World BLIND J-TURN Record with the JUKE

- The record-breaking Nissan Juke has done it again. This time the popular compact crossover has established the world’s first ‘blind’ J-turn record with the driver using only the car’s Intelligent Around View Monitor (AVM) on-board camera technology for guidance.
Stuntman Paul Swift spun the car 180 degrees with all the windows blacked out, using only the Juke’s four exterior cameras to position himself.
Amazingly, he equalled the existing ‘sighted’ record - turning the crossover from driving backwards to driving forwards in a space just 18cm longer than its bumper-to-bumper distance.
Nissan’s Intelligent AVM system provides the driver with a 360-degree birds’ eye view of the car and its surroundings. The four camera images are digitally stitched together and displayed on the NissanConnect dashboard screen, making parking simpler and safer.
Commenting on the world-first stunt, Paul Swift said: “I don’t recommend drivers try to park using AVM and a J-turn like I did, but I can really see how using the AVM technology in everyday driving situations would be a real benefit to Nissan customers."
Nissan Intelligent AVM also includes Moving Object Detection, which alerts the driver if something - for example, an animal or pedestrian - is close to the vehicle. This gives the driver enhanced awareness of their surroundings and improved peace of mind.
Intelligent AVM is part of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision for a safer and more sustainable driving future. It’s also one of the key building blocks of Nissan’s move towards ProPilot, the brand’s autonomous driving technology. The first Nissan car in Europe to feature ProPilot will be revealed in the next financial year (2017).

Or very savvy. The amount of gadgets and gizmos you get for £20k if you buy a top end one is triple what you would get in any of the overrated cars of a similar value. Mine is comfortable, heated seats, plenty of gizmos, turbo engine...never had a problem with it.

From U.S. I have a 2015 sv, awd fwd, and awd vectoring with 1.6 liter turbo(qas/petrol) Bordeaux black (rare color?) 56,000 miles. Most fun car to drive I've ever had! But wait. Added a stillen catback, stillen performance rear antisway bar, tanabe front tower strut brace, injen short ram intake, injen throttle controller (black edition) and power stop z23 drilled and slotted disc brakes and ceramic brake pads. Turned a little beast into a little monster for around 1900 usd. This is the first car I've bought for ME in many years. Friggin total blast to drive now, too bad we can't buy these in the U.S anymore. Sorry for the rant, just wanted to share love of this car with like minded people .

SamTheCar I owned an Aztek and didn't think I would ever in my life. That car is so practical but the build quality lacked. It rode surprisingly like a luxury car down the highway, not many people believe me though. I got 24 average MPG. I thought it was impressive for something that sat up high and is heavy.
SamTheCar also, owning an Aztek you get a load of looks. Lol. I guess because it's unique in a way.

Bootleg turn and J turn are evasive maneuvers, which means you are trying to escape from a bad situation. Most of the demonstrations on the internet are done on wet asphalt. I guess I need to keep a garden hose in the trunk of my car for when I need to escape.

The juke is a quirky car. It’s different to the usual boring designs that we see on the road. Nissan have been different and made a compact family car that in my eyes looks different but it’s cool looking. I can see why some may not like it. But it’s not a bad car considering it’s too 3 best selling car in United Kingdom. And top 5 best selling in Europe.
