    Round 1:
    1. create Boxes with console name with A to Z separation (bulky phase by first alphabet of games)
    2. place manuals into box per/alphabet
    Round 2:
    1. separate, re-order and calculate manuals per alphabet/game
    2. Pick best value manuals from box
    Round 3:
    1. Add manuals into missing boxes (easier do this afterwards then during separation phase)

You guys have too much stuff and it giving me anxiety! I command you to stop.
But seriously I need to understand how you guys are going to deal with all this. Do you plan on selling them off in lots? Will you be keeping them in order to add them to cartridges you have and will acquire in the future? This is overwhelming just to watch so I can't imagine having all these goods in hand. I know you guys are doing well but between the game barn and hobby shop I really think your inventory is getting too big and you should focus on clearing it out. Wild idea. No clue if it would work. Can you set up a camera to take an image quickly? OCR to text. There appears to be some databases available on line of manuals. Cross reference to identify (lots of tools available to match up random text to a title database). Don't sort the manuals just keep them in the order scanned and create bins of maybe 50 manuals with an identifier similar to way you would store unlike items for ebay sales. The upfront time of physical handling may not be quicker than any other method but the database then saves you time later, provides searching for needed titles, cross reference so that you can pick out most expensive to sell first, and even provide some inventory valuation for insurance purposes. Maybe stupid idea. Use barcodes for the boxes ( assuming they have bar codes).

I'd pair up as many Manuals with boxes, putting the best condition ones together. Id probably grade there condition, like A, B, C......etc. and then sell extras or lower grade boxes/manuals individually. So an A grade box sold with an A grade manual. And then anything not so good sell on its own. This would only apply to rarest, the most expensive and sort after games. The rest I'd probably try and match up to make them more appealing.

Boxes are emptied into a new container (with a tag on it) and all of the data is loaded into a spreadsheet. Then you have a comprehensive list of what you have and where it is all in one place. Easy to pair and inventory after that.

This reminds me of when I used to manage a Babbage's store back in the 90s. When people traded in games for SNES, Genesis, NES, we were told by corporate to "field destroy" the manuals and boxes, for all of those games. I of course didn't do that! Instead, I would keep them in the back room, and offer them to anybody who purchased a used game from our store. Surprisingly, not many people cared about taking the boxes or the annuals for their games. So after the manuals and boxes started taking up too much space in the store, I ended up taking them all home. I ended up with over a thousand manuals, and a couple hundred boxes. To be fair, I had run this by my DM, before doing any of this. He was fine with all of it. I still have many of these boxes and manuals even today.

    • @videogameobsession
      @videogameobsession 3 місяці тому

@@alienvampirebusterswhoyoug8257 It was dumb for stores, such as Babbage's, to destroy them, when they likely could have sold them for so much more money with the boxes and manuals. I heard two reasons for this, from my district manager, and from Babbage's' corporate office. First, I was told that it was due to some sale's associates mixing up trade-in with returned stock. The backroom could very quickly fill up with piles of both. We often had to stop taking trade-ins due to how full our room would get.
The other reason, which seems a bit more believable, was that Nintendo was very unhappy with us selling their used games, especially N64, and Game Boy, for 50% less, whilst having them include the same box and manuals. They likely wanted us to make them less desirable, and marketable, so that people may prefer new over used. I know they really didn't like it when we started putting stickers on their display boxes, which read, "Want to save money? Buy a used copy today!". The Nintendo rep always let me know how much she hated that. ... haha!

Rather than getting everything out of the box just grab a handful & concentrate on those & once you've exhausted that handful grab another otherwise you'll be handling the manuals over & over again & making work for yourself

Al Pal you should put the flattened boxes in filing cabinets or the filing boxes, you could do the same with manuals as well

Id hold on to at least 3 copies of everything you can match box and manual of more than 3 of the commons. You will complete then fast and make more. Then sell the rest. Just remember deals like these last few major ones are like once in a lifetime deals and next year your gonna wish you saved a bunch of the stuff because your finding all the loose copies.

If I were you guys, I’d be hunting for the games to complete some sets and make money off of it. The manual and box in good condition is the hardest part of finding a complete set ;)

Watching you all sitting on the floor cross legged and giggling like kids somehow doesn't scream work to me. You are having a ball and taking us along for the ride. Keep up the amazing work and best of luck with all your future endevours.

my ocd would be in overdrive trying to pair boxes to manuals, which is what i would first try to achieve. and when they couldnt be paired i'd put them in storage until they could be paired. but you do you, space is expensive and so is labour costs.
