How is scripture interpret scripture when you are reading a translation of a translation?.
Because even though the translation is worded different, the interpretation should never change.

This ignores that harpagmos(v.6) means seizing or grasping at something one does not possess. One only has to look at the related verb harpazo in the Greek NT to see this so Preston's position or argument is flawed right from the beginning. He does not seem to realise that the humility of the Son was the opposite of grasping AT an equality but emptying himself by becoming a servant. Preston seems oblivious of what the Son emptied himself of! What was it he does not say but says that the Son maintained his being God! Still, the passage says God exalted him to a higher position(so is he higher than God now?) KINDLY gave him the name. Note that all Jesus did and his exaltation is not for the glory of any triune, three-person God but the God the Father. V.11. Paul at 1.2 mentions the Christian's God and another, the Lord Jesus Christ. Clearly their God("our God" in the verse) is the Father, not Jesus Christ and certainly no three-person-god! Preston seems totally oblivious that Jesus was a perfect man, sinless, free of Adam sin. He therefore creates a straw man. This is the worst treatment of this passage I have ever come across. But what is worse is those who have praised him he is a blind guide to!
Facts and my thoughts also! Just like many other verses attempting to justify the Trinity, this verse is being made to mean something it is not saying. It gets me when people say 100% man and 100% God, doesn't that equal 200%, smh, lets not try to added to the word something that God didn't say. Think about it, if it states that Jesus was in the form of God, that means that he is not the one he is in the form of; He is in the: natural, image, form or an exact representation of God.
Although Adam was created, the scriptures called him the Son of God (created not begotten) and he was created in the image of God. So Adam should have taken the mind of Jesus Christ and, "considered equality something not to be grasped", but Adam didn't, he wanted to be or be like God which led to sin. Satan thought just like Adam and Eve being perfect but not humbling himself like Christ. This is why God exalted Jesus as Lord and Savior, taking back the reign of this world that Satan stole from Adam in the beginning!

There is no scripture that teaches that Jesus was 100% man and 100% god. That comes from the Gnostics. The scripture was just comparing him to Adam. Adam was created in the image or form of god but was arrogant and ate of the fruit trying to make himself equal with god. Jesus being the second Adam did not do that.

Adam was created in the image of God. Jesus is THAT Image hense being THE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD (The Father).

When Jesus came to earth he was 100% man, nowhere in the Bible does it say that while on earth Jesus was 100% God such a teaching is unscriptural. What Jesus was is different from most men in the aspect that Jesus was 100% perfect man, the full equivalent of what Adam was when he was 1st created by God and sin less, a distinction of significance from us the rest of imperfect mankind.To your point about Jesus humbling himself to the point of death. It's a very simple question with a very simple answer. I do believe that the young witness or whoever it was was not thinking on their feet very quickly at that point in time. I don't know if that person was a new publisher or someone who's been in Jehovah's Witnesses for a long time whoever there is an answer. A well-trained witness would have had the answer for you. And it is as follows: when Jesus came to earth as a human he made himself vulnerable to death, and he was obedient to his father, in accepting what taking the assignment that his father had given him to the extent of losing his life. To the extent of having his life taken from him unjustly by sinful humans. In that manner he humbled himself to the point of pouring out his life. And fulfilled every requirement that his father asked of him to complete the assignment with integrity and loyalty to his father that prophecy might be fulfilled.
The Father never created Jesus so therefore Jesus is not a creature. The Father didnt transfer Jesus to Earth because by the power of The Holy Spirit, Jesus put himself inside Mary's womb to have a body to operate on Earth. All the Father did was send him on a mission.

Personally, I was convicted about Shabbat, so I started resting on that day and the conviction went away. I was convicted about eating pork, so I stopped eating pork and with that I stopped eating shellfish. I started feeling bad about eating clean meat because something had to die, so now I am a vegetarian. I feel like I am preparing for the Garden of Eden/Heaven, where the animals are our friends and not our food. Messianic congregations follow Shabbat & dietary instructions. Hope this helped!
JWs believe Jesus to be a PERFECT man...not just an ordinary man... but a perfect man... equal to the perfection that Adam was. As such he was able to present himself as an equal ransom and to atone for Ademic sin,thereby redeeming Israel. So, it was as a PERFECT (sinless and therefore deathless) man that Jesus humbled himself unto death.

In anyway possible where we are able to have a conversation because I would like to know how Perry thinks that Christ physical body existed at creation but then thousands of years later it existed in Mary's womb as a fetus. Was His original body destroyed so He could become a baby again. I believe that Christ the Holy Spirit and The Father are all fully God. In just trying to understand the logic behind the form of Christs body being at creation.

But as far as the “” I am”” statement goes, The “”I AM “”statement at John 8:58 ,is a miss interpretation of Scripture in the king James ,.......If you look closely at John 8:58, you will see that the Jews were NOT asking Jesus what his NAME was, ...you will see that they were asking him a question of “”TIME “, .”” WERE YOU HERE BEFORE our forfather Abraham,.??? “” Trinitarian‘s will try to twist this reply of Jesus , into getting you to believe he’s claiming to be Jehovah of the old testament, but look closely at the scripture, Jesus was answering their question of TIME, ! Notice Jesus starts out his reply by saying , “”Truly I say to you “” BEFORE “” , Notice he uses the word “”BEFORE “”. This has been something I have been struggling with as of late. I just dont understand how if Jesus is God then how come he sits at the right hand of God in heaven? If he is God then why did he pray to the Father while here in earth. Maybe someone can help me.
I'd like to attempt to help! I'll give a brief explanation and you let me know if it helps or not.
The term "God" is not a name. It is a position, a title, or type of being. Like human beings, mankind, human, man/woman - none of these are formal names.
In the Bible, god/Gods is used to denote spiritual beings, beings not made or from our universe, and god with a capital "g" then means the Supreme Spiritual Being, formally known as Elohim or Yahweh - The Divine Creator.
The Bible teaches that God has created all things including other spiritual beings, but He is Lord/King over all. Also this title of "God" has three distinct persons, which in this context it can be applied similar to surnames, i.e God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. Three distinct persons but one God, one Supreme Entity.
Sitting at the right hand of God the Father does not mean that Jesus was not God. Instead, it confirms His position as God because the throne of God is only reserved for God, so sitting at His right hand means Jesus pulled up another throne chair to sit next to the Father.
Prayer is simply spiritual communication to God, and Jesus wanted to talk with His Father.

Nothing or no one is equal to God. But we all became gods wen Adam and eve ate the fruit. Also Jesus is a grandson of God Luke 3 v 23-38 shows the bloodline from Jesus back to Adam. It was the fact that God breathed some of his spirit into Adam since then only few people carries God natural spirit within them. Others has the bloodline of the fallen angels who came and had kids with the humans. This is why Jesus had the spirit of God within him. I'm almost complete wit breaking it down fully. I have been being guided for some reason not fully sure why but hey I'm down for the father he haven't saved my life all those times for nothing . been shot in the head on the left behind my ear and the bullet is in the right side of my neck close range wit a 9mm. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I honestly don’t see how this is scriptural. If Jesus is God as you say, why does the same phillipians chapter 2 say
“Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Notice how it does not say, to ‘the glory of jesus the father’. If Jesus was/is God as you say would he not also be the Father. Jesus never said he was the father. He instead said he was “one” with the father. There’s a difference to this, just like how an egg has three parts that make up its whole, as does the trinity. Many Christians don’t realize this, they instead say that Jesus is God, to me this is a false teaching because scripture does not say this.
Hey, I suggest you watch this video where he unpacks Jesus' unity with the Father and Spirit. They are one God (same essence), though different in roles.

Thanks for trying to aid my understanding, but we seem to be of the same belief already. I believe Jesus attained oneness with the father since that is what the bible says, but I don't believe he is the father because he never claimed to be God. @@legacy.7139
@@Shaolin-Jesus we agree that Jesus is distinct from the Father (he exists as the Son). However, we disagree whether He is God or not (or whether he claims to be God or not). I believe Jesus distinguishes himself from the Father (in role and purpose) but also makes it clear that He is God and one with the Father and The Spirit (in essence or reality).
An important example of this is in John 8 where the Pharisees accuse him of being demon-possessed because of His claimed divinity and unity with the Father. He then claims to have known that Abraham awaited His day and the Pharisees accuse him of blasphemy because he could not have known that without divine foreknowledge. See verse 58 where Jesus claims to be "I AM" existing before Abraham was, prompting the Pharisees to attempt to stone him for such blasphemy (it would be blasphemy if Jesus was a mere man).

The text should be read as it’s written..... “He counted not EQUALITY WITH GOD as something to be grabbed “. Though in the FORM/LIKENESS of God (The Father)because Jesus is the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON(Naturally gives Him the God,’Father’s Nature’ and Likeness/Form.... He did not think or try to claim EQUALITY with the FATHER. The Father is always GREATER than the Son/Daughter/Children even though they share the same Nature (what brings EQUALITY)with him( concerning HUMANITY) but the hierarchy remains that the Father is Greater. Jesus attested many times that His FATHER is GREATER than He Is. They are EQUAL IN NATURE and NOT COEQUAL.
Compare the text with Isaiah 14:12-14 which makes us know that someone wanted EQUALITY with GOD and wanted to GRAB it and actually FOUGHT to get it....Revelation 12:7.
Read the scriptures Exegetically(getting out what is there) rather than Eisegetically(Reading your thought into the text). I also understand that language and communication are a very tall order for this generation especially. We run 🏃♀️ ahead of the MESSAGE because we think we have arrived. Proverbs 30:6 warns us to be careful about ADDING to words spoken or written.

At 4:19 you ask how can Jesus humble himself to death ... well he, as were Adam and Eve, was created perfect... unlike them He did nothing wrong... 1Peter 2:22 "who did not sin"... so he had to humble himself to death because he did nothing deserving of death ... he was sinless... no reason to die... Romans 6:23 "wages of sin is death"...for the only mention of death for perfect Adam and Eve was if they disobeyed God...sinned... Gen 3:3 where God said with reference to the tree in the middle of the garden "Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die." where does Jesus claim to be equal to God... how is it you cannot see the clearly defined relationship of a Father and Son... The God of the Bible is not a trinity
