    In Tanzania we have so much Aventurine its sold by street vendors in cultural centre shops. Bought a pendant last year and got another one just recently. Very beautiful stone. Also its extra vibrant in person almost jadeite like,with sparkly grain inclusions.

    I think an episode on all types of gem Feldspars would be cool. From everything to Labradorite types to Sunstone types to Moonstone types. I've found a lot of "common" Moonstones the ones that reflect light from multiple stacked layers, mostly white, grey, and black but I have found one that is almost like it wants to be blue which is very rare, and in very good quality too. I plan on making a ring with it when I can.
    I have also found a few gem quality Orthoclase (white clear ones with a little bit of translucent quality to them) and also some gem quality white Sapphire.
    All of that from a deposit of alluvial rocks taken from a river somewhere and used to fill in the walkways in the gardens in my neighborhood. If you know what you're looking for you can find valuable stones almost anywhere.

      It would be good for a video talking about many varieties of Opal at once like normal Opal, Fire Opal, Boulder Opal, Menilite as well as rare and not well-known varieties like Forcherite, Isopyre, or Quinzite.

    I'm interested in ancestralite, Gaia stone, indigo gabbro, Lemurian seed quartz, metamorphosis quartz, and realgar.
    I'd also like to see growing crystals experiments.
    I really appreciate the service you provide to learning.
    I love your energy Rebecca and I enjoy Elizabeth. She is so scientific and I love that.

    Some of these I've never even heard of before. Thanks to JTV, I've learned so much about so many gem specimens and minerals. Could you guys do a video on Black Spinels? I bought a faceted parcel from JTV years ago and gave my son 2 of them as a birthday gift. He took them to a local jewelry shop to get them turned into stud earrings and they told him they were fake because they'd never heard of them before :-(.

    The desert glass was formed when a meteorite exploded above the area, calculations were done, and concluded that it was like 3 Hiroshima bombs. This was above the area where this tektite is found. Amazing!

  • @nak8490
    @nak8490 3 роки тому +1

    I don't mind the technical babble. The process of Shattuckite after Malachite is basically Silicon replacing the Carbon in Malachite.

    As far as Gemstones that have higher dispersion than Diamond, nothing beats Sphalerite. When gem quality and faceted, it has 3x the dispersion of Diamond.

    They also tend to create and scatter material like his whenever they do weapons testing out in the desert. Incendiary devices and blasts like that of the atomic bomb, generate an enormous amount of concentrated heat when detonated. I don't know how Cleopatra could have mistaken the glass of the yellow green hue to be emerald. But maybe it's just a bit of false information passed on through the SANDS of TIME. Bahahahaha

    I wish that I could get definitive confirmation on what are some of the rocks that I’ve got in my collection.
    I got more than a few of similar rocks that are black with a rusty type of areas around all the rocks. I cracked one open and found a small pocket of crystalline carbon.
    I have another one that is the size of a child’s fist and is a reddish orange with some interesting cleavage planes. I’ve got all sizes, shapes and colors. But since most of the specimens are field collected, ID ing them on my own will be next to impossible.
    I do have different types of fossils made by a multitude of different materials.

    I have two tiny. I mean tiny titanites . They are yellow. Green and red from different angles. Is boleite related to benitoite?

    • @gems
      @gems  3 роки тому +1

      Though they can have similar blue coloring they are not related and are very dissimilar in their gemological properties. Benitoite is much harder and has a high birefringence being hexagonal (doubly refractive), while boleite has no birefringence, being cubic (singly refractive). Though boleite is the softer mineral it is about 30% more dense than benitoite.
      Benitoite is part of a larger group, boleite is not. Benitoite has a fairly simple chemical formula while Boleite’s is much more complex . Boleite is always blue but benitoite can be colorless or even pink.

    I always thought Libyan Desert Glass was created by the lightning strikes out in the desert, that are fairly common in sandstorms when all that electrical energy is released and has the opportunity to hit something conducive out in the sand. Like an old abandoned vehicle or sword or anything of that sort.
