Profession: Skatepark Archeologist. I'd be interested in an entire series based on this. The search of legendary skate parks that may or may not exist anymore.
I hope you will stay longer in Malaysia. We have a lot of skate parks and skate communities in the different states in the country. It will be worth it for you to discover all (or at least most) of them!
what an adventure. good on y'all trying to find the place. your series in Malaysia is awesome, so many things & great people with you. get well soon, Mike & Pian. you guys are truly awesome! get some rest & you'll be OK.
One time in Cuba in the early 2000s we heard about an old skateable pool hidden in the mountains near Soroa that had been there since the 1950s. After hiking for hours in the mountains we found it - although not a transitioned pool it did have a bank to wall which was skateable. Cuba has many hidden skate spots and an amazing scene now = well worth a trip
We spent most of the 90’s driving all over the UK looking for and quite often finding stuff like this, you’re right about the journey part. I’ve never laughed that hard since and would do it all again in a heartbeat.
man your content is consitantly so good!! So happy to see what you're doing. It inspires me. The connection skateboarding has brought me in my experience when I have skated in other places around the world feels so fulfilling. Happy to see your experiences through it
Man I’ve been wondering about this spot for a bit now! Saw a video back in 2014 or so of someone else documenting the park and couldn’t remember where it was or what it was called. How coincidental I come across this video lol. Would be awesome to see someone revive the park
If you come through the main gate (RM3 entry) its a 40 minutes walk down pavements till the park, did a mockumentary about this a lil while ago. Sick find! I hope you're better health wise now man
Hey man thank you. The park is now closed since covid i think. That’s why we had to sneak trough the jungle. It must be a better way to get inside for sure
I've been there to skate once at 1989 with my skate buddies. It was far deep inside the so call "botanical park". As local skaters back then, we cursed to whom was built these ramp in the middle of nowhere. Public funds have been wasted just like that. If it was built near a community area, it would help us to grow our skills.
This has to be the most iconic dystopian apocalypse Hollywood movie location not yet used. Just toss in some relic skateboards and a few skeleton props and it's action ready.
In my place, Penang also had many places for skateboarding and BMX in the 90s,.. I was just a spectator once, now it's an age factor. Anyway, you need to find young people who are still active here, even though there are still some people still playing..it's a pity that most of them prefer to play gadgets at home only...
