    Why do so many hairdressers not know how to cut wavy/curly hair? It's frustrating!

    • @lilflower25
      @lilflower25 8 років тому +43

      I agree. I ask for this cut all the time, but no one seems to know how to do it. I end up with holes on the sides and the layers are all different lengths. It's VERY frustrating indeed! Hey SalonGuy, would YOU please cut my hair?! You are the only one who knows what they are doing!

    • @sarcasticallyrearranged
      @sarcasticallyrearranged 8 років тому +22

      Lori My BROTHER is a hairdresser, and I don't even trust him to cut my hair properly! I wish cosmetology schools taught how to cut curly hair.

    • @lilflower25
      @lilflower25 8 років тому +9

      Sarcastically Deranged Wow! lol. Does he get pissed at you? I agree. It should be taught. But this is a basic layer cut that they teach. And I'm not kidding, all of the stylists I've been too don't know how to do it right. And a few have been cutting hair for over 25 years! That's just pathetic. I don't know where to go anymore because I know they are going to fuck it up. I guess I am just going to have to let it grow out and forget the layers. But then it's just a frizzy mess. Ugh.

      Lori I don't cut my hair any more. It's all one length, and always in a ponytail or bun.I have thought about just cutting it really short,but then it's a pain growing it back out.

    • @lilflower25
      @lilflower25 8 років тому +1

      Sarcastically Deranged That's what I'm going to do now too. After this last screw up, I told myself I'm done. I used to have really short hair and yes it is a pain growing it back out. It took me a few years to get it where I wanted it.

    Thank you SO MUCH!! I clicked through this video, saw the end result, and said YES. This is exactly what I've been wanting! Then I went back and watched it all the way through like 5 times, compared it with the other version posted in 2017 (when you mentioned in that video about the dreaded triangle shape, I felt it in my SOUL. I HATE it when my hair looks like a triangle!), bought an $8 pair of haircutting shears, a $1 packet of tiny hair elastics, rigged a second mirror in my bathroom so I could see the back of my head, and 2 hours later it was done!! I've never cut my own hair before, but hey, it's quarantine time, so I figured if I messed up, no big deal.... But no! My hair is ROUND! It's a beautiful shape, super easy to style using my normal method, and I was able to do it all by myself thanks to your wonderful instructions! I'm used to paying $100 at the salon just so I can be sure that my hair's not going to get butchered, but no more! I'm so so happy with this result and so grateful that you shared all the details in a really accessible way. THANK YOU!

    Thank you very much. Two weeks ago i went to a hairdresser to do a layered cut on my curly hair which was below my shoulder blades in length. She did a short straight bob.I was very upset and sad. I had nightmares for a week and was still depressed about it until i came across your video. Not all hairdressers that claim to know how to cut curl hair can. i saw in your video i can still get some definition back on my hair and be curly again/ Thank you.:)

    I want this haircut so bad! I've only gotten my hair cut a couple times in the past few years, because every time I go, I'm hugely disappointed. Even when I go to people who are supposed to be good at cutting curly hair, it turns out awful. This cut is EXACTLY what I'm looking for, but I don't know how to make it happen! Can you please fly to me and cut my hair?? :D

    After reading the comments it seems this is a frustration shared by many. I’m a cosmetology student and my instructor made our first hair cut be done on a permed mannequin. Yikes! 😳 She went on to tell us all the same things everyone is saying. She also told us if you do it successfully that clients will stay with you. Thanks for this video! I love the tips! I especially like that you shared how to style it. I love curls, I have straight stick hair 😞, so anything that can help these clients show off their amazing curls is awesome!

    Hi salon guy! I'm 55, my hair has thinned. It's super curly and I have a natural part right in the middle that won't go away. Mind you I never, ever use my natural part but it's still there, lol. I love that style and would love to have it. I noticed many salons don't seem to know how to work with curly hair and I've had Terrible experiences. For years now everything is about straightening hair so they automatically assume that's what I want with out even asking me. I've never been a fan of salons and have worn mine naturally long, it's beautiful and everyone loves it but I'm tired of having it, I'm not good at hair so this style seems very easy to maintain. Nice job. This is the tutorial I'm going to show to get this cut, lol. Thank you!!

    My stylist doesn't even section it, or pull the top straight up. She drags it back. I have all different lengths. And I tell her every time to make it all even. But no such luck. It doesn't matter who I go to they just can't get this right. Ugh. MANY stylists need to watch this. Thank you for posting:)

      @sweetrosepraysforyou 7 років тому +3

      I have a hard time finding stylists that know how to properly section. My hair does so much better if it is worked on in sections. Otherwise they miss parts of it and it comes out a bit of a mess with problem ends that create rat's nests.

    • @lilflower25
      @lilflower25 7 років тому

      Sheila Vives I had that same problem too, so now I don't even get it layered anymore. I just get my bangs cut and the bottom skimmed because they don't know how to layer it like this. Mine always worked better in sections too. But I got sick of the mess crappy stylists did, so I just gave up. But I miss it .I would absolutely LOVE to have this cut.

    Hi, I have curly hair but as I age it’s more thin and goes flat on top in no time and I was wondering can I have my hair cut like this but add curtain bangs and shag? I like the shag cut with curtain bang and would also like to throw in some of what you did in your video! What do you think it would look like? I have a little longed than shoulder shoulder length hair and don’t want it to be to far off the shouldered.

    That was an amazing demonstration of curly short haircut . I have similar hair , and would like to know how to maintain them healthy ? How can I reduce the freez ? How many times is a week I need to wash and condition them for them to look healthy ?

    Now if I can only get my hair dresser to watch. She's fabu but I always end up with this boxy shape behind my ears (where my hair is really thick) instead of this blended and rounded look you've created. Thank you!
