BREAK DOWN KING LOS LA FREESTYLE PLS !!🔥
Wanted to ask if you or British people call doublet shot from a double barrel 'deuce'? Because it might be triple then
The speak softly and carry a big stick line was teddys not churchill
Really Love watching your Videos. Would be awesome to see you react to "Rosario" by Epik High ft. Zico and CL
The line where Churchill said “ I might be battling you even though I’m toasted, but tomorrow I’ll be sober and you’ll still be roasted” was a quote when Churchill told a woman, criticizing his drinking habits, “My dear you are ugly, but tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be ugly”
My favorite Winston lines are :
Last Astor :"Winston, if you were my husband I would put poison in your coffee"
Winston :"Madame, if you were my wife....I'd drink it"
Lady Astor "Thete are 2 things about you I can't stand. Your politics and your mustache"
Winston :"Rest easy madame, you are unlikely to come in contact with either"
I thought it was "but i will be sober in the morning". Either way he was brutal ^^
This is one of my favorite stories of Churchill... he's a savage lolol.
@@RLKmedic0315 Brilliant
I was looking for this comment
A weird story: When war broke out in 1914, Roosevelt volunteered to fight even though he was a former president and was 56 at the time. Sitting President Woodrow Wilson actually butted in and personally denied Roosevelt's re-enlistment. To be fair though, Wilson had a habit of butting in. When Roosevelt died, the sitting Vice President was quoted to have said "Death had to come for him in his sleep; If he had been awake, there would have been a fight."
That line about death coming for him in his sleep has to be one of the most badass quotes I've ever heard.
@@MrStrikecentral It's so badass it's the base for a lot of lines about badasses that die in their sleep. Like a story about a beloved wolfdog who died in her sleep.
"Had death come for her when she was awake, she would have made his scythe a chew toy"
Roosevelt didn't just try to sign up as a soldier. he had personally sent letters out and recruited an entire division of troops that he wanted added to the US army and sent to France immediately. It's lucky Wilson didn't go along with it... a bunch of undisciplined cowboys worked fine against spain, but they'd have gotten ruined on the Western Front.
That’s fucking awesome lol
there are so many reasons woodrow wilson was a terrible person that they could make a planet larger than earth
and I just realized winston's line about a teddy bear fighting a bull dog has extra depth since he IS a Bull… a Dan Bull
Ah that’s right! See I didn’t know it was Dan Bull till the end but going back now that makes sense 🙌
@@KnoxHill I think there was a story about a stuffed toy bear for Roosevelt's niece or something getting the name Theodore Bear in his honor, nicknamed Teddy, then all similar bears got the same nickname?
@@AlexanderAzarov the teddy bear plushie is called like this because of Theodore Roosevelt cause while he went bear hunting during a trip (i think?) he refused to shoot a bear cub, so people starting calling bear plushies teddy bears cause of that event plus teddy was Roosevelt’s nickname
Bully was probably also a reference to Dan Bull’s name
It Also could be a reference to an old wrestler called british bulldog if I remember
Teddy Roosevelt pointing at the would-be assassin is the most gangster shit I've ever seen in my life. He 1000% won.
as an American i am obligated to agree that he won. but Churchill was bad ass to.
You don't win battles based off of pointing, you win them off your raps.
@@thatcooldudeisawesome876 nahhh wowwww no way brooooo, is that how it works? 🤯🤯🤯
@@Cipher71 Yes dibshit about time you learned.
@@thatcooldudeisawesome876I had no idea, no way bro
"Kiss my cousin's ass." Don't forget Teddy's cousin was Franklin D. Roosevelt, president during WWII.
Teddy Bear: Teddy Roosevelt was bear hunting (see edit below...it wasn't Louisiana as I said earlier). Some people he was hunting with trapped a bear, giving Roosevelt "an easy shot" so he could go home with a kill. He refused it & told them to let the bear go. That is how the term "teddy bear" came into being.
EDIT: TIL the story about Roosevelt's bear hunt story did not take place in Louisiana. It actually took place in Smedes, MS.-
Exactly! This is the best Epic Rap Battles of History- two heavy hitting GOATS battling it out has been wonderful to watch!
He also hated being called Teddy.
@@Kosh800 I didn't know that. I wouldn't have thought that anyone back then would have used that name with him.
FDR wasn't his actual cousin, but they were called "cousins" for reasons I don't know.
@@meganlodon they were 5th cousins, so they actually were cousins. FDRs wife was Teddy Roosevelt's niece.
Whenever ERB had an announcement to make, they would have roosevelt do the video, and his catchphrase was yelling "WHAT'S UP BITCHES??".
Really?! Haha now that makes that line even more dope
That was in the older times... Early seasons... And of course, they had to put that in the video... I think the fans woulda rioted if they didn't.
@@Kuronosa Yeah this is why his mouth moves like that when he says it and he makes that face because they were doing stop-motion on a picture of Roosevelt with that same expression.
Yeah it's a classic, so glad they put it in the ERB even though so many people wouldn't get it, a nice injoke for the OGs xD
I screamed when I saw that the first time. I was so happy that they included it
The "kiss my cousin's ass" line was NOT a reference to the US and UK being like "cousins". It was a reference to Teddy's own cousin, FDR.
It was probably both.
I think Roosevelt and Churchill were actually distantly related too, Churchill's mom was a Vanderbilt (a lot of rich American heiress married English Aristocracy for a title, and the English needed the $ to keep up their estates). Churchill was also a distant cousin to Gen. McArthur.
+
Also, Roosevelt's "I love competition" line is probably a reference to the anti-monopoly legislation you mentioned. Back then it was called trust-busting; trust funds are technically something else. It's clever of ERB to tie them together, though.
Trust yeah I knew that trust busting
I was wondering if anyone else caught that.
Its a multilayered line since he also enjoyed competition hunting
@@Top_Hat_Walrus Excellent point!
@@Top_Hat_Walrus There's another layer to that. He liked boxing.
When Teddy says “Keep calm and kiss my cousins ass” he’s referencing FDR who’s often called a “cousin” of Teddy (he was actually his uncle in law) and obviously FDR led America during WWII
They were also 5th cousins
They were indeed cousins
They were both. He was FDR's cousin, and he was Eleanor Roosevelt's uncle (her father's brother), making him FDR's uncle in law.
Ah, I was so focused on the more abstract one with the colloquial ‘cousins of the Brits’ I didn’t think the obvious with FDR..another one of my favorite presidents
@@KnoxHill I saw it the same way. In fact, in the War of 1812 British soldiers' favorite disparaging nickname for Americans was "Cousin Jonathan".
Do “Alexander the Great vs Ivan the Terrible” and “Thomas Jefferson vs Fredrick Douglass” please
Wait why would Jefferson battle Douglass
Yes! I was just typing this comment.
@@jacksonperez5615 Because Jefferson was well...a hypocrite. He spoke out about slavery and yes banned the sale of NEW slaves in Virginia but not only still kept his own slaves, but had six children with one of his slaves (Sally Hemmings) and never freed her. In fact all six of their children were slaves. Two ran away, and Jefferson freed the others in his will. Jefferson's legitimate daughter, Martha Randolph, gave the now elderly Sally an 'informal freedom' meaning she was still technically a slave, she was just allowed to retire and live out the last 9 years of her life with two of her sons. So while he did some good, in the end he refused to lead by example. And as Fredrick Douglass said in the rap, "You let freedom ring but never picked up the phone."
The Jefferson one isn’t that good in the second half.
I see a lot of Alexander vs Ivan every vid. Definitely near the top of my list and you know I love my military history 🙌
Fun fact: Churchill's speech wasn't made over the radio, it was made in person and transcribed to the papers for the next day. After the war, Churchill only produced an audio recording in 1949.
*Edit. Fun fact no. 2: Theodore wasn't named after a teddy bear in any way shape or form. They were named after him, as people commonly called him Teddy. Which he hated. So Winston calling him Teddy Bear is also playing on the fact that Teddy *hates* being called that. The toy was so called for the bear he refused to kill on a hunting trip when his party tied a cornered one to a tree for him to shoot.
Yeah. He didnt shoot it because he thought it was unsportsmanlike.
@@alexgutierrez4125he wanted to give the bear a chance to run away
With the "You should be ashamed of your military honor" line: Winston was given his first position in the navy because of his family titles, not by earning it.
Teddy's dad was slated to be drafted into the Civil War but bought his way out of it (you could pay for someone else to take your place in the draft) to take care of the sick baby Teddy. His dad regretted it till the day he died, so when Teddy heard that the spanish American war was about to happen he quit his navy job to go join the rough riders. When WW1 started Teddy (already an ex-president) was told that he wasn't allowed to go to war, so he forced all three of his sons to go.
The "I'd put you in a pram so you van throw your toys out" line: Teddy wasn't 100% mentally stable and could throw some raging tantrums. As a teenager when his dad died, Teddy shot the neighbors dog because it barked at him, that same week he nearly beat his horse to death... Teddy learned to use physical exercise to keep his mind disciplined and to keep his body busy so his mind wouldn't slip into those dark places.
That’s a perspective I’ve never seen of Roosevelt, thank you.
That line about the battling while toasted is a reference to an interview Churchill had with a reporter. She was ragging on him being drunk all the time and he said basically, "I might be talking to you while I'm toasted but tomorrow I'll be sober, and you'll still be ugly." lol.
you would be correct 😊
@@brothersgt.grauwolff6716 except it wasn't a reporter it was a member of parliament he was debating... which makes it all the more savage
From what i know, it went like this:
Lady: you're drunk
Winston: i may be drunk, but you're ugly, and tomorrow i'll be sober, but you'll still be ugly.
WC was a savage, but Teddy won this hands down. That Pearl Harbor bar was so vicious, it knocked Winston outta the ring.
Lol Churchill was a savage
@@colonelilbrink8544 It was about as vicious as a wet fart in an empty room considering that we had already won the Battle of Britain before the USA had even entered the war.
I'm not trying to come off like an asshole but what is it with the average American and their knowledge of history, or lack thereof? The USA absolutely helped and most definitely helped speed things along but you didn't save us, even if our RAF had been defeated, Operation Sea Lion was never going to succeed, it was doomed to fail from the very beginning. It's not a joke and it never will be, it's always been the most egregious display of ignorance and insult to all the brave heroes from our own population, our Empire and all the volunteers that fled to our Isles from around the world that looked evil in the face and fought to keep democracy alive in Europe.
Dan Bulls far cry primal rap is what I would suggest because of how lyrically different from anything else I've ever watched. please
Thou I agree, his Civilization is much better
Dan bull yes! Also his dishonored rap, the years of gaming rap, his resident evil rap, oh man dan bull has so much good shit!
Civilization is a really good one too
Ya the far cry, civilization, and the cre raps are sooo under rated I feel haha don't get enough love haha
100% agreed. The Civ rap and the Far Cry Primal raps are staggeringly good.
Fun fact: The "what's up bitches" line is an inside reference to their erb news videos, which feature Teddy Roosevelt.
you misinterprited the "keep calm and kiss my cousins ass" line, it Is actually specifically referring to the fact that TR and FDR are distant cousins, and FDR was the WW2 president
I maintain that "World War too soon" is one of the most underrated bars in ERB. In context it's like a triple meaning; on top of just being a flex it's also a dismissal, *and* it's a rebuttal to the "while you were back home opening national park" bar. How you put three bars in one bar, while the bar is just the icing on the cake to your "your parents ditched you" rebuttal, but you stuffed in another two rebuttals and a flex anyway.......?
Teddy Roosevelt is someone that more Americans need to know more about. For one, he's the type of President and Politician that both sides should be able to get behind. Also, the man lived more life in 60 years than most could if they had 300 years. An absolute legend of a human.
When Roosevelt mentions that he likes competition, it is probably a reference to the fact that he was breaking up monopolies.
I like how you actually have a bit of a historical understanding of these people instead of being clueless on half the bars like almost every other reaction channel
Seeing his other videos, either he just has insane historical and pop culture knowledge, or he looks up the lyrics beforehand and reacts as if he’s never heard them. However, if that is the case, I still respect it more than the other leeches who just steal ERB’s content. At least this guy transforms the original content.
Roosevelt's line: "A bullet can't stop a bull moose!" was referring to when he was shot, yes, but also his political party had been nicknamed the "Bull Moose Party"
I actually didn’t know about the Bull Moose thing, I figured it was a reference to something but didn’t know what until now. Thanks.
@@nickkontozoglus4771 I believe the story is that after he lost to Woodrow Wilson (Roosevelt ran third party) in the 1912 election, a reporter asked him how he felt and he responded "I feel as strong as a bull moose"
Teddy was one of the most badass men to ever live, and yet was the reason we have Teddy bears. That's impressive.
And he also claims to had an encounter with a Bigfoot type creature.
Maybe, but Churchill actively went to the front lines as PM, was shot at and arti'd. Plus he fought in the Boer Wars, Afghan and Iraq. But yeah going around shooting animals is pretty badass and his Cav regiment in the Spanish-American War.
@@tarkathebiker Teddy faught in the Spanish amircan War. And tracked down thives in the rest and brought them back. He's down alot of things like that. They both badass tbh
@@tarkathebiker Took a bullet to the chest, and then proceeded to give a 90 minute and insulted the shooter. "It takes more than a bullet, to takedown a bull moose."
@@tarkathebiker
Churchill was just as worse as Hitler. Left millions of Indians to die in India during the Bengal Famine.
Actually, the “fight them on the beaches”, speech was made after the Dunkirk evacuation was completed, not after the battle of britain. The battle of britain came after the Dunkirk evacuation.
Churchill's last bar of his first verse:
Churchill was once accused of being too drunk in the presence of london "high society", and his response was "yes ma'am I am drunk, but in the morning I will be sober, and you'll still be ugly!"
(Probably just an apocryphal story but it's great)
Best flow: churchill
Best disses: roosevelt
Winner: not hitler
For the record, I took this comment straight out of a comment in the original video
Thats actually a banger of a comment
thank you for your honesty
Mihawk ma boy, tell me who is your dentist...he did amazing job
I’d say that’s a fair analysis lol
Best: United States Secret Service
Please do Romeo and Juliet vs Bonnie and Clyde, it has some of the most savage lines ever! And has a lot of history things that most reactors miss!
Agreed.
Agreed.
Agreed.
Agreed.
That wwill be like 50 min video...i don't understand reactors like that..he is not reactor tho but commentator...he shouldn't put "reactuon" in the title cuz t is not.
It is commentary
I just realized something about Rosevelt’s opening lines, “I love competition” is surface level, the hunting line, but it’s also a reference to anti-monopoly policy, and also a small admittance of respect, basically saying “you might be able to give me a challenge”
If I remember correctly Churchill was actually fired because of Gallipoli and had to restart his career from the front lines
Edit: the name teddy bear happened came about by Theodore saving a bear or something
Rasputin v Stalin is probably my favorite
All the Russian ones are. I love Ivan the terrible too! Stalins lines are the most brutal erb ever
Seen a lot of recommendations for this one. Thanks for supporting!
Absolutely, the extra character raps are always good.
I love how both of them are going straight at each other, not letting these others get to them, and they get right up against each other faces, showing the type of people they are.
Easily my favourite battle:
Great beat, classic Britain VS USA matchup, two legends, actually a rap battle of HISTORY, deadly lines, great research clearly done, great VFX and costumes… just… yes. ✌🏼
It's also one of the most evenly matched battles, but I agree that TR won... Barely. Some of Churchill's rhymes seemed forced.
This is easily one of, if not my favorite battles of ERB. Both parties are amazingly strong in character and bars. Though I do think that most American reactors tend to give the win to Teddy after the bullet, and sadly that isn't a wining line for me. A lot of people look over the second part of "If a bullet to the chest won't stop you, my words will.", at least to me a lot of people seem to not realize the character that builds for both sides. Teddy shrugs off the bullet, it's damn impressive, but Churchill also directly says that he has more confidence in his words than an actual bullet (while directly putting it in the context of said historic event).
Personally (as neither American nor British) I see it as a draw. Both are extremely close, both have great flows, absolute bombs of lines and they show the full charisma that made them the leaders they're known for. Combine that with how the rap battle specifically ends with both declaring they would never admit defeat and it's also the perfect ending to it for me.
Also, love the reaction and the commentary with your explanations of how your think about the references and just the lines overall.
As an American, Roosevelt won because the tram line is weak to me.
Roosevelt had more time, and I think if Churchill second verse was a tad longer it would be a tie.
Honestly, we are the winners, the battle is so close and one of my favorite to watch.
Agreed
The "tomorrow I'll be sober but you still be roasted" is a reference (if I'm not mistaken) when a woman was making fun of Winston's alcoholism, he answer her with: "My dear you are ugly, but tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be ugly" 🤣.
P.s. besides "Pennywise vs. Joker" you need to check "Marilyn Monroe Vs. Cleopatra".
I've seen plenty of "reaction" videos to this song, but this has been by far the best. Having someone who actually knows the history behind the people and can still fully appreciate the lines is very rare. Thank you for making this video; you have earned the subscription. Looking forward to seeing your other work.
Damn Knox you know your history! I’m a history buff and was shocked all the knowledge you broke out! Major props
"keep calm and kiss my cousin's ass" is a reference to the fact that FDR was TR's cousin. One of my favorite ERBs is Thomas Edison Vs Nikola Tesla
Do Jack the Ripper vs Hannibal Lecter! It's insane"
It has Dan bull as well I believe.
That one is underrated
I absolutely hope he does this eventually, it's such an interesting one
Best beat that ERB have used.
OJ Simpson
A very nice double with the "kiss my cousin's ass" line was that FDR was president at the same time Churchill was PM. So following up the Pearl Harbor line, Teddy's saying Churchill not only owes the US, but owes Teddy's own family for helping them in WW2.
When “Teddy says kiss my cousins ***” it also referres to FDR since he married his far distant cousin and FDR was the American president during World War 2
Sweet, been waiting for you to check out Dan Bull.
I would love for you to analyze more of Dan Bull. He does insane technical stuff.
Fallout 4 rap, Civilization Rap, Dan Bull raps with homophones instead of rhymes
Ai'ght, since Pennywise vs Joker is already noted, I would like to propose James Bond vs Austin Powers.
I like how at the end, in the last exchange between them, during Roosevelt's lines there's a lightning flash in the background and you can see the silhouettes of the Rough Riders, and then during Churchill's lines there's another flash that silhouettes the paratroopers. Such a cool detail.
I'm always amazed by Knox' history knowledge. Bravo.

Whenever I hear the name Teddy Roosevelt I automatically picture Robin Williams as Roosevelt now. I watched that movie too much as a kid xD
It’s absolutely so amazing and wholesome to see an American understand our English history! Mad respect for you Knox! Hugs from the UK 🇬🇧 fella!!!!
I cannot recommend Julius Ceasar Vs Shake Zulu enough. It gets stuck in my head sometimes, and has some rough and racey bars.
At the end or Roosevelt’s line when he says “and kiss my cousins ass” is a reference to his literal cousin FDR and how he’s the one that helped them in the war literally so they owe his cousin it was a double lol
It's funny because Theodore Roosevelt actually hated to be called Teddy
Actually, the Teddy bear was named after Roosevelt and as for the bulldog reference, bulldogs were once called “Churchill dogs”
I was not expecting anyone on YT who breaks down these ERB bars to bring up Upton Sinclair....dude, its awesome watching someone who is as 'nerdy' as I am. Keep it. Please find more of the more historical battles ERB has done and break em down for us. You rock.
"Bully! A challenge!" Dan Bull is Winston XD
I'd highly recommend reacting to some of Dan Bull's videos, it mostly gaming related but he's great with lyricism. I'd suggest his civilization rap, or far cry primal. His dishonored raps and his fallout 4 rap also have great alliteration.
Dude, watching you come up with the Gallipoli information, just ripping that knowledge out of your memory, was super satisfying. Good shit sir.

If there was ever an ERB that needed a rematch it would be this one. Roosevelt and Churchill both had some hard bars and the historical references were fantastic in this one. One of my favorites. The only ERB I think I could call as a draw.

I am honestly surprised each time with how much you know about History, Fandoms, Philosophy, etc...
I love your Rap breakdowns. It's like a master class in poetry.
If you ever want an ERB reaction video to take 40+ minutes because there's so much to analyze, try Alexander the Great vs. Ivan the Terrible. Loads of history, some killer bars and doubles/triples. Just overall one of the best ERB videos ever, imo.
Instead of “ruled” say “governed”
Only recently started watching you but I am impressed with the amount of effort you put into your videos. And now I watch them as soon as they come out
Theodore was the coolest president America had. He was an absolute beast. I also see Brittain more as America's old father instead of cousin.

Dan Bull is fantastic. It's an old one but you should react to his Civilization Rap if you haven't heard that one yet.
i like watching you because you are incredibly knowledgeable on top of entertaining and you just really know the craft. much respect.
Roosevelt: “Where would I mount the stuffed head of a Winston?”

Really love this series! Intelligent lyrics are what makes these rap battles epic!
I am pretty sure this isn't your favourite type of music, but there is a swedish power metal band called "Sabaton" that covers war history in their songs. As a history crack you should definitely give it a shot!
Love your energy on these man. Good stuff. Love the history tied in. Now I wanna see you go feature on ERBH 😂 not sure who you'd be best acting as though
I love listening to your history lessons as much as I do your breakdowns. You're awesome! As is your music.
I really appreciate that your reaction videos are actually about your reaction and analysis! So many "react" videos just have someone watch the video, and not really add anything.
Hey man, I'd love for you to breakdown some stuff by The Stupendium, he does absolute QUALITY videos.
I second this. Stupendium has the best lyrics, in my opinion.
'The House Always Wins' is such an amazing song, if you've ever played Fallout: New Vegas.
SO MANY GOOD LINES.
Yoo Knox, good breakdown! But one thing everyone seems to miss, one of Winston's hardest lines imo! «tomorrow i'll be sober and you'll still be roasted» is a play off of a conversation WC had with a lady who complained he was drinking too much, to which he replied along the lines of «well tomorrow i'll be sober, and you'll still be ugly» dude was a savage 😂
Yo just found your channel and checking out these reactions man. Brilliant stuff.
Im here for these. Though personally there is too much explaining stuff that i feel is obvious but i know that some people genuinely dont know about some of this stuff so i do appreciate you connecting the dots for others
The biggest flex Winston has over Teddy is that Teddy lived untill 70 with his healthy lifestyle while chain smoking obese and alcoholic Winston lived untill 95
In all fairness Theodore Roosevelt was literally shot in the Chest
Well, the spite (an English specialty) helps too.
Jack The Ripper vs Hannibal Lecter is probably one of the best! Great flow and disses

The "Kiss my cousins ass" line is actually more of a reference to FDR. He and Teddy were second cousins i believe
Teddy Roosevelt was his uncle in law :]
I LOVE BARS, I LOVE HISTORY AND I LOVE YOUR BREAKDOWNS.... THIS IS PERFECT! PLUS YOUR HISTORY KNOWLEDGE... ON POINT!
Last 10-15 seconds of the Rap Battle, watch the background. When TR is speaking, it shows Rough Riders on horseback. When WC speaks, it changes to WW2 paratroopers.
Knox wins this one with the best dad joke: that's remarkable. 🤣🤣
Bro I was scrolling the comments to see if someone caught that
They need a Part 2 for this.
I only recently started watching your videos, and im now subscribed because of all the reactions to erb ive seen, and music in general you combine the musical breakdown side which ive seen a lot of people do well, with a general historical knowledge ive only seen in non musical reactors who are specialized in actual history reactions, having these two combined(youre the only music reactor ive seen that got the isthmus line as well as the pinz nez) is awesome, please react to more of the erbs.
Knox !!!!!! You have opened a huge box here. Now we MUST hear that story you teased !!
