Great video! I think all footwear has it's place and time.I usually wear boots when I have to carry a heavy load off trail but not for the ankle support (which is a myth in my opinion). I just hate rocks and roots hitting my ankles and debris and other stuff get into my shoes.. For everything else, I prefer some kind of trail runners with a rock plate or something similar just to give me lateral support.

So true! I will never switch to boots. The feeling of walking in trail runners is amazing, direct, and light. Great video!

Thanks Mario! I agree and no way I can ever go back. I wore a pair of hiking boots out of necessity a couple of months ago and honestly, it was not pleasurable at all. Team TR!

Great video. What shoe or boot would you recommend for a trek in Nepal, specifically Langtang Valley in October? It's a well-maintained trail, dry trail, but has a couple of day hikes up snow-covered peaks. I stopped wearing boots 20+ years ago, but haven't hiked somewhere with such high elevation. Also, for the last year, I've been battling Achilles tendonitis, so a shoe with a low drop is bad news for me. When Googled, the most common response is a boot like Salomon Quest 4 GTX, but it seems a light, breathable trail runner with the option for micro-spikes in the snow might be a lot better. I plan to go trekking every couple of years or so, since I live in Thailand, so maybe a more durable, snow-capable boot would be a better option. Google searches look like something ChatGPT would say, while diving into threads and forums, people seem to be in the know, and suggest running shoes or trail runners.

Are you familiar with the Hoka Zinal 2? I’m thinking about getting the speedgoat 5. Since you said if the shoe has a lot of cushion it puts the pressure on your knees and hips. I think my knees are worse than my feet.😂

I would recommend a less cushioned shoe if that is the case. If you go to an actual running shoe store, they should be able to help fit you better. But Hoka Speedgoats are amazing trail shoes

Are. you an international person if you are from outside the US? So US is like the mainland of the world? I'm kidding, but when you think of it is funny that americans use that term for other countries. International means across or between countries, not outside of one country. Other than that, nice video!

Not really sure what you're referring to in the video. I have lived in Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina as well as traveled to over 20 countries so I certainly don't think the US is the center of the world :)
