*Macy's Wink* That was such a delightful moment when Macy winked at Thorne, indicating to him and the viewer that she knows exactly what's up and she's going to bring Anthony down. The wink is an intimate moment between Macy and Thorne, occurring almost "off stage" and "behind the curtain" and uniting them against Anthony while he remains "onstage" and unaware. And Macy using Anthony's attraction to her at 15:05 to help Thorne escape was a nice touch! In a reply to *Annie's* thread in episode 2013, I wrote how the law has become so perverted in this storyline that Thorne and Macy have to go _outside the law_ to obtain justice. The law failed to protect Macy from Irv, failed to protect Ivana when she called for help, and arrested the wrong man for her murder. So now we have Thorne literally going outside the law (a fugitive on the run) and Macy attempting to deceive Anthony and extract a confession from him rather than relying on the police for help. The Mexican cops showing up too late at the end, when "the show" is already over, is indicative of how the law will need to be sidelined in this storyline until the lovers can sort out the mess and restore justice on their own.
Yes, absolutely! And like I wrote in my "miscommunication" thread, Macy's actions here are a nod to Thorne and Macy's history of constant misunderstandings and things being left unsaid. Macy _knows_ that this is one of those moments that can easily be misunderstood, and she does everything she can, with the very limited options she has in a very dangerous situations, to make sure that Thorne understands her. And yet, he actually _doesn't_ fully understand what she is doing. It is clear from his confused look (and their next meeting) that he doesn't interpret her wink correctly. Since it's Thorne, Macy will have to spell it out for him in crayon.
@@NewYorkNick0607it only strikes me now what an _enormous_ risk Macy took trying to communicate her intentions to _Thorne._ Like playing hide and seek with a toddler who doesn't understand the rules, and if you get found, you 💀.

It wouldn't be so bad if they developed a great friendship, Taylor and Macy could be like sisters (and even when Taylor and Thorne relationship got messed up in a few years, Macy still wasn't fighting with Taylor).

This, of course, is a recipe for tragedy, which is why Macy immediately signals her true intentions to Thorne to prevent any fatal miscommunication (but, like Romeo, Thorne doesn't get the message).
Oh that's such a great comparison to the Romeo & Juliet plot! Thorne and Macy have been compared to R&J from the beginning because of their feuding families but you're so right that this storyline really follows a lot of the story beats of the play. I like your comparison with the Jake storyline/history as well showing that this isn't just a redo with a worse guy, it's actual growth by Thorne and Macy. 👍👍
Taylor is so sneaky I wonder if Eric will be pleased to see her if he finds out that she's been back for months and she knew who she was he will be pleased to see her just like Stephanie was angry he would be upset too😮
*A Storyteller is born* Macy's internal monologue in this episode represents some _major_ character development. This is Macy's first ever *independent, active* attempt at scheming (she has occasionally taken part in other people's schemes, like the Daylight Saving Sally plot for instance, but it has been a "passive participation" where the idea has not been hers). Manipulation and deception don't come naturally to her, and she is not a natural Storyteller or driver of plot (to borrow *Nick's* terminology), but here she is being "pushed into the driver's seat" by extreme circumstances in a life or death situation. She realizes that she has been manipulated by someone she trusted, her childlike naiveté is shattered, she is devastated and horrified, pulls herself together, comes up with a plan, and turns the tables on the manipulator, all within the course of a few minutes. It is an unusual and uncomfortable position for this character to be in, which adds to the tension - we know that Macy is out of her depth in this role, but we are rooting for her to succeed. The show is also subverting the old "knight in shining armor/damsel in distress" trope with Thorne and Macy here. Thorne rushes to Mexico to "rescue" Macy from Anthony, but then the plot takes a sharp turn as Macy *refuses to be rescued* and instead sets out on a mission to rescue *Thorne* and bring Anthony down _herself_ - effectively for cing a reversal of the expected roles. The story as set up in a way to make us believe that the hero/antagonist pair would be Thorne and Anthony, but now we realize that this was a red herring and the actual battle will be between _Macy_ and Anthony. The confrontation between Anthony, Thorne and Macy is clearly a fight for plot control. Anthony has it but pverplays his hand. Thorne is desperately trying to achieve it but ultimately fails. Macy unexpectedly steps in and gr abs it - even explicitly telling the two men "we are doing this my way" and proceeding to give both of them stage directions, controlling the present, as well as reliably narrating past _and future_ events in her mind during the voiceover. Perhaps for the first time, Macy is the Storyteller of her own story, rather than just being a passive victim of the plot.
Love it Annie! As a fan of Macy's it's so refreshing to see her in control of what's going on and outwitting the bad guy. I remember watching this the first time in the 90s and the rush I felt when I realized what she was doing.
Terrific analysis Annie. You outlined beautifully how Macy is taking the reins of the plot. I really like that point about the knight/damsel reversal. Indeed there are a few gender reversals in this storyline. Macy as the savior and Thorne needing saving as you said, but also Anthony is now being placed in the Sheila position (the one she was in with James) as the villain about to be outwitted by their victim. And even someone like Dylan (who was instrumental to this plot) and the way he's sitting here at 4:55 -- it's a s ex y vulnerable pose that usually reserved for beautiful young women. Unlike the traditional male gaze narrative, here instead we're invited into a woman's inner monologue (Macy) a a beautiful young man is being objectified (Dylan).
@@NewYorkNick0607 yes, and this inner monologue also reverses the extreme emphasis on the "traditional male gaze" the other day when Anthony was watching Macy as she was sunbathing. Then, there were closeups of her _faceless body,_ and now this scene ends with a closeup of her _face only,_ as we hear her thoughts. And the way we can actually _see_ her face shift from love to hat red as she thinks "it's about to end" is so subtle yet speaks volumes. It's like her entire face transforms and har dens even though she barely moves a muscle.
@@sharonstewart4882 I know Sharon! It's refreshing, and even empowering, to see a character who has so often had bad things happen to her, or bad things done to her, find her strength and suddenly start _doing_ something about it.

If Macy really wanted to, she could've used this situation to be rid of BOTH of these men. Let Thorne get caught and charged for breaking out of prison and then turn Anthony in for Ivana's murder.
@@NewYorkNick0607 Great point about the gender reversals! 👏
@@sharonstewart4882 I know Sharon! It's refreshing, and even empowering, to see a character who has so often had bad things happen to her, or bad things done to her, find her strength and suddenly start _doing_ something about it.
The police probably got the same training as Lt. Burke. They never covered the back entrance and when they came in, they went out the front door instead of pursuing Thorne from the back.😂

After calling Ridge and her father, Taylor should have called this lawyer next and had the press conference. I'm surprised it's taken this long.
Because Brooke’s attitude is driving Taylor to desperate measures. Taylor is not waiting on Ridge to decide he wants to be with her? Taylor can be just as Aggressive as Brooke when it comes to Ridge. 😝
@@bettyhopson Yes, Taylor can be just as aggressive as Brooke when it comes to Ridge. I guess the same magazines that have written about the newlyweds BRIDGE for months, are now supposed to write about the return of Taylor Forrester. It is kinda funny that Eric is now supposed to set up the press conferences that will announce Taylor Forrester's return but also the fact that Eric's son is now technically a bigamist.
When will they learn, Sally Spectra knows everything! If she says something believe her!!
what will Eric think when he finds out Steph has known all this time?
He won’t care ,but Ohhhhh if he was still with Sheila and she kept it from him ,that would have been all he needed to discard her…Before he ever knew about baby switching and what she was capable of he looked for reasons to get rid of her.

Macy was the wife Thorne never deserved.
Honestly... After what he put her through with Jake, getting thrown in jail for Belief, and living with Karen... I wouldn't have blamed her for throwing him under the bus this time.
Ikr? Always said Macy was too good for him, just like Taylor was too good for Ridge 😒
It was always so frustrating to watch the Forresters look down on Macy when she was actually a better person than them in every way.
If Macy really wanted to, she could've used this situation to be rid of BOTH of these men. Let Thorne get caught and charged for breaking out of prison and then turn Anthony in for Ivana's murder. IRL Thorne would still get a hefty sentence for the jailbreak _despite_ being innocent of the murder charge.

Ridge's son didn't care to inform his dad, Eric's first wife didn't care to inform Eric. But at least Taylor does, now that she needs Eric's help to set up a press conference to announce her return (from "death").
And will Eric tell Taylor that Thorne has escaped from jail? Has she heard that news yet? The Forresters keeping the newspapers busy.
Eric's second wife didn't bother to form him either.
@@andream5998 Not sure if and when these two ever talk. Eric fired Brooke's assistant Sheila, without ever talking to Brooke, the CEO.
Seems strange Macy wants to be left alone with Anthony when she knows he killed Ivana. No person in their right mind would want to be alone with someone like that, even though she knows Anthony won’t hurt her.
I said the same
She doesn't know that Anthony won't hurt her....She has no idea what Anthony is actually capable of really, but unfortunately she will find out ☹️.
It's the only way the truth can come out
Anthony won't hurt her only as long as she keeps up the act convincingly enough. But I think Macy _does_ know that if she slips up, she's dead. She's just so focused on saving Thorne that she's willing to take that risk.
