1925 college football national champion was Alabama’s 1st beating Washington 20-19 in the RoseBowl… declared by national press “The game that changed the South”
I've just watched this movie and I loved the nostalgic and history of American Football aspect of it. I don't think my soccer( which I'm not a fan of over here in Northern Ireland)friends would understand the "cheating" aspect of this clip.
I think that was the flavor of the very early games, starting in 1876, according to Wikipedia. Wikipedia says (in the article on “Touchdown”) that a touchdown was worth one-fourth of a “kicked goal.” (They didn’t award “points” in those early days.) The rules for “kicked goals” were complicated, basically nothing like today. The foregoing is based on Wikipedia. I think making a kicked goal was probably difficult. After other rules that changed the value of a touchdown, the six-point touchdown finally arrived in 1912. Anyway, that’s the general picture for American football. I’m guessing that there were exceptions.

A similar story as Carter's at first glance, for sure!

Wasn't a touchdown only worth 1 point in those days? To give you an easy 3 point field goal attempt?
