It's so true... Suffering gives you understanding. Then you start studding about buddhism to get more understanding and way out of suffering. And then compassion arises. Poor folks.
Quentin, thank you so much for putting this video up. This was wonderful teaching that I may have never had access to, otherwise. I would really love to hear a little more about the story of Kind Ba Dai. I hope you have and are able to put up a short clip on that. A di da phat.
The compassionate people are lonely also because they feel the pain of others. They feel and understanding the sufferings of others. They want to help people even they can'tor even it's hard to do.
Feeling lonely can be controlled to not feel that. My sufferings grew alot cuzi ran away from it all the time. Slowing down and avoid distractions so i face it to reduce and help others to suffer less so our society can benefit from it :)
Taking time, spending moments in facing, handling, taking care of our own suffering is difficult. We are averse, afraid to do it because of suffering’s accompanying pain… but Mindfulness meditation & Understanding empowers us, gives us powerful encouragement that this is the right thing & good thing to do, that we will suffer less, we will be helpful to others, we will be happier, more fulfilled, free! And so we slowly try again … We develop the skill doing it… Good luck to us all…
The problem for many teachers is that they are under the cosh of the churches They are bound by the teachings of the church They don't have the freedom to show how to aliviate suffering in this way Unfortunately that is a reality for too many people

He is a wonderful man, some great teachings, but what all the Buddhists fail to address is overwhelming feeling of anxiety and physical symptoms in the present moment. Not the future or the past, right now. I practice but I get no lasting benefits
@david5596 hello, I'm sorry you are suffering. It's a year later but might I suggest in this situation looking to the future and the past. When I was overcome and trapped by the present one way I found peace was to focus on the blessings of the past. But most importantly was focusing on the gift of tomorrow. I can't believe how lucky we are that we get to have a tomorrow, a chance to forget, a chance to grow, a chance to try again. Such amazing gifts. The most precious gift I have ever received is the ability to say this was a bad day but maybe tomorrow might be different.
I believe in the present there is no anxiety, cause anxiety is caused by fear. And fear can only exist by past memories, or future worries. Every worry can be felt in the right now only cause it is compared to something, instead if being welcomed fully just for how it is, with full acceptance. It is super hard cause our brain built up systems to keep us safe, from the uncertain, or pain… I know anxiety as well, and physical symptoms, they can be slowly relased with breathwork and letting your body feel safe by allowing every moment exist in the way it is cause actually it is just perfect with all the “bad and good” it shows. I believe in the right now, our brain doesn’t compare, doesn’t judge, thats when it is fully present. There is a type of real freedom by realising how everything is just a made up illusion by thoughts. There are no actual problems, cause it started to be a problem after it was labeled like that by the brain. I hope you can find your ways to deal better with anxiety. That is also fine it exist. Connected to yourself by breathing helps!
Continuing to return to your breathing is so helpful but I do think sometimes we need professional counselling. You don't have to struggle along on your own, please get some help
If in kingdom of god theres is🎉 suffering, too, whats the diff😮erence between samsara and nirvana, and,why then striving for the kingdom of god at all.i wellcome any response, .........
This teaching confuses. Thay says that if there is no suffering then no compassion arises. How was Shakyamuni Buddha then able to realize the ultimate cessation of suffering in Samsara and become a non-returner? Did he eliminate his compassion too?
Perhaps if we understand 'ultimate' not in a static but in the sense of a continuous process, you can understand that the 'suffering to understanding to compassion to happiness path' is something that we do (we practice) all the time for every new, different situation. Not just a once-off practice. I also find it useful not to mix up the Teacher and the Teachings together. So often, so many stories have been made up of the Teachers' life (Buddha, Jesus etc) over so many generations that we could have any idea of their truth. But in the practices, we can see for ourselves if they truly work or not...teehee, I sure hope what I've said here hasn't confused things further! Better to practice than to talk:)
Suffering was overcome by the Buddha because he knew how to suffer less. For example, Shakiamani Buddha's foot was hurt when a boulder rolled into it at Vulture's Peak. He touched his foot to heal it, and one can surmise he would have felt compassion for the one who on purpose attacked him, not anger.
I understand it like this: if you don't even know what suffering is, you can't be compassionate. So, when you become a compassionate human being after you have suffered, compassion is "consequence" that lasts forever, even when suffering disappears.

He has some insight but totally disagree with his suffering theory . Yes we can choose to be happy and make life changes , but he also contradicts the fact that people can have mental illness and this can be the cause of their suffering . Yes compassion is from understanding , but no one can control the suffering just by been compassionate . Redicoulus to say without suffering there is no happiness
I also don’t know how I feel about the whole without sadness there is no happiness etc. Like we need the negative to see the positive always. Yes I believe we can gain understanding, and wisdom from dealing with suffering but I feel like I don’t need to have felt hunger to appreciate a good meal. I don’t need abuse to to know when I’m being treated well. And definitely can I feel happy without suffering first.
