Succulent bread like no other - So easy to make, so delicious - Grandma's recipe

  • Ingredients
    400 g wheat flour, more if required
    1.5 sachets of dry yeast (7 g)
    2 pinches of salt
    100 g sugar
    50 g butter
    120 ml milk
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    250 g fresh or frozen cherries (pitted)
    1 egg + a pinch of salt to coat
    Almonds (sliced) to decorate
    Baking instructions
    00:00 Whisk together the dry ingredients
    01:07 Heat the milk and butter until melted
    01:48 Set aside about 1 cup of the flour mixture
    02:05 Add 2 eggs and vanilla extract
    02:35 Mix and slowly add the milk
    03:04 Slowly add the rest of the flour mixture
    03:18 Knead for 10 minutes
    03:45 Leave the dough to rise for 45 minutes
    04:08 Cut the cherries in half
    04:36 Flatten the dough and add the cherries
    05:36 Divide the dough into 3 pieces
    06:00 Leave the dough to rise for 2 hours (in a very warm place, e.g. in the oven at 40 °C)
    06:33 Whisk 1 egg with a pinch of salt
    06:45 Brush the bread, then decorate with sliced almonds
    07:21 Bake for 45-55 minutes at 180°C (350°F)
    07:40 After 25 minutes of baking, cover with aluminum foil if necessary (to prevent the bread from browning on top)
    08:30 Allow the bread to cool before slicing
