Yep. But it can backfire. My dad was an incredible guy, the best. He passed away when I was 16, I’m 33 now been married once, and am perfectly happy alone. In light of what I know it takes to make something real work well I never seem be able to give a guy enough rope to prove themselves. It’s like, I know this person isn’t someone I could get through a big problem like cancer with : he’s a clown. And he’s gone in a month even if there are a hundred good qualities.. you know? Like it makes you more picky when your dad is a hero. And it makes you less patient with bs when you’ve seen what real love is
Yep. I personally struggle with this. My dad was/is never around and I hadn't realised how it has affected me until this point. Growing up, I've never had a male figure nor had a solid relationship with any man/guys ( as friends) it's just been my mom and sister. So I realised that with the two guys I've dated, I've been seeking for love and affection. And when they cheated and left... oh boy when they left, I felt like I was dying. It actually reminded me of my dad disappointing us nd not keeping his promise and the pain he caused my mom. So yeah, idk what it's like to be loved by a man unconditionally. It's hurtful, very mentally damaging and I'm starting to look men in a different way. But I'm so full of love and I wanna love in the near future so I decided to go for therapy. I'm starting on Monday.

Im 26 now and I never forget to hug my dad less than 10 sec. Especially now that I live far away and only gets to visit home once or twice a year. I miss him everyday.
