When framing your shot, don't forget you can rotate the camera around the center axis of the lens via the lens collar to give you a third point of adjustment.
Th SA is a great piece of portable gear for tracking. There are easier ways to set up, but once you get it.... you get it. Look forward to your journey with this equipment Alyn, thanks for the videos. 👍
Hi Alyn, only recently discovered your photos! I'm from North Wales and your photos have inspired me to go out more, just received the same tracker in the post too, looking forward to testing it out 😀
I always have various crap in my vehicle so when a lens hood is forgotten, I can tape on a coffee cup, magazine cover etc. I got nuked by lens fog when I was using a really wide lens which you really can't put anything around with out heavy vignetting . Shopping for a warmer to keep the dew at bay.
Just got my Star Adventurer 2i in November. True to form, I haven't had but 3-5 clear nights since then. I am hoping to get polar alignment worked out by the end of January as I hope to image the comet then. I have subscribed and will be watching more of your vids. Great job!
Looks fantastic and using the Skywatcher is worth every pretty penny. With the addition of the right apps to give you the correct tracking alignment is a boost. Love your work. Cheers
Dude! I love your channel even more now I know you have a camper! I feel your pain about forgetting kit. I once forgot both the tripod adapter and my only SD card at the time on. Oh! and then there was the time when I left the focus mask on for an entire imaging run! All my stars looked like 6 legged creatures!

I'm trying to get some shots with my tamron 600mm. Complete pain in the butt to keep my tracker on Polaris while trying to reposition the lense. Only tried the tracker for about 2 nights however. Dang weather is just clouds and high high high winds..
Star adventurer best astro investment I have made - always gives me good shots, even on poor nights up in the beacons. Its quick and easy to setup, takes camera and /or small telescope, light and portable, batteries last for ages, different speeds for sidelreal, lunar, solar and time lapse. But the polar scope cover and battery cover are cheap and nasty, ocassionaly accidently switch on the mount when in the case
Any tips on how to find your deep sky object Alyn? With big telescopes viewfinders help, plus Stellarium/Cartes du Ciel can guide the mount to the right region getting you very close, but how to do this with a camera on a Welsh mountain is unclear to me. Must be increasing harder as focal length gets longer. Cheers mate !
Hi Alyn! Maybe, this could work, with a cleaning cloth, put it between your front element and your hand, warm it for a few minutes, and the lens will last a little bit more without fog, or... that if you don’t want to use your van AC, this are temporary solutions, but better than nothing!
Beautiful video Alyn Wallace, congratulations really,a question if you can,self-driving photographers? Without self-driving until you can chase without having the micromox? Thank you very much and have a good day

Very good Alyn. I am looking to do a bit more deep space work this winter. I use a Fornax Lightrack II, which I replaced my Astrotrac with. The Astrotrac was a really good mount, but was let down by a poor polar scope.
@@AlynWallace It's really good pal, if a little heavy. It's probably a bit more suitable for the longer lenses like your 100-400 but I have used an old 300mm f4 on Andromeda the other week & it came out really well, with no trailing at all at 2 minutes.I never got even that with the Astrotrac, but I blame the horrible polar scope for that. How does it rotate. I have a star adventure but I can’t seem to understand how it rotates. After I lock it in place. Do I have to unlock it? And if so it rotates and drops. Would love to get some feedback. Thank you.
For Andromeda, could you take a photo at ISO 800 using this tracker? Also I have two lenses, 75-300, and 150-600. Which one would you recommend for this galaxy?
I have one of these on order and plan to try it with my Panasonic S1H and the Leica 90-280mm. That will be heavy (about 7lbs). So it will test what this machine can handle. I guess you were about 5 pounds with your set up.
How did you manage to get the illuminator to work for the polar align? Mine won't fit on once the dovetail is mounted. You can see through the polar scope but can't illuminate the reticle without holding the light in one hand. I'm thinking you might be using some kind of adapter for that?
