    Always thought the storm chaser seemed like a super cool board, looks like they made it even better! I agree though, the simple black (and even black and white topsheet) is more fun for me

      Yeah, It wasn't a deal breaker but it would have been nice to have.

    Thanks for the sharing❤. I am 5"11 92kg.
    I am going to have a japow trip next year and the japan weather forecast is saying it will be very pow next year.
    Currently i am having a springbreak slush slasher 2324 151.
    But i am thinking on buying the 2425 stormchaser or the k2 special effects.
    Would you please give me some advice 🙂 🙏?

      I would strongly suggest the Storm Chaser. I rode the Special Effects (haven't put up a review though) and liked the Storm Chaser much better. You also have an exceptional groomer board with the new Storm Chaser that also grips super well in hard snow so if the weather doesn't cooperate you will still have a time carving up groomers.

    Man after hearing this review I'm tempted to buy another Storm Chaser. I sold mine for all the reasons you mentioned. I really could only bring it on perfect days and it kinda sucked for groomers and getting around from one pow stash to another. Seems like they fixed everything I didn't like except for getting rid of the super slippery black base.

      You said it. It's a board I never was interested in unless there was deep clean pow but now it's a board I would like to own and ride in all conditions.

    Thanks for the review, how does it compare to the Korua Dart with the new camber?

      I have the same question, I want to take one of these two boards to Japan

    • @ANETOKILLE
      @ANETOKILLE 3 місяці тому +1

      @@marcyotei The Storm Chaser has a very short effective edge compared to the Dart, In my case focusing more on all mountain, pow+carving, I would be leaning Dart. I am sure James would give you good advice for Japan, but they are 2 very different boards for pow IMO, like the SC is a short fat and the Korua is more meant to be ridden bigger.

      It really depends on how you ride and your specs. If I were going to Japan, I'd bring the Gentemstick Barracuda, Moss Jellyfish, and Korua Pin Tonic or try other longer Gentemstick and Moss rides if I was riding really low-angle pow. The Dart and Storm Chaser would stay at home. What is your boot size, height, weight? Also what do you have in your quiver now? Two very different rides@ANETOKILLE. The only thing they have in common is the swallowtail design.
      The Storm Chaser rides a little shorter/wider, has a lot less taper (1.1cm less), rides a little less setback. and carves more on the back foot. The Spoon nose has a smoother turn in pow.
      The Dart rides a little longer. I would ride the 156 Dart and the 152 Storm Chaser as daily drivers for groomers and pow. I'd only size up if it was more for pow and clean groomers only. It has more camber, and drives really hard off the front foot on groomers. It's got a much more tapered/Nose heavy feel in comparison and it doesn't ride well unless you ride that very posi.

      @@thegoodridesnowI agree with you James 💯. I spent 2 weeks in Japan last year and longer boards were waaaaay better than the short fat ones. Also just because a board is long doesn’t mean it isn’t turny, ie. Pin Tonic.
      Dart is not really turny but it slays in steep and deep.

    I recommend to test the Burton Fish Mine77 in 156. It has the same shape like the 2006 Fish, with a decent camber. I love it with my 9 boots on grommers and in pow. Give it a try or test it. I think you will love it!

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  3 місяці тому +1

      Agreed. I rode the old Fish with camber and that was really fun. Burton just didn't have it for demo. It's hard to come by the late release/Mine77 products though.

    Long time coming. Thanks for the review! Did Davey boy get on it? Love to get his thoughts.
    I have the 159 already at home, so very interested to hear thoughts from big guys!

      Thanks! No he didn't. They only had a 152 and we weren't sure about the 157 since he's 40+ pounds over the recommended weight.

    If you put that camber profile on the mind expander doesn't that give you the powgoda?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  3 місяці тому

      Good question. More similar for sure but each would still have their own personalities with different flexes and sidecuts.

    That was the camber profile i was hoping they were going to add to the mind expander.

    Storm chaser 152 or Korua Dart 156?
    And when the new mind expander review?
    Thanks for your great work!!!❤

      Thanks! I don't even know your specs or anything about you so hard to tell. If you want to get into it more and do this right, hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/. If you want a short summary here, both are fun rides. The Dart is a lot bigger surface area wise and has a much more tapered/directional feel that needs a posi stance and more of a front foot weighted carve. The Storm Chaser is more stance width agnostic but likes back foot weight on a hard carve more. Mind Expander didn't change (only graphics) so the old review still stands.

    Im looking at this board as I want a Powder board for big powder days only. Im 6' 230lbs and am considering this board as well as the Soul Blower. Which of those do you recommend for a powder only board?

      Depends on what make/model/size/year board you ride now and how you like it. Hit me back with that and I'll suggest a size.

    ok, but why did you compare the red tiedye board to the current profile? the most recent profile was the white/black.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Місяць тому +3

      The tiedye camber profile/shape is exactly the same as the white/black one, and if you can't be nice here, I'll delete your comments from now on.
