I'm 13 and going to buy my 1st little pacman frog here pretty soon. I've been saving money and even selling some stuff to get it. I'm also doing lots of research so I can take care of it I the safest and most comfortable way possible!
My Pac-Man is 9 months old, the online research was inconsistent. So my frogs home I use coco fiber substrate 4 in deep, I have a heat mat under the tank, uvb 5.0 light bulb, night time 25 wat heat lamp, fogging system, humidity gadge and thermometer. I never feed inside the tank and bath him once a week during feeding time (to reduce stress) and my frog blew up in size (guessing I’m doing something right) it feels like just yesterday I was feeding her earth worms and now I’m feeding small rats. My frog almost always goes to the bathroom in the bath but still goes in the tank as well.
Our lil froggo is new, and we have a shallow plastic-resin bowl in the tank. We noticed that he or she (still too early to tell) felt comfortable enough to get into it on it's own when we moved it to an area that was semi-surrounded with plants.. I read they like that, as they feel safer than having it more out in the open. Kaeru jumped into it right after coming out of borrowing to have some dinner. When we looked at her/him again, she/he was all clean.
i'm working at petshop, and we do sell pacman frogs. i usually bathe them every 2-3 days because the enclosure is not so big so i thought i should give em bath to clean from their poop. after that i feed them small fish.
i give my frogs a bath, more like a rinse down, b4 and after i feed them, because when i feed my frogs, i put them in a separate clean container so they dont mistakenly eat the dirt which can cause impaction.
Dechlorinate the water? With my animals I give a verbal cue, though I don't know if they "hear it ." But they get trained over time. Also, for cleaning a terrarium, though you did it off camera F10SC diluted accordingly is really useful over just vinegar and water. Frogs are prone to bacterial infections so keeping it super clean is essential. Don't ask how I know. TT
I have my pacman frog on damp coconut fibre with a pile of damp moss in one corner. In the other corner I have a water bowl. The frog goes to soak on the bowl sometimes. So.. I never had to bath him or stress him out by digging him out and handling him. He is over a year old now and very healthy.
Please make sure you condition your water before giving it a bath or misting it. Amphibians take in moisture through their skin, but that also includes chemicals in the water that can harm your little friend. You can buy water conditioning drops at your local pet store for only a few dollars.
My pac man just barked at me. He was completely buried (he did this himself) and I was cleaning up his tank. All of a sudden he let out a bark! Just one. I assumed that meant he didn’t want me in there anymore. Any experience with a bark? I suppose it could be a croak? (Sounded really adorable actually). 😎
That's funny! Mine usually never bark. I'm starting to suspect Snoop Frog is a female. In my last video with the honey bath you can hear her bark when I take her out the substrate 😊
@@JohanExoticGlobal they are addictive! I have 2 L. parahybanas, a T. albopilosum, a B. boehmei, a P. metallica, and a Hapolopus sp. Colombia... Hopefully I spelled all of those correctly 😅
Normally I don't use tap water for bathing my frog. Lots of times the water can be chlorinated for purification, so if you do use tap water get de-chlorinator or just get spring water from the store. Frogs drink through their skin so this is why it is important to know what kind of water you're using
You are a very thoughtful and pleasant personality, with a gift of teaching. I don’t even plan to own a pacman, but I like learning about animals and animal care; and your video is so helpful and interesting, I am subscribing. His markings are very cute! I like his particular stripes on his little hind legs. :). (P.S. Pronunciation of “Temperature”: Thr first time you said it, with the “ch” sound, such as in the word “chalk”? Is the most accurate. (Which is weird, I know. It is odd compared to the actual letters in the spelling. That is how I feel when I see the letters with correct spellings for the words “Copenhagen” and “Worcestershire” (the sauce). The pronunciation sounds quite different to me than what the letters would seem to suggest.) Anyway: TEMPraCHUR (like 3 syllables) sounds most typical in speech. That or TEMP(era)CHUR.
