    Would like to know if you have measurements that compare the 6112 extended length and travel compared the stock Badlands ESV Bilstein?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  11 місяців тому +2

      They are about a half inch longer than the stock Sasquatch parts fully extended and the same length fully compressed. So a touch longer than what you have no in both avenues, but not much. If you are looking to gain travel get the Icon 2.5 EXPs instead

    Actuallyyy the 4600 is a bit stiffer for street applications and the 5100 is a bit floatier for a more off-road applications, have ran both and the 4600 just ride smoother on highway and take bumps at higher speeds better, 5100 eats up speed bumps a bit better but tends to have light sway on highway nothing detrimental but you’ll get a more modern/stiffer feel on any vehicle with the 4600

      4600s would defintiely be the way to go if you are keeping it stock height and on the road. They should offer may better handling, stability, and comfort over stock.

      Maybe that is something they used to do, but on most applications they use the same shaft 14 and 18 mm shafts. The 2.6" body 6112, 8100, and 8112 struts, shocks, and coilovers do get larger shafts though.

    • @ShockSurplus

      The Bilsteins are digressively valved so they should offer a lot more stability in those conditions, however it sounds like their could be some funky geometry at play if you are getting a little yaw over bumps. What kind of vehicle is it?

    I recently bought the 5100 for my f-150 2015 RWD and for some reason the control arm would hit the strut. What could be the reason for this ? I’m on 33s with 18inch rims

    • @ShockSurplus

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  Місяць тому +1

      You can yes, its ill advised though. You're putting the ride zone at the very top of the travel range, leaving no downward/droop travel left in the shock, you'll feel frequent clunks on bumps or holes.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  11 місяців тому

      No that is it. The 5100s struts are ride height adjustable and the shocks are longer and designed for lifts. They are tuned a little firmer as well but outside of that and the zinc plating the internals are identical

    • @toyotabrony
      @toyotabrony 11 місяців тому

      @@ShockSurplus so my question is, why bilstein add zinc plated shocks? Instead of paint.
      A protective paint last longer than zinc coated.
      Why not paint silver gloss for B8/5100 instead? They did on rav4.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  11 місяців тому

      Zinc plating will far outlast paint when maintained. If you occasionally spray them with a light lubricant like a teflon spray, the Zinc will basically last forever. It also is a stronger coating that is far less likely to chip when hit with debris. Vehicles that use strut suspension like the RAV4 do not have the same concern about being peppered with debris or getting hung up on a rock, so they went with paint on the B8 Terrasports.
