Pride caused me to miss out on countless opportunities in my life. Many times in the past, a career opportunity would present itself to me, but if it wasn't at a certain level, I would take a hard pass. I did this over and over, until there were no more opportunities. Then, I had nothing. Eventually, I realized that I had to go down to go up. I ended up doing something mediocre, excelled at it, and rose to the level I wanted to be at initially. Sometimes, you have to take a circuitous route in life.

People also abuse their authority that they may carry just to make a point. These people believe they are higher than you, higher than god. Step back. Let them flex. The most high will make sure they receive what they put out. Only the most high can make these narcs fall from grace. They can never take what they dish out. Developing a healthy sense of pride can be a challenging task, especially in the context of capitalism, which often values material possessions and external markers of success above personal qualities and character. Here are a few ideas for cultivating a healthy sense of pride:
-Focus on personal growth and self-improvement: One way to feel proud of oneself is to set goals and work towards achieving them, whether they be related to personal development, career advancement, or hobbies and interests. By putting in effort to become the best version of oneself, it is possible to feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in one's own progress and achievements.
-Celebrate your uniqueness: Instead of comparing oneself to others and striving for perfection, try to embrace and celebrate your own unique qualities and talents. Recognizing the things that make you special can help you feel proud of who you are and build self-confidence.
-Practice gratitude: Focusing on the things you are thankful for, rather than what you lack, can help you appreciate the good things in your life and feel proud of your accomplishments.
-Find ways to give back: Giving back to your community or helping others can be a great way to feel a sense of pride and purpose. Volunteer work, charitable giving, or simply lending a helping hand to a friend or family member can all contribute to a sense of pride in oneself and one's own abilities.
-Seek out positive role models: Surrounding oneself with people who embody the values and qualities that you admire can be a great source of inspiration and help you feel proud of the person you are becoming.
Overall, it is important for capitalists to strike a balance between maximizing profits and operating in a responsible and ethical manner, taking into account the needs and well-being of all stakeholders.

In my opinion, pride is the root cause of the civilizational collapse we are currently experiencing in the West. It all started with the individual becoming less and less relevant for society and for itself. The Industrial and Technology Revolutions brought us a lot of well-being but we've lost our humility and with it, our souls. Knowing this deep inside, the individual tried to remain relevant and how can you do that if not by comparing yourself to others. We are living in a huge epidemic of narcissism with millions if not billions of people posting their perfect lives on social media. "Look at me, I'm better than you, give me your like". In a matter of 4-5 decades, society started to collapse and in 2020 the real implosion started. The mass formation would not have been possible without pride. All the virtue signallers save grandma who asked for more harsh measures and more dehumanizing restrictions. The vast majority of humans traded being human o signal pride. We traded everything that makes us humans for the pride of showing others how virtuous we are, how we believe in progress and science and we are good citizens that deserve to be cherished. No wonder the "rewards" for taking the poke in the arm were related to those 7 sins: food, badges of honor, access to the concerts and so on. I truly believe it is PRIDE which brought us where we are and PRIDE will be humanity's downfall just it was Lucifer's downfall.

Some amount of pride is important. If you have no pride, you will allow yourself to be trampled upon, your feelings overlooked, and your family disenfranchised. Some pride is necessary for one to have confidence. However, our pride must not exceed or humility. We must be able to acknowledge how far we have come, while remaining grateful for our opportunities, and humble in our realisation that it can be taken away from us. We must not be complacent, or believe that we deserve what we have been given.

A lot of people in my life have treated me badly, for what I believe to be without cause.
This has made me struggle with pride, I do not think highly of their behavior and it sometimes has made me feel like I am being persecuted for representing some sort of reality they feel threatened by or do not want to accept.
I struggle with dark thoughts not of wanting to harm them, but yes I admit sometimes I would like to humiliate them with the reality of what they have done.
I also struggle with the idea that the only way to make it stop is for them to see me as a threat that will fight back, instead of a peaceful one.

I have a hunch that the essence of pride is the denial of death, feeling that I can grow, accumulate, hold on to things indefinitely. If I clearly see the object of my pride, whether it be my body, my mind, my wealth, etc, nearing complete and inevitable destruction, how can I possibly delight in it in a prideful way? It's like we are all drowning, but you are wearing sweatpants and I'm wearing a tuxedo, so that should make me better somehow. I guess I win at one of many imaginary games we play, but that doesn't shield me from reality, I'll die just the same.

My theory is that the essence of pride is the human need for hierarchy. Hierarchy is a trait of many social animals. It feels good to be on top of the hierarchy, it gives you privileges and esteem. To be a loser, low in rank, feels awful. Everybody wants to be at least in the middle. It is a ceaseless competition. Nowadays, money is the main currency that translates into hierarchical status. Even countries compete, as we know. Wars, economic rankings etc. Yes, death is a problem. But humanity found a solution. We can give an inheritance to our children. Hence such accumulated wealth, hence we invented nobility. etc.

"Pride has no definition, since it's erry bad thing at once. No language can define it. It's hard for us to describe it"
It's as if reality itself is denying its existence down to the smallest thing, yet it persists anyways within us
It's like climbing up a wall, but erry rock it grabs onto falls out. The only purpose the Proud serve, is to drag as many others as possible down with them
Pride is like an invasive species, not just from another world, but from another reality entirely. Not in a multiverse-sense, either
More like an 'Un-Reality'. A reverse reality, where non-existence can exist. A mirror. The upside down? Something that just shouldn't exist in our own reality, but does anyways, slowly seeping thru.. Edit: Hell??
IDK how else to put it.. But that's how it feels to me. It's not meant to exist and I can't stress that emotionless text/sentence enough
Edit: I just remembered something I was told about the laws. In order for fallen angels (demons) to continue to exist, they must be accepted by Man.. "It persists anyways" bcuz of Man. Is this what that means?? "Pride cannot be defined, only realized"

Have a superior virtue is more admirable, it is harder to accomplish than skills and abilities which is mere practice plus Talent. And it is truly beneficial to other people, although a noble character may not be recognizable to the untrained eye. Whereas skills alone doesn't mean one will benefit other people, skill without virtue may even be detrimental to others. So I think material/external things should not be the standard to evaluate others.

I feel something that i think is pride, but is that a good form of pride? I feel it sort of marrs the moment and I cringe. But maybe at some point, especially if you have a life to live an people who need you, you have to give up the ideal and cede a little to pragmatism. You have to keep pride in perspective I guess, in check, and pray to be able to do good deeds and not feel proud for them, for doing the right thing to be your essence. But i guess when your mired in a lot of sin it might be useful to cautiously use pride to start to do the right things.

When you care very little about what others think about you, the act of bringing one down from it’s pedestal of lies is not about wanting to feel better about yourself. It’s about defending yourself from someone else believing to be above you, acting on that self absorbed conviction.

Having good self esteem protects a person from allowing themselves from being abused. If one has no self esteem...they are easily beaten down, & susceptible to abuse from others, self abuse, & an ineffective life. 3 things all children should be given freely is...1) Acceptance...i.e. unconditional love. I love you as you are. 2)Validation...acknowledging effort, or accomplishment. A pat on the back for positive actions. 3) Encouragement...What do you want to do with your life ? I will help you get there. One needs to be able to carry ones self confidently...be a leader, not a follower. I was abused as a child. I was stripped of my self worth. I almost died from self abuse from having not been assigned any value. I put myself in dangerous situations, & could have had my life taken. I worked very hard, & took pride in my work, which gave me my self esteem back, which stopped the self abuse, & gave me value as a human being. I stopped following, & stand up for myself, & others. This has literally saved my life from becoming an addict, a victim. ..& dead from murder, or suicide. To have no value...sets one up for failure, waste, & an early death. I don't put myself above, or below anyone now...except for that which created me, & nurtured me. MY GREATFUL THANKS TO THE GREAT MYSTERY, I.E. GOD, ( WHO AM I TO DEFINE GOD? & THE GREAT MOTHER EARTH FOR MY CREATION, & SUSTENANCE. I AM A CHILD OF THE UNIVERSE, NO LESS THAN THE TREES & THE STARS. ..I HAVE A RIGHT TO BE....HERE.

Personal pride, in whatever form, has proven to result in disagreeable outcomes in my life. Having said that, I have found that pride in others seems to be at least neutral or positive. When I watch someone who I’ve helped train, do well, or a grandchild that excels in a contest, I feel a sense of pride directed at them. It’s a very interesting area.

"Pride" meant in an allegedly positive way indeed leads to ignoring of external contributions to achievement. When a father is proud of his son's school performance or even of him having shown an act of civil courage, saying one is proud of that is spiritually detrimental, and a better way to frame it is to say "I am happy with how things turned out". Pride strongly emphasizes the mind, whereas happiness is heart-open and innocent. - Stereotyping of expecting men to be tough contributed to a fear of expressing happiness, and so it is twisted into pride.

Sins are also called as "trespasses." It is an image that you are allowed to live in a certain area, but if you go beyond that area, then you commit a "trespass" or a sin. You are allowed to be proud of accomplishments that you worked for, but if you have too much of it and say that you did it all alone without the help of external sources, then that's when you commit a "trespass," or the sin of pride.

I think the last part is the most important....
There is a line between being thankful and pride... I mean - it is one thing to celebrate your victories in life and to rub them in the faces of others.. IMO, it also ties down to the conflict between internal and external validation.. Not only that, but it is about acknowledging that you are mortal and that you should only take care of yourself in order to be in the best position to leave something behind.
I think this concept of "pride" should be explored in relation to the nature and meaning of life

pride as a sin, is the idea that 1. I don't need to change, because I already know what's going on, and 2, a sense that we are in constant competition with literally everyone and everything around us. IE. when you get road rage at that guy who cut you off, even though he doesn't know you enough for it to be an intentional "I'm better than you ".

Pride at its core is both a mindset and an emotion as they are both on the opposing end of the spectrum. On the positive side, pride is internal and rooted within reality as it comes from within oneself as a result of feeling pleasure in your accomplishments and goals! An example of this would be building a nice house for yourself from the ground up with your own two hands or growing your own food to support your family.
On the negative side, pride is external and rooted in fantasy as it is viewed as a form of arrogance, vanity, ego, and an overpowering sense of self-importance and entitlement. When a person develops a superiority complex, it helps them compensate for their shortcomings, weaknesses, flaws, and insecurities when compared to others they view as lesser or inferior! As such, it’s considered the worst of the seven deadly sins! Feeling proud is virtuous, being proud is sinful!

Pride is all bad. Pride or narcissism is the literal opposite of love. Love is giving to the point of sacrificing self for the benefit of others. The LORD Yeshua being the perfect example of that. The opposite then would be taking to the point of sacrificing others for one’s own benefit. This coincides with the strongest human instinct and thus the most defining human characteristic, self preservation. This truth only underscores the scripture that says the nature of the flesh (self preservation) is enmity (direct opposition) against the nature of God (selfless). Great video, I enjoyed very much.

Pride is the foundation in which we build our Ego upon
Pride has nothing to do with anyone but oneself. It revolves around the self. It gorifies the self. It makes errything else about oneself via association
Pride in oneself or others is just pure selfishness. You do no 'give' Pride, you 'take' it. For yourself. Embellishment of the Ego. Absolute narcissism
That's the 'motivation' you speak of
It becomes obsession bcuz Pride is insatiable. It's supremacy, the false sense of superiority and security. The desire to remain superior, whatever the cost
What the Proud have is never enough. Insatiable. Discontent. Dysphoric. An Ingrate
Gratitude is the true opposite to Pride
