This makes me excited, to see competitors are a better price range for those of us that can’t justify the cost of the Dyson. Still, I wish I could just buy one with only the hair dryer and curling attachments 😂 I could do without everything else, and would rather pay less for attachments I’ll use and not sit on others i won’t!
@@xcrnner1218 Not really? I use a normal dryer and hairbrush already, it’s not any different. Would still love the option to just have a single attachment choice 🤷🏻♀️ I just want the curling option 😆
@@tluz7059 If you live in the US. The rest of us have to buy the whole package. That means paying for a completely new version with a whopping 150$ more than the old one.
I love that they included a diffuser as an option! They have way more options for those of us with naturally curly hair. I’ve got the option of diffusing with it if I wanna wear my hair natural. I’ve also got the round brush which works great for blow drying straight.
I bought it and love it! I bought the Dyson airwrap and returned it because I felt like it didn’t get hot enough and took too long in the standard blow dry setting for the price. I’m only my second Dyson dryer as i think that it the best regular dryer on the market. This one from shark gets much hotter and because of the handle swivel and the concentrating nozzle, it dries my shoulder length hair completely in minutes. I have naturally wavy/curly hair and loved that I could also get a diffusing attachment, so it truly is a one stop shop for me where the Dyson wasn’t a great dryer, didn’t get hot enough to set my curls and didn’t have a diffusing attachment. I like the paddle type brush better than the Dyson one also, smooths much better. The oval one is pretty huge and I would like a smaller round brush one like the airwrap has, but other than that, it’s perfect.
The Dyson gets plenty hot... I think I'd have serious problem with the placement of the control buttons ...I've returned other tools specifically for that reason...the price point is very good but not enough for me bc of the buttons .
I really wish they had more blow dryers with the cool button that you do not have to hold down. My blow dryer is just the average blow dryier but the reason I keep it is because it has a cool setting. I never use heat on my hair. Its too fine and easily damaged.

Honestly it’s nice and fluffy in the best possible way! So soft and full with lots of dimension and texture. The night check up was so nice as well. Yes, the curls went down but your hair looked so full still. But can’t wait for the comparison side by side.
I love the competition and hopefully cheaper options. I just bought a Ryobi stick vac that is in direct competition to the Dyson 15. But less than half the price. I love that competitive companies have to tighten up.
Great review! Question; do you think you don’t like the controls where they’re at just because you’re used to the Dyson, almost like a muscle memory thing? Or do you think it’s just from where you comfortably put your hand? Asking as a person who’s never used either product so I wouldn’t have anything to compare one to!
Your hair turned out beautiful!!! It still looked great when you were in your Pjs!!! Unfortunately my hair is short so I have hair envy!!! Maybe if enough people complain about where the buttons are on the dryer, they might come out with a new and improved model with where you like the buttons!!! The best review yet of the shark. Most just say its amazing but this gives an honest review. You've confirmed my suspicion that the shark round brush is like the revlon one. That pulled my hair too and snapped hair off. The dyson brush is lovely and smooth.
Yeah I ditched my Revlon after I was sick of so much hair loss. My Dyson brush head barely has any hairs caught in it after I use it. I love it and so does my hair!

For the blow dry feature with the dyson you don’t have to hold straight as you mentioned. The hair flows from the side. Also when using the dyson you don’t hold it over your head like that either. I just wanted to clarify for anyone who doesn’t have a dyson. :) thanks for your video. Super informative! I’ll stick to the OG though! 😆 boar bristles damaged my wet hair and dyson has made my hair so much more healthier. I wasn’t a fan at first but after the learning curve and seeing the improvements have made me a believer!
I was hoping you’d review this. I just got mine a few days ago. Never had the Dyson cuz I couldn’t justify the cost. So this is new territory for me. Like you I don’t like where the button are, or how high-pitched loud it is. I also don’t like the “power bank/converter” on it since my outlet is up higher on the wall and it’s upside down, so it really pulls and weighs on the cord connection. I LOVE how lightweight it is (coming from a Conair user) and how powerful it is considering I use a diffuser and can still get great airflow. I also love that it truly has “medium heat / medium speed” which regular hair dryers don’t have. Can’t wait for the head to head comparison video!
I bought the exact same combo but I had a coupon so it was $238.49 with tax and free shipping. I also used Capital One shopping (I do not have their credit card) so I got an additional $33.74 shopping reward (it was 15% based on pre-tax amount). Shark shipped me the wrong combo. I didn’t receive my paddle brush but I had the oval brush, concentrator, barrels, and diffuser. I had a really hard time with Support understanding that I received the wrong stuff. I figured that I’d have to send it back. Support kept telling me that I’d have to pay for the paddle brush if I wanted it but my email showed that it was in my order. I got to keep all the pieces. It took an hour on the phone to get to that point. So far so good with it. I’m pleased with the price and the product. I wanted a Dyson but couldn’t justify the price.
You’re not missing out I got the dyson, I did not like it. Returned it. The curls would fall out before I got through with my hair. But my hair is super damaged with bleach. Soooo idk.
Excellent demo! did you use hairspray after you were done styling? if you mentioned it, i missed it. I think hairspray helps a lot after styling to give your curls some longevity. I use a light movable hairspray by Pantine & it is fantastic! No flaking and my hair keeps a curl for the whole week until I wash it again. Now I will say I’ve only ever used a flat iron so maybe that’s why. I just ordered this shark flex style and I’m excited for it to arrive so I can give it a try.
I can help! I bought a shark and then won a dyson a week later!! 😂 Both were similar. I actually like the shark diffuser better (it accounts for longer or shorter hair) and the dryer automatically adjusts temperature for styling curly hair. Honestly, if I hadn’t won the dyson I would have been fine with the shark. I bought it in bed bath and beyond for $180 with rewards. Can’t tell much of a difference but shark is louder than the dyson and a wee bit heavier.
I actually like that it has the big round brush. I think that works great for us curly and coily girls. If I’m honest Dyson isn’t that inclusive with their tools their market is straight to wavy hair which is usually white, Asian and some Indian and Latino. The rest of us who has thicker, coarser textured hair wasn’t worth spending the amount of money on the air wrap for such little results. Those people I think were more drawn to the Revlon or similar stylers like it because that worked well for our hair and many people with straighter- wavy hair also use those products so I think shark thought it would work well for the majority of people. I’m glad shark is going after that market that dyson left behind and including us when they developed this product and in the future they will probably include more attachments like dyson but even with dyson new attachments they still ignored many other hair types.
Girl, yes!!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I regret buying a Dyson!!! The REVLON does a far better job for much cheaper!!!! I am so glad SHARK was smart enough to release this product that includes more hair textures AND at a much better price!!! Like you said, Dyson’s price tag is just not justifiable!!
@@GriBlanco Girl, I have curly hair and apart of me knew the dyson wasn’t going to work for me but I fell into the hype and tried it anyways and it was a disaster, the power worked great but my hair bent the bristles on the round brush and it was to small so it took forever to finish my hair with the round brush. I tried the t3 and it wasn’t powerful enough like the dyson but the round brush was bigger and finally I tried the Revlon and that had both the power and the big brush and I returned the dyson. I had hoped with the revamp of the dyson air wrap they would have introduced a larger round brush as a option. I’m glad the shark came out with the flex style can’t wait to get it!
I’m waiting for mine! I got the wrap, the oval brush, and the diffuser (I have 2B/2C hair). If you sign up on their site, you get 10% off, so it was $250-$25, plus tax, and shipping was free. (I also used Rakuten to get another $4.50 back.) Anyway, I can’t wait for it to arrive!
How much hair can the Shark barrels grab? My issue with the Dyson is that the suction is not very good, I have to do very small sections which increases my drying time. I wish Shark (or Dyson) came up with barrels that could do bigger sections.
Always love your videos and reviews. I have just purchased a Flexstyle. Just cut my long hair short and I think this is going to really help me style it. I really struggle blow drying it. Got my fingers crossed this will be a good buy!
I have a Dyson supersonic, Revlon Volumizer 2.0 and T3 Airebrush. On top of the Dyson Airwrap, this device practically combines all of those together. I’m excited!
You make it look so easy! My sister styled mine for me first time around and now that I’ve seen what this can do for me I’m never going back to my Roseanne Rosannadanna hair again! It might take a few tries to learn it though.
I love the way Dyson sounds. It's almost muffled compared to shark. Also the cool shot is a must. It's curlier because of the harsh heat. But remember this products main purpose is to kind of also protect your hair from harsh heat. Also the buttons on the shark are not well designed compared to Dyson. The packaging experience is also a huge difference. Great review!
This. Heat styles nicely but also destroys tf out of your hair, especially if you overdo it. The Airwrap, on the other hand, is really gentle compared to the rest. My hair always feels smooth after using it
Just like the vacuums, Dyson is great with a higher price point but for a smidge less power you get a great price point. I love Shark, going to have to look into this one
The concerning design flaw I see is that the air filter doesn't wrap all the way around the bottom... which could mean lessened airflow and possible easy overheating. Also, having the buttons at the bottom could encourage people to place their hand completely over the filter when holding it for use. But the turning of the nozzle to create the blowdryer rather than extra attachment is super smart.
This is really exciting. The dyson is just so expensive, and you have to get all the accessories even if you won’t use them. This looks amazing for less than half the price!
I have the first generation dyson. I am really disappointed with their customer et service I spent about 800 Canadian !! Honestly happy this has come out
Wish this had existed a few years ago! I have the first generation Dyson airwrap because I can use the barrels to alter my natural tight curl pattern into a looser curl. Looks like I would have been happy with this for half the price! 🤦🏽♀️😬😆
If it's anything like my Dyson blowdryer you can click on the heat button until you see no red dots and it blows only cold air and you don't have to hold the cold shot button. Unless you're doing what you did with the curler part.
@beautifullove602 You should be using it on brushed, sectioned, and damp hair, WITH product!! And if you pin your curls as you go, they will hold their shape for much longer! Oh and use hairspray after ❤
This is solid competition for the Dyson. I just recently got my first Airwrap, totally free. I saved my Ulta rewards points for 3 years and didn't have to pay anything for it👍But I would not have spent $600+ cash on it. So this a very good option for someone wanting the Dyson but not the price. I agree with you on the brush attachment pulling longer hair. I have a brush dryer with the same style brush and I don't use it for that reason. It grabs my hair to tightly and pulls it out. Other than that, I'd say this is a great buy!
So I just got the Shark and I’m rewatching this to help me! I’m just playing with it on dry hair and maybe the dryness is why it’s not wrapping?? I’ll try re-wetting it
Your video is very educational, this is what I need with the bendable wand that would help with my chronic shoulder pain ,lol. I'm buying this, I've been holding off the Dyson for years...
I can't have my arms up for long for the same reason, it's why I got the normal dyson hair dryer a couple of years ago as it cut my drying time in half. I have the dyson airwrap coming tomorrow so I'll report back how it goes with fatigue!
I finally took the leap and bought the shark flex. I couldn’t justify buying the Dyson. I loved the price, it was fairly easy to use for someone who is pretty lazy to do my hair. I love the swivel. It is loud but ear plugs helped. I’m happy with it and with the price!
so it sounds like you really like it. I agree with you on the Dyson being just over-the-top expensive and unnecessary. I just ordered my shark flex style on HSN for $279 and did the payment plan so it doesn’t feel as painful to the pockets lol. I can’t wait to get it and give it a try. I hope I love it. I thought about the new flex fusion but that’s like 400 bucks and over-the-top expensive imo.
After owning a Dyson vacuum…I hated that thing and now have a Shark Navigator, which is 1000x better at 5 years old than that Dyson was brand spanking new. Can’t wait to see the reviews and more videos. I expect this to be 1/2 the price and much better.
I think Dyson vacuums are WAY overrated and overpriced. I love my Shark vacuum and would get this . I could never bring myself to pay $600 for a hairdryer/styler.
Thank you for this video! I just got this and the instructions for the curler isn’t the best (but I’ve never curled my hair either so it’s probs just me!)
From all the reviews I’ve watched it seems to me that the Shark barrels grab the hair and hold it better than the Dyson. Will be curious to see what you think when you do a side by side.
I have questions.. I’m not really a hair styling lady but I desperately want to be. My problem mainly is I don’t like the idea of heat damaging my hair. Does this help mitigate that? Is there a risk of burning myself like with a curler? Can I straighten my hair with a separate attachment? I have curly hair but when I style it, I don’t want it to just be the same frizzy uneven mess. Is a tool like this ok for curly hair too? I don’t know that I’ll EVER justify that price, but want to think on it… As a separate note, is it possible to have “beautiful” hair without it being colored? I feel like I want my hair to look pretty like yours but I am just not willing to spend the money and time maintaining a color.
I bought the shark but returning it asap. It doesn't grab the ends of my (fine, thin-ish) hair very well - most of the hair flies around and results in frizziness. I've watched a dozen tutorials and can't get it to avoid these flyaways. It's also loud in a really high pitched way and hurts my brain!
I just got this today! Im so excited to try it. Im in Canada and the dyson's price point is just a little too rich for me so I took a shot and got this one. Your video is impeccable timing!
Your hair is very pretty...looks like it does a good job. However, my problem is the curl holding for the day. The complaints with the Dyson are although it gives pretty waves/curls, they do not last past a couple of hours. I'm wondering if this Shark is the same???
Great results! Have you thought of reviewing that light up face massager that’s all over TikTok? It’s supposed to “snatch your face” but I’m waiting till I see a review that’s not an add before I buy it.
This seems so much more time consuming than just drying my hair and using a curling wand. I don't hold the curling wand there for near that long. Could never spend this much time on my hair
TBH I have a dyson and I'm never this exact when curling my hair. I just chaotically let the wand catch pieces of my hair and curl them until everything is dry and curled. For naturally looking curls it works better, imo, and it takes a lot less time.
This might sound stupid but do you use the barrel that has L on for the left hand side of head and then the R for right hand side, or does it depend on which way you are holding the wand? Or do you use the opposite:/ I’ve allways found this confusing
Oooh, I've just looked online and they have it in black and rose gold 😍 and it's only £299.99 for the dryer and 5 attachments and case with free delivery.... Dyson who?.... Add to basket!!!!!
I have the Dyson but I've always thought they were missing a trick by not having a diffuser option. It's much easier to have one tool that can cover everything, particularly for travel. I also have some mobility issues, and think I'd find the bendy design from Shark easier to use. Looking forward to see the direct conparison. Take care.
I don’t have either the dyson or the shark but I have borrowed the dyson from a friend and really enjoyed it! The thing I loved about it was how quiet it was… My main concern though is that the dyson was quite long and I struggled to use it but the shark looks even longer especially because you have to add the attachments on top of the dryer where as the dyson you remove the dryer to add the other bits… I’m not sure which to purchase!!
@@princessofcentralasia1244 oh amazing, that’s so good to know!! My other concern was the weight too, the dyson was really light so actually enjoyed drying my hair more. My current hair dryer is very heavy 😂

😂
My take is that for the time involved- rollers would do a better job for volume, curl and hold. Like an Instyler- works well but takes time.
I have curly, curly hair so the shark oval attachment for someone with my hair type is excellent. I own it and love it
My favorite type of video you do is testing and comparing hair tools. Thanks!
It's meant to curl by DRYING your hair. It's amazing that you can still get a result with fully dry hair, however, it's meant to be used on damp hair.
Thank you, I just got one from my husband for Christmas 🎄 and I’m trying to learn 😂 how to use it
@beautifullove602
You should be using it on brushed, sectioned, and damp hair, WITH product!! And if you pin your curls as you go, they will hold their shape for much longer! Oh and use hairspray after ❤
I kind of want the shark one more than my Dyson. The bending seems so much easier.
I would love to see a more affordable but still high quality competitor to the dyson. This makes me happy :)
They did it with the vacuums, now with this, and I'm SO HERE FOR IT
So I just got the Shark and I’m rewatching this to help me!
Would you recommend this for someone who gets fatigued while styling? Autoimmune diseases leave me exhausted but I want to look pretty.
I can't have my arms up for long for the same reason, it's why I got the normal dyson hair dryer a couple of years ago as it cut my drying time in half. I have the dyson airwrap coming tomorrow so I'll report back how it goes with fatigue!
@@Mamado88 thanks 😊
Did you purchase this with your own money? Or were you given the product for a review and/ or paid to review?
Is this good for someone who is horribly bad at hair and sectioning? My hair doesn’t like to hold a curl :/
Can’t wait for the comparison video! You’re one of the only influencers that I trust. 😊❤
Hi. Thanks for the review. Another good one😉
Ordered mine and got the 10% off from shark and then cash back from Ibotta. They were offering 6% back so it was a great deal!!
How does the noise level compare to Dysons styler?
Great video! Could you share where you got your jumpsuit? 🙏
Can this styler be used in countries with 220v? And does shark ship to Australia? Thanks!
Can you do an updated video of cordless straighteners at different price points please!!
Brandi which model of the skank navigator do you have and love ?
What about the heat dammage? That's Dysons main point and you didnt even mention it :s
Can you share what kind of hair you have... fine, coarse, dry, oily, etc.? Thanks!
You have gorgeous hair unstyled! I never realized how thick it was!
I tried the IGK and reverie products you recommended and they are an amazing combination. Thank you!
Thanks for the detailed review. Also, I’m loving this longer hair length on you!!
Which nozzles do you use when you use it upside down? Do you flip the left and right?
If you finished each curl with a burst of cool air the curl would maintain it's shape
I felt the oval brush pulled my hair too much so I purchased the round brush. For me, the round brush styled my hair a lot better.
I've got both, and yes I find the Shark barrels hold the hair better than the Dyson.
@@Catherine-Crevice which heat setting feels closest to the dyson? I don't wanna use the hottest.
Thanks so much for this!! This will be my Christmas present for this year😃☺️
I have questions..
I don’t know that I’ll EVER justify that price, but want to think on it…
As a separate note, is it possible to have “beautiful” hair without it being colored? I feel like I want my hair to look pretty like yours but I am just not willing to spend the money and time maintaining a color.
Your hair looks amazing...when you say you dont use your revlon one step, how do you dry your hair now at your length?
How did you get your hair thicker? What products worked for you?
I bought the shark but returning it asap. It doesn't grab the ends of my (fine, thin-ish) hair very well - most of the hair flies around and results in frizziness. I've watched a dozen tutorials and can't get it to avoid these flyaways. It's also loud in a really high pitched way and hurts my brain!
I just got this today! Im so excited to try it. Im in Canada and the dyson's price point is just a little too rich for me so I took a shot and got this one. Your video is impeccable timing!
Where did you get it! Im in Canada and it’s been sold out every time I look on their website!!
How much is it here in Canada?

Great review! Please tell me where u got ur watch band! Love it!
I think those attachments are good for people with actually curly hair.
Your hair is very pretty...looks like it does a good job. However, my problem is the curl holding for the day. The complaints with the Dyson are although it gives pretty waves/curls, they do not last past a couple of hours. I'm wondering if this Shark is the same???
did you watch til the end? by night time, her curls were gone and her hair was like half waved.
Great results! Have you thought of reviewing that light up face massager that’s all over TikTok? It’s supposed to “snatch your face” but I’m waiting till I see a review that’s not an add before I buy it.
Can’t wait to see the direct comparison with dyson!!
The Shark blow dryer is amazing and I am sure this is a great dupe but something about this justifies me paying more for the Dyson Airwrap
Yeah I just felt like alot of the curl was gone by the fine she was done talking.
Do you think it’d work as well without the hair serums?
Your hair looks awesome! Do you know if it comes with 220W plug as well?
I love the curls!!! Omg it came out so good 😍
This seems so much more time consuming than just drying my hair and using a curling wand.
I love yours videos.God bless you and your family out there 🥰🥰🥰thank you for sharing your information with us 🥰🥰🥰
Does the barrel get hot enough to burn your fingers when you wrap your hair around it?
This is awesome, great video, I've been wanting to see this! Thanks!
Thanks for the review, I was waiting when you try it😊
This might sound stupid but do you use the barrel that has L on for the left hand side of head and then the R for right hand side, or does it depend on which way you are holding the wand? Or do you use the opposite:/ I’ve allways found this confusing
i use L for the left side and R for the right side
Thanks for sharing I wish I saw the dysentery video n by the way 1st time I saw your hair long it’s so pretty love it
I just purchased this and I’m having hard times work on it
Anyone knows why the wand doesn’t spin or doesn’t grab my hair at all ????
The curler is not as good as it seems, the curlers do fall, but the straightener brush is awesome.
Shark sells a blow dryer brush just the brush for $100 so if you don’t like all the other attachments you’re better off with the cheaper styling brush
Do you use the same side barrel if you hold it upside like you do? Thank you!
Thanks, always, for your great videos!
looks amazing on you!! i'm so excited for this
Oooh, I've just looked online and they have it in black and rose gold 😍 and it's only £299.99 for the dryer and 5 attachments and case with free delivery....
Take care.
i just purchased my shark. i got the 3 attachment bundle. it takes a month to ship sadly but i cannot wait ❤
where did you see it takes a month to ship?
I don’t have either the dyson or the shark but I have borrowed the dyson from a friend and really enjoyed it! The thing I loved about it was how quiet it was… My main concern though is that the dyson was quite long and I struggled to use it but the shark looks even longer especially because you have to add the attachments on top of the dryer where as the dyson you remove the dryer to add the other bits… I’m not sure which to purchase!!
I used both. Shark was to heavy for me so it was returned. Dyson is better In my opinion. ;)
@@princessofcentralasia1244 oh amazing, that’s so good to know!! My other concern was the weight too, the dyson was really light so actually enjoyed drying my hair more. My current hair dryer is very heavy 😂
