The sincerity of the presentation, along with sound information made it a joy to watch.

I think the dirt would insulate in winter as well.

Thanks for this. I'm trying to find the most eco-friendly solution for the madness that is working from home, and it looks like adding sedum to the roof of whatever I find will be a definite. Hard to find providers of garden studios who truly have eco principles going on, alas.

I live in the United States. No one here is doing green roofs. I’d like to start with my own house before going in to my construction business.
I have a 2-12 slanted roof. Nearly flat. But it’s metal. Can I install an extensive roof over the metal roof?

Thanks Graeme. Of course, if you can collect the water in a butt or similar, then you can use it for watering the garden, pot plants, whatever!

When growing an extensive green roof on a flat roof, like the one shown on 2:30 is it ok to walk on it and use it as a terrace, or is better not to? Or depends on whats planted? Also, how much maintenance do these roofs need ?

Make something for existing composite roofs thats light, so i don't have to replace it with toxic materials that are constantly leaching all year🙏.

Hi I have a tiled roof but the green stuff you are talking about is growing on it. I have lived here 25 years and it hasn’t fallen in yet. Having said that the birds love to pick at it for any grubs or anything else but this results in the drain downspout being clogged and I have to pressure wash the paths every month to remove all the bits that have come down. I don’t mind much as the birds are being feed I just wish I could teach them to chuck the rubbish onto next doors area instead of mine. You might think that as being a bad neighbour but as I have not been able to teach the birds I plead insanity as my defence.

Do green roof-sounds like moss does quite well!!! That is quite cheap-tear some of your favorite species off of objects or the ground, plop some up there with some chunks of heavily weathered granite and moss cultured rocks and ta-da! Throw some grass seed up there and never have rubbish again, eh?😉

you don't need to mention climate change to convince me, any temperature above 20 degrees Celsius is too warm for me haha
