Hi! I have ONE asclepias syriaca that I found in my back property about 3 weeks ago. It is now losing its blooms and I cannot find out anything about saving its' seeds or when the pods will form. Ive searched the area and can only find the one. No buds from rhizomes and also it is in a really shady area so I want to transplant to my sunny butterfuly garden but I'm scared to move it. Should I just leave it there , when do the pods form? I marked it with a pipe cleaner , thinking that when it goes dormant I could find and move it to a better location. Please let me know what to do for this beauty. Thanks,p
Generally the seed pods will form late in the growing season! Honestly I think it's probably fine to move the plant-if it's currently early summer where you're at! That will give it some time to establish itself before the fall. It may not bloom or produce seed pods this year though (in my experience with other perennials)
@@ByBrittanyG Thank you so much for the advise. I think I will go ahead and move it into a sunny location. I'll fix a little "tent" for it for a few days to acclimate to the sun. I have one good sized asclepias tuberosa and this morning I find it totally beaten down by the long hard rain down pour we had last night. I staked and trussed it up with some twine. NOTHING else was effected at all. Just my precious tuberosa!!! Oh, well. I pray for my plants. I moved a wild dogwood to my yard and many prayers and TLC for a season and it is flourishing in its new and honored place. :^) Thanks again and blessings, p
That's really smart, I had always just kept the entire pods but this is way better
Yeah! I was throwing them into common areas too :)
I've heard that milkweed has many varities and one 1 is edible. I found some pods like you have. Are they the edible kind?
No idea, sorry!
