Love this review. Sometimes I want a classic old school hoppy, malty and bitter ipa. I can always count on torpedo. SN beers seem to hold up better than most WC IPAs.
You are much more tolerant. For me, not in the cooler, any more than 30 days, it had better be a Pliny or Heady. In the cooler, 60 days max, maybe 90 days if I am being a little froggy. Had a mixed 12 pack of Stone, in the cooler, 3 months old, and they were fine, but they tasted like they were 3 months old. Should have gone with the SNPA, but I wanted a mixed pack, rather than 12 of the same.
my all time favorite beer. good malty backbone with that crisp, hoppy finish. wish i could get those cans. can only get bottles ($9.99/6pk in south Louisiana).
I really like this beer too. I think that Lagunitas Maximus is far more bitter. FYI: Detroit area Total Wine stores sell Celebration Ale for $19.99/12 pack. But you then have to add another $1.20 for deposit.
I disagree, I can enjoy maximus occasionally, whereas torpedo from the first and only time I drank it was a challenge. Celebration is slightly more tolerable if not for being too piney for my liking
As a regular Torpedo consumer I can confirm that there should be a canned on date on the package. It is in black and difficult to spot. My personal policy is to get this with 2 months or less in the can. This one really is the fresher the better as some tropical flavors are available for ultra fresh cans. I always purchase an IPA from a cooler.
yeast and fermentable sugar are added to finish the beer also we stored the beer at approx 60f for 10 to 12 days and release for distribution at approximately a month Cheers 🍻.
hmmm.. i had arrogant bastard the other day... I would say AB is probably more bitter. But Ruination would be more bitter (the original recipe they were putting out recently)
The last couple of times HG has bought Torpedo, it has been super foamy and a bit off in flavor - almost a little stale. The dates have been decent, but nothing super fresh. It is still good, but it seems a bit muted from what we remember from last year. 🤷🏽♂ Sierra Nevada is still fantastic and top tier though.

I guess it's the can conditioning and their QC.
Probably my favorite Grocery store beer, and served as a gateway IPA for me. Love it.
You prefer it over Pale Ale and Atomic Torpedo?
Same here. Brings me back. Haven't had it in years
The shelf life on torpedo is pretty decent. Nothing beats an old school bitter ipa!
Love the bitterness on this one!
One of da best, haven't seen it in a while
Hope you get some fresh!
Torp is one of my favorites! one of the OG IPAs. Still consistently good over the years.
I wish I had it in my blind tasting!
I enjoy buying beers directly from a local brewery. Just knowing it's supremely fresh makes the experience enriching.
That's the way to get the freshest beer.
torpedo lasts forever in the fridge, its so consistent with its flavor profile. I always keep it around when I get hazy fatigue.
For sure, that bitterness and malt is a great touch.

Good stuff. I try to be as picky as you.

I don't get bottles nor that price!
Torpedo is a classic bitter ipa.....definitely a mainstay in my mancave fridge!
Glad you're still getting it. They only show 12 packs here.

Make sure you use the Sierra Nevada website rebate!

I drink this regularly and have for many years. One of my go to beers.
Great beer to have around!

Dang, that sounds amazing when that fresh.
That’s relatively fresh all SN beer is canned conditioned and remains at the brewery 1 month before distribution
I keep hearing that. So they can it with that date, then it stays to condition. That's amazing. So I guess mine was 2 months fresh.

I bought some Celebration Ale yesterday for $9.49 a sixer at Kroger. Used to drink these Torpedos all the time. Solid brew.
Great price!
I bought some Torpedo (bottled), today.
Hope you enjoy it! Cheers!
To my mind, the super-sweet malt base clashes with the hop bitterness. I prefer IPAs with dry malt bases.
I like having both around.
Last year at my local Costco I bought celebration 12 pack for 14.49 I'm waiting for it lol
Good luck! Get some!
I love this beer, and Stone arrogant bastard also excellent!! Proper bitter beers are the best!!! Another excellent one is Karl Straus Tower 10.
Bring back bitterness! BBB
@@DarwinsBeerReviews what's BBB?
@@9hundred67 Bring back bitterness
@@DarwinsBeerReviews yes please 🙏🙏🙏
Tower 10 was one of the greatest and Stone IPA and Sculpin IPA, were all fantastic beers that I miss. Nowadays there are too many fruity fruit juices.

Love some AB. Wish they kept releasing that OG Ruination.
$12 for a 6 pack i wish...over here in the land down under it's $40!!
That’s insane. A 6 pack costs $40?
@wesleyregan yes, for Sierra Nevada Torpedo foookin mental pricing over here. $12 is a dream!!
@@wesleyregan 40 AUD or USD?
There's gotta be better IPA for cheaper made locally in AUS.
@@thomaslynch2626 Australian dollars
I first had Torpedo in the Snow Pack that Sierra Nevada used to release for winter. It's the beer that got me into IPA's. I didn't like it at first.
Glad you got into it then.

Sorry to hear it wasn't of quality. Hope you find better batches of SN.
Bitter is better! Love Torpedo. Bring back Ruthless Rye!
I hope they do... It's been a minute now...
i like cold torpedo!
Didn't know that was a thing. I'll keep my eye out for it. Cheers!
I wish they would go back to bottles, taste weird in the can
Pour it into a glass. It's the same liquid.
Not a fan of IPA, I do not do the bitter
Sorry. Hope you find other brews/reviews you like.
3 month old torpedo is not old at all
I guess I found out they already can condition it for a month...
SN is really good for like restaraunts or bars that don't know beer---- you might luck out and they have SN. Pale Ale I would drink no problem.
And this too no problem.
