2 things I noticed/believe 1. I don't think Amanda's monster even kills Joanne in the bad ending just because of how "vocal" we hear her die in the good ending to wooly. In the bad ending Joanne mainly sounds like she's struggling against Amanda but not being killed. And 2. I just thought it was a funny thing with the whole "wolf in sheep's clothing" thing, woolys monster actually howls throughout the game. When you give Amanda's monster a toy she only stops killing you because it heard an howl.
Also the day Kate died, she thought Joanne was dead because a monster attacked her. It's presumably the Amanda monster because it was at her house with Riley, and Joanne was able to escape with only a scratch on her face.
I'd like to mention that NO ONE has mentioned that when Amanda monster attacks in the "When Your Feeling Bad" tape, Woolys eyes disappear and he freezes. Amanda can see the command the monster, and we know Wooly can see and interact with the world from the tapes, reacting to our choices. But he *DOESNT* react at all to the monster. Only once the monster stops trying to attack and retreats into the corner does Wooly come back
I always took that as amanda controlling wooly so he doesnt notice the monster and maybe diverting him from aggravating it given that it hardly listens to amanda in the first place (including us making a bond with her throughout the game)
Also, when Wooly says that the neighbourhood feels cozy and safe, Amanda goes "Does it, Wooly?" very sarcastically, with the tone of a person who questions someone while already knowing that they are lying. Same with the moment when Wooly tries to stop her from going into the alley, she also answers him with sarcasm, reminding him how he lied to her. The whole tape is about trust and how Amanda can't trust anyone, and how everyone is able to potentially hurt her. The sadness on Wooly face and him pleading to not talk about the subject of trust is very telling and I think it also fits this theory
On top of this, in that tape amanda asks if there’s anyone the player trusts. If the player answers wooly, she says she once trusted him but not anymore or something like that.
I always considered Wooly a “Medical Puppet” to make Rebecca feel better, but she was having none of it. The fact that he trys to convince her with lines of “but I’m your best friend” to where she gets mad at him for keeping her there. He’s also the one to push going on adventures. (Like every adventure is just a bedside game of pretend.) Also when we fix his eye, it’s a googely eye. There’s also the fact that she destoryed the Wooly Plushie and the acheviement was akin to anger management. She hates Wooly, and she hates being there, and Wooly the medical puppet is there to distract her and keep her sidated.
i agree with this take and i believe ash does as well. when watching them play, ash was making many remarks as to how wooly has a lot of medical themes. theres a lot of medical imagery and callbacks. one of the books is by dr malpractice. i also want to point out that cotton is used a lot in medical settings. also, a pediatrician is always going to try to make their child patients feel better, they dont want medicine to be a scary experience for children. i believe more that wooly was a hameln pediatrician that was hired on under a false pretense, just as Sam was. i interpret the scene of wooly saying "i cant take this anymore!" as a cry for help and guilt from the contract he signed and the position he put himself into, these children are haunting him. if the opossum is jordan, him trying to attack wooly would make sense as well. wooly being a pediatrician and the one administering the treatments to him, of course jordan/opossum would attack him
@@JennyShull The Opossum never does serious damage to Amanda though; he's more just a nuisance. When he goes after Wooly though the Opossum tears Wooly's eye out. @valeforedark The demon may well be a side effect of how he and Amanda enter the tapes. The opossum doesn't have the same kind of sentience that Amanda and Wooly have despite also being trapped; I presume Wooly went through the same kind of demonic contract ritual that Amanda did in order to maintain sentience, so he also has a demon version roaming the real world.
The live actors in this game are genuinely so good. The way sam's actor is able to convey the conflict in his eyes and expression ON TOP of tone of voice is beautiful. The tension and restriction in his voice is perfect for the scene. Stay safe ❤❤❤
21:15 Amanda reacts negatively when real traumatic events are represented to her in some form. So there is no way she'd feel better by hearing something that traumatized her, i think she just enjoys the chaos of that story.
That element of winning over Amanda and earning her trust carries through so much of this game. Like if you answer "meatman" or "butcher" at certain moments, she'll flip out (I think she even says "what an awful thing to say to me") and either eject the tape or softlock the game so you have to load a save, right? Our actions and whether we operate in a trustworthy manner are taken into account by Amanda. Even when we get it wrong (like in the storybook tape), Amanda still advocates for us based on our previous actions.
There's one thing i want to point out about Wooly's lore. In the very famous When You're Feeling Bad tape, when Wooly asks you about your favorite kind of story, if you put in "scary/horror" pretty interesting things happen. He says "t-those kind of stories are too scary for me-" then suddenly there are some flashing images of i don't know exactly Lol, i think they were hanged meat, then usual image comes back but Wooly is blurred with him screaming "NO!", some other flashbacks, then it comes back to usual as Wooly breats heavily saying "I wish i hadn't asked..." THAT is interesting.
@@Numbeeonesimpmaybe he’s also scared of …The Meatman. I mean, his nickname is literally butcher. I believe he is another trapped kid, because afterwards a door jars open. A portal perhaps?
@@kubranurerdem9196 so i think since he had gotten there somehow he must've had the same surgical trauma as amanda , with the butcher or meatman being a reference to the surgeon .
I was going to say this, I believe Wooly was an older actor hired by Hamlin to play the role of Wooly. Sam would've played Wooly, but it would be easier for Hamlin to manipulate Rebecca if Sam wasn't around.
this thread got me thinking, I wonder if the butcher/meatman allusion to being a surgeon/doctor is related to why the kids' souls have to stay in the tapes. perhaps he and the rest of hameln cannabalized their bodies, treating them as actual meat, making the tapes the only place their souls can "live on." i think this because paired with the butcher/meatman, there's always photos/media of realistic looking meat one might see in a butcher's shop. or perhaps as a surgeon, he's found a way to "surgically" (or otherwise) separate their souls from their bodies. or maybe there is no cannibalism and he's just called the butcher/meatman because his surgery was basically malpractice/treated them like he as chopping meat. anyway, i don't think wooly is a kid based off how his voice sounds, and I also don't think he's Sam. I think he's a victim like Amanda, but is being coerced into keeping her at bay.
if you watch the video footage of her again, the voice of the doctor is the exact same voice that wooly has… i don’t think wooly is sam, i think wooly is the doctor that was watching her vitals
I'm honestly still aboard the "Wooly is the morally-gray Neuroscientist/doctor that transferred Rebecca's consciousness into the tapes" train. And I say "morally-gray" because he seems to somewhat care for the little girl he's being forced to experiment on, but he's also just another one of Hameln's puppets so he can't quite go against what they want him to do.
same here. i think wooly was a hameln employee who recorded the secret tapes of hameln (like the one with rebecca in a hospital like room) and was punished for it. edit: just something i remembered, the investigators in the secret tape mentioned that hameln could also be a cult, so its possible that wooly was a person brainwashed and manipulated into the cult as well as many others who may be working for hameln.
@@tulip135 I think the ones actually do the surgeries and transfer her was the butcher or the meat man. But I feel like the rest of this is correct. He seems like he's a dude who's just trying to do the best he can but he is a true believer in whatever Hamlin's cause is.
Yeah Im on that train too, it makes sense as well to say he's a sheep for Hameln too, as opposed to when we were saying he was a sheep going along with Amanda.
That isn’t how the story that Amanda drew goes, the knight quote, ‘had to leave’, she goes to the wizard to ask him to help her find him, the wizard turns her into a dragon, and she finds the knight, the knight unknowingly kills the princess and she goes back to normal, and the knight grieves and decides to wander the world forever. It actually reminds me a lot of a ‘black’ or dark knight sort of story, a knight who broke his vow unknowingly and punishes himself for it.
Kate was most likely the princess that got turned into a Dragon since she has a dragon icon on her computer and was the Librarian at least that is what I always believed since there were hints that pointed to Kate being the Dragon which is why Amanda was happy about the tragic ending of the Dragon she probably saw Kate as a betrayer.
@@kittycarla6695 i wouldnt say amanda saw kate as a betrayer. Amanda TRUSTS kate, she literally said so herself, also she says things like "I wish i could still see her" or something like that when you type kate in one of the tapes. so i disagree with your theory. But i do think the dragon icon is interesting, i never noticed that.
Amanda is the Knight. Amanda “had to leave” Sam is the princess that goes to the wizard (Hameln) to ask for help in getting Amanda back. The wizard turns the “princess” into a “monster” (turns Sam into a demon as well) Then he finds Amanda because he’s in the show with her and the knight (Amanda) somehow ends up killing Sam and that’s why his clothes were buried. Maybe his death is how he ended up in the show. He’s also afraid of the butcher tho so hmm, anyways Amanda grieves and ends up staying trapped in the world (the tapes) forever as well as Sam… idk but reversing the roles somehow is making some kind of sense to me 😭 alsooo there’s a hidden Cipher message that translates to “He tried to find me” (princess tried to find the Knight, Sam tried to find Rebecca) Maybe Sam is dead because he’s not being kept alive by being hooked up to the Machine like Rebecca and that’s why she hates Wooly because he’s just a demon now, unlike her who has control over her demon because she’s still alive.
@Ms.Divine2024 yes, but I am talking about what Amanda had said in "do you feel safe?" tape If you type Sam after Amanda asks you who is someone you trust, she will say "He was trusting, too. And that can be a mistake."
@@IllustraRavenyoure misunderstanding the sentence. Amanda means that Sam is overly trusting/too quick to trust and that ended up being a mistake, as he trusted hamln at first Not that trusting sam itself was a mistake. Youre mistaking the one with wooly, where she said that she used to trust wooly too but doesn't anymore
@@Ozdical i didn't misunderstand the sentence. It is just that didn't specify what I commented 😭. It is just that I never didn't expect it to hear that from Amanda, which is sad for me. And I don't know that after what happened to her for 15 years, she is willing to trust him again.
7:50 I think maybe Amanda/Rebecca is protecting the other trapped souls, and her reasons for escape are more centered around the fact that she has a body to return to. The other kids just disappeared entirely, but Rebecca’s body is still out there. So if she’s let out, she has somewhere to go, but the souls of the other kids don’t, so she’s keeping them safe.
or possibly she doesn't want them to escape because the body she has is hooked up to machinery and quite literally rotting. their bodies could be "gone" but we don't know where gone is.
I think that if anything, the sequel tried to make Wooly seem more antagonistic, so revealing him to be Sam would be odd. all the evidence is pointing towards him being an employee who maybe cares a bit more about Rebecca than the rest of Hameln but is still trying to do his job and keep her at bay.
That makes sense except for Tom's point about Sam having gotten Rebecca killed while trying to save her, and now prefers to try and cover up the bad thoughts and reminders of what he did because this is the only way he can be with her now. Instead of Sam being a 100% good force in the game and that's why he can't be Wooly, instead we're supposed to start considering the possibility that Sam, for all he never meant bad, has started to do the wrong thing willingly after everything Hamlyn put them through, that he's not the shining beacon of hope and a happy ending for Amanda, he's now part of the problem as Wooly. If you look at it like that, it makes complete sense to start by introducing us to Amanda and Wooly's dynamic like in the first game where he's trying to help and gets victimised to demonstrate how Amanda isn't right in the head anymore and connect her violence with the demons. Then in the 2nd game it gets to be a revelation that Wooly definitely isn't doing what's best for Amanda even if he might think he is, same as how it's a twist that the demon may not be the evil force in the narrative even though it kills us a lot. If it does turn out that he's Sam, we will have had a similar journey with our perspective on him, going from thinking he's good for this poor girl to realising he's not even if he doesn't mean to be.
They did this because Sam's character isn't black and white. His motivations and situation are complex. He's both Hamelin's pawn and Rebecca's desperate father. Wooly being Sam is still by FAAAAAR the most likely outcome. 🤷
@@pipedream2556 2 issues with that, 1 Amanda's Monster is still here, the story implies killing the monster, and 2, one more BIG piece of evidence for Employee Wooly, is that the tapes with Wooly have two things that the tapes without have, the Hamlyn logo, and a credit to a "containment specialist" who the horror focused theorist slice of bread highlights as likely referring to Wooly, who's job is to keep an eye on Amanda and contain her to the story.
I don't think Wooly is necessarily bad because of one key detail he's the library mascot. I think it's more likely he's a whistleblower who is friends with Kate or just thinks what Hamelin is doing is wrong.
I was thinking that about Wooly, when I heard the doc or whatever hollering at the video being taken of the hospital room. They sound SO similar. Not the same VA, but Amanda and Rebecca don't have the same VA either.
@@alexejmaximoff1295it's not, Wooly's va is James Pratt who also created the game. I forget the name of who voiced the doctor but it is someone different. I did check this watching gtlive because I thought the same thing.

This theory seems unnecessarily focused on demonizing (no pun intended) Sam as an *agent* of Hameln rather than a victim despite the hidden tapes in the first game showing him being outwardly skeptical of them and Amanda saying "he was too trusting" in the "Do You Feel Safe?" tape when you put him down as who you trust. Plus, you can hear Wooly's VA in the third hidden tape as the voice of the Hameln employee who confronts the person filming so it makes more sense to be an employee being punished with 'babysitting' duty as a result of so much information leaking so quickly.
Right. Leaning so heavy into "Sam is Wooly" then directly saying Sam may be the one video taping Amanda in the hospital bed where we directly hear wooly speaking to her just killed their own theory
@@hannasennott3714I think Caroline the African American lady is secretly recording the events at the company if you found the tape where Kate, Caroline, and two other men are talking about saving Rebecca, I believe it’s her as she stated “I can take this company down alone”
3:39 Tom: "And, believe me, I get it. I'd get annoyed too if someone kept bugging me, attacking me, and, y'know, tryna rip my eye out." Spots Santi approaching with rusty pliers. "Don't even think about it." This just confirms it, they're all secretly siblings living in the same house while recording theories, lol.
i never fully fell in line with the "wooly is sam" theory, if only because the way he actually spoke to her - like the phrases and tone of his voice - never felt like a father speaking to their daughter. even if amanda was scary and threatening, i couldn't imagine sam talking to amanda the way that wooly does. however - i never had a better idea. the "hameln employee" was interesting, but in the first game, i just didn't feel there was enough evidence to support it. amanda 2 is not answering either of those questions for me LOL.
following the theory its probably part of the contract. he can't reveal to her that he's her father, so he he talks to her nicely but not fatherly as to not make her suspicious
What if there are 2 woolies? As in 2 different woolies that look and sound identical but one of them is helping Amanda and one is hurting her This would also be as to why the glitchy tape is the only one where he switched mid scene because the brokenness of the tape actually allowed it to happen
In the second game theres a tape with rebecca in the hospital the guy filming get chased by a guy that sounds like wooly. Thats evidence enough. Its the Doctor that works for Hamln. Hes a wolf in sheeps clothing.
I mean you can view his tone of voice as a father frustrated that his kid with his kid but understands why they're behaving the way they are and tries desperately to keep it at bay.
OMG OMG OMG I GET IT, okay so... 1, The other shops in the tape "In your neighborhood" so, if the butcher shop is the doctor's office doesn't that mean that Hameln must have recreated the places in ADMANDS neighborhood! that's why Amdanda is so calm and doesn't freak out, instead she must think it's her Local, Bakery, Post office, and Conventual store! And! AND! only Wooly is scared when they go to the Butchers shop, TRY TO THINK ABOUT THAT TOM!!
I would like to point out that one of the medical staff in the hospital tape has the exact same voice as Wooly, while Wooly and Sam don't have the same voice...so maybe Wooly is supposed to come off as a trapped Sam when in reality it's the doctor but Hameln doesn't want Amanda to find that out otherwise she'll cause an uprising. Plus the rooster that was given to "Amanda" was more brown while the one with Wooly was white, maybe implying that it's supposed to be a fake. Just my thoughts though.
Interesting idea about Wooly being the doctor trying to pass off as Sam. I might be remembering things wrong but didn't the first game have a secret tape with Sam telling Rebecca to trust Hameln? Now we see he never went through with that exactly but they were recording the whole conversation so it would be easy to get what they needed anyway. Also pretty sure some slang about editing videos and things is it being "doctored".
I'm really shocked he didn't mention that bit, especially since Ash noticed it live during her playthrough. that's the most damning evidence against Wooly = Sam
Another “fact” i wanna point out. If Amanda has been hospitalized for at least 15 years, Hameln knows she ain’t going anywhere, she can only go as far as whoever has the tapes. The demon on the other hand seems to be able to roam wherever it wants. So if Amanda is trapped and can still control the demon from the inside, the only way to “contain” it is if you go into the show and try to help Amanda, and who has a demon and also tries to make sure the Amanda demon doesn’t come out? wooly
@TheGameTheorists Theory idea, does music help you play better in video games, like does the doom music get you a lot of kills in shooter, and if true, what music helps with which types of games?
Yes it does and mattpat already covered this topic but….. did you know? Music can help motivate you, it’s one of the best forms of therapy and can increase your concentration in real life situations
this is def a good idea, but I think it would be rly hard for them to make because of copyright and all that. hence why they can't have a theory channel for music. but if they can do it, that would be a great vid lol
Gonna have to disagree with Tom on this one, I'm more inclined to believe that Wooly is a pediatrician from Hameln Aside from Ash saying that the paediatrician sounds very similar to Wooly's voice during their GTlive playthrough and the other points Tom brought up that that contributes to the Hameln employee hypothesis, something else I realized was that in the demo, *Wooly said he's allergic to apples.* *And an apple a day, keeps the doctor away.*
Okay, but what about the tape where Wooly is putting on a face to say a message for Hameln? If the pediatrician works for Hameln, why do they need to be forced to give a message... when it's their job to do so? That would imply that yet another adult was kidnapped. Which complicates things a lot without a whole lot of evidence to back it up.. Counter argument to the pediatrician sounding like Wooly argument: Voice actors/limited cast. An apple a day keeps the doctor away is a really good idea, but it's pretty weak evidence compared to everything Tom just presented.
Yeah no Sam is not wooly…when wooly says I can’t take this anymore it sounds way more like an employee that got forced into the situation. Wooly tries to make Amanda forget her real self …her dad wouldn’t do that
I think wooly might have been a pediatrician that worked for hameln to help keep Amanda stable, you hear what sounds like wooly's voice in the coma video. He could have had a simular desire to help amanda as her dad, and be put in a simular sitation, not sure all the evidence proves that sam and wooly are the same.
Wooly being an employee would make waaaaaay more sense. Sam to be put in the tapes would be a huge liability to their plan. Plus Amanda and wooly don’t act at all like father and daughter. She seems to resent wooly a lot but is sentimental about Sam when you mention him
ok was anybody gonna tell me that amanda the adventurer and mortuary’s assistant are made by the same devs, or was i just supposed to find out through a game theory video?
Interesting when the GT video contradicts the analysis on GTLive. I trust the GTLive one more because the line of reasoning follows the story of finding the tapes directly. It feels like the "intentional" way to find lore rather than grasping at connections that may not be relevant anymore.
The thing to keep in mind is these theories typically take 1-2 weeks to edit, so the script for this wasl likely done 2+ weeks ago. Long before Ash went through the game. So they didn't see what hadn't yet happened. Also... Team Theorist has had a bad habit in the past on getting focused on one thing and notseeing what is right in front of them, or completely dismissing it because it doesn't match their narrative. I have personally never thought Wooly was Sam... it just doesn't line up as well, a lot of it is heavy speculation for them to make it work.
I just finished GTlive's playthrough when I saw this video get posted, and I think I like Ash's theory better of Wooly being the doctor from the tape with Rebecca in the hospital bed.
@@callmebrodyThat doesn't mean anything though. The voices are strikingly similar which, even with different voice actors, can still be a very conscious decision. Obviously a human adult doesn't sound exactly like a cartoon sheep would.
I have a few concerns with the theory. For one, when you listen to the doctor scene, you hear a voice that sounds just like Woolley chase off the camera operator. If Woolley and Sam are one and the same, you either wouldn’t have heard a voice, or would have heard Sam’s. Beyond that, in the final episode in the alley, you can mention Sam. When you do, Amanda states that “he was too trusting.” That seems to contradict the hypothesis that Rebecca thinks Sam abandoned her. Then there are multiple times in the game where you can type Woolley or Sam, and the responses are very different. Sure that could mean that she doesn’t know they are one and the same, but it feels like the creators are trying to draw a clear line between them. Then with the blue tape, we see that Hameln is reinterpreting his words and are unable to make him say the statement outright. If that’s the case, it feels unsatisfying to say that he gave in anyways. Then with the “I can’t take this anymore” line, it feels like Woolley is fed up with Amanda, that contradicts Sam’s characterization of being dedicated to Rebecca with everything he has. He sounds sick dealing with her, and that just doesn’t seem right. At the moment, it feels like the devs want us to keep guessing who Woolley is. It doesn’t feel conclusive. While the arguments make sense for both, I can’t feel satisfied with that when Woolley contradicts Sam’s characterization.
Yeah so true also it doesn't fit with how we see woolys demon be so much more aggressive killing Joanne. If Amanda can control her demon partially so can Sam and the wooly demon is clearly meant to seem more evil
This theory video felt so classic, like it could have been from 2015. I appreciate the thought and wonder that these videos still bring me after all these years! Thanks theorists 🙏
Putting my own two cents out there If Wooly is a Hameln employee, why does he keep trying (keyword here) to make Amanda feel better? It would be easier to manipulate her if she was depressed and unwilling to fight. That would explain the "helpless princess" story. But why did Wooly try to make Amanda feel better in the "fixing things" tape? I think he's a Hameln employee who might sympathize with Rebecca, but who keeps up with what the company wants without getting violent. Also, probably nothing, but Wooly doesn’t react to Hameln being brought up while in the alley. If he's Sam, there's all the evidence in the video. But also, Wooly's VA (James Pratt) wasn't "Voice #2". You can check the credits in the game. Unless they're lying.
I think Wooly is trying to make Amanda feel better because his fate is directly tied to hers. That, and as Amanda's handler, he can still develop some empathy towards her.
The main reasons I would guess would be that in order for Hameln's plan to work, Amanda still needs to be engaging to children and while a one off episode where Amanda is sad/scared/angry/etc is a good "lesson" episode, any more then 2 or 3 in a row would turn children off of the show. Kids are also smart; so well they might not be able to put a name to it, if Amanda was faking the energy they would see it.
@@tsukikagenoknight7915 the thing is some bonus scenes show that wooly has his own traumatic triggers to certain words and events. There is a scene where why see cryptic flashbacks of slaughtered meat in this game and in other games. This makes me think he's somewhat sympathetic to Amanda and has been victimized somewhat.
My main issue with Sam being Wooly is the fact that Sam isn't in the same brain scan coma that Rebecca is in. We've seen Wooly forced to wait in a white room between tapes but have also seen Sam locked in a normal room so whoever is Wooly shouldn't be walking around IRL too.
Ok one thing that I don’t really like is that Tom doesn’t present all of the information and then kinda just goes with his own biases. And I’m sure MatPat did too it’s just more obvious now. Like he mentioned the tape with the yelling doctor but ignored the doctor’s voice or idk if it was that tape but it was mentioned that if Amanda got too emotional she would mess up procedures or something. The way wooly acts doesn’t sound like a father caring that his daughter is upset and wanting to calm her down, but like a doctor just trying to make sure things go smoothly. Wooly sounds frantic when Amanda is upset. He sounds like he’s trying to urgently make things better or he’s constantly covering up what actually happened. Amanda seems to know what he is, a doctor working for Hameln, not someone who genuinely wants to help her. Which is probably why she’s constantly trying to avoid him or just shows that she hates him. And plus an honorable mention, idk who commented this, but on a dawko vid on this game someone said that the Hameln logo only appears when wooly is in a tape. I’m not sure entirely how true it is, but if it is it’s more evidence that wooly is a doctor, not Sam. It’s more of a game hypothesis, and that sure is something.
Matpats bias became more apparent when he was reacting to a theory, he becomes defensive and immediately disagrees and argues before even listening to the evidence. It's why I stopped watching the gtlive reactions

Alright so, what I'm sure about from Amanda the adventure 2 is the following: 1_The opposum is most definitely Joanne's missing brother just like the girl "Lauren" if that's her name disappeared in the secret tape from the first game. Proving the fact these kids and living objects are the souls of humans. 2_ it should be pretty obvious hameln is the bad here, But now with the butcher.. I'm sure he was a doctor working in hameln which is why amanda hates and fears him, he caused her pain. And she hates him 3_ raily is pretty much stuck in this path, he'll either die or manage to save the kids. 4_ Rebecca has been stuck in the tapes for 15 YEARS. 😬.. but Kate worked on the case for 14 years which is why amanda probably trust her. Kate tried to help. (I do suspect that her death by the car accident was intended by either hameln or the demon wooly, why else would she drive this fast?) 5_ Personally.. I think wooly is still unknown. We didn't get a lot of characters here.. and I don't think he's bad or good, he's SO complicated and hard to understand, on one side he tries to help amanda when she's sad.. but on the other side he seems to be trying to keep her under control, we probably have to wait until the next chapter to know more abt him 😞 And yes ladies and gentlemen that's all (for now lol)
okay but you cant excuse the fact that the person in the doctor video talking in the background is literally woolys voice I don’t buy it. I think wooly being an employee that wants to help but is forced to do their work because he signed a contract seems way more likely.
I know this could be easily disproven, but the theory of Sam being the demon would be SO cool. I mean, it protects Amanda, keeps her emotions in check and it would also tie in nicely with both of them technically being locked up.
I don't know. if Sam is wooly, why not tell Amanda. That would actually comfort her. 2. personally I don't think wooly is Sam but something of a copy/clone. The tape that shows Sam You can hear an agent say they will work with the recording they got of Sam. 3. And the story of Sam killing her feels a stretch, Amanda's monster is alive and shows no signs of damage. 4. Why is Jordan a possum, but no other characters appear. I mean Jordans not the first to disappear so why are Wooly and Amanda surprised to see him? Does this not happen to every other kid?
@@politewriter9539 yeah she talks about Sam in front of Wooly with no reaction several times. In this game she implied she was too trusting. A couple things I notice: 1. In the Orange Secret Tape it sounds like someone gave Aunt Kate the tapes in the first place to study and go over. It probably was an Hameln employee that was either trying to expose the truth or wasn't high up enough to know how dangerous the tapes are. Also seem to gave Kate and her group at least some the of secret tape because in one part they were clearly going the one that shown Rebecca signing the contract. 2. In the segment about telling Amanda a story, Wooly first ask you want genre of book you like to read. If you respond with "Horror", it cause Wooly to react nervously, saying those kind of stories reminded him of bad times, while images of an surgery room flashed on the tv screen.
Except we hear somebody who sounds exactly like Wooly monitoring Rebecca in real life in one of the secret tapes , I am fairly convinced that's not a case of the same actor playing two separate characters, I think they are one in the same
I don't really like the Sam being wooly theory because something kind of disproving that is when Sam was pulled away and they talked about how Amanda/Rebecca had been there for 15 years. Then how can he be wooly but also still be conscious in the real world? Edit:Ignore everything i said cuz i'm wrong I just think him being Sam would be unlikely IMO
The intro was such a good opportunity to add when the guardians of the galaxy first met the Avengers, the part where Drax says “I’ll do you one better, WHY IS GAMORA?!”
I agree with this statement but are we not going to talk about when in one of the secret tapes when Rebecca or Amanda was in the hospital bed, when the person was recording it you can hear a doctor saying “hey you can’t be here” or something like that, and they kinda sound like wooly S:1. Ash said so too soooooooo 🤷♀️
Nice theory! The other interesting thing is what happens when we anwer "horror" to Wooly's question "Which type of stories do we like". Then Wooly gets scared and we can see some flashbacks from what happened to him, all connected to "the butcher" character.
In my personal opinion, I do believe that wooly was supposed to act as a father like figure to keep Amanda/Rebecca in check, and as a result of being stuck in the tapes for so long with a child that obviously wants to get out would get a reaction like that, where he just freaks out and says he can’t handle it anymore. He does seem to switch out who he helps out though, possibly realizing that he chose the wrong side when he started working for Hamelin.
In Amanda the Adventure 1, the dad must've been Wooly and they replaced him for not keeping Amanda under control as you see a big change in Wooly from Amanda the Adventurer 2. that's my theory.
I just had a thought, what if Amanda’s real parents were the founders of Hamlin? It would explain a bit why Amanda is the main character instead of just being a tree or something.
I like to think wooly is just is the same as amanda, a child trapped. But evidence can show otherwise, at this point i just want to defend him because hes my fav
You're leaving out one critical detail - the 'Wooly' demon. If Amanda's demon acts like it does because it's connected to her, then you need to explain the connection between Wooly as Sam and the Wooly Demon in the true ending. Have you considered the idea that Wooly only USE to be Wooly? That at some point (maybe the jump from live action to animation) they changed who played Wooly - it wouldn't be too uncommon and would explain her reaction to the current Wooly. One possibility is that he's the black guy that appears in one of the secret tapes where their talking about the missing kids because in the next tape featuring Joann and Kate he's not there - maybe he's the one who infiltrated the hospital and got that footage of Rebecca's real body, only to get caught and shoved in the tapes as Wooly.
My theory is that Wooly is the doctor in the tape of Rebecca in the hosptial. In the GT Live playthrough Ash said the doctor sounded like Wooly and I didn't put it together until then but he really does. They are also talking about needing to regulate Rebecca's emotions which, as we know, Wooly tries to do often. It would stand to reason that the doctor who was working on putting Rebecca in the tapes trusted Hameln enough to do the same to him so he could regulate her from the inside. And it would explain why she doesn't like Wooly and can't stand him. Even going as far as killing him in the first game... Because she recognizes his voice as the doctor who helped do this to her.
I think a certain host of the theorists roundtable would like to disagree 😅. Especially since they caught a neat little detail that seems to be glossed over here.
@@seandorama5932that wooly sounds just like the surgeon. He’s also somewhat of a therapist, so he likely is hiding these things from her so she doesn’t get too scared or stressed out. He’s like a brain surgeon and in that tape that Sam (?) was recording her in the hospital room, that was Wooly saying the instructions. He says something about her amygdala (emotional part of the brain. Either she was scared or had some other strong emotion) and wanted to keep her calm. He hid the clothes in the grade and told her to forget not because he’s Sam, but because he doesn’t want her to be any more distressed with thinking of the past. Sadly I’m going to have to completely disagree with his theory of Sam being wooly. Not to mention, they already debunked them not being the same person in older videos, there’s a scene (not sure which) where they say Sam and Amanda becomes sad, but when you put Wooly she laughs and is like “Thank God he’s gone!”
The way Wooly’s character has been evolving since the begining, especially with his subtle hints and warnings, it feels like he’s not just trying to help Amanda... he might be trying to stop her
Always thought he was a therapist that works for hamlin out in the tapes with her to keep her calm and thats why he switches he works for hamlin, but hes still human
Who ever said Wooly is always the same employee? Let’s not forget that Amanda killed Wooly in the first game, only for him to come back in the second like nothing ever happened. His demeanor has also shifted, and he misreads Amanda’s needs far too much to be family or someone who’s been with her through all the tapes.. I think Hamln wants the Amanda tapes destroyed as she found a way to escape into the tapes along with the children’s souls, keeping them from Hamln. They continue to hook up some replaceable wageslave cult member to try and keep her from taking full control of the video dimension long after she saw through the deception. Wooly is Hamln’s “mascot”. His “altar” is the first thing you see before making it into the Amanda “worship chamber” in the back of the library. His monster comes in the timeline where you sacrifice his plushie to Amanda, causing it to howl in pain in the distance. Joanna never said WHICH monster it was that she was seeing, or had attacked her in the past.”
Okay, so I checked the arg out. And main take aways are -the protagonist of the arg (hamfan) has a OC called rat pal. Rat pal also has a evil twin called rat pain. - the amanda the adventurer games are fan games of the amanda the adventurer show in the ARG'S universe -Dread x (the owners of amanda the adventurer) collabed with jakeneutron to make videos (no, I'm not making this up)
About the speculative theory at the end: If Sam kills demon, how is it still alive? and if it is alive , does that mean amanda is not dead? Also Amanda was trapped for 15 years so maybe Sam is not wooly? Coz he had been captive in real life, He recorded videos (assuming the recorder was sam) and all.... and wooly had been with amanda since the start of ATA 1 so maybe this just disproves the theory?
wooly is a containment manager that works for hameln. in the first game at the credits of one of the tapes it says "containment manager: (i forgot their name lol) " and as you can see wooly tries to contain amanda by calming her down
Please make a theory about stereotypical obby and the repleh county series trust me the lore is super deep one of the most lore intensive games I’ve ever seen
Joanne's actor was incredible, especially the part during the credits where the radio turns on and you can just hear her gasping

@@ethan-not-a-pastafarian it was a great touch
that's the part when she dies on walkie-talkie, that makes me feel chills! 😖
agreed, hearing that was terrifying, it was great
I remember someone commenting on a different gameplay on that specific part "That's gore. Gore of my comfort character."
2 things I noticed/believe
Omg!!! I was wondering what that howl was! Amanda's monster is protecting us from woolys monster perhaps
i noticed how much more sadistic wooly's monster was. such a disturbing sequence
when Amanda's monster kills you, you instantly die. so that's probably why
@@happi_guy that's probably why wat?
I'd like to mention that NO ONE has mentioned that when Amanda monster attacks in the "When Your Feeling Bad" tape, Woolys eyes disappear and he freezes. Amanda can see the command the monster, and we know Wooly can see and interact with the world from the tapes, reacting to our choices. But he *DOESNT* react at all to the monster. Only once the monster stops trying to attack and retreats into the corner does Wooly come back
maybe then wooly or whoever wooly is doesnt know/is kept unaware abt the monster?
I always took that as amanda controlling wooly so he doesnt notice the monster and maybe diverting him from aggravating it given that it hardly listens to amanda in the first place (including us making a bond with her throughout the game)
There's a different monster in the game that resembles Wooly specifically
Rye toast brought this up during his play through and, (if I’m remembering correctly) his theory video! Very interesting
@@DorneysHouseofGamesye
Also, when Wooly says that the neighbourhood feels cozy and safe, Amanda goes "Does it, Wooly?" very sarcastically, with the tone of a person who questions someone while already knowing that they are lying. Same with the moment when Wooly tries to stop her from going into the alley, she also answers him with sarcasm, reminding him how he lied to her. The whole tape is about trust and how Amanda can't trust anyone, and how everyone is able to potentially hurt her. The sadness on Wooly face and him pleading to not talk about the subject of trust is very telling and I think it also fits this theory
huh.. I think I'm getting it🤔🤔
On top of this, in that tape amanda asks if there’s anyone the player trusts. If the player answers wooly, she says she once trusted him but not anymore or something like that.
@@lesn2377 Yes but if the player answers sam into the tape Amanda will say "He was so trusting too" which kind of disproves this entire theory
She hates Wooly, and she hates being there, and Wooly the medical puppet is there to distract her and keep her sidated.
i agree with this take and i believe ash does as well. when watching them play, ash was making many remarks as to how wooly has a lot of medical themes. theres a lot of medical imagery and callbacks. one of the books is by dr malpractice. i also want to point out that cotton is used a lot in medical settings. also, a pediatrician is always going to try to make their child patients feel better, they dont want medicine to be a scary experience for children. i believe more that wooly was a hameln pediatrician that was hired on under a false pretense, just as Sam was. i interpret the scene of wooly saying "i cant take this anymore!" as a cry for help and guilt from the contract he signed and the position he put himself into, these children are haunting him. if the opossum is jordan, him trying to attack wooly would make sense as well. wooly being a pediatrician and the one administering the treatments to him, of course jordan/opossum would attack him
Despite the whole demon thing ?
The opossum also went after Amanda.

All the acting, voice and live, is just astounding.
Does anyone have evidence of that happening to the person inside of the show?
21:15 Amanda reacts negatively when real traumatic events are represented to her in some form. So there is no way she'd feel better by hearing something that traumatized her, i think she just enjoys the chaos of that story.
Honestly. That sounds about right😅
That element of winning over Amanda and earning her trust carries through so much of this game.

What if wooly was an actual sheep and that's y the flashbacks Imply it's sheep meat
Sam would've played Wooly, but it would be easier for Hamlin to manipulate Rebecca if Sam wasn't around.
this thread got me thinking, I wonder if the butcher/meatman allusion to being a surgeon/doctor is related to why the kids' souls have to stay in the tapes. perhaps he and the rest of hameln cannabalized their bodies, treating them as actual meat, making the tapes the only place their souls can "live on." i think this because paired with the butcher/meatman, there's always photos/media of realistic looking meat one might see in a butcher's shop.
or perhaps as a surgeon, he's found a way to "surgically" (or otherwise) separate their souls from their bodies.
or maybe there is no cannibalism and he's just called the butcher/meatman because his surgery was basically malpractice/treated them like he as chopping meat.
anyway,
i don't think wooly is a kid based off how his voice sounds, and I also don't think he's Sam.
Same
same here. i think wooly was a hameln employee who recorded the secret tapes of hameln (like the one with rebecca in a hospital like room) and was punished for it.
edit: just something i remembered, the investigators in the secret tape mentioned that hameln could also be a cult, so its possible that wooly was a person brainwashed and manipulated into the cult as well as many others who may be working for hameln.
Which would explain the colored tapes. An inside man working with Sam
The second game definitely changed how I saw Wooly. Something is definitely off with this sheep. Let's see what you got for us, Tom!

Trusting Wooly was a mistake woolly was the second doctor in one of the tapes.
@Ms.Divine2024 yes, but I am talking about what Amanda had said in "do you feel safe?" tape
If you type Sam after Amanda asks you who is someone you trust, she will say "He was trusting, too. And that can be a mistake."
@@IllustraRavenyoure misunderstanding the sentence. Amanda means that Sam is overly trusting/too quick to trust and that ended up being a mistake, as he trusted hamln at first
Not that trusting sam itself was a mistake.
I always interpreted the dragon story as a warning. Telling Riley/the player that the demon can't be separated from Amanda without harming Rebecca.
What I was going to say there's a tape where the person recording runs away and a scientist sounds like the voice of Wooly.
@Cooe. there's "black and white" and there's "lying to your daughter about killing her so that she'd like you" 😭
I don't think Wooly is necessarily bad because of one key detail he's the library mascot. I think it's more likely he's a whistleblower who is friends with Kate or just thinks what Hamelin is doing is wrong.

And! AND! only Wooly is scared when they go to the Butchers shop, TRY TO THINK ABOUT THAT TOM!!
Another “fact” i wanna point out. If Amanda has been hospitalized for at least 15 years, Hameln knows she ain’t going anywhere, she can only go as far as whoever has the tapes. The demon on the other hand seems to be able to roam wherever it wants. So if Amanda is trapped and can still control the demon from the inside, the only way to “contain” it is if you go into the show and try to help Amanda, and who has a demon and also tries to make sure the Amanda demon doesn’t come out? wooly

Gonna have to disagree with Tom on this one, I'm more inclined to believe that Wooly is a pediatrician from Hameln
Aside from Ash saying that the paediatrician sounds very similar to Wooly's voice during their GTlive playthrough and the other points Tom brought up that that contributes to the Hameln employee hypothesis, something else I realized was that in the demo, *Wooly said he's allergic to apples.*
*And an apple a day, keeps the doctor away.*
Oh the apple allergy is so clever. Nice observation
OH MY GOD?????
Okay, but what about the tape where Wooly is putting on a face to say a message for Hameln? If the pediatrician works for Hameln, why do they need to be forced to give a message... when it's their job to do so? That would imply that yet another adult was kidnapped. Which complicates things a lot without a whole lot of evidence to back it up..
Counter argument to the pediatrician sounding like Wooly argument: Voice actors/limited cast.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away is a really good idea, but it's pretty weak evidence compared to everything Tom just presented.
@@KillerPhoenixesClan Now that I think about it your kinda right
And what else?
Yeah no Sam is not wooly…when wooly says I can’t take this anymore it sounds way more like an employee that got forced into the situation. Wooly tries to make Amanda forget her real self …her dad wouldn’t do that

I think wooly might have been a pediatrician that worked for hameln to help keep Amanda stable, you hear what sounds like wooly's voice in the coma video. He could have had a simular desire to help amanda as her dad, and be put in a simular sitation, not sure all the evidence proves that sam and wooly are the same.
I think this is spot on
Wooly being an employee would make waaaaaay more sense. Sam to be put in the tapes would be a huge liability to their plan. Plus Amanda and wooly don’t act at all like father and daughter. She seems to resent wooly a lot but is sentimental about Sam when you mention him

It's not. Just the same publisher. Just like borderlands and Grand theft Auto
Yeah exactly, WTH
Interesting when the GT video contradicts the analysis on GTLive.
I trust the GTLive one more because the line of reasoning follows the story of finding the tapes directly. It feels like the "intentional" way to find lore rather than grasping at connections that may not be relevant anymore.
If true, I'm surprised they didn't have discussion with one another for this game

That’s so weird, I just found out this video was posted once I finished the second to last gameplay a few minutes ago
Same
Doesn’t add up. The voice actor for said doctor is a different voice actor from wooly.
While the arguments make sense for both, I can’t feel satisfied with that when Woolley contradicts Sam’s characterization.
i def believe you, i doubt wooly is sam just don’t think so
Yeah so true also it doesn't fit with how we see woolys demon be so much more aggressive killing Joanne. If Amanda can control her demon partially so can Sam and the wooly demon is clearly meant to seem more evil
This theory video felt so classic, like it could have been from 2015. I appreciate the thought and wonder that these videos still bring me after all these years! Thanks theorists 🙏
Putting my own two cents out there
If Wooly is a Hameln employee, why does he keep trying (keyword here) to make Amanda feel better?
Wooly was also a victim but i don't think he's a dad
The main reasons I would guess would be that in order for Hameln's plan to work, Amanda still needs to be engaging to children and while a one off episode where Amanda is sad/scared/angry/etc is a good "lesson" episode, any more then 2 or 3 in a row would turn children off of the show. Kids are also smart; so well they might not be able to put a name to it, if Amanda was faking the energy they would see it.
@@tsukikagenoknight7915 the thing is some bonus scenes show that wooly has his own traumatic triggers to certain words and events.

Alright so, what I'm sure about from Amanda the adventure 2 is the following:
1_The opposum is most definitely Joanne's missing brother just like the girl "Lauren" if that's her name disappeared in the secret tape from the first game. Proving the fact these kids and living objects are the souls of humans.
2_ it should be pretty obvious hameln is the bad here, But now with the butcher.. I'm sure he was a doctor working in hameln which is why amanda hates and fears him, he caused her pain. And she hates him
3_ raily is pretty much stuck in this path, he'll either die or manage to save the kids.
4_ Rebecca has been stuck in the tapes for 15 YEARS. 😬.. but Kate worked on the case for 14 years which is why amanda probably trust her. Kate tried to help. (I do suspect that her death by the car accident was intended by either hameln or the demon wooly, why else would she drive this fast?)
5_ Personally.. I think wooly is still unknown. We didn't get a lot of characters here.. and I don't think he's bad or good, he's SO complicated and hard to understand, on one side he tries to help amanda when she's sad.. but on the other side he seems to be trying to keep her under control, we probably have to wait until the next chapter to know more abt him 😞

I thought we were going to talk about how one of the doctors in the tape showing Rebecca in the hospital sounded like Wooly.
okay but you cant excuse the fact that the person in the doctor video talking in the background is literally woolys voice I don’t buy it.
It’s always who is Woolly? Why is Woolly? Never… How is Woolly?
It would be weird from a game development side to not have Wooly have a reaction to Sam mentions if that's who he is.

A couple things I notice:

18:04 Sam's face on wooly is not what I needed today 😂
Correction: it's not what you thought you needed today

Genius
Oooooh, that's possible!
Everyone always asks who wooly is and why wooly is, but no one ever asks how wooly is
I think a certain host of the theorists roundtable would like to disagree 😅. Especially since they caught a neat little detail that seems to be glossed over here.
What was the detail?
