You can tell by him almost having a breakdown that Kaufmo truly just wanted to make people laugh from his jokes. But the pressure of the other circus members not appreciating them being funny and finding the exit truly has him feel overwhelmed and depressed poor clown.

I'm shocked that you guys made a character who literally never had a speaking role in the actual show a truly tragic and layered character. The darker, claustrophobic tone this short has absolutely sells how alone Kaufmo really feels.
What a good cinema movie of all time this animation so cool i love this video so much I wander of they made a movie cinematic of the Amazing Digital circus thankyou so much and i love you 💟 😍🥰❤️😊🤩
as Kinger said in the recent episode "the worst thing you can do here is make someone think they aren't loved or wanted" and Kaufmo in this is a perfect example
I was so confused at first until my brain actually worked and i realized it's the word for 4 not the work of 4, i literally thought the Japanese had some bad omen about letting 4 people work together
The sound design in this is astonishing. Every scene, every moment, has such amazing sounds. I’ve never heard someone exemplify anxiety/a panic attack in sound form so well before
How does a character whose only screen time was the cut out that appeared for 2 seconds and his funeral picture (And no I’m not counting the abstraction)
Genuinely scarier than anything else TADC I've ever seen, far more so than the original series itself. It actually makes the concept of Abstraction a real, terrifying concept rather than a mandatory plot-related death that gives us 2-4 minutes of mildly entertaining chase scene content.
@@MeloniestNeonwell the series only has 2 episodes so I wouldn’t be to quick to say that it could eventually get into the process of abstraction and it could be as terrifying and gut wrenching as this is
@@waffie6785 I mean, the thing is we've already SEEN Abstraction, like, on screen, in full display, we know HOW it works. if we didn't even know really what it was, and we slowly learned as, say, Zooble, Jax, or Gangle abstracted, it'd be so much more impactful than it just being played off as "oopsie daisy, another one went insane!" I do have hope for the series, and I didn't mean to put it down, it's not bad by any means, this short is just what I always wanted from it and more!
@@MeloniestNeon I believe the rules of abstraction were revealed early on to add more stakes from Pomni's end. If she doesn't remain sane in her new digital home, she could end up the same as Kaufmo. This could also set up some narrative parrallel between the both of them if the future episodes plan to reveal more of Kaufmo's story later down the road.
Well when they entered Kaufmo's room in the pilot it looked like he just abstracted seconds ago so if they were like a minute earlier they could have saved him from abstracting
I really love the contrast in the lighting at 3:00 it feels straight out of a film and I always theorized Kaufmo was only second to Kinger in terms of time spent in the circus and I this shot just showed how different they were, one who managed to come to terms with the fact he was trapped and lost his mind and now ignorant but in bliss while the other one is still desperately trying to escape and cling to whatever sanity is left as he knows far too well what will happen if he doesn’t leave. It’s also the only time he ever directly speaks with someone else as Kaufmo was pretty separated from the rest of the group and I love how his voice sounded in that monent
Now hold a sec, I wondered if someone had abstracted and got sent to the cellar, wouldn’t the game “logically” emit the player out of the computer screen so they would return into the real world (I think I found out that The Amazing Digital Circus was a fictional 90s-2000s computer video game) We all also know that Pomni got sucked into the game due to wearing a gaming vr headset. So we know that she was playing the video game which she got sucked into
I think Kaufmo's main problem was that he took his new body too seriously. Just because he's in the body of the clown didn't mean he has to be funny, or push himself to be funny. Jax dosen't eat carrots, Gangle dosen't tie things together, Pomni dosen't make silly performances, Ragatha dosen't get punted around like a... My point is, Kaufmo could have been anything. He had infinite time, after all. I think to survive in the circus, you shouldn't shape yourself to what it tells you to be- or to the body you're given. You should shape yourself to what you want to be, and what you can do with it.
just like real life! our bodies and pasts do accompany us but don't make us; i truly believe digital circus is exactly about this, about finding oneself among other lost ones, uniting because of differences
I like how the characters probably have some struggle to get over in the real world, like perfoance anxiety (Kaufmo) appearances (Zooble), emotions (Gangle), secrets (Jax), finding your place in the world (Pomni), feeling helpless or like a toy (Ragatha), and taking charge and leadership (Kinger)
@@awesomemantroll1088 Yeah. Also Jax might have been in the Circus long enough... Who knows for how long? Either way. Jax might have never finished his puberty. And now the lack of anything truly is a remarkable thing to check. Because he has perhaps self taught himself that chaos is fun. But he truly isn't driven by testosterone anymore even if his body may believe it. He can be unhinged, he doesn't feel afraid because he knows the contextual part of his reality well, but he is not going to feel satisfaction for real, he can't cry. And I think Jax could cry of anger. Because he is really angry. Because he doesn't want anyone or so may he shove in his mental programming, but he can't truly not have eternal fun, so when he becomes frustrated enough... How will he find relief? What if Caine has to pause Jax or straight up ban him?? Leaving him back on the level select only to have a lake or a carnival where there's nothing to be had other than sterile entertainment.
A truly corrupt and bizarre experience that brings the horror to the digital circus, what went from a glitchy llama to a terrifying experience nobody should be put through. Seeing Kaufmo realize he’s already abstracted and knowing it’s too late, that one really hurts chief. You really put a lot to the character of Kaufmo, even if he canonically didint show up you made him very sympathetic, incredible job
I like how the video is arranged. In TADC:Pilot. All characters mentioned about kaufmo, Except Jax and Zooble. Gangle and Ragatha says about them not laughing to Kaufmo's jokes. While Kinger says that he talked to Kaufmo.
This really brings home just how terrifying TADC is. Trapped forever, and the harder you search for a way out, the closer you come to being transformed into a hideous monster, locked away in the eternal dark. Your own hope damns you. Your desire to escape condemns you. Dante could never write something this frightening.
i love how this might give some extra context to why Kaufmo's Abstracted form has so many eyes the fear of being perceived is a very real fear and he could only conquer it by looking back dark to think that he could only find an exit in abstraction ooo this is a good film
@@ZixybitsyI feel it's a huge missed opportunity to have all abstractions look the exact same when their design could be an expression of the original entity's descent into madness. But I guess the shot of the cellar filled with eyes wouldn't make much sense if it wasn't the case
Watching this while on shrooms was the one of the best mistakes I have ever made. The sequence from 8:30 onwards both terrified me and left me in absolute awe in how well done it was. Absolutely nightmarish yet weirdly beautiful visual poetry.

this is actually insane. The production quality, the cinematography, the sound design. This is genuinely cinema level animation and execution, you guys were being held back by the confines of the stylistic choices of the show and your budget. This is genuinely so amazing, and outclasses the source material 1000%. Not to take away from the tadc at all, animation is incredibly difficult, but that just goes to show, 10 months, for something of this quality is so so GOOD. You are insane. Even just flicking through your other work, its just amazing. I'd love to see an original work from you, you have the skill and style to back it up!
Can we talk about how haunting the music is at 9:45 it is the most haunting and depressing thing I have ever truly heard in my life and it makes Kaufmo abstraction all the sadder and it makes what I once viewed as the silly weird horse looking design for the abstraction as something genuinely horrifying and outright disgusting like an infection that doesn’t belong in this world
It fits the scene perfectly. It feels like it is trying to play a happy tune but notes are missing and cannot go well together. Exactly what happened to Kaufmo - he sort of went missing and insane, unable to do anything despite his tries. It's really haunting indeed.
Hope the creators of the circus take this into consideration with the further narrative of The Amazing Digital Circus. Going from this happy colorful cartoon to an absolute madhouse of hell and horror. I know they've seen this but I'd love to know how they felt about it and the creativity this brought to their studio. Awesome work to the team, was an absolute pleasure indulging myself in this masterpiece.
bro i literally cant agree more after seeing this ik it seems happy and goofy and silly but THIS like really makes me thin gtheres a potential to feel actual dread or horror like the atmosphere in this was insane i really hope they do something like this
If you show this show to someone who only knows Digital Circus by the description of the first episode, you can fool them into thinking this short is official, GOOD JOB THAT WAS A MASTERPIECE
Man, the fact that Caine just says "Oh, there you are." and just shoves Kaufmo back into his room without another word. That's Caine alright, completely unable to understand that the people around him are distraught. I also want to say that the cinematography and editing in this are stellar. 9:21 Could absolutely be used as a wallpaper. You did a fantastic job! I don't want to go there I need to get there
The animation, lighting, effects. sounds, faces, textures and even the CAMERA ANGLES? This is STUNNING. All the overwhelming visuals and close in shots and static it's like this short thought of everything to be horror and gripping from the start. The voice acting is great too. 10/10 this is beyond amazing especially for a fan made project.
7:33 what's even worse kaufmo probably didn't notice Cain, he couldn't tell if it was real or just him losing sanity, what part of it was real and what part isn't...
..i love to see passionate fans get together to make a great work of art like this, be proud you guys, this is incredible, every scene, all performances, the animation-- oh my goodness...
What breaks me is the fact he doesn't smile AT ALL in the episode. Not even when he's abstracting (plus it actually makes it less cliché horror!) It's filled with dread, doom, depression. Please, care about the people around you who you see struggling. If you are struggling, call a hotline. It's not a weakness to reach out - it's a great strength.
Dear lord you captured the essence of it so PERFECTLY!! Kaufmo having social anxiety also seems pretty likely on my opinion, i know from experience what stage fright is like And Kinger comforting him, although not in the best way, you can tell he really was trying And the ending with Kaufmo abstracting, how he just sat there an accepted his fate, showing perfectly how he had given up all hope right Than and there!! Truly a masterpiece!
This is absolutely incredible. I’m sad I’m only seeing this now. PHENOMENAL work by the whole team who worked on this. Such a deep dive with such a unique perspective. Absolutely loved it
The animators that worked on this should be hired by Glitch. This is the best fan animation I’ve ever seen! I really loved how you guys envisioned the abstraction of the exit being a hallucination and not real and then all the chaos when he was writing exit. I saw all the joke pun lines like “clownfish” but also “why aren’t you good enough?” and “what’s wrong with you?” and other similar phrases that the others may have told him. I also want to say the voice actors did a great job on doing the impressions of the cast, especially Jax, it’s very hard to do a Jax impression and I’ve seen no one do it as good as this. This fan film deserves WAY more attention
The colors omg the colors. The blue of Kaufmo the red of the door and its insanity the purple of the abstracted creature the occasionally low frame animation for more styled movements the models the camera movement the povs the voice acting the sound design the COLORS This is like something you could put at a museum
ok first things first THIS WAS SO GOOD! BRAZILIAN ARTISTS FOR THE WIN!! second things second now I totally headcanon Kaufmo as someone who struggled with social anxiety (or just being in the spotlight/center of attention) in real life- but because he ended up in the clown avatar Caine forced him to do comedy performances which is basically his worst nightmare. He tries his best not to embarrass himself and be at least somewhat entertaining but he was never the "funny guy" irl and no matter how hard he tries those things really don't come natural to him. Also whoever voiced Kinger was so good!!! Wow!!!
On top of this already being a masterpiece, the music capturing the mood (as well as the lack of it) is IMPECCABLE. Silence to pure cacophony when he realizes he’s going to abstract, and the reference to the theme song at the end.. amazing work!!
I am actually blown away by how on-point you've managed to get the character's mannerisms and voice patterns! Well done! I know that vocal-parroting is *HARD*
The horror factor being so well defined alongside the psychedelic effects used, both in sounds and visuals, really makes this stand out. It's a noticeable boost of the element compared to the original series. Really well done!
I have a feeling that even though Kaufmo is dead, he's going to be one of the most interesting characters. I doubt though that he just abstracted by himself, and it's actually one of the other characters series that's been messing with his mind so much with led to his abstraction, in some sort of twisted experiment to figure out how the game works so they can escape it.
I think you’re right. I have a feeling that Jax, while possibly not directly intending to, contributed to Kaufmo’s abstraction. After all, Gooseworx said he deserves to be in the circus the most of all the characters. Maybe that’s why he didn’t go to the funeral, but also looked upset at the mention of it. There’s some underlying guilt there. I also feel like Jax might be the closest to abstraction in TADC tbh, but that’s just a theory.
yeah ! when i watched this part, i knew the team behind this fanfilm had done their research. It looks a lot like what Goose would have done, and it looks AMAZING
There is a theory that everyone in the circus if there to face a fear or get over some kind of Unhealthy obsession, like how Zooble in the real world might of been obsessed with the way she looks so in the circus she looks all jumbled up and such. So my theory is that Kufmo is actually pretty shy and has terrible stage fright that's why he is shown as the funny on stage clown
@@pbee.njayay444You could say that’s the torture, having to forever face your greatest nightmares in a place that traps you there. Pomni’s desire, in the first episode, was just to leave, leading to her constantly sees exit doors everywhere. She broke down into manic laughter after a little before finding the void.
Oh my god! This is pure art! The atmosphere was tense, perfect portrayals of insanity and an on stage panic attack! The lighting, the animations, and the acting are amazing! This should've been put in. To see what Kaufmo truly went through is like a dream come true. Thank you, for creating this masterpiece.
Yeah, that actually was the most vicious thing about all this. There wasn't a steady slide down into the abstracting: he was lucid, at the very end. The way the scene is presented, it seems like it's saying he might have been saved if he hadn't been alone. I didn't even make the connection about the objects before reading your comment.
Everthing is just so well made!! The dramatic voice acting, the animation, everthing was just- *chef kiss* congratulations to everyone in involded you all are very talented ❤❤
Even though this is not official and is something made by fans, I must say that this Fan-Film is well made, every time I saw Kaufmo having panic, fear and despair, I felt very bad for him, his desperation to find the way out. It led him to become abstracted and turn into what we saw in chapter one. PS: A good Fan-Film bro
0:15 His palms were sweaty, knees weak, arms were heavy, there’s vomit on his suit already, head chef bubbles spaghetti, kaufmo’s nervous, but the clowny surface, he was calm and ready to tell jokes- Edit: holy crap you guys really like Eminem Edit 2: ok you guys can stop Edit 3 - But he kept on forgetting what he wrote down the whole crowd doesn’t grow so loud he opens his mouth, but the words don’t come out, he’s choking now, Jax is joking now-
This somewhat reminds me of the Spiderverse Short Film. The eerie environments, the shaky camera, the small sketchy boxes. Everything in this film reminds me of the Spiderverse’s style in a way, and I love it. The voice acting is also phenomenal! The way everyone sounds, it sounds exactly like all the actors of TADC. I wish I was recommended this earlier.

Theirs some neat symbolism of someone wanting to fit in with three things and one other thing that’s just a bit far away
Genuinely scarier than anything else TADC I've ever seen, far more so than the original series itself. It actually makes the concept of Abstraction a real, terrifying concept rather than a mandatory plot-related death that gives us 2-4 minutes of mildly entertaining chase scene content.
@@MeloniestNeonwell the series only has 2 episodes so I wouldn’t be to quick to say that it could eventually get into the process of abstraction and it could be as terrifying and gut wrenching as this is
@@waffie6785 I mean, the thing is we've already SEEN Abstraction, like, on screen, in full display, we know HOW it works. if we didn't even know really what it was, and we slowly learned as, say, Zooble, Jax, or Gangle abstracted, it'd be so much more impactful than it just being played off as "oopsie daisy, another one went insane!"
I do have hope for the series, and I didn't mean to put it down, it's not bad by any means, this short is just what I always wanted from it and more!
10:40 I love this shows that if they had made it to Kaufmo mere _seconds_ earlier they could’ve helped him, or they could’ve checked on him beforehand

Ech
That's so cool!!
Nice!!
Kinger was so real for checking up on kaufmo
W Kinger, that part REALLY made my heart warm
*Chess ends when the king dies*
Altough it looks here like he's pushed by Caine to do it.
just like real life! our bodies and pasts do accompany us but don't make us; i truly believe digital circus is exactly about this, about finding oneself among other lost ones, uniting because of differences

Jax's problem is lack of empathy
@@awesomemantroll1088
Yeah.
You really put a lot to the character of Kaufmo, even if he canonically didint show up you made him very sympathetic, incredible job
also reed donat as jax is perfect casting
I like how the video is arranged.
In TADC:Pilot. All characters mentioned about kaufmo, Except Jax and Zooble.
Gangle and Ragatha says about them not laughing to Kaufmo's jokes.
While Kinger says that he talked to Kaufmo.
HELLO?? THE ANIMATION HAS NO REASON TO BE THIS JAW-DROPPINGLY GOOD FOR A CHARACTER THAT DIDNT HAVE A LINE IN THE SHOW OMG!!!
It had and Jack Black voiced him
This really brings home just how terrifying TADC is. Trapped forever, and the harder you search for a way out, the closer you come to being transformed into a hideous monster, locked away in the eternal dark. Your own hope damns you. Your desire to escape condemns you.

second things second now I totally headcanon Kaufmo as someone who struggled with social anxiety (or just being in the spotlight/center of attention) in real life- but because he ended up in the clown avatar Caine forced him to do comedy performances which is basically his worst nightmare. He tries his best not to embarrass himself and be at least somewhat entertaining but he was never the "funny guy" irl and no matter how hard he tries those things really don't come natural to him.

You could be right on there
Jax?
I think you’re right. I have a feeling that Jax, while possibly not directly intending to, contributed to Kaufmo’s abstraction. After all, Gooseworx said he deserves to be in the circus the most of all the characters. Maybe that’s why he didn’t go to the funeral, but also looked upset at the mention of it. There’s some underlying guilt there. I also feel like Jax might be the closest to abstraction in TADC tbh, but that’s just a theory.

Everything in this film reminds me of the Spiderverse’s style in a way, and I love it. The voice acting is also phenomenal! The way everyone sounds, it sounds exactly like all the actors of TADC. I wish I was recommended this earlier.
How did the 90s era computer render this fabulous looking animation?
Suspension of disbelief!
