      @@yayo_4506 - one of the worst parts is that there's no doubt she was kidnapped because Vitor Belfort was a big celebrity in Brazil...
      Back then, Wanderlei Silva was PRIDE 205 king, and the much more popular Brazilian amongst the hardcore crowd in Japan/Europe/Japan... but Brazilians, hardcore and casuals alike, really loved Vitor, his wife was famous as well there, etc...
      She was supposed to be ransomed to him, but things went to shit and she was killed. That wasn't long after I started to follow MMA, so I remember it well.
      What a disaster, I've always felt terrible for Vitor after that... it would still be a tragedy had she died in an accident, but getting kidnapped because she was his sister, that must have been particularly hard for him to recover.

    • @Bakaat777
      @Bakaat777 3 роки тому +6

      That's beside the point. Promoters can hype someone, and still blast them later for a bad performance. After losing to Stipe, Dana made the observation that Francis' ego HAD been a mitigating factor, in his lackluster showing against Lewis. That doesn't mean Dana thought Francis wasn't any good any more, but that he simply let his ego bring him down, instead of showcasing his skills against Lewis. We KNOW Francis' skills were still there (see Rozenstruik, JDS, Cain, Blaydes) , but his ego let him down too much... he was afraid of losing again, hence the apprehensive fighting behaviour against Lewis.
      Fight promoters HAVE to "blow" their fighters, ESPECIALLY if they look and punch like Ngannou. But if they fight like he and Lewis did, promoters pretty much NEED to "apologize" to the fans for the "bad" fights they sometimes have. Putting butts in the seats and money in the bank... that's what it's all about, and if their fighters can't do that, promoters WILL bad mouth them. Since Dana doesn't want Stipe as the champ... he's gonna hype Francis again. If he loses, he'll probably make another excuse for him. Peace.

    If you aren't in medicine, you might not know that Esophageal damage is a true emergency. It's way more dangerous than your average MMA injury. Ligaments and bones can break and that's not nearly as likely to kill you.
    The esophagus is hard to reach, the blood pours into your GI tract, so you can also vomit it into your airway, which is another huge problem that can lead to asphyxiation and pneumonia. The blood can 3rd space and gather in a way that blocks your esophagus or airway, all of this leads to greater risk for retropharyngeal abscess, which is another emergency.

      @@PeterTeal77 the ref literally told him seconds before that Aljo was downed. Yan knew exactly what he did and then acts all surprise when illegal strike ended up being illegal. But Yan has received very little (from what I've seen) backlash from it despite some bullshit excuse and apology. And now Aljo is the laughing stock of the mma community because...... he was the victim of an intentional, illegal strike. Yeh makes sense

    • @SPACYtunes
      @SPACYtunes 3 роки тому +1

      What the hell does he deserve backlash for? He made a mistake and owned up to it, what should we be lashing at him about? What, we're going to keep getting on his case about something he's already fessed up to and never made a single excuse for? Petr's mistake happened in the blink of an eye and he genuinely didn't understand what he did wrong in the moment, but Aljamain carried on his charade in the octagon for several minutes, then started a new charade about not wanting the belt which turned out to be fake as hell, and the one thing he STILL hasn't done is fess up to what he did. Petr's mistake didn't make him a lying coward the way that Aljamain's did. There is an ocean of a difference between what these guys did.

    An important point that was "omitted" during the Weidman/Mousasi fight is, while The Chris WAS winning the fight up to that point, the tide was drastically changing and Mous was starting to beat up Weidman badly. The Chris really used that as a backdoor to get a cheap win as he was getting battered and was too tired to fight back. He pulled an Academy Award winning performance there, and SO satisfyingly it backfired on him.
