Boxing fans listen…. the point of sparring is not a Winner or a Loser You don’t spar to go in and “Win” Sparring is training & sharpening skills this was a great showing of just that

    • @Bangbangbigelow

💯 Exactly, you could be practicing something that you’re not very good at like hook off the jab for example. Naturally, you would look like you’re getting beat up because it’s something that you’re PRACTICING. Kind if like, practicing a layup with your left hand when you’re actually right handed in basketball. Anyone that doesn’t know you gonna be like “oh he sucks” 😂.

They both are real champs as well so they don’t need the ego boost of, “I hurt him”, go to any gym with seasoned vets this is what you see. No knock outs occur until some young brash guy needs to be humbled.

Actually sparring is simply big gloves and headgear. There is no one set way to spar. You can go light practicing stuff or you can treat it like a real fight. As long as you got 16oz and headgear it’s sparring

Sparring your teammates "own gym" or retired goats sparring should always be at a steady pace to help growth when it's other gyms that's when u can turn up or if ur in camp and bring in sparring partners that's when u turn up
I was sparring a heavyweight who a new coach at my boxing gym and I got in no head gear and no mouth pieces he tried throwing bombs but didn't understand why he only landed 5 or 6 clean punches in 3 rounds when I gave the new coach my word I wasn't throwing but let him throw as much or hard as he wants...
Which is also something we don't see anymore experienced boxers in with guys wanting to go pro or looking for fights and strictly working defense with them coming at you.

His discipline should be commended after all these years being at the top. Perfect mixture of hard-work, skill, and talent. Most world class boxers lay off the gas a little bit once they finish the fight, and they start getting serious with their workout regime and diet at the start of training camp. But if you look at Bud he stays in great shape all year round and you can tell because his body is acclimated to that weight range, whereas other guys look dry during weigh-in because they lose mostly water weight.
I love watching generational talent that have the work ethic and skill to back it up. Bud, Inoue, Usyk are in a class of their own.

No he’s not being arrogant. A $40.00 Pay Per View sparring session between Andre Ward and Bud Crawford would earn both of them with 156,615 views $3,132, 300 apiece! I chuckled when people complained about them sparring and that Bud couldn't gain INVALUABLE knowledge because Dre is no longer "Active". It's like telling Bud not to read any more books because he acquired "enough" knowledge and insight.
Boxing and sparring specifically is not a practice of recklessness, but a tune up for the mind and to give looks.
•He gave Bud the wild over hand right look.
    •Pressure with a clinch.
•Sharp footwork, to prepare Bud to win the foot war.
•Distance management and a challenge for Bud to mentally combat that and cut off the ring.
    • Also, just the look of training your eye to a much bigger man, as he'll be stepping up to 154. Mitigates the shock on fight night of Madrimovs size differential perhaps. This process was all about Chess + MENTAL prep. The physical attributes, intangibles and SKILLS Bud already has--- Dre is helped him unlock some intangibles he hasn't had to use YET.
Looking forward to see the performance on Aug 3rd.
