Star Wars The Clone Wars - (Sabaton: Price Of A Mile)

- This video took such a long time to make. However, I'm happy with the results. I did go a bit wild though with the flash effect, so let's hope I don't give anyone a seizure. Here's the Umbara arc from Star Wars The Clone Wars with Sabaton's Price Of A Mile. This video was inspired by Knight SGC's phenomenal video of the same song.

"Where is the honor in marching blindly to our death"
I like how Krell is "The general" it makes so much sense, because he didn't care about them
It was a mistake for them too because logistically you would want to preserve as much clones so they can be redeployed.
The like number is perfect.
I think not caring would have almost been better, he actively tried to kill them for his own gain and amusement.
@@bezerkoid he was simply trying to get the attention of the count. Their were tons of other Jedi who were reckless with their own clones life’s or simply did not care about them.
@@austinfogwell5864 I'm not denying that, but on some level what Krell did was worse.
"I died in hell, they called it Umbara"

@@urboijosh7 because there's this amazing language technique called metaphors
Umbara = Star Wars version of Vietnam

Pretty much.
this arc broke me. Very 'Band of Brothers'
I got more of a 'We Were Soldiers' vibe from it.

I think this song is very fitting for the Imperial Guard too.
Especially with all the gritty-grim dark stuff, it'll fit very well

Umbara: the Star Wars equivalent to 'Nam.
Jabiim could be counted as that as well
It is more similar with the Vietnam war than passchendleale
i Believe vietnam and passcendale are similar but north vietnamese used guerrilla Warfare unlike passcendale (Trench warfare)
I thought Endor was Star Wars ‘Nam
Rarely ever in history have so many suffered so much for so little as those fighting in Passchendaele.
Well the clone wars practically made history
@@thatrandomeliteultra1158 the clone wars was NOTHING compared to ww1 or ww2, the total strength of the GAR was 3.3 million, total mobilization during ww1 numbered almost 60,000,000, 39,700,000 allies and 19,500,000 axis (source www.loc.gov/collections/world-war-i-rotogravures/articles-and-essays/events-and-statistics/mobilized-strength-and-casualty-losses/)
Dedicated to the brave men of the GAR who gave their lives on Umbarra
I just came to the realization of the fact that the Clones of the 212 and the 501st fighting eachother are like the Americans and Canadians fighting eachother without knowing they were killing their own guys
“War.... It’s solemn, and it’s dirty, and the art of war is meaningless if the General is unaware of the reality on the ground. This reality will cause brave troopers to march to their deaths. There is no glory in war. Only men who will die, in body or in spirit...No man is untouched by Warfare.”

No other words could describe how good this is
I like what you did at 2:30.
Indeed.
Brilliant
Virginia Jalbert The black and white filtered photos of Hardcase and Waxer hit me the most in the whole video.
Its 4:23 but indeed its epic
This is a very fitting song for the Clone Wars. A lot seem to forget, or don't realise, it wasn't just Clones and Droids. Many Separatist citizens fought as part of their respective plantery defence forces, and it's likely hundreds of thousands of them were killed whilst fighting to protect their homes and nation from an invasion by a hostile power.
"Paying the price in young men's lives"
Most people: noooooooooooooooooo
Stalin:it's like printing my own money!
The Umbaran campaign from Star Wars the Clone Wars is based on Vietnam, and it mirrors that pretty closely. The generals betraying their soldiers by just letting them die by the thousands, the brutal jungle terrain, not to mention that they're fighting local soldiers this time instead of the droids.
Re-watching these clips in this video again makes me glad.....that Pong Krell got wasted.
Definitely
Umbara, their Vietnam.
I'd say they at least won their version of Vietnam... But then again the clones got screwed over badly in the long run.
Great work!
Hell yeah
My childhood in a nutshell
Paying the price in young men’s lives. Clones where 10 year olds sent to battle
literal child soldiers.
Guess Morals were pretty dead
They genetically engineered them so they would grow up(mentally) faster, to be able to send them to their deaths faster.
Umbara needs to be DLC for Battle Front 2.
Hell, the 3rd (I know EA is gonna make a 3rd) they should do campaign in all 3 eras.
Clone Wars: Follow the story of the 501st up to Operation Knightfall.
Galactic Civil War: Both sides get a campaign with different insights from the Empire and Rebel Alliance.
New Republic: Fighting against the First Order to keep the galaxy from falling into darkness.
I could do without that 3rd one, I'd much rather forget the sequel trilogy exists thanks, however the other two actually sound really interesting, and if it's executed well it could be really good. Unfortunately EA's the one making the game so the story will likely be... subpar, and that's being optimistic
@@olorinmagus4479
I've heard that they may not even make a 3rd. I don't know if it's because they don't want to make another exclusivity deal with the Mouse. I hope to God to see a Star Wars game made by Respawn.
@@olorinmagus4479 if you want the first two play star wars battlefront 2 (2005) it follows a clone soilder
Kurt Davis I have, the story is interesting, but also clearly not meant to be the focus of the game. It’s very short, gameplay is meh, and operation knightfall was just not fun because of how poorly balanced it was
Let’s fight for the first order and not do that stupid “they’re a rebel now!” thing that battlefront 2 did
this song perfectly describes the battle of the umbar, and even the entire clone war, "Long way from home."
Paying the price in young men's lifes "
"thousands of feet march to the beat it's an army in despair" pretty accurate too, I would say, given the sheer horror of that battle.
I was once asked what made a good soldier. I now know the answer do you?
I do
Yes
Yes, but will they?
The editing was stupendous in this video i think this is the best clone wars tribute you ever made
Perfect song for Umbara
I think "into the fire" would be even better
@@Birb_of_Judge I already made a video with Umbara and Into The Fire
@@generalofchaos5174 I saw that about 20 minutes after makeing this coment but my opinion still stands that into the fire is a better song for the battle of umbara
hehehe I like how part of the chorus is "thousands of feet marching to the beat" and then in the final bit of the song it shows clones walking _in time_ with the beat of Price Of A Mile
Wow this is absolutely epic. My favorite Song im combination with my absolute favorite story line off one of my favorite series. I love this.
May the force allways be with you
Amazing cut! The black and white "photos" of the clonetroopers give me strong WW 1 or WW 2 vibes, like when you watch some documentary and there are old photos of soldiers who fought there.
A new masterpiece :) Thank for your video
This makes me think 'how the frack did they win the battle for umbara'
Lives as the price
They're just that good
Peric victory
The last time the Jedi truly had to command men on the battlefield were in the days of the Brotherhood of Darkness and the Army of Light. To further complicate things, the clones were...well...clones. The Jedi, to try and reconcile the oath to protect Sapient life, ultimately convinced themselves that the clones were little more Sapient than the Droids they fought. Thus a number of clones rather relished Executive Emergency Order 66.
Fitting song, good work!
The jedi deserved what they got
Honestly the Jedi should have never believed that the sith were gone They were blind and that got them killed
@@directrulefromgamerchair3947 wrong
@@jasonskeans3327 ok sure, having a presumably democratic republic controlled by a weird religious cult so intolerant that they can't share an entire GALAXY with another religion to the point of going to war with them several times, all over space magic nerd disagreements, seems totally reasonable. At least the Sith kept the number of annoying space wizards with OP powers to two, and had the balls to actually rule as opposed to hiding behind a puppet democratic government
@@directrulefromgamerchair3947 1 the Republic was not controlled by the jedi 2 the sith were genocidal mad men that always attacked first 3 they only made the rule of 2 after they were beaten by the republic/jedi after they attacked them and murdered billions 4 the jedi would have been perfectly fine with leaving the Sith alone if they didn't try to conquer the galaxy witch was what they originally were planning on doing
This makes me wanna watch Clone wars again.
I loved what you did at 4:23. It was very effective and I don't know why, but it gave me a slight chill
This song with this video is perfection dude
most of all, this song is suitable for the landing on Mandalore when a lot of clones died for a planet of no value, when the general gave the order based only on personal interests
that moment when you realise that German mobilisation for WW1 totalled an army more than 3 times that of the GAR.
I am not sure how many losses the clones of the 501st got with the reckless tactics of general krell but I am sure the casualties were enormous for just capturing a capital city and a little airbase.
**Flashback Warning**
*nuts*
Seriously tho, this is great.

One of my favorite song about war and one of my favorite battle of Star Wars Universe. Good job dude !

And could you please try to do a video with the orchestral version of Powerwolfs Kreuzfeuer?

World War 1 was a truly pointless conflict, you don't need to apologise as a German as both sides were basically pouring men into meat grinders.

@@bezerkoid true that
This war happened more than a century ago now, plus there was no real good side or bad side, it was just people dying In a pointless war they didn’t understand the goal of… Because there was none. All that to say that you don’t need to apologize as a German.

Great job my friend
Great Video, actually enjoyed it, since you chose one of my favorite songs from sabaton and you picked the correct episode of SW:TCW, for it as well, Good job.
I realy hate the Jedi after this show. Years of war and they never learn to Cover there groundforces with airforce. Let's send thousends of Clones into the enemies canons, they are just slaves, tools, weapons. Use them until they break and than use more of them.
They couldn't use airstrikes at Umbara caused they were blockaded
@@DimoB8 The LAATs are able to droop Ground forces but unable to attack the Canons? Outher posibility, mark there positions and order Cruisers to handle the Problem.
@@christophlade7796 the first strike was because they managed to break through the blockade , in later episodes you see a whole Separatist fleet obliterating republic bombers and assault ships
They do we see them order an airstrike, but later the blockade prevents them, they made a gamble, get a few elite units down to the surface and see if they can make it, same gamble real generals have made with real people
Christoph Lade the cannons from cruisers would have taken out everything, a barrage of turbolaser fire has an output somewhere near a small nuclear weapon going off, so that would be a bad idea it would just eliminate their forces too, the LAATs are really fragile we see that they are very slow and are often destroyed, they land drop the troops and get out of there, they are like landing craft, you don’t use them to take out entrenched enemies
"Good luck, everyone."~ Captain Rex before going Over The Top.
The best which I saw

Still Better love story than disney trilogy
Who can say who is the general and what is the goal ? Why clones conquer some planet ? And why jedi general wanna lose own men with stupid tactics? Thanks in advance
The Jedi is called Pong Krell. The clones are attacking Umbara, which is a separatist planet.
Pong Krell is a traitor who uses suicidal tactics on purpose, so that the clones suffer major casualties. He wants to join Dooku and the separatists.
@@generalofchaos5174 Not to mention many clones were left with cases of PTSD from that result. Or just scarred from the horrors they faced in Umbara.
