Topping water where? I dont think u need to top up water anywhere. Since the overflow will function all the time. The water in the overflow wont evaporate. The water in ur fish tank will evaporate tho

in your first example, you cut off the top. That is essential, I am interested in using that round trip system connecting the fish tank to a cooler. If I cut at the top, the water comes into contact with the air and the temperature drops faster.

If ur return pump is 530 gph, then ur overflow needs to be able to drain at least 530 gph or higher, else the overflow won't be able to handle it...the piping used in the video is ANSI (US / UK) standard fitting. The siphon pipe is 15mm and the outer pipe used is 25mm. And for the last design in the video, it is also using the 25mm size. I can't really advice what size to used, maybe you need to do trial and error.
Yes, the usage of the pvc pipe is to mimic an overflow box. But the right size of the siphon (inner pipes) and outer pipes needs to be right so that water flow is not restricted.

U can checkout my other overflow videos . I would recommend the overflow for beginners, its easy to build and flow rate depends on the size of the pipe that you use.

I don’t see the need for double overflow coz your return pump is there to cycle the fixed volume of water… or you could reduce the pump speed. Anyway, great video. Thanks.

Should be able too. 1 1/2 " is pretty big size. Yes u need a venturi to suck out any air Bubbles that may get trapped inside. U should check out my other video where i made a transparent version.

How would you match the pump flow rate with this? I have a similar siphon out of large 1.25 inch pvc but a slightly different design with a wier. I find it absolutely impossible to match the pump speed to the overflow speed. The water level for the return pump is either going up or down and I'm constantly adjusting the valves to no avail
For surface overflow, all you need to make sure is the max flow rate of ur overflow is larger than your return pump. Eg. Return pump is 1000L/H and ur overflow is 1500L/H. This will mean than your overflow can match ur pump return rate anywhere between 1L/H and 1500L/H. But if your pump is having a flow rate of 1600 L/H, means its not balance and your tank will fill up more water than your overflow can siphon out which will cause the imbalance. Hope this helps.

Unlike an overflow whose rate would increase / decrease to reach equilibrium with the pump, the siphon runs at max until it breaks. Hence I'm constantly fiddling with ball valves at the return end trying to match the siphon speed. My siphon does not use a hangon box. It's a direct siphon from the tank

Could you please tell me the size of PVC pipe comonent.
The bigger size pipr are 1" and the smaller one are 1/2".

You may need to test and see. Because each tank setup is different and may have effect on the flow rate. I cannot really confirm

Tidak perlu sampai dasar. Boleh tergantung. Tidak sama rata pada hujung pun boleh.
