3:59 : That kind of shot... Awesome :) Wide enough to get a good feel of the scene, with just the right depth so we can focus on the subject - Even though the lens is expensive, that combo with the S5 is outputting quality way over its price. Been waiting for this lens for over a year. Actually I bought the S5 just for this set of primes. (skipping the 24)
Lovely review! I’ll be very sad to give this lens back 🥲 I really want to try it for astrophotography but. Alas…. Nothing but clouds in the uk right now!
Nice lens. I need it for shooting real estate video. I have the 50mm f1.8 for detail shots, but this one will be the primary lens. Thanks for the review.
I've been shooting all my content with a GH5 and G85 in 4K. But, I'm really liking the look of the FF S5II and these primes. Thanks for this review (and your others).
@@GeekyNerdyTechy lol- I won't be buying it, but maybe I will try it. I didn't find the "jello" effect half as bad as Canon's- but I only lived it thru your hands on, I might feel like you when doing a hands on myself lol.
Damn man you're everywhere! Started watching this and thought 'man is this the guy that I ended up buying my strat based off of his reviews?' Great Video mate, didn't know you had a tech channel as well!
haha! Thanks. Yeah I am a big fan of tech. I am going to start focusing on this more over the next 12 months. I am really enjoying being outside shooting videos for a change. :)
Thank you for this very nice review! Would you mind to share your natural pictures profile settings? (Like contrast/highlight/shadow/hue) . Looks so nice and true to Life. Thank you 🙏🏻
It's a lot better in APSC crop mode as you're losing the edges of the frame where the wobble is. My vlogging technique isn't the best either, so if you have more experience you might get better results than me.
It should come with one? Where did you get it from? Maybe double check with the store. You can search for 67mm lens hoods on eBay - quite a few came up.
It’s part of the s5 firmware that works in combination with the lens. The s5 always had less DFT wobble than the GH5 but this combination works great. Panasonic didn’t go into any more detail than that about it but there’s very little pulsing with this combination.
Pumped to try this lens on the S5 ii x when it comes out. Btw Canadians need weather sealing to -40! Actually not - most of us stay inside after -20 or so. 🇨🇦 🥶
Hobbyist here! I have decided! I picked up the 50 so I can pair it with the 18! I don't need more than those two and I think I'll be happy without the others from the set. Thank you for the video!
haha. The AF on the S5 was a nice upgrade over the older cameras at the time. It really comes down to which lens you use with their system. Some are okay, and others can be terrible.

Thanks for the review Shane! Comprehensive, entertaining and educational as usual 👍
Thanks so much! This was a fun lens to test out 😄

Thanks! It's a pretty fun lens for sure. It's cloudy in England all of the time correct? hehe 😄

The S5II is. Noticeable upgrade. The new lenses are fantastic for video. No focus breathing and fast AF.
Looked better than I expected it to look! Great video, big thumbs up 👍👍👍
Thanks, Peter. It's a cool lens! Give it a shot :)

@@GeekyNerdyTechy awesome man, well thanks for your other videos too. Helped get my passion for blues guitar back after a break of about 10 years.
Thx. Neat review. Hope to get this lens together with my S5IIX :D.

If you shoot in APSC mode is there still wobble when vlogging?

Great Review! Cheers!
Thanks Randall. This lens is pretty wild. 😊
Hey Shane! Great review! Do you know where to find those lens hoods? Hood doesn't seem to come with the lens. Thanks!

Great review Shane. 18mm F1.8 is the lens spec I most wanted in Canon land but they only make an uninspiring STM 24mm F1.8 and a 16mm F2.8
Thank you! This makes me want to buy the lens!
It's a fun lens if you need that super-wide look. :)
Excellent review
Thank you 🙏
any chance of putting these on a GH ??
There's a L-Mount to MFT adapter but you'll be doing everything manually
Video wobble algorithm correction , was that one of the firmware updates?

How do you like the 18?
It looks like that Lumix AF works pretty well. I have some traumatic experiences from my days as their ambassador😀

Great review ! Thanks
May I ask you what gimble you use or you would recommand for this S5 and the S1 ?
Thanks
I’m using the DJI Ronin S for the sample clips.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy thanks a lot for your answer
Nice!
Thanks!
Good so bored of photographers reviewing this lens.
That wobble 🤦🏽♂ sheesh, the look is nice though.
Thanks for watching. :)
