Because of this video i have made my mind up to purchase the X4. I will be using it for POV vlogs i will make for my 11 year old son. I work with machinery, and i thought the coolest thing to do would be to show him with the camera. Please make more videos, this is literally the coolest camers.
Many awesome X4 videos on UA-cam then you got me with the horizontal mount I ordered immediately. Balance is everything in 'life' including playing with these cameras! I couldn't figure out moving the power button to the X4 record/shutter button but then works on the lens/menu button. Using the insta360 smart phone app or the GPS Preview Remote none of this matters. As for pro audio so many videos promote the DJI Mk II or the Rode Go II. May I suggest Synco G2(A2) that has excellent pro audio at less than half the cost and maybe 1/3 the cost as they come with wind screens that lock on, lavalier mics and lots of cables. Later Synco versions have added internal mic recoding. Using the Unlanzi PT-20 X3/X4 mic mount they work the same way and the insta360 cameras doesn't see them. Save some money. Regards

I’m a senior citizen so I don’t do much action other than tennis, but I think this camera will work very well with my family outings, Tennis, personal, and travel vlogging. Thank you so much. My pleasure, yes the insta360 will be great for your use case, i took the x3 with me on a trip to Bali and was able to capture incredible drone like videos. The x4 is definitely a good enough upgrade, more features than people actually realize.
@@KingKola_ I covered my tennis practice this morning with my iPhone 15pro max with usb-c wireless mic that I think will work with the Insta 4x and thinking it's going to be much different with the new camera. BTW I've added to my Amazon Basket with your link, along with a few accessories.
@ez4u2cthomaspolk thanks, by the way, a usb- c mic won't work when connected directly into the insta360 unless your mic has a 3.5mm trs jack. A lot of lavalier mics come with both, but some don't, just fyi

I generally mount my cameras for tennis on a monopod that the wind knocks over all the time it happen today.
Great tips. I'm not interested in the horizontal mount but I did order a (vertical) quick release since seeing your video. One thing though. Had a selfie stick break on my while on a ride. Switched to a more durable monopod. No issues since and still invisible.
This is the Horizontal mount sold for an X3 correct? And this is still working with the X4 but is the reason the power button is covered yes? I can't see one that is specifically for the X4 but did wonder if the X3 one fitted.
Good job! I never thought of mounting my X3 horizontally. Not convinced to upgrade to the X4 as yet though. Affirmative on those quick release devices. I have three of them to switch out my Ace Pro and X3 with my various selfie sticks and Telesin neck mount. Very handy and well worth the investment. Although I keep my gear in topnotch condition, that rubber lens protector, somehow over time, eventually scratched my front lens. The good news is that it was covered by the Insta360 FlexiCare coverage, which I highly recommend, although the entire troubleshooting/replacement camera process took about a month. After that experience, I now protect my X3 lenses with the "Puluz (Upgraded) Lens Guard for Insta360 X3 Protective Cover Case for Insta360 Camera Accessories (Optical Glass Lens Cap)", available on Amazon. @@KingKola_ In your case, I'd keep both X's handy for backup. I had great plans, including underwater clips, for the X3 during my recent Jan. Maui trip. Once there, I discovered the lens issue; hence, was restricted to my other action cams and Mav 3. So much for Maui 360 degree shots until next time!
Does the footage change when shooting horizontally? You're the first that I see that shoots that way. Your footage seems fine but in terms of it rendering into the editing software. Is there a portrait quick release mechanism for both the stick and a chest rig?
Cool review dude ) like it it’s bad that the prices for accessories for Insta360 are too high. This is their policy, the main income is from accessories, not from cameras
YES!, i'm really thinking about making a video on that because no one seems to be mentioning that, but most of them are sponsored so it makes sense i guess. I had to sell my x3 and almost all the accessories because they weren't backwards compatible with the x4.

I currently use rode wireless me, which is cheaper than the pro. But all those you mentioned are great alternatives as well.

Damn, wear the head mount to clear a room on 30 seconds
The advantage of using a big SD card is that you dont have to bring a computer with you and dont use space on you phone... thats great for long trips

Yeah i had a stick break on me in the past, but the ones i have now are very sturdy. I mount them on my bike extended with no problems so far.
Is there a big difference with shooting landscape vs portrait? Does the footage come out differently? It seems to be made for portrait so I'm curious.

No everything about the video or editing stays the same no matter the orientation. The quick release i linked will work

No when no extended, yes when fully extended you can see the hand part but not the rest of the stick.
