It’s taking me 2-3 hours just to comb out 1 loc. I’m starting in the front and my hands get so tired. I’ve only had them in about a year and a half but like you I just didn’t like the different sizes. I should have gone to a stylist to start them instead of starting them myself.
I could have wrote this word for word. I have a baby shower coming up on August 19th so I'm undecided if I should take them down now (100 locs) or wait until the end of August. Were you successful in coming yours out?

I know what you mean. It took me 2 years to commit to taking mine down. 😩 I think regardless you’ll see a lot of shed hair (2 years is a long time), but just remember that’s hair that would have shed anyway if you were a loose natural. I was nervous until i took out my first loc. but once I saw the length and how much hair I maintained, I was hype. Lol Good luck beautiful! 💕
I purchased Faux Locks but I trying to think how I want them in. I decided to have my own hair cornrolled, first. Down the back or Honey Bee style. Then with the Crotche’ needle they can be locked in. Oh when I took my braids out, after 10wks. very little hair came out. And yes I washed my scalp, 1 X. a week. And use warm oil on the scalp, Aloe Vera is very very good for Detangling. “Seven Minerals” maybe you can purchase on Amazon. Ok No one should Ever, ever, ever loose that much! Anyway good luck, Honey for the Next time. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Did you see a difference in how long it took to take out the last 1/3 after you drenched your locs with water, conditioned, and put them in a plastic shower cap?
I did, but I can’t remember the time difference. I know that i didn’t have to work as hard. The problem was that, I had to keep repeating that process because my hair dried before I could get to the next loc. so I’d reserve that process for the locs that were really challenging to take out.
Heeeelp!! Started my comb out journey but I am stuck on the first lock at a huge knot that I can't seem to get past. Using conditioner and wet hair but I am not getting anywhere just ripping my hair. Any advice please before I just cut them all off 😭
Ughhh. The Knots are the worst 😩. Deep conditioning my locs helped me when I got stuck. I used my hood conditioner. Soaked my hair and let the conditioner sit in my hair with a shower cap on for hours. That helped me break through. Have you tried that?
Hi, I'm asking for some help: I have long dreadlocks and when I tried to untangle them, the length of my hair reduced a lot and it became super short. How do I maintain the size?
I’m in the middle of taking mine down now and my thumbs are aching! I’m taking a break because they hurt so bad. Did your thumbs hurt during the take out process? If so, how long did the pain last and how did you handle it while continuing to comb out your locs?
Not so much my thumbs, but the palm of my hands cramped a lot. I only did a few locs at a time per day which is why it took me forever. And I didn’t touch my hair every day. Unfortunately I don’t think there’s any workaround except to take a break. 😩
My locs are not absorbing the water and conditioner well. And I have lost a lot of my hair that is bleached. Which I’m thinking should be expected. It’s taking me 2-3 hours per loc.
Just a thought - have you tried doing a deep condition. Like sitting with the conditioner in your hair for an hour before starting to take down a loc? And not sure if it’d help, but perhaps using a heavier conditioner since your hair is more dry from the bleaching.
I’m 4c and unfortunately, I honestly can’t point to any one thing specifically. I took my time and was very gentle, which is why the process took soo long, so likely that helped with reducing breakage and retaining length. Hope that helps and Thanks for watching♥️
I used mostly regular conditioner. I might have put a leave-in conditioner in after I finished taking out my locs, but it’s been so long now that I don’t even remember. 😅
So I’m thinking about combing my locs out . I had an undercut and the barber cut into my loc which left a knot in a few at the back .do you think I Will be able to comb the loc out ?
Hmmm. Idk. I would maybe start by combing just one out just to see how it goes. Just remember to be very gentle especially in any areas where you feel knots. You’ll be tempted to try to yank through the knot. But use extra conditioner, get it really wet, and pick at it gently. It may take a while, but that’s the best way to preserve your hair and avoid any additional damage/breakage.
I don't even like taking down box braids/I like having the option to change my hair style whenever I want, so I know locs are not for me. I be watching loc videos knowing dang well I'm never getting them lol. I'm in box braids 98% of the time because I am lazy when it comes to doing hair. But taking them down and detangling is always the days I hate
I have sisterlocks so these def can't be comb out I couldn't even do my natural hair I'm 6 in a half months in have u thought about getting smaller ones like sisterlocks or micro locks I have 4c hair by the way
I’m Definitely thinking about getting Microlocs. I love the look and versatility of smaller locs, especially when it comes to styling. If I get locs again, I’d definitely be on the Microlocs journey
@@Mrsbwhyte that's very nice I love my sisterlocks I could never do hair and I'm graduating high school next year so me doing hair myself def won't be a option
Certainly. Just keep in mind how many locs you have so you have a realistic expectation of how long it’ll take you to finish. You can do it at whatever pace you’re comfortable with. 💕
I was considering combing out my locs because it’s two that are thinning in the front. I’ve been 2 years loc. I’m afraid to comb them of because i’m afraid it’ll all fall out?? any suggestion for that?? comb them out and just be natural again??
Hey gorgeous, sorry for the late reply. I’d definitely consult a knowledgeable Loctitian. I think the most important thing is to understand why it’s thinning and work to correct that. I ignored my thinning (due to postpartum shedding) and eventually the entire loc just fell out. So whichever route would make it easier for you to get your hair healthy and strong is what I’d do. Your Loctitian should be able to point you in the right direction. Hope that helps. ♥️
Hi, and thanks for watching. 💕 The size of your part and density of your hair plays a role in the size. So you can get smaller parts for smaller locs. If i did it again, that’s the approach I’d take, especially in the middle where my hair is much thicker. It means, I’d have more locs, but the individual size of the locs would be smaller.
LOL, it’s a lot to manage. Not gonna lie. 😂 But I’m still not touching my hair often, which keeps it from being too overwhelming. Plus I’m genuinely LOVING the length. Thanks so much for watching 💕

No, I didn’t do a real “wash”. I mainly rinsed my hair as I went. 🥴
45 mins to take out one locs lol why is it taking me over 1h a loc haha anyways I am being patient, i will get through 😅
Hi, I'm asking for some help: I have long dreadlocks and when I tried to untangle them, the length of my hair reduced a lot and it became super short. How do I maintain the size?
I’m not sure, sorry. I’d ask a Loctitian for suggestions.
Just found your channel, what kind of LOC did you begin with...still doing research on what type of LOC to do my hair in...Thank you
I did traditional locs and started/maintained it with palm rolling. Hope that helps And thanks for watching! 💜
Hey did you start locs with palm twist or two strands? And did you ever interlock?
I started with palm rolls. And nope, I never interlocked. Just did palm rolls the entire time. ❤️
Love it!
Thanks for watching ♥️
Thanks for watching!
You might have to ship the clippers to me. I don’t know if I am going to make it and I didn’t start yet.
😂😂😂. You’ve got this sis, I believe in you! Lol
Did you start your locs by the interlock method ?
Nope, palm roll.
@@Mrsbwhyte thank you!
Omgggg. What is your hair type and how did you retain so much length??
I’m 4c and unfortunately, I honestly can’t point to any one thing specifically. I took my time and was very gentle, which is why the process took soo long, so likely that helped with reducing breakage and retaining length. Hope that helps and Thanks for watching♥️
Is that a leave in conditioner?
I would love to see your loose hair in another video.
Coming soon! 💕
Hi, how long did you have your locs?
Hi! It was about 3 years.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh this is me right NOW! I started June 26th. 17 locs out 134 to goooooo. Pass me them clippers 😭😭😭😩
Oh girrrrll, my heart goes out to you right now. 😩😩
This is me right now. Ughhhhhhh I didn’t even start yet
I don't think I can handle combing out my locks.can interlocking locks be taken out
I’ve definitely seen a few videos of people combing out interlocks, but I don’t know a lot about that process.
Where isss the update videooooo
I’m mad late, I know. Lol. But it’s coming. Thanks so much for watching 💕
Gorgeous woman with beautiful hair 😍 💕
Thank you!! 😊
Hahaa. I feel you. I’m a lazy natural too. I’m already struggling with finding a routine now that I’m a loose natural 😩
How long did you have your locs for
About 4 years 💕
"If not, watch me shave my head" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 me whenever my hair doesn't cooperate 😂
So you feel me! 😂😂😂
Shoot this is making me want to love just for the sake of that length retention. Boom
10/10 was worth it to me for that reason alone sis. And thanks for watching 💕
I've been combing out my locs for 7months. I hate it here lol
7 months?! Shout out to you for the commitment! Lol. You almost finished?
I don't know if I missed that part, for how long you had your locs, did you interlock or palmrolling?
Hey beautiful! I had it in for about 4.5years and I did palm rolling. 💕
@Mrsbwhyte wow
Mine is 2yrs now
So I can undo
Sad I got someone who did use a crotchet on me yet the initial was pam rolled
It's now a hot mess
Is it possible to take out one loc a day?
Certainly. Just keep in mind how many locs you have so you have a realistic expectation of how long it’ll take you to finish. You can do it at whatever pace you’re comfortable with. 💕
First time seeing a youtuber name sake ❤
Omg, I love “meeting” other Bernadette’s. Thanks for watching! ♥️
@@Mrsbwhyte you're most welcome I was happy seeing that we share the same name and we both have dimples 🙈
@@bernadettemungala4280 heheee. Love it!
It took me a week I got 1 row left now 😂
I was considering combing out my locs because it’s two that are thinning in the front. I’ve been 2 years loc. I’m afraid to
comb them of because i’m afraid it’ll all fall out?? any suggestion for that?? comb them out and just be natural again??
Hey gorgeous, sorry for the late reply. I’d definitely consult a knowledgeable Loctitian. I think the most important thing is to understand why it’s thinning and work to correct that. I ignored my thinning (due to postpartum shedding) and eventually the entire loc just fell out. So whichever route would make it easier for you to get your hair healthy and strong is what I’d do. Your Loctitian should be able to point you in the right direction. Hope that helps. ♥️
Looking good, boo!!!! 😘😘😘
Love you!!! ♥️♥️♥️
Where’s the after
Coming next week 🤞 💕
Yaaaasssss sis!!!!
Thank you! ♥️🥰
“It was not handled” 😂 im still mid video, just thought that was hilarious
I really wasn’t prepared 😂
Your hilarious 😂
Beautiful Hair
Thank you so much and thanks for watching ♥️
When you grow locs you can't not control the size of how it's going to grow
Hi, and thanks for watching. 💕 The size of your part and density of your hair plays a role in the size. So you can get smaller parts for smaller locs. If i did it again, that’s the approach I’d take, especially in the middle where my hair is much thicker. It means, I’d have more locs, but the individual size of the locs would be smaller.
I want someone to take money out.. had mine since 2019
I feel you. If I had to do it again, I would probably pay someone to do it for me.
🤣🤣🤣 She thinks that hair is gonna be fun. Good luck with all that
LOL, it’s a lot to manage. Not gonna lie. 😂 But I’m still not touching my hair often, which keeps it from being too overwhelming. Plus I’m genuinely LOVING the length. Thanks so much for watching 💕
It took me 6 weeks to comb out my locs smh!
So it’s not just me. Lol. I was looking at these videos where it took them 2 weeks to comb out their locs. Definitely not how that went over here. 😂
a soldier
Hahaa. Thank you!
Hi so sorry for your loss and pray for your healing and comfort. I’ve combed mine out twice and my wonder is if you use the pre poo to detangle the locs of it would’ve worked. I plan to comb mine out at 3.5years currently at 2 and will try this. Thanks for your video ❤️
Thank you so much for your prayers and your comment - It really means a lot. ❤️ also, I love how forward planning and intentional you are with your hair! #hairgoals
You’re welcome, love your hair as well, enjoy❤️
Hi There Sweetheart🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️💋🌹🌹. You poor baby, Listen Listen, Is this your first Tutorial? That amount of hair you are holding makes No Sense! I could see where your hair broke off along each side of your head. 9wks, you beat me ,I had my hair braided and they took 4 Hours to put in. Hi! They weren’t faux locs. Lol. They were real locs and I had them in for over 4 years which is why I had that much shedding. Thanks for watching. 💕
