The epi will reach a much larger market being its a lot more affordable than a custom shop Gibson. Still a very nice guitar. The epi 58 explorer i played was so nice i wanted to take it home

Just ordered one today. Joe sold me on it. I've never bought a signature model anything before but, in addition to his musical excellence, it appears that Joe is also a gifted salesman. Can't wait to see how it sounds in the studio.

Joe Bonamassa is one of the greatest guitar players out there. I got his Epiphone 335 and wish I could afford this SG it’s a good Lookin and great sounding guitar
I swear, Joe B. could make a crappy Teisco MJ-2 sound slack-jaw awesome! The man is that phenomenal! Seriously though, I think it's very impressive that Joe is doing what he can to promote a dealer that has been going through its sub-par years...all because he -- like so many of us -- recall spending countless hours in places like that as a wide-eyed youngster. Joe Bonamassa- the most down-to-earth, approachable music celeb I've ever witnessed. Really glad I came to see you in Phoenix 2022.
I adore this young man. Not only is he interesting to listen to…his musical gift is blissful. And…he has a great voice too. Most of all…he’s naturally nice! Came across him a few years ago watching Eric Clapton whom I’ve been a fan of since the 60’s…but there is something about Joe which sets him apart from the rest + I’ve been an avid fan since.
That’s the best business model I ever saw. Joe buys hundreds of vintage guitars and then reisssues them with Gibson and Epiphone. That’s not a critic, btw. I really like Joe. Kudos to him!

@@Ottophil I didn’t say you had to, I just mocked a certain crowd who will overpay because of brand loyalty. I’ve owned hundreds of guitars and dozens of Gibsons, never had a 6 figure job. I’m also not a brand fanboy, the company has gone from being for players to deliberately aiming itself as a luxury brand item. They know it, so do most of its customers.
I have several Epiphone signature models by several artists. Looking forward to getting this in about a week when it arrives. Been reading many bad comments on this and on Joe. Many comments are on the pickups. Even the best pickups change over time. I would probably say 63 Gibson pickups probably sound close to this. I will probably change out the pickups some day like I do on all my guitars. As for Joe....worry about yourself let Joe worry about his self.
“Affordable” $1400 Epiphone. Lol just get a Warmoth and spec it out the way you want for half the price. Phill McNight made a video recently about the death of the midrange price guitar and I think this sig model is a perfect example of that.
No matter how you slice it, $1,400.00 is a lot of money for a chinese made epiphone. A few short years ago, you could have gotten a really nice USA made Gibson for this price.
My SG Tribute was just over $1300 total when i bought it in '21. Granted it's an entry level Gibson but the materials and the craftsmanship are miles above any foreign made guitars I own. It's not worth going over $1000 for something not USA made in my very uneducated opinion.
If they added high quality unique pickups I would understand it more. But ProBuckers? Really? They're not bad pickups by any means but this "great value for the dollar" thing is a bit out of touch. Certainly no hate for Joe, but it's a lot of dough for what it is.
My dad just showed me this guitar today and I have already fallen in love with it! I have been looking at the Gibson SG 61 reissue with the sideways vibrola, but for the price, this one is definitely a contender, plus it still comes with the vibrola, not the sideways like I’m looking for, but really, the maestro is better. Great job Epiphone, you may have just made me pass up a Gibson for this!
It's not accurate though. The horns don't match and they are regular modern day Epiphone. This guitar is way overpriced for an Epiphone.I can buy a Gibson for that.
I bought mine at a JB show (Spfld. Ma. USA) this past Friday (11/24/23) they had 4 of them for sale for $1500 total. ( tax free ) also included in that price was 2 meet and greet tickets for any future show of my choosing.
Love the guitar. Losing the Ephiphone headstock and adopting the Gibson headstock was such a great idea. Personally I love Bonamassa's name on the case. He's an astounding talent whose musical ability is only eclipsed by his humility and decency. Joe Bonamassa is a righteous dude.

Some brands change w the times. China is the new Japan in terms of overseas quality. Having owned and played some of the new China Epi's , their QC is getting better w each offering. Not to say Japan is slacking as I have a Gretsch Falcon that is on par w any Gibson. I would like to see Indonesia step up as I love that country and their people.
@rlm4471 no, Indonesia is superior factory, especially Indonesia world factory where my Dean, Hamer and schecter guitars are coming from. Japan is right there with Indonesia world factory and the Korean factory are kinda rare today but they have guitars from 1999-2007 that we can look back on and see where they were at and they aren't beating Japan or Indonesia world factory back then nor today.

Imagine dropping $1,500 after taxes on an Epiphone. You're not even getting Gibson pickups! I typically love Epiphone, I have two of em. But recently the prices are getting unnecessarily high
I agree. I’ve been playing guitar since 2009, and i became familiar with prices over years. Now i’m in ireland and i’m seeing the highest price I’ve ever seen. They are exaggerated. Also for medium players. If u want a cheap product you can only aim at very poor quality china products. Yet if you want something a little better, not less of 3-400 hundred euros. I saw too many gibson models from 3 to 8000 euros. Crazy

I would love to see a 2 pickup version in cherry, (without the gold), Ebony fingerboard and Custom headstock designs. Add a Bigsby and I'd be all over it.
Now, this is an axe I'm willing to trade my 8 string for! I've always wanted a 3-pickup SG, but never had the money pay off a $8,000 to a +$15,000 guitar from Gibson. A $1,300 guitar, though, is something I'm more than willing to pay for. Even if the pickups aren't a set of Gibson Burstbuckers, I can always go for a set of Seymour Duncans if I'm not happy with the sound. Besides, I'm more of a metal guitarist than a blues player.
Sounds great in his hands, but what's the point of a 3 pickup SG (or any 3 PUP guitar, for that matter) that offers no PUP blending options like a Strat? Should come with at least a 5 way switch. The middle position blend of a Standard 2 PUP SG is one of my favorite rhythm tones.
Nice enough. Epiphones are perfectly good instruments. And far more reasonably priced than their Gibson counterparts. I don’t need three pickups. Probably don’t even need two. I would never pay for a signature model. Certainly wouldn’t make me a better player. Joe B. is a very skilled player. Even if I had his actual guitar, my skills would be unaffected.

It even has real mother of pearl block inlay, a bridge with nylon saddles and even a specially sculpted heel. All awesome. Then you had to release it with a damned vibrola and no Gibson pickups. RELEASE A STOP TAIL VARIETY WITH GIBSON PICKUP'S. FOR THE LOVE OF SCIENCE AND MUSIC. PLEASE. Otherwise, everything about this guitar screams awesome. Would like to see the rest of the binding ambered up too though. Just not that tint of yellow. A more muted amber would be perfect.

That's a fact. I'm not bagging on them, just making the obvious observation. At 1400, it’s a hard pass. Beautiful guitar but at that price, I’d look for a used Gibson SG. The Lucille signature epiphone is 900, which should be the price point for this model.
Gibson owns Epiphone . Gibson is trying to cut out their $1000-$2500 line and move it to $2000+ . The cost of labor is increasing because the cost of living is so high , especially in Nashville . Gibson never shows "Epiphone factory tour" on their youtube site LOL
Not a fan of the stark contrast between the white to yellow binding from the neck to the headstock. Makes it look like it had a neck break and someone put on a different headstock. Otherwise, sounds and looks great.
guitar center said they would drop price $140 because i bought last 3 guitars 2020 black beauty(probuckers) --2021 Lazarus --2022 (burstbuckers2/3) ES 335 1962(burstbuckers 2/3) this new SG is pricey i could get a Gibson SG with 3 pickups for cheaper
Epiphones we're never meant to be a budget brand in the first place and they weren't until Norlin ruined them when they took over Gibson..2019 it all ended when JC Curliegh Restored Epiphone back to where they should have always been

That's not a "Gibson" headstock. It's an Epiphone "Kalamazoo" headstock, has been around for a long, long time.

I think China is the new South Korea, and South Korea is the new Japan, and Indonesia is the new China. Japan is on par with the US, or better.

At 1400, it’s a hard pass. Beautiful guitar but at that price, I’d look for a used Gibson SG. The Lucille signature epiphone is 900, which should be the price point for this model.

Gibson owns Epiphone . Gibson is trying to cut out their $1000-$2500 line and move it to $2000+ . The cost of labor is increasing because the cost of living is so high , especially in Nashville . Gibson never shows "Epiphone factory tour" on their youtube site LOL
They are for people who actually have to work for a living unlike Gibson
Not a fan of the stark contrast between the white to yellow binding from the neck to the headstock. Makes it look like it had a neck break and someone put on a different headstock. Otherwise, sounds and looks great.

price too high for Probucker pickups that's a hard no this year put different pickups in it to charge $1400
guitar center said they would drop price $140 because i bought last 3 guitars 2020 black beauty(probuckers) --2021 Lazarus --2022 (burstbuckers2/3) ES 335 1962(burstbuckers 2/3)
this new SG is pricey i could get a Gibson SG with 3 pickups for cheaper
Epiphones we're never meant to be a budget brand in the first place and they weren't until Norlin ruined them when they took over Gibson..2019 it all ended when JC Curliegh Restored Epiphone back to where they should have always been

Nothing says "steal this guitar" like a name printed on a case indicating a special edition inside.
The only thing that's throwing me off is how the binding around the fretboard does not match the headstock
Sounds great. But Bonamassa is playing it, so anything would sound great.
The only problem is excellent guitar players, such as Joe Bonamassa here, could be playing a tin can and make it sound great. 😂 All the same, he makes me want to get one...
My headstock says Epiphone it will never say Gibson

yup i feel you,i’m lefty handed as well epiphone doesn’t make any signature models in a lefty version,schecter and kiesel do that’s why i stick to those brands

It's a nice guitar that is no way near worth its $1400 price tag. At least include Gibson Burstbuckers in it for the price.
