    The signs of liver damage:
    -rapid weight loss-pale gums
    -concentrated dark and smelly urine
    -weakness and lethargy
-a jaundiced look and refusal to eat
Milk thistle is a proven liver rejuvenator, but is exogenous (not found in common food). Your dogs liver is its largest internal organ and works around the clock filtering toxins from the blood.
Because the liver works so hard at filtering and eliminating all of these toxic substances, it is highly susceptible to serious damage. Toxins from additives in your dogs diet, from medications, vaccines, free radicals, bacteria and viruses are all passed through the liver for cleansing, it's a tough job!
Your dogs liver will always need some help and mother nature has just the thing - Milk Thistle!
What's in Milk Thistle For Dogs Liver?
Milk thistle is a flower and it's seeds and roots have been used in medicine for 2000 years. The active mixed ingredient needed, silymarin has been promoted for dogs as highly beneficial for liver and kidney damage.
Milk Thistle for Dogs BenefitsLiver damage is very common in dogs, especially if subsisting on a commercial processed diet and taking in regular medications and vaccines. Milk thistle will prove a powerful antioxidant to the free radical damage caused by various chemicals floating around your dogs body.
If the liver is damaged or weakened, it will be less able to break down toxins and will begin to store them and release what's called histamines to protect itself. To combat allergens, the brain sends signals for the liver to release histamines and a weakened liver is far less able to remove these histamines as they continue to build up in the body. What then begins to take place is an allergic response such as sneezing, asthma, hives, ear infections, streaming eyes etc.
Milk thistle will help repair the liver damage so it can continue effectively flushing out toxins. Milk thistle will also help in the repair of a damaged kidney, decrease the effects of cancer and has proven effective in the lessening of the amount of insulin needed in the treatment of diabetes. Milk thistle will help flush out the following toxins from your dogs body:
    • Vaccine chemicals
    • Pesticide residues
    • Antibiotics• Steroids
    • All medications
    • Household and yard chemicals
    • Pet food chemicals
Giving Milk Thistle to Dogs:Milk thistle is best used as a liver cleanser to aid in liver recovery by stimulating new liver cell growth and protect against further toxin damage. The recommended tincture extract of milk thistle contains 70 to 80% silymarin and should be labeled. Give the tincture starting dose of 1/4 tsp. per 20lbs of your dogs lean body weight per day divided by two daily doses.
You can also get it in powdered capsule form. Give 50mg per 20lbs of your dogs lean body weight twice per day AM and PM for four months. For example, 100mg or 200mg capsules can be opened and divided as needed by bodyweight and added to daily meals. And don't use milk thistle on pregnant and lactating dogs.

I am so happy to have found your site Dan! We recently were told our beloved dog has advanced liver disease with signs of a mass during scan. She is on a bland diet of turkey and rice, Tralieve for pain and 400 mg of hepatosyl plus a day, which I know has silybum but only a small amount. We want to give her milk thistle tincture as well but wanted to check if you feel this would be harmful on top of the hepatosyl. (We know our vet is the first port of call, but while she is very competent she's not as enthusiastic about natural care as we would like...) Thanks so much for your thoughts!

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  2 роки тому

Yes it's fine to give Milk thistle extract: amzn.to/3mjJlJM with the hepatosyl.
Also I highly recommend dandelion extract for the liver and other health benefits: amzn.to/33KWWT6
. This helps remove toxins from the body through waste via the kidneys. It's also a great antioxidant, much needed. Start small and slow and build up the dose (as with every food/supplement).
I recommend a raw food diet for the condition, you need to be all out on this really. Also, the mass, is that cancer?
To shift that you'll need a strong protocol, something I can help with but not here, there's lots to it, as you can imagine.
I do have a One to One dog health email consultation and support serivce that may be the more natural help your looking for: healthydogforlife.com/one-to-one-total-dog-health-service/

We will continue to look at this with food and more holistic care, and I'll check out your one to one service as I appreciate a UA-cam chat isn't the best platform for that level of detail. Very informative video! I would like to share something with everybody that I experienced: I lost my best friend because of liver disease. He had what was called copper storage. This is becoming a big issue with dogs. More and more copper is being put in to commercial dog food! Our dogs are getting too much copper these days and that kills the liver! All dog lovers and dog owners out there please look into this! I don't want this to happen to anyone else! God bless!

Thank you for sharing this information, much appreciated.
The only way to manage a situation like this as I see it is to get in touch with the pet food manufacturer and find out how much copper they add to their dog food. The AFFCO minimum is 7.3mg, so it should not really be much more than this and the best foorm of copper currently added to pet food is copper chelate.
It's the pet parents resposilbilty to control their dogs diet, no one else will help and certainly not vets.

Yes it does. Milk Thistle, or silymarin, helps protect the liver and supports regeneration of liver cells. Buy organic milk

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  2 роки тому +1

      Milk thistle extract: amzn.to/3mjJlJM
With the above tincture, here's the dosing:
General dosing is about 1 drop per pound of body weight.
About 3-4 drops for small pets up to 20 pounds (cat/dogs) with mild liver conditions = 108 144mg/day
About 9 drops for small pets up to 20 pounds (cats/dogs) with severe liver conditions = 322mg/day
You can space the timings of each drop throughout the day if you prefer and have the time to dose your pet, but you can also dose all at once, too.
"For dogs with advanced liver disease, a dosage as high as 200 mg per 10 pounds of body weight is possible. For other liver problems or health conditions, 75 to 100 mg per 10 pounds of body weight per day is sufficient to see results." **Remember to check with your veterinarian if you are not sure.**
If milk thistle causes upset stomach, gas, or mild diarrhea in your dogs, simply reduce the dosage.
Most small pets (cats/dogs) under 20 pounds can take up to 300mg/day on average for medical treatment. It is not recommended as a daily vitamin in general in high amounts. Small amounts such as 1-2 drops/day should be okay.

    Hi Mr.Scott
Thanks for this informative video. My 9-year old chihuahua recently became intoxicated from taking an anti-flea medication known as Bravecto. She was perfectly healthy and now suffers from seizures. The vet put her on Keppra and an liver protector which active ingredient is Silibinin. These worked for a while, but seizures are slowly coming back. I've heard about detoxing with Milk Thistle on a Facebook group. My question is, would any of the meds she is currently taking affect the detox process with Milk Thistle?

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  2 роки тому +3

Yes unfortunatly anti-flea meds can do that (I have a natural alternative). Yes Keppra becomes less effective after a while. The Silibinin is a constituent of Milk Thistle as is Silimarin, the focus of the Facebook group discussion no doubt.
For Milk Thistle to be effective, use for 5 months straight daily (effects around 3-4 months), stop 1 month then use again for 5 months daily. It's slow but effective over time at repairing liver damage and regenerating liver cells. I like to use a tincture with high silimarin content: Milk thistle extract: amzn.to/3mjJlJM
I've also made a video all about Milk Thistle.
I also advocate CBD oil for seizure control. Some great studies on this and combined with a healthier diet of fresh food, my results have been a 90% reduction in seizures.
I also recommend MCT oil (from coconut oil). Another tested remedy that works very well for seizure dogs: amzn.to/3Es3zqk
If the Keppra is not working so much now, I'd stop it and use CBD oil, this is an excellent option: healthydogforlife.com/CBD
Just get the size that fits your dog.
Personally, I'd stop the vet meds and focus on a healtheir fresh food diet, milk thistle, MCT oil and CBD oil to really bring the seizures under control and bring real health to my dog.
      Hope this helps.

If you want an excellent, VERY low carbohydrate kibble at just 5%, (high carbohydrates cause chronic inflammation, with itchy skin, yeast, poor gut health, ear infection, UTI's and hot spots, and nearly all kibbles are 40+% carbs!).
Ketona has high protein at 47% (dogs thrive on proteins), correct fats at 15% and natural additives, so have a look at Ketona Kibble: healthydogforlife.com/KetonaKibble. I recommend still adding the fresh foods even with the best kibble.
By introducing fresh foods, really lowering carbs use, introducing greens, omega 3's, proteins and a better more suitable kibble, your dog will respond with healing and improved health over the next 12 weeks.
      Some must do's:
Zero vaxx once adult (auto immune disease issues)
Very low carbs in diet (cause of inflammation)
No vet drugs, there's effective natural alternatives.
Feed a healthier diet with at least 50% fresh food in it.
NO white foods ie rice, potato, pasta..
So at a most basic level, your dog wants more fresh foods added into the diet.

    Hi Mr. Dan,
So I went to the vet for my dogs dental checkup and blood work. In the bloodwork the vet told me that he has high ALT enzymes. She has asked for further testing but that is not in my budget. She recommended Denamarin should I give my dog this supplement to help control this enzyme? And is there anything you recommend? My dog is 1 year old and 56lb. Thank you

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  2 роки тому +2

High ALT's can be from liver, kidney or gut, hence the further testing. Denamarin is ok.
I fully recommend a diet and lifestyle change.. this is whats needed or the vets will come with drugs and costs.
You can follow the Healthier Kibble Diet in my ebook
      : healthydogforlife.com/feed-your-dog-better-book-by-dan-scott/
That would be the best and easiest start and tells you everything to do.
For now, add probiotics to meals: amzn.to/3pZp7oB
and take 25% of the kibble at each meal and replace with eggs, canned sardines and half cooked and well mashed or blended vegetables.
And you must stop all vet drugs, flea&tick treatments, vaccines, dewormers etc NO more chemicals, they cause hight ALTS.

Hi Dan, my name is Christina and I have had my little Oliver since March 2021 he is a year and nine months old. He is a full breed Pomeranian. Ever since we bought him home he always had episodes of throwing up/diarrhea and every time he had these episodes, I would take him to his vet and she would always give him an injection of saline Fluids to make him feel better cause he was dehydrated. They ran blood test on him it showed that he had high levels of hematocrit/hemoglobin. They just said to keep an eye on it but he was getting worse as the time went on.
He then started to throw up blood/bloody stools. I took him to another known Vet in the area she started him on raw food, urine test, A full panel blood work, fecal transplant and we slowly transition him through but before he was able to complete his transition he started to throw up violently. Then at the same vet office we saw a different doctor and she recommended put him back on a home-cooked meal which was what he was on before going to them. We saw their vet nutritionist for a consultation on what to feed Oliver they said it was going to be specially designed or formulated for Oliver’s G.I. issues but what they sent over via email was so fast that I didn’t think it was formulated just for Oliver but I went ahead and went against my gut feeling. Started him on a chicken, liver, spinach, broccoli, red bell pepper, egg, egg shells, zinc, kelp, Ginger, hulled hemp seeds, Cod oil. He seem to do OK on it for about a month or so and then they wanted me to add on fish oil 1 ML When I did this about a day and a half to two days later he started to look nauseous sick he wouldn’t eat the whole day and then all of a sudden he had a very large bowel movement that looked like it was all mucus with A dark red purple color which honestly I thought it was blood. But I don’t know if it was all the vitamins that he was taking and the Fish oil removed it from his intestines. I’m not too sure if that was a good thing or bad thing but I right away went to the vet. They took a poop sample and they said that it wasn’t blood there wasn’t too sure what it was but it wasn’t bloody the poop sample came back normal, They gave him a B12 injection and took more blood for testing. The doctor then suggested to do an ultrasound Which was done a few weeks ago the results came back Showing his adrenal glands one smaller than other and a spot on his liver that was so small that they couldn’t really determine what it was. Now Oliver is going through a ACTH test which was done yesterday and a bile acid testing which will be done on Monday. I honestly don’t know what to do anymore I’ve tried to call the place where I bought him at to see if they could help or suggest anything for him but everybody wants to clean their hands. They said that they only give a one year congenital warranty and honestly I don’t want any of my money back I just want to get him better. He’s honestly a part of my heart and family. Sometimes I feel like the vet that he seeing doesn’t know what they’re doing but I don’t know where else to go because they all seem to do the same thing and I know it’s a let’s try this let’s try that and see how it goes but I wish I could find someone that knows how To handle special cases like Oliver’s. What would you recommend to do for Oliver ?
LATEST BLOOD TEST : Hematocrit 59.3, hemoglobin 22.2, BUN 33, total protein 5.4, Creatine Kinase 260.

So that's a third less than 1/4tsp. If you have the correct kitchen measuring spoons, you can eyeball it.

    Hello Mr. Scott,
I just found out recently from my dog’s blood test result that she has over 200% severe disfunctional kidney and liver. Is there any way I can use this to help restore it and save her? I know its mainly for the liver but can it help her kidneys also? Would it have any negative effect on them? Could you please let me know if there is some other supplement that can help her kidneys also?
She is a senior dog (16 years old) and has not been eating for about two weeks, not drinking as much water, vomiting bile, lethargic, and not going to the bathroom. I have taken her to the vet already who suggets to put her to sleep but I want to hear a second opinion , I really want to save her..

Make it warm and if she doesnt eat it, use a turkey blaster and force it in from the side teeth.

Do you have any suggestions on how to treat low liver enzymes? My 7 year old beagle's enzymes have been dropping and are no longer in a normal range. An ultrasound showed that his liver is on the smaller side. Before we adopted him almost 2 years ago, he was used in medical research. I tried a tincture which includes dandelion root, greater celendine, milk thistle, and barberry. He felt pretty warm, lethargic, and was drooling more than usual so I stopped using it. Is milk thistle effective when enzymes are low and the liver is possibly shrinking? I don't want to stop using these ingredients if they will be beneficial in the long term and I'm thinking of just greatly reducing the dosage...

The recommended tincture extract of milk thistle contains 70 to 80% silymarin and should be labeled. Give the tincture starting dose of 1/4 tsp. per 20lbs of your dogs lean body weight per day divided by two daily doses.
      Milk thistle extract: amzn.to/3mjJlJM
You can also get it in powdered capsule form. Give 50mg per 20lbs of your dogs lean body weight twice per day AM and PM for four-six months. For example, 100mg or 200mg capsules can be opened and divided as needed by bodyweight and added to daily meals. And don't use milk thistle on pregnant and lactating dogs.

      Protecting The Kidneys & Liver:
It’s crucial to protect and support healthy kidneys and liver to avoid kidney/liver disease in dogs.
Feed a fresh, whole food diet. A balanced raw diet will give your dog the protein, vitamins and nutrients he needs to function well. Adding the following to your dog’s regular diet will also help support his system and protect kidney function:
Eggs - easily digested complete food
Small fish like mackerel, anchovies and sardines (canned is good and convenient)
      Sprouts
Small seeds - flax or sesame are great (crushed)
Herbs - dandelion and parsley (can gets as tincture if not fresh)
Add some fresh chopped herbs to your dog’s food - a pinch per 10 lbs up to 1 Tbsp for a dog 100 lbs or larger. If you buy dried herbs, capsules or a tincture, assume the dose on the label is for a 150 lb human and adjust the dose for your dog’s weight. Here's a multi herb freeze dried product with LOTS of antioxidants crucial to health, also including probiotics, beta glucans (protect/boost immune system) and much more:
      Green Vibrance: amzn.to/3cOgzLu
1/4 scoop, sml dogs, 1/3 scoop med dogs, 1/2 scoop big dogs.
Avoid or minimize vaccines - since they’re a major cause of inflammation and the toxic adjuvants and additives can compromise your dog’s system. Since the kidneys flush toxins from the body, vaccines force the kidneys to work overtime anytime there’s a new toxin unreduced. Your dog’s kidneys don’t like those toxins and will work hard to flush them out.
Avoid drugs and toxins - Antibiotics are really hard on the kidneys and drugs that suppress symptoms are not actually doing anythin to heal the real issue. Use silver for antibiotic use: amzn.to/2UXexmC
Give a good quality probiotics to improve digestion overall and help the kidneys/liver process better: amzn.to/3xqa2i0 (don't need if getting the greens above).
If your dog has kidney/liver issues, using fresh food as therapy and avoiding the drugs/vaccines the kidneys/liver will suffer through is the way to go for your dogs health long term.
The Best Foods for Kidney/liver Health
Dark leafy greens. Dark leafy green vegetables such as kale, spinach, chard, and collard greens are loaded with vitamins A and C, calcium, and many other important minerals.
      Berries.
      Cranberries.
      Sweet potatoes.
      Olive oil.
      Fatty fish.
      Sardines.
      Cabbage.

Hello, thank you for the info. I hope you can reply to me.
I have a 13 yo Bichon who was just fine a few days ago (about a week). Everyone would say how young he looked and acted. He was vibrant and healthy. Then I noticed he had barely touched his food and water. He was eating crappy dry food. All in a matter of 3-4 days I could feel his bones and his skin was sagging because he lost so much weight.
I took him to the hospital yesterday and the vet wanted to euthanize him because she said he had turned yellow and it was Jaundice and advanced meaning liver failure. She had no hope for him and was euthanasia hasty. They didn't give him a blood tests either. He still has life in him and wants to live. I have to help him. I'm going to try to take him tomorrow to get a blood test.
I ordered the milk thistle you recommended. In the meantime, I bought a powdered pill to break up for him. I also broke up B complex for him and purchased fresh pet food. It's actually FreshPet chicken, turkey, cranberry, and spinach.
The issue is that he refuses to eat and will only eat a very small amount or I'm force feeding him which is chokes on. I want to heal him not hurt him. I've tried enticing him with peanut butter, tuna fish in water which he normally goes crazy for, and chicken and rice and nothing has worked.
My question to you is, what to do when they're not eating? Can I administer the milk thistle even without food?
And as far as how I think we got here...my daughter left a grape on the floor that he ate and vomited back up shortly after. Or because I gave him a piece of beef fat. Or the kibble. I dont know.
Last thing, his urine was coming out orange. I was able to get a little bit of the powdered milk thistle in with the little bit of food he ate and he urine seems to turned back yellow and then dark brown and thick.
Any advice, please! I've been crying all day and want to turn my tears and grief into proper action.
    Thank you sincerely

Get some coconut water from the supermarket and keep him well hudrated with that.
Only give fresh food, no kibble or dry foods. Give raw eggs, canned sardines packed in water only, half cooked and blended vegegetables and a little meat protein like chicken.
      Get some bone broth: amzn.to/3zgsN8M
and give a little to eat 3-4 times daily and or add to meals.
Feeding certain fresh fruits and vegetables will help cleanse and support your dog’s liver. Foods with great antioxidant support include:
      Sprouts (clover, alfalfa or radish)
      Spinach
      Broccoli (especially sulphoraphane-rich broccoli sprouts)
      Celery
      Asparagus
      Lemons and apple cider vinegar
      Fermented vegetables
Note: Greens should be pureed or lightly steamed so that they’re easily digestible for your dog.
      Please get the following:
      Hemp Seed oil: amzn.to/3vDdtjX
Helps the liver. 1/2tsp a day.
      Live Enzymes: amzn.to/2ksvlx1
      Again much needed.
      Antioxidant blend: amzn.to/3FvLiJM
Antioxidants much needed by the liver.
Also, please understand that the liver while it does it's best. at this stage it's very 11th hour and your dog simply may not make it. The above will help a lot nutritionally. And for ease, soothing and some pain management please give some CBD oil: healthydogforlife.com/CBD
Choose the size for your dogs size and give 2-3 times daily in food or by mouth, it helps at this stage and is good for end of life management.
Sorry about this, it happens, keep your head up, do your best but be prepared to let go soon.

Hey Dan my boy Oscar is currently battling severe pancreatitis, very inflamed pancreas and an inflamed gall bladder. His big issue right now is he is regurgitating with solid foods, but with liquids in the vet he was fine.
We are taking him home today. I’ve sorted a supplement plan with dandelion root, milk thistle, slippery elm, and CBD.
In terms of food I’ll be using beef broth, white rice, chicken, lean beef, and just low fat meats all together.
Do you have any suggestions I could further optimize this plan to help him out.
In terms of meds he’s on:
    Dexamethasone
    Cerenia
    Antibiotics
    Pain meds
Another one of his issues was regurgitation from eating solid foods. So I’m really concerned On his stomach and how it’s reacting.

      Here's some Ideas:
What To Feed A Dog With Pancreatitis
There’s a two part answer to this question …
      1. What To Feed Dogs Recovering From Pancreatitis
A bland diet may be useful while your dog is recovering from a pancreatitis episode … whether acute or chronic.
Bone broth can be a good choice as he starts to feel better.
If he’s ready for solid food, give a bland diet like cooked chicken breast and white rice. If you’re only feeding it for a few weeks, you don’t need to add supplements.
In the long run, you’ll want to go with a consistent, low-fat diet.
      2. Long-Term Diet For Pancreatitis In Dogs
A balanced homemade whole food diet is always the top choice, with appropriate supplementation. A raw diet is fine … but introduce (or re-introduce) it gradually. Wait until your dog’s inflammation subsides and healing is well underway.
      Supplements For Pancreatitis In Dogs
The right supplements are good additions to any diet, but especially helpful for dogs with pancreatitis.
      • Pre- and probiotics amzn.to/3g0mPkE
      • Digestive enzymes amzn.to/2ksvlx1
      • Omega-3 fatty acids amzn.to/3vDdtjX
      • Antioxidants shrsl.com/3uv18
      What Causes Pancreatitis In Dogs?
Acute pancreatitis is often associated with a high-fat diet or especially fatty meal. Dietary indiscretion (aka garbage gut) is also a common cause. Many dogs turn up with pancreatitis around the holidays. Beware of guests feeding fatty foods and table scraps (like turkey skin). Along with the stresses of the season, this sets the stage for big problems.
How To Prevent Pancreatitis In Dogs
Many variables can be involved in pancreatitis … so it’s impossible to make any guarantees about prevention. But these factors are definitely within your control:
      1. Feed a healthy diet.
      2. Give appropriate supplements as suggested above.
      3. Make sure your dog gets regular exercise and adequate rest.
      4. Maintain a healthy weight. This means on the lean side for most dogs.
      5. Don’t over-vaccinate. Vaccines are a major factor in autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.
      6. Pay attention to things that may signal a problem, such as changes in …
      o Appetite
      o Stool quality
      o Behavior
      o Energy level
      7. If you have any doubts, ask your holistic veterinarian.
Give the slippery elm on an empty stomach, maybe add to some plain yoghurt.
Wean off the drugs as soon as is possible. Ons once he's ok again, keep carbs low and focus on low fat proteins including eggs and sardines.

Rehmannia 8 increases renal blood flow and even when 60 to 70 per cent of the kidney is no longer functioning, a significant number of nephrons may still be able to function with adequate blood flow.

@@jadep.bangeles2096 So the Lymedox should be finished soon as it's the antibiotic and this should have worked by 14 days (29th Dec).
Stop the belmetic now. If it's not stopped 'being sick' by now it's not working, so stop.
The Liverolin has milk thistle in it, so it's ok but you could go with an all milk thistle supplement instead: shrsl.com/3uv2e
The Hemacare is for iron deficiency and possible anemia.
      Get rid of that cage!
And feed more fresh foods in diet like eggs, canned sardines, part cooked and blended veggies and a little actual meat ie chicken.
If there's eating issues, start with bone broth: amzn.to/38AZ3uX
Then move onto small meals of the above with a little of what you feed now, make the meal 50:50 old to new foods.
And start weaning off those drugs. Zero vaccines too.

Gut health is poor. Diet is the key here and much of the cause of the health issues. That food is not good enough to eat. There maybe additional issues from vaccines (not recommended), and any other vet drugs.
If you can find slippery elm bark powder, give on an empty stomach to stop the blood and bring relief.
The diet must be fresh food based to help the dogs digestive system get stronger, so transition the dog very slowly over to fresh food as 75% of the diet.
So that's raw eggs, plenty, any animal meats ie chicken (all parts), canned sardines or other fish meats, part cooked and blended veggies and just 25% that pet food. The dog will improve over 12 weeks.
Also add a probiotic if you can find a good one or add one large galic clove, finely chopped with a piece of banana to the meal to act as probiotic and prebiotic.

Are yes, the dewormer. I've heard about it but no research on it to give you advice. What I do know is that it does have side effects like vomiting and diarrhea. Panacur (Fenbendazole): can also cause facial swelling, hives, and excess salivation.
My favorite is THC oil which may or may not be legal in your area, great anti cancer treatment that works?

@@akaaashgupta6504 The dog needs fresh foods. Fresh raw organic eggs are great dog food with 100% assimilation and a great protein.
Canned sardines are great too. I don't like commercial pet foods really, too much synthetics and bad quality food.. and just as much so in the expensive vet specialist foods.
Nutritionally speaking, its not good enough!
Milk thistle is good, so that's ok.
He's a big dog so find the budget to feed him chicken meats, heads, feet, guts, some part cooked and blended veggies, some canned sardines, some eggs, some fish and then some other meats like goat, beef etc.

Feed your dog real food not pellets and cans. Fresh meat, fish, eggs, vegs, yoghurt, fish oil, sardines, etc. Watch them bloom.
I can take an abused and damaged dog and male them a champion in 6 months of proper feeding. Convenience food is bad.
Dan, thank you for this post! 50 mg per 25 lbs dry thistle powder means 2 mg per lb of dog's weight. Got it!
Give this for 4 months. Will do.
I have a long standing dog problem I want to solve. Itchy skin. Hair falling out, Malassezia yeast setting in, scaly, greasy, smelly skin. This happens to big GSDs and small Poodles and so many more. What is this cycle? Gut probiotics missing? Liver or Pancreas or Adrenal issue? I want to solve this riddle before I die. There are too many dogs suffering from this. The skin becomes super itchy and so do the ears.
Now I know that liver malfunction and blocked bile ducts can cause itchy skin in humans. Wonder if that is the same issue?
I'm going to try the Silymarin and maybe that will fix the skin problem. Nothing to lose here. Your information about dosage was extremely helpful, thank you!

It's a tricky subject. Shots, drugs, dewormers etc all VERY bad for dogs with heavy metals, poisons etc causing skin issues to the bodies largest organ.
Give zero carbs, sugars, fruits (except berries), use only a soil based probiotic: amzn.to/3yoURqU
Use Colostrum (for allergies, sensitivity, intolerance & off Apoquel): amzn.to/3H79rad
Also, just told another this. Try some oregano oil mixed with coconut oil for a rubdown. Oregano oil: amzn.to/3ulnF1T
1 part oregano oil to 5 parts coconut, mix well and rub on affected areas for relief. Careful, it's very acrid neat.
Plus for yourself, 4 drops in spoon of household oil and down the throat for first sign of cold, flu etc. Works great as antibiotic.
Oh, and 12-15% fat in diet. Under 10% and skin issues arize.
