I was surprised with how you edited the game to leave out certain missions and include others that help add to the main story. My only wish is that you included some of the frozen wilds in this but other than that you did an amazing job well done 👏

I have to say that this is the best film adaptation of a game I've seen so far. I love these film games but they always are disjointed, the story breaks constantly, they are super confusing and most of he times very poorly put together. So well done Andy!
What an inspiring masterpiece! It’s like a legit epic tale without all the overdramatic twists of the classical epics. In the Aztec myth of creation there is a kind of zero dawn system. The world was built and destroyed four times with our world being the fifth recreation or Fifth Sun. Different causes made the world fall but to rebirth the world it was necessary that a God sacrificed itself. It fits pretty well with this story. I wonder if the scriptwriter was inspired by that. Btw 6 hours of movie it’s like 12 anime episodes! You gave us a whole sci-fi season! Thank you very much 🌹
At first I though I was crazy going for a "game" movie like this! If you read my extensive comment July 25, 2021 you can see that after watching it twice I discovered so much more to it! The Aztec/Mayan connection is incredibly obvious! ... not just extravagant costuming! Dec. 2012 was the end of the 13th bak'tun beginning 3114 BC cycle in the Mayan calendar. So many people believed that it would be almost a kind of end of the world! Yes! I see much of the classical/mythic connections in this movie... however I don't believe there was a singular "God" sacrifice! Sacrifice is one of the may themes running through this film. To try to put it in a way where you might understand: Yes there was a "good" God sacrificed however you seem to forget that the "bad" God was also sacrificed!!! Therefor The Christian concept falls apart here! There are two sides to God... both dark and light...in this movie you see that in the end one cannot be sacrificed/destroyed without the other!!! Instead of submitting life upon Earth to such a disaster as neutralizing light with darkness this happened upon another level where forces of darkness and light shall forever be at odds. It is the realization that we are gods unto ourselves that we can begin to take genuine responsibility for our actions or lack thereof. With this realization we cannot blame the crap that happens upon either a good God or a bad God! It is high time that we develop our CONSCIENCE! Aloy demonstrates this as she moves through one scene to another. You can see her grow and develop in this way!!! One thing that really makes or breaks a movie: character development!
Yeah I was like, hold up, why is this resonating to be true of the real history the masses are not in knowing of. The destruction of previous civilization on earth. So many documentaries i have watched, this simple movie ties a lot of it together.

Such an amazing story and game, its the only game both of my teenage daughters played to completion and one even played it again. For a father of only daughters who thought he'd never share the joy of gaming with his kids Horizon Zero Dawn was the gateway for my girls to get into gaming, thank you Guerilla Games.
One thing I've noticed about your videos is that you're apparently really good at playing these games! Hope you're rewarded somehow for all of your hard work. Like always, the editing in this video is an easy 10/10 Can't wait for your future projects.
You should play it even if its in the easiest settings just for the movie part of it as a whole. I loved it and whats great is I play it a different time just once in a year lots of fun
The same, I only watched this movie and wow, it could've been in the cinemas! Especially loved the beginning where they were establishing Aloy being an outcast.
If you ever wanted to try playing one this will make you fall in love. Open world to explore is ideal to wow you with adventure and the graphics. I'm always in awe how much detail and work went into the this game. The story is compelling, and not having seen this movie version of spoilers, the game keeps you wanting more of the backstory and mystery of who you are.
Finished watching this for a refresher of Zero Dawn in anticipation of my first playthrough of Forbidden West. This is the gold standard of how story recaps can be done on youtube. Thanks!

I loved it when Aloy immediately understood the holographic image of a round Earth, causing Sylense to choke as he finally realized that he was talking to somebody as smart as or probably smarter than he was. These touches make this game top-notch!

They even gave a reason that she is so hard to kill: Her DNA is only 99.63% Elizabeth Sobek. 0.47% is modified, which is nearly enough, if desired, to turn her into an ape, so this was used by Gaia to "soup" her up to give her a very good chance of living long enough to do her job -- she was always smart enough, of course. Best video game ever made, so far.
This is perfect, just what I needed. I wanted to see the full story again but didn’t want to make a 4th playtrough in fear of getting “burned” being so close to Forbidden West.
The game, the story, the production values, everything points to one of the finest achievements in gaming history. If the Forbidden West is merely half as good it will be great! Loved the movie version as well. It's a genuine work of love!

Aloy is one of the strong game characters I've been played. The gameplay and missions are great. Especially the soundtrack. I've lost count of how many times I'm playing this game from the beginning after I've finished it. GREAT GAME!
What's wrong with subtitles? lmao. For people like me who can barely hear, they're magical. Luckily though, this entire video seems to be close captioned manually though, so it doesn't matter that much that he played with the in-game subtitles off!
The problem is with forced subtitles. I agree subtitles are super useful for those who need them. For those of us that don't, however, they can be extremely distracting, so I'd just prefer not to force them on people. However because so many people do need them, I've started transcribing my movies manually, and yeah, that's a time consuming process 😄

HZD is my favorite game, and it was so nice to have this so I could share it with my mother. She is 60 years old and has never been into videogames, but she loved the story, and the way you compiled it all had her completely forgetting she was watching a game. She is already planning a trip to come out for your HFW video.

I like to use the tap to show HUD function for navigation and leave my reticle on since it doesn't appear when not aiming. You can track your remaining ammo by pulling up the weapon wheel, and the Focus for everything else
I originally had the tap to show HUD option on, but it popped up accidentally in the middle of the Proving when my thumb slipped, so I turned that option off

Best game I have played since MSG 2, 3 & 4. The story blew me away I completed it 3 times on PS4 and hitting 4 times on PC now. I can't skip anything either it's just to good.

It's a game guide, it's a movie, it's entertaining. This to me is how you make a video game movie from the source material. Ok granted using the ps4 graphics and the game itself but still if adaptations did this kind of thing more often for live action (maybe not quite as long in one sitting). I would happily collect the set over time. Well done!

I'll usually put on the movie version of video games I've finished in the background while I work just to have some noise going on. This is by far the best game "movie" I've ever seen. Masterfully cut! I love how you handle the transitions going from place to place. The sweeping shots with official soundtrack music is mwah! Chef's kiss!

Subtitles took me 15 days of work to type up, but I think it's worth it in the end, especially since they can be translated into other languages (helps a lot getting my video out to other regions)
Very impressed with the quality of editing and reduction in game play without losing the story. This is my favourite game and I think you've done it justice. Having done my fair share of video editing, I have some idea of the time and patience taken to do this. One question for you Andy: what was the reason behind omitting the scenes inside the mountain of Aloy discovering the nursery where she was born and where the other kids were raised?
IIRC, I believe I felt the pacing worked better flowing directly into the next cutscene, and that cutscene gave enough information about what that facility was used for. Those are definitely cool moments to see as the player, but I think the important information about that scene is conveyed without them, and it flows better imo.
I am totally stunned by this game, i have seen a lot of post apocalypse games and movies but i haven't been so immersed and amazed by the story line like horizon zero dawn
Faiezhar Francesc He is easily the best when it comes to game movies. When I’m looking for a specific one I always check his channel first to see if he’s done it and if he doesn’t than I’ll go find someone else, but even then I know that whichever one I settle on it probably won’t be as good as if Andy had done it.

This is absolutely masterful! I'm playing the game now but started many months ago. It's a VERY LONG game but this movie version is a perfect blend of the gameplay, dialogue and the cut scenes with flawless editing. With all of the quests in the game it's hard to remember the story line at times and what the origin was when first starting out. I'm near the end of the game and haven't even began the Frozen Wilds yet, and the story isn't making a whole lot of sense since I started the game a long time ago. This is perfect to help remember the intent of the missions I'm completing after Maker's End.
Yeah that's one of the nice things about these movies. Even for people who have played it, it presents the story in a more compact format, where you can keep the whole story fresh in your mind. Especially nice for longer games like this.

HZD is my favorite game, and it was so nice to have this so I could share it with my mother. She is 60 years old and has never been into videogames, but she loved the story, and the way you compiled it all had her completely forgetting she was watching a game. She is already planning a trip to come out for your HFW video.

What I find amazing is how some of these video game cut scenes/movies have far better story lines/arcs than what Hollywood has been spewing out the past decade.
I don't know... the 2013 Tomb Raider game had a pretty good plot too. I think.

This game is difficult to play with out hud elements. I played this twice and this movie is some top quality work man..👏👏
I like to use the tap to show HUD function for navigation and leave my reticle on since it doesn't appear when not aiming. You can track your remaining ammo by pulling up the weapon wheel, and the Focus for everything else
I originally had the tap to show HUD option on, but it popped up accidentally in the middle of the Proving when my thumb slipped, so I turned that option off

Too good. I have watched another zero dawn "movie" on youtube but the work you've put in is amazing. Most people will not realize just how much this was needed.
To me, this is amazing. I remember when the "Pong" video game came out LOL. 25 years ago when CGI started getting better, I told my friends that some day there will be entire movies made with computers and they all said I was crazy... Anyway, I just watched the first 15 minutes and now I know what I'm doing with the rest of my Saturday. Phenomenal work, thank you!

Best game I have played since MSG 2, 3 & 4. The story blew me away I completed it 3 times on PS4 and hitting 4 times on PC now. I can't skip anything either it's just to good.

It's a game guide, it's a movie, it's entertaining. This to me is how you make a video game movie from the source material. Ok granted using the ps4 graphics and the game itself but still if adaptations did this kind of thing more often for live action (maybe not quite as long in one sitting). I would happily collect the set over time. Well done!

I'll usually put on the movie version of video games I've finished in the background while I work just to have some noise going on. This is by far the best game "movie" I've ever seen. Masterfully cut! I love how you handle the transitions going from place to place. The sweeping shots with official soundtrack music is mwah! Chef's kiss!

Subtitles took me 15 days of work to type up, but I think it's worth it in the end, especially since they can be translated into other languages (helps a lot getting my video out to other regions)

Very impressed with the quality of editing and reduction in game play without losing the story. This is my favourite game and I think you've done it justice. Having done my fair share of video editing, I have some idea of the time and patience taken to do this. One question for you Andy: what was the reason behind omitting the scenes inside the mountain of Aloy discovering the nursery where she was born and where the other kids were raised?
IIRC, I believe I felt the pacing worked better flowing directly into the next cutscene, and that cutscene gave enough information about what that facility was used for. Those are definitely cool moments to see as the player, but I think the important information about that scene is conveyed without them, and it flows better imo.
Thank you for making and sharing this movie taken from the game. A worth-it entertainment like a real Hollywood movie.

Faiezhar Francesc He is easily the best when it comes to game movies. When I’m looking for a specific one I always check his channel first to see if he’s done it and if he doesn’t than I’ll go find someone else, but even then I know that whichever one I settle on it probably won’t be as good as if Andy had done it.

This is absolutely masterful! I'm playing the game now but started many months ago. It's a VERY LONG game but this movie version is a perfect blend of the gameplay, dialogue and the cut scenes with flawless editing. With all of the quests in the game it's hard to remember the story line at times and what the origin was when first starting out. I'm near the end of the game and haven't even began the Frozen Wilds yet, and the story isn't making a whole lot of sense since I started the game a long time ago. This is perfect to help remember the intent of the missions I'm completing after Maker's End.
Yeah that's one of the nice things about these movies. Even for people who have played it, it presents the story in a more compact format, where you can keep the whole story fresh in your mind. Especially nice for longer games like this.
