    I know this is an old video but my son decided to go vegetarian and eventually vegan... he’s 11. His reasons were enlightening. But as a mom this was scary I want my son nourished. But I stumbled upon your channel and this has been a god sent for beginners. We are decently low waste but still flawed in effort, his choice to go the next step has been humbling for me

    Happy birthday Sadia! I want to say thank you. You have really made my transition into the vegan lifestyle a lot easier. Whenever I get stuck on what to make for dinner or anything. My husband asks, “what does Sadia suggests”. Or he’ll ask what does Sadia say about protein or tofu. He enjoys your videos a lot as well (I think he might have a crush on you🧐🤷‍♀️)I’ve actually printed out most of your PDFs and put them into a folder as a hard copy guide to keep me on track with veganism and becoming a minimalist. I never would have decided to commit to veganism or minimalism if it weren’t for your videos, so thank you for that. You’ve helped me immensely, and I am much happier for it.

    • @MadalinaZbranca
      @MadalinaZbranca 6 років тому +10

      We need more than a documentary. We need nutrition protocols changed in med schools and nutrition schools too, because that part is outdated in most of the medical and nutrition fields. If we would keep up with the nutrition research the way we're doing with the other scientific and medical research we would be more of a vegan/ plant based population on this planet.
      Until then, we can educate ourselves and spread the word. For example, I love sharing recipes.

    • @miaduana
      @miaduana 6 років тому +1

      But how does one suffer from a protein deficiency, wouldn't they have to make a conscious effort to literally avoid all protein rich foods? Maybe they live on candy, and junk food.

    • @MadalinaZbranca
      @MadalinaZbranca 6 років тому +6

      misterFazel I don't suffer from any taste deficiency, but you are rude.
      And fish are animals too. And the dairy and egg industry is as cruel as the meat industry, if you care.
      So being vegan is an ethical choice too, not only a health choice. And that's all I have to say

    I ❤️ watching your videos! I get so much inspiration for my meal prep. I have a little tip for you when it comes to mushrooms. When I buy my mushrooms I always try to avoid packaged, when I get the home, I wipe them off and place them in a paper bag in my fridge for a few days. This wicks away moisture and it also stops them from getting that slimy film on them if you’re not going to use them right away. It also gives them a more chewy bite and slightly intensifies the umami flavor giving them a more meaty texture. I do this to my portobellos when I’m using them for a steak or burger, I also remove the full and the skin off the cap before marinating them. 😊

      I always add broccoli to a red curry (or any 'stew', really), it soaks up all the red curry flavor and does not taste like broccoli at all! :) just steamed/boiled broccoli is not really that tasty..

    • @lainpink

      It’s not an obsession, you need protein to build or keep muscle. Carbs are good but they can’t support that purpose. They’re useful for other things. Broccoli also contains a lot of protein too!

    I'd heard that steaming tempeh would help with the bitterness but had yet to see someone actually do it to help with clarification. THANK YOU this is great!

    Would you possibly be able to do a side video about tempeh a little more? I hear a lot about it and no matter how much I research I still find it daunting. Much love always Sadia, thank you for your continuous work and effort xo

    This is excellent. I also tried replacing half the tofu with tempeh. While chopping the tempeh, I noticed that it looks a bit like diced salami and gives a bit more bite. Thanks for all the great recipes!

    Your videos and the content of your information is truly superb. I am not vegan nor vegetarian but I would like to reduce my consumption of animal products and start adding vegan recipes to our diet in the hopes that we would eventually be eating a mostly, if not completely, vegan diet. I’ve been checking out other channels but I kept coming across a lot of highly processed, sugar laden foods that I don’t want to eat nor buy. I truly truly appreciate your time and effort to educate and provide truly healthy wholesome recipes. I am converting my family of 4 slowly without telling them, and your recipes are my tools. Thank you again, God bless!

    I recently discovered that lentils take taco seasoning really well. I've started using them to replace ground beef in tacos.

    After watching this and printing off the protein pdf I have realised I am definitely not eating enough protein! I would say on average I am only eating about half of what I should be for my weight - that blew my mind!! Thank you for your commitment to your channel and followers - I am a new subscriber and I am loving going back over all your videos and having the confidence of knowing you are giving educated advice and information! 🥰

    You can prepare tempé a bit faster by frying it in a pan like meat. This works well with ghee and sunseed oil and some soy sauce, garlic and vinegar or lemon juice. Just heat it up really hot. Very delicious!

    Hey, love your videos! Just one thing that is super important that I may have missed you mentioning. Plant based sources in isolation do not give a complete source of protein that our body can easily absorb, they need to be combined together. I would love it if you made a video about what plants sources can be combined to give a complete protein, thanks!

    I would love to see you post a video about some of the metabolic disorders that benefit from a vegan diet (i.e. Tyrosinemia and PKU) and how one could maximize their meals while maintaining a lower protein diet. Two of my four daughters have Tyrosinemia Type 1, we are vegan but always looking for ways to increase their intake of whole plant foods while maintaining their low protein diet.
    I feel like your knowledge as a dietician combined with your passion for a plant based diet could offer a lot of valuable tips that others with metabolic disorders would find very valuable.
