      PS your channel and teaching style make these techniques seem easy enough that even a dummy like me can take a stab.
      Ordered a basic wok and gas burner ("hob"?) setup to make sure I'm getting proper heat.
      Feels like you are showing and explaining the real deal, rather than overly simplifying for the western home cook.
      Anyway thanks for what you do!

    Audio does not match the video at 6:54

      Most of the non-vocal audio editing doesn't match the video at all... Very lazy job from whoever put it together. Food prep and recipe looks dope though

    I use olive oil for all my wok food. Is that a no go? I cant find the right oil to use, and I like olive oil :)

    • @davidlee5580
      @davidlee5580 2 роки тому +2

      My understanding is that olive oil has a low smoke point and therefore it's not suitable for this kind of cuisine, which requires a high heat. When it starts giving off smoke, olive oil produces dangerous compounds which have negative health consequences if consumed.

    • @luke8261
      @luke8261 2 роки тому

      Peanut oil (called ground nut sometimes) adds an interesting flavour and I think has a higher smoke point. Its also supposedly a bit healthier.

    • @davidlee5580

      BUT I've read contradictory reports online about olive oil - some nutritionists say it retains most of its health benefits and is safe when used for frying at home, and only becomes harmful when used over long periods industrially, in restaurants, etc.

    • @SchoolofWok

      I would recommend vegetable oil, or any high smoking point neutral flavoured oils. Olive oil is more likely to catch a light and release harmful fumes in wok cooking - Lee
