    Good information here. Never thought about the rake helping to bring air under the deck. Air pressure in the rear tire is a good tip as well.

    • @ChaseLandMgmt
      @ChaseLandMgmt Рік тому

      Having forward rake also helps reduce the amount of horsepower needed to cut. The grass is being cut on the front end and only being cut one time, rather than twice is the deck is completely level.

    Exmark is the number one choice for Landscapers nationwide, followed by Scag, Toro then JD. I'm just saying, there's a reason for that, Exmark is the best period!

      Bang Tundra: I agree that Exmark is a great zero turn and can even agree that it is the number one choice for Landscapers nationwide, although I have not seen any data to prove this. However, did you know that Exmark is made by Toro? Toro also makes a nearly identical zero turn machine that has the Toro name on it; although the Toro model has better parts (thicker steel, better suspension, higher quality seat, etc.). The Toro machines cost more than the Exmark, and I bet that is why they do not out-sell the Exmark machines!

      Okay, maybe not exactly as hard as concrete but it can be a pain to get off. To the point of having to chisel it off. If you take care of the mower and clean it on a regular basis, it won’t get that bad. It also depends on the kind of soil or other stuff.

    He said to make sure the blades are serviceable. How is that done? What does that even mean? To me. that means that the blades are so old and worn that sharpening them further becomes unsafe. Maybe Exmark's guy has a different opinion.

    Purchasing new 48" EXMARK RADIUS E-SERIES. Undecided as yet on Exmark striping kit. How well will this mower stripe if I opt to not have the kit installed?

    • @ExmarkManufacturing
      @ExmarkManufacturing  3 роки тому +1

      Todd, thanks for hitting us up with your question and welcome to the Exmark family. We’re sure you’re going to love your new Radius.
      Striping is reliant on a few things, airflow (deck), blade sharpness and turf type/quality (probably the most important). As these three factors fluctuate, so will the striping results. Blade sharpness I believe is self-explanatory. Air flow comes from deck rake, which is the angle of the deck…with a 48”, you want the front blade tip an 1/8” to 3/16” lower than the rear blade tip. Turf type/quality, northern season grasses typically stripe much better than southern and along with thick, lush turf, good nitrogen content is instrumental to nice deep stripes. Height of cut can also play a role as well.
      As far as the striping kit, if your grass will stripe, the striping kit will make it stripe and can enhance the stripe. My advice would be, see if it’ll stripe without it (give it a couple mows to let the grass become ‘trained’). If you’re not satisfied with the results, add the kit later…on a scale of 1-10 difficulty, it’s about a 4 to install and requires minimal tools (9/16” wrench, screw driver to install snap-rings).
      I hope this helps, enjoy your new purchase and if you ever have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.

    @kearneydave you obviously have never run more than a few yards a week then. Sure it's not what you want to do but if you are 40 yards behind for one week you don't have the luxury to say "I'll wait till it quits raining" I've been running 78 yards a week for a 5 years and those times have come and when they do I want a mower that can handle it.

      Check your engine oil before mowing every time. Check your air filter too. If the air filter is stopped up it is possible to begin consuming oil. Check hydro oil also. If hydro oil level, cold, is lowering then you need to get it to a shop to be checked out.

    I have designed some pretty expensive hydraulic machines in my career so I looked over many mowers before making a purchase. All of the mowers will cut grass if they didn't no one would buy the mower. Quality of a good mower is smoothness of the hydraulic system. Jerking hydraulics will beat you to death after 8 hrs and that jerk is the difference in mowing up to a rose bush and mowing over it. Exmark and Scagg are far superior to any else on the market. Exmark and most all zero turn mowers have a distinct flaw in the front end that could be easily corrected, I am really surprised no one has corrected this.

    • @Traxxis03
      @Traxxis03 6 років тому +1

      Uh... what is the flaw?

    • @troysmith8725
      @troysmith8725 6 років тому +1

      The flaw is the exposed front wheel axel bolt. Mowing straight line along chain link fence is good but back up and the front wheel spins around and hangs the axel bolt in the fence. Look at any chain link fenced lawn mowed with a zero turn mower and you will see fence damage. Simple fix is to weld half moon 1/4" bar just above the bolt, preventing the bolt from hitting the fence.

    • @tonyanders9098
      @tonyanders9098 6 років тому +3

      My rural property is bounded on one side by a 300' chain link fence(mine) and since my Exmark's deck is far offset to the left side, it's easy to simply mow with the left side of the machine near the fence. I've never had an issue with the front wheel spindles snagging or damaging anything when I turn the mower. Being aware of how you maneuver the machine seems to be the answer.

Good mower but everyone that uses them acts like "OMGZ this is the best mower out there hands down!" This is without even trying an Exmark or using another brand for a good amount of hours. 10 years ago maybe five they were maybe the best but it's 2012 now not 2003.
