Great info... I'm already invested in a complete DJI setup! As you've stated it's expensive! You need special brackets to hookup both the Rode or DJI mics to the 360 selfie stick, whereas your setup only requires you to plug the receiver into the X3 mic adaptor A++++!
Good review. While this mic isn't available from Amazon Canada, you've inspired me to try a comparable wireless mic for about the same price. Fingers crossed that it works as well as the Movo.

I was out last week in the wind with my 360x2 and it was pretty bad. So bad I got an x3! I also acquired the mic setup you've tested and, even tho I haven't had it out yet, I'm so encouraged! You sound great with the new gear.
The Hollyland Lark M1 is as good as the Rode for $149 from Amazon and it comes with a charging case. Not the cheapest but middle of the road pricing for a solid product.

I was thinking same thing for using on Bike. and what I would do is either buy a female /male 3.5 mm audio or.. what i think would be better is... get a female/male usb-c connector and keep plug/receiver away (near handlebars or somewhere else.. ) so only thing you have coming out of camera is the extension cable. which of course you keep via "stitch line" so it wont come out in shot..

Mahalo for finding and demoing this mic. I’m very pleased with the sound. Some things to add to the story could be battery life, how long befor recharge but I suspect there is enough.

I'm not a professional vlogger or big influencer so I don't need to get an expensive mic (I can tho) since only like 100 ppl are gonna watch my videos. this mic is really a great choice. and I'm so glad that you let us hear the built-in mic while going fast, I didn't expected it to be that bad 👍👍👍👍 definitely getting a cheap mic is better than nothing.

I have Insta 360 X2 and I ordered the 3.5mm jack version from your Amazon link. It seems Amazon UK only sells the USB-C or Lightning version. I completely agree with you and for me also, Rode Wireless Go II or DJI Mic was overkill for my usage - casual road cycling blogging. I've also ordered this for the One X2 but I noticed how on the box it displays a TRRS mic connection but the actual product in the video it was a TRS mic connection so I'm kind of confused which one it is. I'm also from the UK so had to use the link provided to order from US. Been waiting 3 weeks for it to arrive and if it's a TRRS connection then it's not going to work in the One X2 mic adapter and will have to return it...

Just ordered one - thanks! I am wondering about the receiver that plugs into the adapter w the 3.5mm jack possibly rotating and then appearing outside the stitch line and/or perhaps detaching. I plan to use it with my X3 on both a motorcycle and a boat. I’ll probably add some black electrical tape to help keep it secured and plugged in to the adapter. As others said, a wind muff, or even some sponge taped over the microphone(s) will help alot with the wind noise. Thanks for the video - very helpful!

I don't think they will because bluetooth connection has too long of a delay for audio transmission. In other for bluetooth to work they'd have to use something much better which might drive the cost of the camera up.
Great sharing and alternative to Rode wireless mic. May I know if use this setup for motovlog, with speed of riding, will the mic move or turn which will eventually be captured in the 360 footage?

Great demo with the mic. What do you recommend with the in camera db setting on the X3 with this mic? Also when using two mics at once on the X3 stereo setting, will it record the mics on separate channels?
sorry i'm just now seeing this. I use -7 gain on mine because the mic is usually around my neck area. And i'm not sre it's separate chanels but the two mics can be in other rooms and the audion will both be in the video. so my guess single chanel.

I have Insta 360 one R with two lenses model and by recomandation I bought Saramonic and Boya but sound quality on both is crap!! connected to my PC both mic sound excellent (pure HI-FI audio) . so there is something wrong with SW or HW inside camera. maybe SW use some mp3 codec 64 or 96 kb/s . So I don`t think they made any improve on this newer model X3

My question is, I have the same el cheapo mic but not the regular 3.5mm jack but usb-c male, & I'm aware the X4 has a usb-c port as well, can I skip the audio adaptor & just plug my usb-c mic directly into the cam or one always have to use the adaptor to get audio? My bad i'm just now seeing this, but no usb-c cable will not work for the port, only 3.5mm jack. The only other way is dji's bluetooth microphone, but that's super expensive

I mean, this whole vlogging rig it would snap off even the strongest of selfie sticks. I believe it could only be handheld at this point or what do you think?

@@KingKola_ In the video, your mic has a TRS connector. On Amazon, the mics have a TRRS connector. This could be cause for concern, depending on the design of the X3 mic adapter. However, I've now checked the X3 site and in fact the illustration of the adapter shows a TRRS connector beside it, so it does appear that it works with both standards. Thanks!
Great job on this! I'm in the same boat and not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars for a mic solution. I think this is do-able. Can you tell me if you feel this plugged into the side is fairly secure? I will be using this on an ATV.

I have been using a similar system (GRTPRTS Lavaliere Mic) and it works pretty decently. You can also get tiny "dead cats" to help cut wind noise.

Yes you can and i've tried it, but unfortunately there's so much lag and delay it makes it unuseable. Also, audio seems to breake often.

@Sir-Kay I already do that with my set up, and it all seems to be fine so far. I also don't typically extend my selfie stick all the way out.

I've tried that, but insta360 doesn't support audio pass through via usb c. I tried 2 different brands and neither works.
Seems like Amazon is showing a TRRS mic while you received a TRS mic which is the correct one for camera (TRRS for smartphone)

@@KingKola_ hmm. The illustrated connector still seems to be wrong, unless TRRS would in fact work.
@@Ozpeter works for the X3 as shown in the video, also works for my Sony camera. Not sure what you plan on connecting it to.
@@KingKola_ In the video, your mic has a TRS connector. On Amazon, the mics have a TRRS connector. This could be cause for concern, depending on the design of the X3 mic adapter. However, I've now checked the X3 site and in fact the illustration of the adapter shows a TRRS connector beside it, so it does appear that it works with both standards. Thanks!

Great job on this! I'm in the same boat and not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars for a mic solution. I think this is do-able.
Can you tell me if you feel this plugged into the side is fairly secure? I will be using this on an ATV.
I think you'd have to use something like a clear tape to secure it.

Yes it can, but there will be serious audio lag, and noice cancelation isn't great.
