      Yes and no. He's suspected of killing closer to seven, but the first two victims weren't mentioned by "Jack the Ripper" letters like the others, so they remain a point of debate amongst "Ripperologists" (real word) whether or not to include them as the first true Ripper victims. Experts contest the fact that the real reason they weren't mentioned was due to the fact that "Jack" never sent letters until the media dubbed him "the White Chapel Ripper" (hence where the 'Jack The Ripper' name came from).

      Professional police were also a pretty new concept at the time. It's easy to look back from the 21st century and wonder how they could be so incompetent, but they were actually quite effective at what they set out to do, drastically reducing London's completely out of control violent crime. Prior to this, policing was usually handled by the military, going back to the middle ages. It was during this time that London was trying to put together the first dedicated, professional, civilian police force in the world through trial and error. Extra Credits has a good series of videos about it

      @@michealdrake3421 would just like to put this here since you said Professional police were a pretty new concept at the time... "In ancient Egypt evidence of law enforcement exists as far back as the Old Kingdom period. There are records of an office known as "Judge Commandant of the Police" dating to the fourth dynasty.[16] During the fifth dynasty at the end of the Old Kingdom period, officers armed with wooden sticks were tasked with guarding public places such as markets, temples, and parks, and apprehending criminals. They are known to have made use of trained monkeys, baboons, and dogs in guard duties and catching criminals. After the Old Kingdom collapsed, ushering in the First Intermediate Period, it is thought that the same model applied. During this period, Bedouins were hired to guard the borders and protect trade caravans. During the Middle Kingdom period, a professional police force was created with a specific focus on enforcing the law, as opposed to the previous informal arrangement of using warriors as police. The police force was further reformed during the New Kingdom period. Police officers served as interrogators, prosecutors, and court bailiffs, and were responsible for administering punishments handed down by judges. In addition, there were special units of police officers trained as priests who were responsible for guarding temples and tombs and preventing inappropriate behavior at festivals or improper observation of religious rites during services. Other police units were tasked with guarding caravans, guarding border crossings, protecting royal necropolises, guarding slaves at work or during transport, patrolling the Nile River, and guarding administrative buildings. By the Eighteenth Dynasty of the New Kingdom period, an elite desert-ranger police force called the Medjay was used to protect valuable areas, especially areas of pharaonic interest like capital cities, royal cemeteries, and the borders of Egypt. Though they are best known for their protection of the royal palaces and tombs in Thebes and the surrounding areas, the Medjay were used throughout Upper and Lower Egypt. Each regional unit had its own captain. The police forces of ancient Egypt did not guard rural communities, which often took care of their own judicial problems by appealing to village elders, but many of them had a constable to enforce state laws." this took me 2 seconds to find; and china,japan,greece,rome,babylonia,france,spain,... etc. All have evidence of actual police forces, whether military or civilian. Example with Babylonia, they used people with military backgrounds or similar training for their police forces, although they were technically civilians.

    The guys at ERB write these with entertainment in mind. They write them as a scripted whole, its not an actual rap battle in the strictest sense, but more of a "if they were to battle rap, we would hope to see/ expect to see something like this." So often they set up lines for the other side, or a side they prefer, to play off of each other and make certain lines hit harder. They do a ton of research for each of these though. You should watch some of the behind the scenes for these sometime, they're pretty interesting.

Specifically, patients on this medication couldn't have beans, red wine, or liver, among other things. The analysis was great, you picked on way more small details than me and I enjoyed your reactions a lot too.
    But my big problem with this is that you don't only pause mid-verse, you pause mid-bar.
    I was pretty disappointed that you didn't get to enjoy the whole "I'm the bon vivant of violence, a licensed psychiatrist who dines on highest society to the sound of violins" at once. (That bar is frickin' poetic)
    It's your video and your choice obviously, but I wish you waited till the bars are over before pausing and breaking them down.
    Anyway, props for all the small details nobody else caught but deserve to be noticed. Keep it up

    • @shadowproductions969
      @shadowproductions969 3 роки тому

      The key to a good show is having a clear vision for the direction of the story, beginning to end. Game of thrones did up until the last couple seasons when HBO started making up their own stuff.. the last book wasn't out yet so they created the story.. in reality that show needed about 3 more seasons for the ending to work, especially with Daenerys.. that was too big of a psyche jump to go from hopeful and peace seeking to burn everyone.
      Dexter was also wrapped up too fast and the ending felt rushed and poorly thought out.
      The show Supernatural was originally planned for 5 seasons and the progression was great.. after that the stories felt drawn out and forced, still good, but not as well planned out.
      Breaking Bad is a prime example of how to do a show as all 5 seasons were planned out with the beginning and end and there was no filler.
