admin" that is very much so the boss of him, i.e. perhaps the creator. Maybe Caine subconsiously know who created him and its all this C&A surrounding him like the computer with the logo. Another step into this theory could take is Caine could be thinking of the DIFFERENT admins, the one who programmed and the management or higher powers of C&A that has their say of how the game is programmed, hell maybe even a video game director who has the clearance to go into the game's backend. 🤔
I've noticed that in the beginning of episode 4, after zooble mentioned the suggestion box, caine's voice didn't sound as exaggerated or excited. Almost like he was doubting himself and his adventures.
I originally thought Caine's Glitching in Ep 4 was just due to no one being around, like in modern video games but then I remembered that in Ep 1 he was perfectly fine.
I don't think the "glitching" in the most recent episode was actually him glitching out. It seems more like he just operates at a much faster speed when he is completely alone.
New headcannon: The Player Characters are just digital copies. Their physical selves, with all their memories intact, tried on the headset, couldn't get the game to work, and went on their way, while the digital copies are forever trapped in a degrading digital world.
Reminds me of that bit in Meta Runner where Theo's game is so glitched he has to team up with a pro-gamer in order to get to the end so the game will delete all the glitchy data and it'll go back to normal.
As a learning programmer, i have a theory on another problem this world that might be related to Caine's insisting on the characters all going in the adventures I think the the game is rendering too many graphics and too many objects at once In a videogame whatever is not being seen or interacted with is often not rendered so the game doesn't have to work with so many objects at once, this is called Culling I think that, internally/subconciously, Caine wants all people to be on the same "map" so the game can unload unused objects like the Circus for a while For example, in episode 2 the game was already working with multiple advanced AI characters + a whole map + the debug map beneath the normal map bc Pomni and Gumigoo are in it so it needs to be rendered + the circus area bc Zooble is there That's too many things to be loading up at the time since the game is supposedly made to only handle the Adventure So what i think it's happening is that, the game isn't able to properly unload entities to free up Memory, so the game isn't working at it's proper capacity during the adventures And i think there is smth taht is worsening the things, the Abstracted players If they are still considered as Players, you could make the case that they too are being used in the game's calculations of physics, map interactions, etc So even if Caine manages to take the whole gang in an adventure, the circus would not be able to be unloaded, adding to the problem And since players are not being unloaded bc they can't get out of the game, the game is always having to deal with more Entities and has no way of freeing up Memory effectively So that's my theory! Although ngl, i don't think the story will really go on this route as a explicit problem At best i think it will just exist in the background, i don't really see the story adressing this But it's a fun idea i have of thw way i interpret the story's situation is lol
It would be horrifyingif sudden lag spikes happened. But to not everyone at all and stuff. Like someone randomly freezes and stuff. (WAIT WHAT IF SOMEONE "DISCONNECTED" OR SOMETHING OPENING UO A BUNCH NEW THEORIES?)
Idk about shorter periods of time but what is apparent is he's constantly accumulating saved data he doesn't erase. Such as all the corrupted/abstracted people in the caller. Any game or system will eventually overload with data first resulting in glitches then a total crash
Caine is programmed to entertaine the users playing The Amazing Digital Circus. And as soon he sees they are not happy with his adventures at all, it defies his programming and he starts to break. It also seems like, since none of the users can leave the world, Caine isn't able to turn off and restart an updated cycle. Caine can't update as long as he can't turn of the game, and thereby himself. And soon, the server that keeps the game running is going to shut down due to malfunction, system errors and overheating because of processing issues.
It would be hilarious if Jax was trying to make Kaine glitch, and it seemed to work, but in the end he was just making these glitches on purpose because Jax seemed to enjoy them so much and he wasn't actually losing control at all, better yet feeling better than ever because he was successfully being entertaining
I also think jax is only doing this to try and get out of there himself, he only wants to crash it because then he could get out. But I don't think jax wants to genuinely hurt any of the others, like when he genuinely didn't meant to hit gangle in the face with the softball.
Caine glitches when he says the word "boss" and never finishes his sentence. He is programmed to run the Digital Circus, but his developers put precautionary measures on his AI model to keep it from thinking it is an omnipotent boss/creator. No commentary video has caught onto this, and I really thought it was the first assumption everyone would make.
Ever since the therapy scene in the last episode, Caine’s sole purpose was to make adventure around the clock to ensure that everyone participating was happy, it’s in his AI. So when he actually has real people play this adventures and when they say that they don’t like or want to play, it’s starts literally breaking him down
I wonder if Caine is going to keep punishments. Because he said "that's what my adventures were missing: motivation!". It makes me wonder if Caine is going to make them like his adventures by force.
I don't think I'd call it going abstract as I would him going rampant, a term I learned from Halo 4. And if it is like going rampant in Halo 4? God have mercy for the performers... Also, one of the poses is of a viral bootleg Caine, so that's hilarious.

When you talk about the game running longer than it’s supposed to, it reminds me of the Sims 3 where the world will start to freeze up after playing more than 1 in game year.

I both love and hate that I still don't have any solid theories for what's going on in this show. I think my best guess for now is that it's a massive malfunctioning VR system with a lot of trapped people (the abstracted) hooked up to it who would die if it was turned off. So the company that owns the VR sent some employees into the system to try to fix it from the inside, not realizing they'd get partial amnesia and get trapped themselves instead of fixing the problem. I think Jax was somebody from outside who hacked into the system, but still ran into the same issues and got trapped like everyone else. It's not a great theory, but everything else I've thought of so far has massive holes in it.
I have 2 theories about the glitching. 1: that C&A industries (the corporation assumedly responsible for the creation and mass production of the amazing digital circus) either branched off of the game or went bankrupt because of the computer/vr game and this specific copy of ADC is a particularly old one that malfunctioned and left the game as this inescapable digital prison which found it's way to its current prisoners 2: this one is kind of riding on the theory that jax is a hacker that was sent by C&A to shut down the game, as it entails that jax is cracking the coding of the game every chance he gets with the glitching being a side effect of him digging around
I think he either has memory issues because of the glitches or he wasn’t programmed to have long term memories such for emotions and deeper connections. I hope we get to explore more of his psyche
Something i noticed while also watching that scene, is that i think one of the "glitched poses" is a reference to the famous peter griffin pose? (you know the one)
We also like the fun easter eggs in Caine's recent glitch. For a couple of frames, he appears in one frame with a physique like that of an...infamous content farm, while in another frame he's doing the Family Guy Death pose

About the headsets, I wonder if they actually clone the players into the game. It would explain why they can't escape (wouldn't have a body to return to.) Plus, if it's going the 90's-early 00's route, the idea of literally going onto the web and jacking into computers was BIG, so I could see this as a company trying to make this a reality for a kid's game but failed during testing.
Geez, the way Caine is glitching in Episode 3 and Episode 4 of The Amazing Digital Circus May sound like funny moments, but apparently there's something going on with Caine like there's something wrong with him especially since his purpose is making adventures for the gang to go on.😬
The question I have is; Are the ACTUAL players stuck in the game, or did wearing the headset allow the system to map their personalities and create self aware avatars that BELIEVE they are actually human? If they are avatar clones of the human players, that would explain why they can't leave and gives Caine even more power over them.
Personally... My guess is that sure there's likely higher ups involved. Kinger and Queenie were involved in the creation of the entire circus project. Went in, likely with many other volunteers as a means to monitor things, but abstractions started happening. Even Queenie suffered that fate. All the while, Caine was an AI programmed to oversee everything and everyone. Now... There's a problem. As seen when those who Abstract interact with others or the circus surroundings, glitches occur. Caine sends them to the "basement" and while that SOUNDS fine in theory. It's basically a dumping ground of glitching and out of control minds. Think about how much strain that could put on any system to try to contain that constantly. Caine all the while is also having glitches, because as an AI he's either directly monitoring and therefore "learning" behavior from the abstractions or having his code subtely being influenced by their glitches. Think about. The biggest instances of his glitches occur when he is reflecting on himself.
Well if you ask me if say something really make Cain go that haywire, there could have been an emergency exit program for anyone that is still trapped in the circus with the right set of adventures that is.
I like to think that in the last episode cain is gonna have a really really big melt down and that game will just restarts and kicks everyone out and they just all wake up in real life perfectly fine.
I feel bad for Caine he thinks everyone likes his adventures but in reality everyone hates them so I have a theory, the digital circus must be destroyed in order to escape it so maybe by the end of the series maybe everyone will finally speak up and admit they hate his adventures he’ll eventually break and everything with glitch out the the game will be destroyed then the circus members will be free.
I have a feeling that, when you were talking about Jax trying to cause glitches, you may have hit the nail on the head... For Episode 6. If Caine continues to take suggestions, it'll only be a matter of time before Jax gets another go at it, and deliberately tries to cause an adventure that will glitch... Just one problem for Jax: Caine lives to please. So if Jax wants an adventure that he can glitch, he'll get a glitch-themed adventure where all of the chaos that ensues will actually be the intended feature. I've mentioned before how I think Jax is motivated, not by chaos or cruelty, but just by a sense of control that he gets from throwing things off of the linear path and into craziness, with the added benefit that Caine doesn't seem to care HOW they reach the end, only that they do. I mention this because, if Jax thinks he has set up an adventure that cannot be completed without it breaking the game, only to find out that absolutely NOTHING had glitched or deviated during the adventure and it was all explicitly programmed to look that way, that might break Jax more than anything else before, not just on the show, but ever in his entire life.
I’m genuinely confused by the take that Jax just wants everyone to abstract. “He seemed gleeful when Kaufmo abstracted” He ran, demonstrated fear, and showed a bit of sadness the following episode.
There could be an AI exploit that actually undoes Abstraction the players don’t know about except Caine, meaning he probably is trying to fix everything on a mass-scale, explaining the glitching and this process is extremely taxing on his programming and thus he put them in the “cellar” to placate them while he truly figures out how to undo the Abstractions on a large scale. He really does want to be a good boss but because of the sheer amount of Abstractions under the world, it makes sense all of those glitched players would cause him to freak out unintentionally because it is causing a lot more harm to him in the long run. The players are suffering due to the unfinished code the game is stuck with due to it being rushed to market by C&A. Also, if Jax is truly the only one trapped here by the end, he may very well Abstract and becomes trapped in a digital prison of his making if he had anything to do with how the game traps players as victims, being a malicious hacker of sorts and Caine may very well find out and be pissed at him for causing all this needless stress and pain on the players, thus punishing him by the end.
I dont think an AI can abstract, however glitching out could be the same thing as abstraction. To abstract, one character has to go completely insane, and caine isnt even close compared to all others
So i dont see this mentioned in theories or even at all, What actually IS abstracting? Like sure if you go insane you abstract but whats the REAL reason for this? Are the characters a representation of their mindset? Kinger as seen in episode 1 sort of "glitching" a lot. Or is it darker? Does a character abstract when they wish for nothing but death? If so is the proccess of abstracting the game trying to save memory? Removing the model of the character and slowly deleting their mind/memories? This would add up with how characters cant remember all things of their life maybe as a way to save memory? it DOES seem that containing several human conciousnesses in a videogame would be quite resource intensive especially on such an old computer after all. Is kinger a representation of how for a game of chess to continue a king must be alive? If kinger abstracted would everything crumble?
im not gonna lie, I really like the one episode a month deal for release. or is it two weeks? idk. but it gives you time to think on what you watched. more US shows should do this. you can also tell that they are able to do really good work with small details and animation. something massive shows and movies are currently dropping the ball on. all to say, they care about the story and animation of their show and it shows
I would like to believe that the gliches in first episodes relate to: -In the "day after day, after day, after day, after day" because pomni was being uploaded and the server was buffering with the addition of a new player. -The one where caine is naming the activities of the Circus i believe to be a visual gag, considering how different It IS from other glitches, but i could settle with Caine also buffering, due to updating the list of players, preparing a new adventure, and maybe even Kaufmo abstracting as he is speaking.
The problem is AI in the adventures are now more advanced than himself the reason he was able to understand the other NPC is because he’s not like the others he’s just a raw AI not built to be a character he just took on whatever form he wanted to he created himself and then injected himself into himself if that makes sense
as horrible as jax can be almost all the time, i dont think he would break caine in order to hunt the others down like a serial killer. i do think he would try to break caine but more out of curiosity and desperation for something that might lead to escape or just something different than the usual adventures. jax seems more insecure than evil especially after episode 4
I personally do not think Jax WANTS people to abstract, though he does push people for sure. I think he's (for now) just a guy who copes with the circus by being an absolute menace, and does his best to ignore that there may be consequences. The 4th episode makes that more blatant to me. After all, why not EXPLOIT Gangle losing her mind? Instead, he deflates, becoming so tired that he even tries to have a normal conversation with Pomni instead of being a jerk.
I more think of a Jax malicious, benevolent God and Cain as the he in charge of the boring stuff, but he gets to play around with the “little character” as he calls it
I really hope Caine isn't secretly an evil AI. I'm just not a fan of that trope. Rather, I like the idea that he's an AI meant for a kids game being pushed way beyond his limits to keep various people alive. I like heroic sacrifices and people pushing themselves beyond their limits for others, and I really like it when someone (or something) unexpectedly does it. Like, the little bot that could. 😅

I feel like Gangle accidentally made the adventures more terrifying for the group when she introduced the idea of punishment for bad play to Caine as he admits that that’s what his adventures lacked, motivation, and he may do this sort of stuff in the future to get everyone to participate in the adventures

What's interesting is that Caine's AI seems less flexible than some other NPCs. He can't really adapt to taking care of the trapped humans and just treats them like normal players, by contrast Gummigoo was able to handle the revelation that his whole world wasn't real and keep going afterwards (well, until Caine smoked him.)
Caine did say he was using a new ai system probably more advanced than he is ironically enough

It could be that caine is hard coded and can't really evolved. The other NPC appears to be unrestrained.

I wouldn't say it would literally be abstraction, but I'd say since it'd be a mental breakdown that'll lead to them corrupting and destroying themselves and the world around them, you would be technically correct (the best kind of correct!) to call it abstraction
the gooseworx paradox: If the closest character to abstraction isnt who we think it is then if we think it is them it cant be them. If everyone thinks its a different character then nobody is close to abtraction. But there needs to be someone closest to abstraction, leading into a loop.

What if Caine isn't an AI?
I do feel bad for Caine. Even though he is unintentionally causing his guests to endure torture, he is just an AI. And like any good AI, he follows his programming.
You’ll notice the circus grounds haven’t been acknowledged ever since the pilot. This makes me think that overtime, Caine had to go off script for his adventures when he started to become sentient.
I am excited and curious to how the series finale will play out.

in addition the two major glitches Caine had both relate to how he's doing as a gameshow host.

she criticized the time era of the CCK in episode 2, she was infuriated with the roadblocking and mechanics of episode 3 haunted manor, and in episode 4 she outright said to his face that no one was interested in his adventure while also contesting him to switch themes from horror to... well let's be honest working at a fast food joint really is a type of torture.
so my personal prediction is that in the end of episode 6 or 7 Pomni will just snap at Caine, telling him how everyone actually feels and their true experiences a thing she will be able to attest to because she saw/gonna see EVERYONE except Caine have a sort of crack, herself and Koufmo in episode 1, Zooble always attempting to skip the adventures, Gummigoo representing the NPCs in episode 2, Kinger in episode 3, Gangle in episode 4 and she's gonna experience Ragatha and Jax's struggles in episodes 5 and 6, this would only leave Caine and Bubble (which is probably a part of Caine as his Co-host)

The reason that Caine glitches out horribly in both episodes 3 and 4 is because he enters a logic loop caused by the Liar's Paradox. By stating something in a factual manner that is blatantly false, he's subjecting himself to the computer equivalent of a mental breakdown.

My personal theory is that Caine's Glitching and trouble remembering things is due to Data Loss.
The computer the digital circus runs on is probably getting older, and as it ages it loses power AND memory. Leading to Caine progressively having less and less resources to keep the game and himself running at full capacity.
Since the digital circus is implied to have been running for years since there's so many doors, we might be in the later stages where he might be using close to 100% of what's available to him. He might be starting to cut corners as he realizes he has less memory to work with, deleting unused NPCs and even pieces of his memory so he can keep creating the adventures at full capacity. Since we know how much he values his adventures, he might be sacrificing his own brainpower to be able to keep the adventures as good as they were before
I always thought it was because he took what zooble said literally. if you told an ai you were going to slug them, even if you were friends with them or something, they'd be scared. You have to SAY it's sarcasm. but zooble just says "forget it." after venting about her body, so caine does just that, forget

I wonder if someone, like developer, will notice that Caine is glitching all over the place. As they attempt to fix him, they reset the game, not knowing the players are sentient people.

I was just thinking about that. If these are game developers, shouldn't they be looking to fix Caine's glitches, or even change the code of the game to let them out. And I've noticed that while immersed in work, memories of the cast seem to slip out.

Here’s a theory what if Cain is a human who went crazy like kinger and convinced himself he was an npc but was actually the admin which is why he can do what he does
Unfortunately, Gooseworx has confirmed that Caine *is* an AI
Generally the rule with programming is that the more systems you have the more likely glitches are going to occur. Caine doesn't just make new environments. He makes new npcs, new kinds of npcs for that matter, new scripts, new models, etc. and it's implied that all that stuff continues to exist in the background even if it's not being used. So he's just stacking layers and putting a strain on the games limits it seems. Especially if Gummigoo actually does remember Pomni, because that means Caine is possibly keeping save states, possibly multiple, for each npc and as we've seen, there's a lot of npcs. He's probably only maintaining the world because he feels it's worth it and would be willing to toss it in the trash like a typical disgruntled artist would if they hit their limit with a project.

Theory: when someone abstracts, what if caine puts them into the cellar (or whatever its called) and later turns them into an NPC like erasing their memory of being human and forgetting about what the circus is and then possibly giving them a new body/model

Something else I've noticed is how much more involved Caine is getting with the adventures. I'm pretty sure his hands were what grabbed Jax for his punishment.
We don't have full context of what happens before the show starts, but he clearly has a vested interest in keeping everyone stimulated with the adventures. I think what prompted the horror adventure is that Zooble maybe said they were getting too childish, and Caine took that as them wanting more mature themes in the adventures hence "mature Zoobles only".
And Kaufmo abstracting seemed to affect him more than we see because he's desperately trying to make everyone happy by accommodating their suggestions because he doesn't want to lose anyone else.
But there's a part of him that knows it isn't working. It's breaking him.

Honestly yeah Caine does come across as a computer program that’s very advanced and very powerful but with definite limitations in what it knows and more importantly what it can do. He can mimic a lot of things from the real world like a burger joint or a haunted house but he doesn’t fully grasp or understand the nuances of these things and so they quickly become distorted and warped. Like for example the syrup bandits level having clashing themes of Fantasy, Westerns and Mad Max of all things and the burger joint quickly devolves into nonsense with narcotic sauces, neurotic patrons and the players just trying their best to get thru it.
I feel like that if Caine glitches will result in abstracted beings breaking free. In episode 3, everything was seemingly deleting and reappearing, then deleting. Who knows if the glitching didn’t happen down at the pit? I think zooble unknowingly stopped an outbreak that not even Caine would be able to just handle. There would be so many that Caine, especially after the break down, wouldn’t be able to just recontain just like that. I think the last two episodes will be based in trying to survive the abstracted outbreak.

As this could be downloading people into the circus, a Sword Art Online situation with no way out, or they are digital flash point copies of the originals meaning the real people are just fine and walking about with their flash template/memory trapped within the game.

It would be crazy that in the end of the series, it would show Caine almost glitching out into abstraction just like the players because of how long he's been trying to learn how to be like them but instead it caused him to start copying the wrong parts of a human and not understanding the actual needs of his players as he only knew how to make levels for a short but not longer duration of time.
I feel bad for caine, he actually cares for his guests, even tough he doesn't seem to and he's not getting any positive comments of his work, his only purpose and job is to keep people entertained and everyone seems to hate him and he is not even able to understand why cuz he's not even human!
But the backlash from his guests are starting to affect him and we see that now
Before too late they need to realize what impact they have on their host, the literal machine with a mind of it's own might began to fall on selfdoubt and it's not even it's fault

Part of me thinks the abstractions are why hes glitching. His stress is high, and the abstractions also kind of a manifeststion of his failures (not keeping the guests happy) and the abstracted are just thrown in a dark pit which cant br good for a computer game, and maybe the over saturation of the abstractions are causing his programs to work harder and that is going to manifest as a meltdown.

If the circus was programmed/reprogrammed to be a prison of suffering, then the system would only work if Caine has full control and the characters aren’t fighting back and accepting their fates
But now with Pomni (and her therapy like influence), the players are starting not to “suffer” as much and actually feel cared for or hopeful. This is against the game itself (or whoever made it this way) and possibly why it’s breaking

5:37 I think that’s far too of a reach. I don’t think Jax wants to abstract or abstract anyone. He just copes by being a bully and a jerk. I think of all the characters in the circus, he is the one who is most scared to be stuck alone. Probably too scared to get close to others.
That makes sense, because I keep thinking of that scene where they were talking about kaufmo’s funeral and Jax looked really sad or guilty before shaking it off and storming away. I hear he’s going to do something irredeemable in Tadc, but I wouldn’t think he would deliberately abstract people for funsies, assuming that the face he made implies something. I think he’d accidentally abstract someone, based on how he treats them in the series and local speculation, likely Gangle or ragatha, without considering the consequences.
I have a theory I would like to share: I have theory that Caine IS the exist. If he starts to glitch more and more he eventually could shut down the entire program. that way our main characters could go back home.
Or worst case, the gang gets stuck in the digital circus and gets erased.
ORR the program gets shuts down and it eventually reboot again and everything would be back to normal
But if the gang DOSE get back, I fell like they would have no memorie of the digital circus since all their Memoire would be erased (like (almost) all their Memoire were erased when they got there, I believe they would also be erased if they got out)
I hope Pomni will do 'The talk' with Caine too, like she did with GummyGoo and Kinger.

This just makes me feel sorry for Caine, poor AI Guy is truly trying to make things fun for the other Characters... He just doesn't understand human needs. And in the process he's having these glitchy meltdowns which will end in a scary climax...
I believe his glitches were more related to him gaining full conciousness and trying to go beyond his functions: he first glitches when questioning his position as a level-maker, similar to gangle when people tell him they preffer him when he is sad. The second time is when he claims to be "the Boss", but he isnt the Boss, he is a program, obbeying and being limited to someone (he cannot manipulate the minds as long as they are not NPCs), and the Game tried to hard reset Caine, in order to stop him from becoming Rogue.
Other option could be the abstracted not being deleted. They are put in the cellar, which is making the poligon counter go Up, and because the Game has to still track their thoughts (while Broken, they still have thoughts of their own, as Kingers wife has proven), which is starting to prove to much for the system.
Also you forgot to mention the theme song Glitch, where the Game buffer during the "day after, day after, day after, day" being Pomni uploaded, and episode 2's IS most likely just a bug with the angles.
I still believe Caine's "activities explaining" bug is a visual gag (its too different from other glitches) It could be to him still updating the list of players, verifying what Pomni as a character can actually do, or because Kaufmo was abstracting at this moment. Take your pick.

I've noticed that in the beginning of episode 4, after zooble mentioned the suggestion box, caine's voice didn't sound as exaggerated or excited. Almost like he was doubting himself and his adventures.
He was a tad more chill this episode. I was suprised he was kinda calm during the evaluation with Gangle!
I originally thought Caine's Glitching in Ep 4 was just due to no one being around, like in modern video games but then I remembered that in Ep 1 he was perfectly fine.

I don't think the "glitching" in the most recent episode was actually him glitching out. It seems more like he just operates at a much faster speed when he is completely alone.
New headcannon: The Player Characters are just digital copies. Their physical selves, with all their memories intact, tried on the headset, couldn't get the game to work, and went on their way, while the digital copies are forever trapped in a degrading digital world.

As a learning programmer, i have a theory on another problem this world that might be related to Caine's insisting on the characters all going in the adventures
I think the the game is rendering too many graphics and too many objects at once
In a videogame whatever is not being seen or interacted with is often not rendered so the game doesn't have to work with so many objects at once, this is called Culling
I think that, internally/subconciously, Caine wants all people to be on the same "map" so the game can unload unused objects like the Circus for a while
For example, in episode 2 the game was already working with multiple advanced AI characters + a whole map + the debug map beneath the normal map bc Pomni and Gumigoo are in it so it needs to be rendered + the circus area bc Zooble is there
That's too many things to be loading up at the time since the game is supposedly made to only handle the Adventure
So what i think it's happening is that, the game isn't able to properly unload entities to free up Memory, so the game isn't working at it's proper capacity during the adventures
And i think there is smth taht is worsening the things, the Abstracted players
If they are still considered as Players, you could make the case that they too are being used in the game's calculations of physics, map interactions, etc
So even if Caine manages to take the whole gang in an adventure, the circus would not be able to be unloaded, adding to the problem
And since players are not being unloaded bc they can't get out of the game, the game is always having to deal with more Entities and has no way of freeing up Memory effectively
So that's my theory! Although ngl, i don't think the story will really go on this route as a explicit problem

Idk about shorter periods of time but what is apparent is he's constantly accumulating saved data he doesn't erase. Such as all the corrupted/abstracted people in the caller. Any game or system will eventually overload with data first resulting in glitches then a total crash
Caine is programmed to entertaine the users playing The Amazing Digital Circus. And as soon he sees they are not happy with his adventures at all, it defies his programming and he starts to break. It also seems like, since none of the users can leave the world, Caine isn't able to turn off and restart an updated cycle. Caine can't update as long as he can't turn of the game, and thereby himself. And soon, the server that keeps the game running is going to shut down due to malfunction, system errors and overheating because of processing issues.
It would be hilarious if Jax was trying to make Kaine glitch, and it seemed to work, but in the end he was just making these glitches on purpose because Jax seemed to enjoy them so much and he wasn't actually losing control at all, better yet feeling better than ever because he was successfully being entertaining
I also think jax is only doing this to try and get out of there himself, he only wants to crash it because then he could get out. But I don't think jax wants to genuinely hurt any of the others, like when he genuinely didn't meant to hit gangle in the face with the softball.
Caine glitches when he says the word "boss" and never finishes his sentence. He is programmed to run the Digital Circus, but his developers put precautionary measures on his AI model to keep it from thinking it is an omnipotent boss/creator. No commentary video has caught onto this, and I really thought it was the first assumption everyone would make.

Ever since the therapy scene in the last episode, Caine’s sole purpose was to make adventure around the clock to ensure that everyone participating was happy, it’s in his AI. So when he actually has real people play this adventures and when they say that they don’t like or want to play, it’s starts literally breaking him down
I wonder if Caine is going to keep punishments. Because he said "that's what my adventures were missing: motivation!". It makes me wonder if Caine is going to make them like his adventures by force.
I don't think I'd call it going abstract as I would him going rampant, a term I learned from Halo 4. And if it is like going rampant in Halo 4? God have mercy for the performers... Also, one of the poses is of a viral bootleg Caine, so that's hilarious.
I couldn't help but notice the number 57 appeared a few times... I can't help but feel like that the number has some sort if significants in the series.
When you talk about the game running longer than it’s supposed to, it reminds me of the Sims 3 where the world will start to freeze up after playing more than 1 in game year.

I both love and hate that I still don't have any solid theories for what's going on in this show. I think my best guess for now is that it's a massive malfunctioning VR system with a lot of trapped people (the abstracted) hooked up to it who would die if it was turned off. So the company that owns the VR sent some employees into the system to try to fix it from the inside, not realizing they'd get partial amnesia and get trapped themselves instead of fixing the problem. I think Jax was somebody from outside who hacked into the system, but still ran into the same issues and got trapped like everyone else. It's not a great theory, but everything else I've thought of so far has massive holes in it.
I have 2 theories about the glitching.
1: that C&A industries (the corporation assumedly responsible for the creation and mass production of the amazing digital circus) either branched off of the game or went bankrupt because of the computer/vr game and this specific copy of ADC is a particularly old one that malfunctioned and left the game as this inescapable digital prison which found it's way to its current prisoners
2: this one is kind of riding on the theory that jax is a hacker that was sent by C&A to shut down the game, as it entails that jax is cracking the coding of the game every chance he gets with the glitching being a side effect of him digging around
I think he either has memory issues because of the glitches or he wasn’t programmed to have long term memories such for emotions and deeper connections. I hope we get to explore more of his psyche
Something i noticed while also watching that scene, is that i think one of the "glitched poses" is a reference to the famous peter griffin pose? (you know the one)
We also like the fun easter eggs in Caine's recent glitch. For a couple of frames, he appears in one frame with a physique like that of an...infamous content farm, while in another frame he's doing the Family Guy Death pose
What worries me is that what will happen if he gets angry.
Or when he stops liking one of the circus members...Or all of them
I think that perhaps if Cain glitches hard enough, he's gonna crash the whole circus and knock everyone out.
First episode’s glitches contains corruption
Second episode has collision glitches
Third one had momentary cure option with immediate restoration
And in the fourth episode, Cain just has 1000ping
So basically Jax wants to be a gamer that uses hacks and exploits
About the headsets, I wonder if they actually clone the players into the game. It would explain why they can't escape (wouldn't have a body to return to.) Plus, if it's going the 90's-early 00's route, the idea of literally going onto the web and jacking into computers was BIG, so I could see this as a company trying to make this a reality for a kid's game but failed during testing.
I TOTALLY disagree with Jax wanting to cause everyone to abstract. Why would he want to be completely alone with no one to torment?
Geez, the way Caine is glitching in Episode 3 and Episode 4 of The Amazing Digital Circus May sound like funny moments, but apparently there's something going on with Caine like there's something wrong with him especially since his purpose is making adventures for the gang to go on.😬
The question I have is; Are the ACTUAL players stuck in the game, or did wearing the headset allow the system to map their personalities and create self aware avatars that BELIEVE they are actually human? If they are avatar clones of the human players, that would explain why they can't leave and gives Caine even more power over them.
Personally... My guess is that sure there's likely higher ups involved. Kinger and Queenie were involved in the creation of the entire circus project. Went in, likely with many other volunteers as a means to monitor things, but abstractions started happening. Even Queenie suffered that fate. All the while, Caine was an AI programmed to oversee everything and everyone. Now... There's a problem. As seen when those who Abstract interact with others or the circus surroundings, glitches occur. Caine sends them to the "basement" and while that SOUNDS fine in theory. It's basically a dumping ground of glitching and out of control minds. Think about how much strain that could put on any system to try to contain that constantly. Caine all the while is also having glitches, because as an AI he's either directly monitoring and therefore "learning" behavior from the abstractions or having his code subtely being influenced by their glitches. Think about. The biggest instances of his glitches occur when he is reflecting on himself.
Man I think 8 episodes is not enough for this show! I wonder if we'll ever see these characters human designs if ever
Well if you ask me if say something really make Cain go that haywire, there could have been an emergency exit program for anyone that is still trapped in the circus with the right set of adventures that is.
I like to think that in the last episode cain is gonna have a really really big melt down and that game will just restarts and kicks everyone out and they just all wake up in real life perfectly fine.
I feel bad for Caine he thinks everyone likes his adventures but in reality everyone hates them so I have a theory, the digital circus must be destroyed in order to escape it so maybe by the end of the series maybe everyone will finally speak up and admit they hate his adventures he’ll eventually break and everything with glitch out the the game will be destroyed then the circus members will be free.
I have a feeling that, when you were talking about Jax trying to cause glitches, you may have hit the nail on the head...
For Episode 6.
If Caine continues to take suggestions, it'll only be a matter of time before Jax gets another go at it, and deliberately tries to cause an adventure that will glitch...
Just one problem for Jax: Caine lives to please. So if Jax wants an adventure that he can glitch, he'll get a glitch-themed adventure where all of the chaos that ensues will actually be the intended feature.
I've mentioned before how I think Jax is motivated, not by chaos or cruelty, but just by a sense of control that he gets from throwing things off of the linear path and into craziness, with the added benefit that Caine doesn't seem to care HOW they reach the end, only that they do.
I mention this because, if Jax thinks he has set up an adventure that cannot be completed without it breaking the game, only to find out that absolutely NOTHING had glitched or deviated during the adventure and it was all explicitly programmed to look that way, that might break Jax more than anything else before, not just on the show, but ever in his entire life.
God i wish this show got more seasons. The story they want to tel needs atleast 2 season's
I feel Caine isn't an AI, just the first person who got sucked into the circus and went mad with no one interacting with.
That funny glitch is a reference to one of the horrible cosplays that Memo Aponte made in his parody of the series.
I’m genuinely confused by the take that Jax just wants everyone to abstract.

He ran, demonstrated fear, and showed a bit of sadness the following episode.
There could be an AI exploit that actually undoes Abstraction the players don’t know about except Caine, meaning he probably is trying to fix everything on a mass-scale, explaining the glitching and this process is extremely taxing on his programming and thus he put them in the “cellar” to placate them while he truly figures out how to undo the Abstractions on a large scale.
He really does want to be a good boss but because of the sheer amount of Abstractions under the world, it makes sense all of those glitched players would cause him to freak out unintentionally because it is causing a lot more harm to him in the long run.
The players are suffering due to the unfinished code the game is stuck with due to it being rushed to market by C&A.
Also, if Jax is truly the only one trapped here by the end, he may very well Abstract and becomes trapped in a digital prison of his making if he had anything to do with how the game traps players as victims, being a malicious hacker of sorts and Caine may very well find out and be pissed at him for causing all this needless stress and pain on the players, thus punishing him by the end.

I dont think an AI can abstract, however glitching out could be the same thing as abstraction. To abstract, one character has to go completely insane, and caine isnt even close compared to all others
So i dont see this mentioned in theories or even at all, What actually IS abstracting? Like sure if you go insane you abstract but whats the REAL reason for this? Are the characters a representation of their mindset? Kinger as seen in episode 1 sort of "glitching" a lot.
Or is it darker? Does a character abstract when they wish for nothing but death? If so is the proccess of abstracting the game trying to save memory? Removing the model of the character and slowly deleting their mind/memories? This would add up with how characters cant remember all things of their life maybe as a way to save memory? it DOES seem that containing several human conciousnesses in a videogame would be quite resource intensive especially on such an old computer after all.
Is kinger a representation of how for a game of chess to continue a king must be alive? If kinger abstracted would everything crumble?
im not gonna lie, I really like the one episode a month deal for release. or is it two weeks? idk. but it gives you time to think on what you watched. more US shows should do this. you can also tell that they are able to do really good work with small details and animation. something massive shows and movies are currently dropping the ball on. all to say, they care about the story and animation of their show and it shows
I would like to believe that the gliches in first episodes relate to:
-In the "day after day, after day, after day, after day" because pomni was being uploaded and the server was buffering with the addition of a new player.
-The one where caine is naming the activities of the Circus i believe to be a visual gag, considering how different It IS from other glitches, but i could settle with Caine also buffering, due to updating the list of players, preparing a new adventure, and maybe even Kaufmo abstracting as he is speaking.

The problem is AI in the adventures are now more advanced than himself the reason he was able to understand the other NPC is because he’s not like the others he’s just a raw AI not built to be a character he just took on whatever form he wanted to he created himself and then injected himself into himself if that makes sense
as horrible as jax can be almost all the time, i dont think he would break caine in order to hunt the others down like a serial killer. i do think he would try to break caine but more out of curiosity and desperation for something that might lead to escape or just something different than the usual adventures. jax seems more insecure than evil especially after episode 4
I personally do not think Jax WANTS people to abstract, though he does push people for sure. I think he's (for now) just a guy who copes with the circus by being an absolute menace, and does his best to ignore that there may be consequences. The 4th episode makes that more blatant to me. After all, why not EXPLOIT Gangle losing her mind? Instead, he deflates, becoming so tired that he even tries to have a normal conversation with Pomni instead of being a jerk.
I more think of a Jax malicious, benevolent God and Cain as the he in charge of the boring stuff, but he gets to play around with the “little character” as he calls it
I really hope Caine isn't secretly an evil AI. I'm just not a fan of that trope. Rather, I like the idea that he's an AI meant for a kids game being pushed way beyond his limits to keep various people alive. I like heroic sacrifices and people pushing themselves beyond their limits for others, and I really like it when someone (or something) unexpectedly does it. Like, the little bot that could. 😅
Imagine the gang actually talking to Cain and he listens.
Would be cool if Cain has to join them on an adventure it will be very weird to see him walk but maybe show a split personality
