I have both. The Shark has more power and the curling barrels on the Shark definitely work better. Curls are way more long lasting. But the oval brush on the Shark is a bit rough on my fine thinning hair. The boar's bristles pull out hair. No one is mentioning that the Dyson has the coanda effect on the smoothing brush as well. Shark only uses the coanda effect on its barrels. The Dyson smoothing brush is magical. So sadly, I keep both plugged in and ready to use and hope one of these companies comes up with a complete solution.
@@ChantalAngeles_ Oh but it is! I was determined to return one. It's super cumbersome to keep both and not at all practical. My hairdresser said she loved the Dyson dryer but returned it because she had to clean the filter multiple times a day and it took up way too much time. Obviously she was using it more than a private individual would have to but do you find that you have the same problem as a stylist using the Dyson dryer?

@@diamondsgal76 I have curly hair, too! Can you tell me what differences you see with an expensive hair dryer? I have one that cost me about $250 but I’m interested in your experience and what brand(s) you like.
@@jacquelinegatewood5120 Hi Jacqueline, it’s not any expensive hairdryer, but specifically the Dyson Supersonic that made a huge difference. I used the T3, Babyliss, GHD, Devacurl driers before. None of them were as good as the Dyson, which dries much faster, is the quietest machine I’ve ever used, uses the heat and air in such a way that the curls shape up and hold perfectly. I also noticed that my hair feels healthier and grows faster.
I find it weird that the options in the us are different from the uk. Here we can only buy the shark as one set bundle and it comes with a case, the filter is also not removable on the base of the handle. The Dyson set up seems to be similar both sides of the pond though
Yes! I'm so excited. Honestly for me the $600 price was always to absurd in entertaining the thought of ever ACTUALLY getting i mean over DOUBLE my car payment for a hair dryer!? Nah but the 250 price is much more comparable I feel for this kind of dryer. Obviously dyson was the only one on the market to have this kind of technology so they could charge whatever they want with no competition. But now they have REAL competition. And just like dyson did they will make improvements and uprage it as needed after listening to customer feedback. And honestly I like shark products over dyson. I bought a dyson vaccume for like 400ish crapped out after 1.5 years with mostly hard floor use my shark is a BEAST AT 230 more suction more durable, longer laster better on carpet and on upholstery. And is going on 2 years like it's brand new.
I bet shark will release more attachments. It took dyson a little while to do that after their first release, but since shark is obviously trying to dupe, I bet they are already in the works. I definitely will be picking up the shark because even if it has a few flaws, for less than half the price it is a no brainer. Also on other things like vacuums I prefer shark to dyson so I trust the company
The curls are so beautiful! My birthday is in December so I told my husband if you get me ANYTHING please let it be the Shark! Lol. So hopefully it's under my tree or at my birthday dinner lol
I’m going to hold off and get the Shark 2.0 It seems like a running theme after the initial launch brand’s release a slightly updated version. Hopefully they will listen to feedback and move the buttons
Thank you for this comparison! I’m definitely going to go with the shark. I mean I couldn’t afford the dyson anyway, but as a single mother the cost of the shark is much more manageable and the results and ease of the handle make it a winner for me.
Awesome review!! Needed this to make sure I bought the right one for my wife and the shark sounded much better especially for the heat settings. She does have thicker hair and you mentioning that extra heat is better for that, IM SOLD! Again, Awesome review!! Happy holidays! ❤️
I like the way you compare these 2 products including the noise, airflow, hair care and results. Also I enjoy the questions coming along while in the process of hairdrying. Thank you guys ❤
Shark does have a beautiful carry case that zippers closed and has a nice handle plus the Sharks carry case has better storage compartments then the Dyson. I think that Shark will update their hand held dryer as far as the button placements go. Both are very good products, but not everyone can afford a $500 in some cases $600 dryer. So I think the Shark is perfect for someone on a tighter budget. Thank you for the review.
One of the main selling points of the Dyson is that the temperature is regulated so that it doesn't cause damage to your hair. I appreciate that Shark may dry faster because it's hotter, but I really would prefer to take a couple of minutes more with the Dyson and protect my hair.
Having difficulty choosing which to purchase. My hair does not allow curl to stay...Although,I have thin hair i do have a good amount of hair. I wish to not damage my hair with so many products. It seems you are gentle with your hair as well
I enjoyed your review esp on the technical side measuring loudness and length, and heat flow, etc. I look forward to seeing the Revlon comparisons . I wonder if they plan to do a holiday gift set and include a case with that and maybe extra attachment or the additional attachments may come later but I could definitely see a case coming for the holidays
@@Carlyw9t2 it’s called the Revlon one step initially when you buy it you only get the big round brush attachement but I’ve heard that hot tools and Revlon are own by the same company and the hot tools round brush is detachable and has different size brushes that you can also use with the Revlon. I’ve tried it and bought a bigger brush head from hot tool and it does work. Also Revlon just came out with a blow out curling iron that I think can also be used with the round brush blow dryer but it’s all sold separately.
@@allisonhernandez3829 yeah I don’t get why the UK one came in a different color and they got a case. Idk maybe they are testing it in the UK and will drop the new color and case here for a holiday special and drop the silver one in the UK for the holidays ???

I think you are always partial to Dyson. I have the Shark and love it and it's half the price of the Dyson. I had a Dyson that never worked right. I think the Shark is better!

Thank you for this video, especially for documenting how your hair looked like at the end of the day! I really want to like the Shark, but IMO it does feels like the Dyson (this model in particular) performs better in terms of heat, overall usability, and results, which are all key points when you plan on using it long-term. Plus the colors and cases are soooo pretty 😩 I think the price difference is justified when you take all of these into account - but the Shark is definitely a very close second!

I was thinking of changing my curler but after I watch your video, I think I am going to stick with mine....it's babylist. The curls can last days on my straight and coarse hair type, and it cost me much less than these two 😊 Thanks for the review.
The Uk launch it comes with a really nice case that is better than the Dyson case imo because it has a handle and zips open in the middle to give two sides.
This is the first video I've ever watched of yours and I just wanted to reach out and thank you for the time and effort put in. It's really helped me in my Shark or Dyson conundrum. I'm thinking Dyson!
I'm glad they've made something affordable, but I love my Dyson, no regrets on the price. Like it's so good another company copied it right down to the barrels. People keep complaining re heat on Dyson, but it dies get pretty hot but generally I prefer that the Dyson doesn't overheat/burn your hair and still delivers an excellent result like thats the whole point. Heat isn't a reflection of air flow, Dyson airflow is amazing. It always gives this amazing Salon look. From the experiment the Dyson curls held up longer. Bottom line, buy what suits you no one should go bankrupt over hair. But the Dyson will always be my choice.
LOVE watching your comparison videos. THE FOLLOWING IS MY OPINION: A person can go to any outlet store and buy a box or container to put an appliance and its attachments in that goes with their decor and NOT pay extra dollars for something they probably won’t even like. Everybody’s hair is different, there is to many reasonable priced appliances on the market and styling accessories for hair type to use to condition the hair, HEAT IS HEAT, COUNTING 1 to 10 seconds is easy. Most heating instruments let’s the user choose the heating degrees to be used. Charging or paying $700.00 for an appliance for hair is R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S. One person thinks a product is perfect, another person thinks that same product is not worth their time.
I wanna say that these tools aren’t designed the way people think. As a biomed engineering students, product development for the beauty industry aren’t that serious. The dyson “technology” isn’t that ground breaking. It’s a temperature sensor programmed to regulated the air flow to stay in between 2 variables. As for the differences for the design like the control bottins being at the bottom, it’s probably because they are trying to not get sued. 8 differences in the physical product need to be visibly observed for shark to be safe. I can spot colour, button position, number of button, number of settings, size of the tools and the number of attachements.
I tried the dyson yestetday night, was standing for 50 mins trying all the tips, with mousse and spray and not touching the curles and cold shots and rapping it till the roots, went to sleep with tight curles and woke up this morning with straight hair, no curles or wavinesd what so ever...
People who already own the Dyson feel the need to justify their purchase by saying it works so much better. Differences like the button placement or the attachments are just that… differences. It’s also less than half the price and does an amazing job, I personally think it wraps better and easier around the barrels. Is Dyson better, or do you think you’re better bc you spent $600+ on a BLOWDRYER?
That's exactly what I was thinking. Did you see the struggle with the Dyson trying to get the hair wrapped? It definitely didn't have as much power as the shark and that difference alone proves the shark is better.
I had to think twice about spending $300 on the shark! That’s still a significant amount of money. But I was shocked at how well my almost waist length hair wrapped around the barrel. So easy. And as far as the wobbly attachment goes… I literally went and tested that and it doesn’t happen with mine. Just such minute details that people are picking apart
You lift more and put more shoulder strain with the dyson, I noticed. That, in the long run, you will start to feel. That's why you like the pivoting angle of the shark
Would you consider doing a comparison with the new Sally Beauty ion Luxe Autowrap Airstyler? It appears to have recently launched as well and comes in at a VERY affordable 150 dollars (no brush attachments). No brush attachments available. But I can't find any beauty bloggers who have done a video on it. Would be awesome if you were the first!
If you put the name Sally Beauty ion luxe in the search bar, there are a few you tubers on here who have done reviews. I Know of 2, Julissa Guillen and Kristina Aranilla. They both liked the product and the only negative was how hot the tool got....
@@hgchild5398 I actually just looked again and found one of them, I can't recall the name but she had a Southern accent that was adorable. She said the same thing about it being very hot despite the directions saying the heat didn't go above 275 I think? A little strange but she figured it out and made it work. It seems like a good option for people who really want the air wrap experience but find the Shark price still too high. I was intrigued that the barrels were only 1 inch on the Autowrap Airstyler, so much smaller than we're seeing from the high end brands.
I have wanted a Dyson forever but have never been able to justify the price. I bought the Sally’s one, and I’m not great at doing hair by any means. My hair is like bra-Line length, thick, but fine. I can use the Sally’s one pretty easily and my curls last dayyyyyys. It is heavy and my arm gets tired sometimes bc of the design, but it really does work and I can look past it not having all the other bells and whistles.
Being a licensed professional, I don't know. I think the average person could get some really good use out of either, but knowing how to use a blow dryer and a round brush, and the lasting power of an iron, its so hard to make that leap. I would be more willing to try the Shark over the Dyson, but gosh I don't know...maybe one day. It's so hard for us stylists to stray from our holy grail tools!
Dyson all the way. Looked better from beginning to end of day, less noise, and honestly I think it will last longer. I’m not into buy, buy, but so one thing that will last me years, or a decade or more is worth it to me. I have a Dyson vacuum that’s 10 years old, bet my air wrap will last too.
Soph tested out the Shark the other day and the one she had came in a case, so I’m not sure if you buy the more expensive option if it comes with it or not?

None of them were as good as the Dyson, which dries much faster, is the quietest machine I’ve ever used, uses the heat and air in such a way that the curls shape up and hold perfectly. I also noticed that my hair feels healthier and grows faster.
I find it weird that the options in the us are different from the uk. Here we can only buy the shark as one set bundle and it comes with a case, the filter is also not removable on the base of the handle. The Dyson set up seems to be similar both sides of the pond though
That’s weird isn’t it? We can’t even buy the Shark in Australia. We can purchase the American one at a significant extra cost.
Lame!!!
@@london_liv5539 looks like it might be coming to Australia as Shark Clean Australia now have a 'register your interest' for it.
The filter ‘casing ‘is removable for cleaning in the UK.
Great comparison! I am a Dyson fan but the Shark does look promising!
(And make a case) The case does make the Dyson look a bit more luxe. I’m a sucker for aesthetics
@@GreenBananazshark also has a case
Thank you for this comparison! I’m definitely going to go with the shark. I mean I couldn’t afford the dyson anyway, but as a single mother the cost of the shark is much more manageable and the results and ease of the handle make it a winner for me.
Thanks for taking the time to make the comparison.
Awesome review!! Needed this to make sure I bought the right one for my wife and the shark sounded much better especially for the heat settings. She does have thicker hair and you mentioning that extra heat is better for that, IM SOLD! Again, Awesome review!! Happy holidays! ❤️
You look WONDERFUL in longer hair! (I haven't seen you in a while). Thanks for the video...this saved me from getting a body wave.
I actually think the Shark side looks better!
I read that the shark regulates its temp as well - and more frequently than the dyson!
How often are you doing your hair that you have to worry so much about “heat damage”…
That’s why u have heat protectant. Any heat will damage your hair if not properly used
@@ln4130 ? u blow dry ur hair almost everyday of your life ofc heat is important
@@ln4130i used 4 times for week and my hair is healthy
Thank you so much for your time making this video. How often do you use the nourishment you used in this video?
Having difficulty choosing which to purchase. My hair does not allow curl to stay...Although,I have thin hair i do have a good amount of hair. I wish to not damage my hair with so many products. It seems you are gentle with your hair as well
I’ve just got the shark and mine has come with a beautiful case
I enjoyed your review esp on the technical side measuring loudness and length, and heat flow, etc. I look forward to seeing the Revlon comparisons . I wonder if they plan to do a holiday gift set and include a case with that and maybe extra attachment or the additional attachments may come later but I could definitely see a case coming for the holidays
What is the name of the REVLON version
It’s weird but they include a case in the UK when you purchase it. It’s actually a way more practical case than the one Dyson gives.
@@peony2353 yes it could be. One of my biggest gripes with Dyson and, now, Shark is the fact that these tools that are first so expensive, second made to make everything easier are not dual voltage. These are obviously perfect travel devices but if you go to Europe/Asia or vice versa, you can not use it.
This is the comparison we all wanted and needed. I think dyson is still the champ.
I saw another review and the suction to wrap the hair on the barrel was way stronger and stayed within the barrel and not the tip with the Shark.
I think you are always partial to Dyson. I have the Shark and love it and it's half the price of the Dyson. I had a Dyson that never worked right. I think the Shark is better!
I find her partial to most high end things .. not that it’s a bad thing , but ..
Could just be that she’s used the Dyson first & probably has more experience with it.
@@Crackhead_Betty if you watched her current favorites she is in love with $5 eyeliners and brow pencils. Not always high end. And you tend to get what you pay pay, usually, certainly not all the time.
Dyson is better hands down. Shark is a cheaper alternative but has its flaws.
@@Aphrodite01 I disagree! As I said, I had a Dyson that was a piece of crap. I paid $500 for a fancy box. Threw the Dyson in the garbage and now have my Shark in that box. The Dyson never worked right. The Sharp works great and only cost $249!
I ve got the shark last week, it came out with an amazing box to keep it in with all the attachment as well
Where is the continuous water spray from?
Hi I bought the Shark last week and it had a case with a sip on it, handy for all the attachments
I love your videos! Not only are they informative but very entertaining.
No I think there was bias going into the video
How does the mechanism to click the attachments in compare? I find my Dyson has little “teeth” that click in which wobble over time
I am so happy for you my dear with the great hair improvement, I followed you loooong time back when you were making how to style thin hair videos, glad your hair is not thin any more... any video on how you managed to get the thick hair 🥰🥰
Finally a cheaper alternative.
I always wanted to buy the dyson but the price tag 😬
Dyson refurbished $350
I was leaning towards the Shark because of the price but your curls look amazing with the Dyson.
OMGGGG I was waiting this comparison from youuuuuu!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
How long does it take to do your whole head? What is the cord length on both and were there any issues with twisting or binding?
Love this video. Especially since I’m frying to decide myself which one to get. The real question is: which one do you prefer? Not that that would sway me one way but I’m curious. (Honestly, I couldn’t afford the Dyson, nor would I want to pay that much for anything!) I think I’ll wait for the next Shark. Bet it’s gonna be amazing!
I’m so glad I found you again and I appreciate your compassion
I really want is to know which one is better in keeping the integrity of the hair? I need a hair to style my fine/frizzy hair
Can you do a comparison video of the Shark vs the Luxx Air Pro 2? I can't find one anywhere and would love to see the comparison! You're comparison videos are SO helpful!
I am loving my Shark, super fun getting to know the tools for my Asian hair. Price was no brainer, had to get it!
I’ve been waiting for this review! 🙌🏼
Where did you get that spray bottle?
I was thinking of changing my curler but after I watch your video, I think I am going to stick with mine....it's babylist. The curls can last days on my straight and coarse hair type, and it cost me much less than these two 😊 Thanks for the review.
The Uk launch it comes with a really nice case that is better than the Dyson case imo because it has a handle and zips open in the middle to give two sides.
This is the first video I've ever watched of yours and I just wanted to reach out and thank you for the time and effort put in. It's really helped me in my Shark or Dyson conundrum. I'm thinking Dyson!
Your videos are always so helpful! Thank you
Thanks for the comparison! How dry is your hair when you curl it? And do the barrels get really hot? I'm afraid of burning my fingers.
I think it's greedy of them to charge that much regardless
Last but not least the 90 degrees angle
was surprised how shark didn't get sued. thanks for explaining
I tried the dyson yestetday night, was standing for 50 mins trying all the tips, with mousse and spray and not touching the curles and cold shots and rapping it till the roots, went to sleep with tight curles and woke up this morning with straight hair, no curles or wavinesd what so ever...
its probs bc of the mousse. i saw someone else use mousse and they had the same issue & it fixed when she didnt use mousse. try hairspray instead!
THANK YOU. I’ve seen so many people talking about minor things and using that as justification. A DYSON IS $600 THAT IS INSANITY
Any tips for postpartum hair regrowth?
Wow! I'm watching 8 hours after you uploaded the video and it already has 21k views. Congrats!
Loved this information. You answered all the questions I couldn't ask❤
What products do you recommend to help the curls last longer with my Dyson they fall really fast
You lift more and put more shoulder strain with the dyson, I noticed. That, in the long run, you will start to feel. That's why you like the pivoting angle of the shark
Ooohh.. been waiting for this.. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻❤
do the curls stay with the airwrap
The shark side actually looks slightly shinier. After the blow dry it was less frizzy
Why didn't any of the curls last. Do u have to spray hairspray?
Did you try the smaller barrel for the shark yet?
I just bought it in the UK and it came with a case. Not as nice as the Dyson one but still very useful! Great review
I think it’s better as it has a zip.
Which one would be better if you have more than 3 feet of hair length?
Very useful information. I wish I could find a comparison better the flex style and the speed style . Nobody compare the Shark brand.
Shark came in a case for me. Bought it in the UK. Really nice and portable!
Yh I got a case with a shark. I had dyson (returned now) but shark case is so much more better and bigger
Where can we buy the attachments for Dyson I can’t see anywhere can you plz provide the link plz
Soph tested out the Shark the other day and the one she had came in a case, so I’m not sure if you buy the more expensive option if it comes with it or not?
I wondered that too. I seen Soph and knew hers had a case. Wonder if it's different in different countried 🤔
