A quick few tips regarding merchants. 1. If you cannot set permissions on a 'loot' NPC it is because you (or your players) have not been assigned(chosen) a character yet. In the bottom left corner of your screen, you will see a 3 people icon with a dropdown titled 'Players'. Expand this and ensure each player has linked a character. If it is done right it will look like this: PlayerName[characterName]. Any player that has not been linked to a character will not appear in the Permissions section on a lootable NPC. This is NOT the same as Configure Permission you access by right clicking on an Actor. 2. If your loot is disappearing it is most likely because you changed the settings of the token rather than the actor. I've found that amending the actor, ensuring it is perfect before dropping the actor on to a scene, is the most reliable method of not having vanishing loot.
damn, I wish you'd come out with an updated version! Foundry has come a long way since then, and all these modules are broken :( Thanks for the vid though!
This is an awesome video, super informative, and compact! I'm having a problem getting this to work at all though, I've double checked all my stuff and watched the video 3 or 4 times now trying to figure out where I went wrong, no dice. Token is a one word name "Barkeep", so that's not it.
A common issue is forgetting to change the scene you're working in to the active scene, otherwise just make sure everything is typed correctly, modules are activated in game and such as well.
Thank you!! looks as easy as pie... but! Trying it in 11e, the trigger happy won't work. Any ideas for an alternative? or should I wait for the inevitable update?
Hey.. Idk if this will get seen or not but any chance of an updated version of this video? I think when foundry updated it broke the code your hosting. That or I'm just an idjit an can't get this to work...
It still works, just make sure you've updated everything. The code for the Macro can be found under Compendium > Macro > NPC Chatter > Specific Token Chatter. Also make sure you put spaces in the Trigger Happy Journal Entry like this: @Token[Barkeep] @Trigger[click] @Macro[Barkeep_Greeting] Without spaces it was failing for me, too.
Hello for everyone. READ IT IF U HAVE PROBLEM WTH THIS. One of the problems that I have had, after following these tutorials from various channels, is that nothing happened (No chat from the NPCs). There wasn't even an error message. the problem is the permissions of the macros, which must be set to LIMITED. Good night
Thanks for the great video. I managed to get everything working after a bit of investigating. The only thing I can't seem to figure out is how to turn my bookcases, shelves etc... into merchants like you demonstrate in your magic shop in another video. Any leads?
Update 2023: The Merchant NPC sheet works fine, but NPC Chatter is no longer available. Awesome video though. This has made shopping in my game so much faster and simpler.
This was really helpful, thank you! When I do this though, my NPC only chats when I click the macro and not when I click the token. Any ideas what I did wrong?
If that's the case, it's probably a problem with the Triggers. Make sure everything in the Trigger journal is spelled correctly. Check the Token configuration, and make sure the token itself is named exactly as whats inside @Token[]. If that doesn't work, make the token's name a single phrase without spaces. For some reason I ran into trouble when I tried tokens whose names had a space in them.
Is this currently possible in PF2? I know there's been improvements to the merchant sheet. But not sure if it's done yet. (When selling, will the merchant need to have enough money to buy the item?)
This is super awesome! Thank you for sharing this so much, this will make a session Im working on way cooler. One snag though, I wanted to use the same dialogues for multiples of the same token (like waitresses, courtesans etc) and while clicking any of them totally works, the bubble only ever pops up over one of them on the map, rather than the ones clicked. Any idea whats going on or maybe a work around?
The Loot Sheet Module has other versions for other systems. Pathfinder 2e has its own built in. As for trigger happy and npc chatter it should work in all systems.
Is there any way to make the NPC chatter work on a non active scene? In my campaign I have it set up to where one player can go to one scene while another player goes to a different one in a market using the teleport poi module. But using this module does not activate the scene so it won’t work with chatter effects. Any tips?
One question - I made a merchant using this and logged in as a player to test it and I was able to select the merchant and walk around as them. How do I turn that off?
Hey this video's almost a year old, it's definately outdated at this point! Fairly certain this functionality is still possible however, I'd ask in the Foundry VTT Discord.
I have tried and watched the video so many times. Scene is the active one and everything but I can not get the text to show. (Was capable of setting store up)
attention any new people to this video, The merchant NPC lootsheet 5e barely works. It will deduct money from the player character, but not add the item to their sheet. The roll-table functionality is completely gone and broken. There are other modules that achieve this same merchant effect I believe though. Chatter still works great!
This is an excellent video. Quick and to the point with fast training guides. Thank you so much.
Woah this is great! Definitely going to be implementing this into my game. Thanks for putting this together.
Thanks! I'll be making more like this soon.

Absolutely fantastic showcase, thank you! Liked, subscribed, and I’ll be goinng through your older videos for more tips. :)
Sure thing! Should have something new coming out next week too now that I have power again!
damn, I wish you'd come out with an updated version! Foundry has come a long way since then, and all these modules are broken :( Thanks for the vid though!
Sneaky Kobold... whenever I watch a video of yours I end up putting another module into my campaigns.
Stay crunchy.
Perfect timing. I need this for a traveling merchant in next weeks game :) Thank you!!
Doesn't look like Trigger Happy and NPC Chatter are available any longer, what a shame this was the best setup I've seen so far.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention KDM!
I was already using lootsheet merchants, but adding the chatter is a really cool touch!

The 3:26 script you mention cannot be copied from the link you have in the description.
I really like your videos and your style. I hope you can continue to make good videos and host great dnd games! (:

Definitely broken by updates. It's all still possible, but I'd reccomend checking out the foundry discord for some help.
do you found a fix to the video?
It still works, just make sure you've updated everything. The code for the Macro can be found under Compendium > Macro > NPC Chatter > Specific Token Chatter. @@kylania Thanks, i had to activate the scene to work.

what things you modified from the video?
Quick warning: V.10 of Foundry broke this module and as of writing this comment it doesn't work.
any chance of a updated video? Some of these mods seems to not be able to be downloadable anymore
hmmm, I copied the code from the link and followed all the steps. my NPC only says his dialog when I click on the macro. What did I do wrong? ;_;
Update 2023: The Merchant NPC sheet works fine, but NPC Chatter is no longer available. Awesome video though. This has made shopping in my game so much faster and simpler.
I was able to get it to work on Forge. I think it's a Foundry version compatibility issue.
Amazing! Great work, and looking forward to your future videos…
...is it done yet? 😉
The follow up for the bazaar is my next project. Stay tuned!
Anyway to do this w/o using 5e? I'm using SWADE and this looks like just the thing I could use...
Hmm.. I've set it all up as you described, with Trigger Happy and NPC Chatter, but nothing happens when I click on the NPC :(
Never mind. You have to logon as a player to see if it works and then it works like a charm!
What i really want to know is how you got the wall occlusion to not be solid black.
Awesome video! Is there a way to change the value of an item from gold to silver, plat etc?
does this go both ways. I cant get the text to come up but my characters can buy items but what about selling?
Players can put items in the inventory of the merchant, but I don't think money is automatically put into the players' inverntory.
this is damn awesome
What song is this. Hopefully can use in my foundry session
Thank you!
does anyone have the code? I tried going to the site he linked in the description but it is blocked...
Thanks a lot 👍

How do you upload equipment into foundry vtt? In a scalable way through excel or by uploading it.
the macro does not work. Says "No token passed in"
I'm getting the same. Someone else said this method is broken now...
Is this currently possible in PF2?
I know there's been improvements to the merchant sheet. But not sure if it's done yet.
(When selling, will the merchant need to have enough money to buy the item?)
From what I've heard, the PF2 System has its own version of the Loot Sheet module included. I would ask on the Foundry VTT discord for more details

Please create a sequel for doing the same (if possible) with the PathFinder 2e instead.
Does this only work in dnd right now?
The Loot Sheet Module has other versions for other systems. Pathfinder 2e has its own built in. As for trigger happy and npc chatter it should work in all systems.
can you do this on pathfinder second edition?
2nd this

Unfortunately not as I know. You might get a better answer in the foundry vtt discord though!

Token ownership
Arg it's doesn't work on my FoundryVTT 9.238 with DnD5e 1.5.6
Even the loot chest without macro, my player can't open it :/
Hey this video's almost a year old, it's definately outdated at this point! Fairly certain this functionality is still possible however, I'd ask in the Foundry VTT Discord.
Why the player got a message 'Not enough fund to purchase this item' even he has much more in gold
I have tried and watched the video so many times. Scene is the active one and everything but I can not get the text to show. (Was capable of setting store up)
I'd ask in the Foundry VTT discord, they can help troubleshoot more than I can.
@@KoboldDM does it have to be in player view for text? To show mostly?
The link to the macro is down :(
Amazing
theres a mod that lets players read any languages they speak i wonder if it could work with that chatters mod
As far as i know that mod doesn't work with this setup.
Am I the only one not getting the option for changing the sheet
Cool map
Can you link the scene youre using please?

Is it possible to SELL the items to the shopkeeper?
Not that I know of.
V10 as of October 2022, this module NO LONGER WORK. No replies on Dev.
I did everything right and it isn't working :(
Make sure you're on the Active Scene before trying it out! Double check that you've got the mods activated in the mod list as well.

Which other mods are out there as a replacement? I'm having issues with this current one.
